How to view images in iMessage

Messages (iMessages), on my MacBook Pro, does not display all images/pictures I receive.  Most are jpg files that I must click on to display.  I would like images to display when I open a chat message. Please assist.

Hi,
Messages should display all Pic files In line in the chat or conversation.
However it is true to say that at times Messages does not do this and the Speech bubble for the pic file becomes a place holder and it tends to launch Preview to view the pic.
Although I have seen the problem myself I have not found a definite "Fix".
I find the issue seems to come and go.
Try a PRAM/NVRAM Reset.
Restart the computer holding down the CMD+ALT+P+R keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs then let go and allow a normal start up.

  • How to view images from application's path?

    Hello,
I am using the codes below to view images from an ACCESS database listed as ".\image.png", the images are included in the application's path. I'm able to view the images while running crystal reports alone; However when I include the same report and databse in my VB.NET application, the images don't show. I was told that the report looks for the images in a temp folder, an alternative solution would be to copy the image files to a temp folder before attempting to run the report, but so many things can go wrong with such approach. Do you have a better solution to this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to view images from Pictures Folder using iPhoto?

Right now when I click an image in the Pictures folder, the image is automatically opened using Preview. I want to view images directly from my Pictures folder, and have them open to iPhoto. Is that possible?
I just want to be able to view/sort my photos by Folders rather than by Events, Titles or Photo dates. I can't seem to get them to sort by folders in iPhoto.

Iphoto is a Photo Database designed to allow you to organise and manipulate you photos without recourse to your files.
It's not an image viewer, it can only work with photos that have been imported to the database.
I just want to be able to view/sort my photos by Folders rather than by Events,
An Event is a folder of images with a fancy icon. You can organize your pics in iPhoto anyway you want, using Albums, folders, keywords and so on. It's far more flexible that using folders in the Finder.
You can opt to organise the files yourself, rather than have iPhoto do it for you, but I don't recommend it.
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about accessing the files, There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
    Regards

  • How to view Images from Filesystem in Apex?

    hello,
i want to view images from a network share (e.g. \\10.67.125.22\CREATIVES_DE\PRINT\THUMB\2009\06\002259044s01.JPG don´t nedd http access because it´s only intranet) in an image column of a table. unfortunatly i can´t upload them all into apex because i have really much data. i´m talking about serveral terabytes. i also want to link to videos on a network share but apex always inserts "http://ham-v000002:8080/apex/" in front of the link from the database...
    can someone help me out?
    greetings
    Sebastian

    i´m getting closer...
apex stopped inserting the localhost-string as i put "file://" in the "src" attribute. But now i´m dealing with odd slash-adding from apex.
the value located in the #THUMB# variable is like this:
    \\10.67.125.22\CREATIVES_DE\PRINT\THUMB\2009\06\002268162s01.JPG
and here´s what apex returns on "<img src="file://#THUMB#">":
    file:////10.67.125.22/CREATIVES_DE/PRINT/THUMB/2009/06/002268162s01.JPG
and the same with three slashes "<img src="file://#THUMB#">"
    file://///10.67.125.22/CREATIVES_DE/PRINT/THUMB/2009/06/002268162s01.JPG
if i just do "<img src="file:#THUMB#">" (which should return the correct path), oralce cuts away the ip-adress:
    file:///CREATIVES_DE/PRINT/THUMB/2009/06/002268162s01.JPG
    i don´t know what´s wrong here...
    greetings,

  • How to view image file in my JPanel?

Please help me someone. I have an image in my directory, and I want to get it and show it in my JPanel. How can I do this, please answer me urgently, this is a big problem for me

    Roopa is half right...
The image is truncated to user space then further still to the components clip bounds starting at x=component.X, y=component.y...
Maybe the question , in true brit style, is not worded as accurately as required...
    OPTION 1:
In order to have the entire image visible in the component, you will need to scale it to fit the component's bounds. The Image API provides this funationality...RTFA
    OPTION 2:
If you need the entire image to be viewed at its original size, you will need to have the label set as a view port in a scrollpane, with the label's extents equal to the image's.... Logical..... if you need code, read the java tutorial.... there's more than one example....
    OPTION 3:
Search these forums for another million odd answers to the same question...

  • How to view images in TextEdit documents on Lion, created under an earlier OS

I have a lot of TextEdit documents with pasted pictures ("Pasted Graphic.pict") from my times on Tiger and a PPC Mac. However when viewing these documents on Lion the pictures won't appear. I can very well open "Package Contents" of the .rtfd files and navigate to the .pict files and view them in iPhoto but not in Preview, let alone in TextEdit on Lion.
I am moving all my data from Tiger to Lion and need to be able to view the content of my documents on the new platform. Is there a trick -- a converter perhaps? I have searched online and it seems that .pict is deprecated? Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    -martin

Good idea, changing the files to PDF. Unfortunately I can only do that on the old system. I apologize - my question should have been "How to convert TextEdit documents with pictures to use them in TextEdit on Lion" -- I mean I can edit the text and delete the images on Lion but without seeing the pictures I am missing the context of the document's information.
I cannot believe that I'm the only guy here with this problem. Did I paste images into TextEdit in a weird way so that I have problems now? TextEdit is THE text editor on the Mac and it seems strange to me that I cannot easily move it's data from one platform to another.
I skipped Leopard and SnowLeopard - perhaps that's why I'm out of luck now

  • Elements 8 - How to view images by scrolling thru folder of file names?

After taking a large batch of pictures, I want to place them in a folder and rapidly view the full images one at a time to select which to keep and which to discard.  IN PE-8 how can I display two panes - one pane containing the image file names contained in a folder and the other pane which displays the image of the file name selected?  Using the arrow keys, I want to move through image file names one at a time while displaying the image associated with the file name in the other pane.

One method of accepting or rejecting is to use star ratings.
Select the first image and press F12 to view full screen. Press the 5 key to add five stars.
Press the right keyboard arrow to move to the next image and star or move on.
When you have finished the batch you can filter by the star rating.

  • How to view image at actual size?

I am confused by the Fireworks (CS3) image size settings. I set the canvas size at 3 inches by 3 inches, but when I measure the image on the screen with a ruler, it measures only about 2 inches across, even though the magnification setting is set at 100%. What does the size setting mean? Will the image be 3 inches wide when it is printed? How can I get the image to display at actual size?

As for ease of use, I really think it comes down to what you're used to and what makes you the most comfortable.
I personally find Illustrator much more intuitive when it comes to things like the pen tool and vector editing, and options such as Live Color and Live Paint are likewise extremely useful. However, each piece of software has its own strengths and weaknesses, and if you can use the right tool for the right situation, I think you're in a good place
As for the "set relationship" between print size and pixel size, like I said, the fundamental problem is that the "pixel" is a relative unit of measurement, primarily intended for screen output. We've already established that the 3" x 3" canvas displays at different dimensions on your monitor than it does on mine. This could be because of your display resolution setting, your monitor size, and even the physical size of the "pixel" itself on your monitor. So already we are facing problem number one—trying to determine the physical size of a non-tangible element on the screen—before we even hit the printer settings.
If you are only going to print on one printer at your home or office, and you are always going to be using the same monitor and screen resolution, you can probably work out some kind of mathematical relationship between what you see on screen and what you print. However, once you start working at higher canvas resolutions in Fireworks (to display photographic content more crisply, for instance), all of that will go out of the window. The question is whether you want to do math every time you create a canvas or draw an object.
The other issue with using Fireworks to created printed material is that Fireworks is an RGB-based program, whereas the print medium generally works with CMYK. The result is that you may find some discrepancies between the colors you see on screen vs. what you see coming out of the printer.
There are a lot of advantages to using dedicated vector-based programs for print, and Illustrator is a decent program that allows a lot of flexibility for creating work that can be used in print and on the web. However, if you still want to use Fireworks for print, keep in mind that there are some hurdles you may need to overcome that may give you some headaches in the long run. Then again, it depends on what kind of output you expect to see coming out of that printer, and whether you're ultimately happy with what you see.

  • How to view image size compared to Page size

In previous versions if you clicked the bottom left onthe frame of an image where the document size is you would get a small popup of an outline of the image size compared to the current page size. I cannot figure out how to see this in the new CS4 version. I've tried everything, help!

    Hello Heiko,
I don't know, if it is possible, but I would say,
it's not implemented yet. Maybe you can change the picture size and use then the pictures, that might be a workaround, if you can't change the height and width in VC.
