I am not sure if this is the correct forum for my question. I just bouhgt a Sony HDR CX160 camcorder and need to download/view the videos on my Mac (Lion). Could you please help me with this issue or direct me to the correct forum? Sony's answer is to contact Apple...? Thank you very much in advance!

Looking up your camera online, I found it is capable of 1920 x 1080 Full HD 60p Recording. It's the 60p (60 frames per second Progressive) that's the problem I think. iMovie '11 will do 60i (Interlaced). You might need to convert it from the format the camera currently uses into another format to get it into iMovie. Read more about it on this link here: How to import 60p footage From that message thread comes the recommendation to use ClipWrap to convert the camera's video clips now that they are in 60p:

Use ClipWrap to rewrap to QuickTime. Import the files. Edit in either 59.94 or 29.97. The latter if you want to use the high frame rate for slomo

How to install
When you click a link, a download of the installer file occurs to your Downloads Folder usually located next to your Trash Can or in your Users Folder.
Open the folder and double click (or File: Open) the download and icon can appear on your desktop which you open and inside is a installer package which you double click on to launch the installer.
OS X will check the download to make sure you intended to start it and that it's not malware it knows about.
Follow the installer instructions to install the software onto your computer and quit when finished.
Some require the browsers to be closed first, others require the machine to be restarted to enable the software.
Once the install is completed, remove any and all downloads from your Download folder, it's safer to keep this folder empty so you can keep track of what appears in there.
Drive by downloads of malware can occur and reside in the Downloads folder, mixing in with files residing there and await your click to install.

I hope you are referring to Flash Player and you have installed it successfully. Ideally, you should be able to view Flash videos available in Internet.
Do you have any issues in viewing videos?

I have used Cometbird as my internet browser for almost a year, but a few friends told me that Firefox is better, so I downloaded Firefox to give it a try. Yours is not mentioned, but model numbers close to yours are; Sony uses some proprietary formats, so you may have to do some fiddling to get it to work. There is probably a way; if you can't get it to import directly, you should be able to get the footage on your desktop and then use something like MPEG Streamclip to convert to a format iMovie can deal with.
And, it is always helpful to keep your equipment in mind and do some research before buying other stuff.

First open up Imovie. Then plug the camcorder into the USB port. The computer will search for the camera. It will give a snapshot of what is on there. You can just click on CHECK ALL. It will begin to import. It will also tell you how long it will take. Once it is imported, click DONE. THEN, this is important, drag the snapshots into IMovie on the top to create a new project. You can also click on New Project and name it. When all the pics are in the movie, it will be saved. You can then edit it any way you want. I've done this many times on a Mac. My problem is the internal memory. I have to find out how to get the internal memory videos into my computer. Am currently researching it. BTW, importing from the memory stick is what I did above. Hope this helps.

What you have stored in iCloud is unrelated to your abiity to download things to your iPad. You need to look at local storage. Settings>General>Usage.
