How to view only select images out of a collection of digitized slides

I have not yet purchased adobe photo software. Which version is the simplest to accomplish what I want to do and is it simple? Or do I even need photo software. I have digitized my 50 years of slides. They are in large folders on the computer. Each folder is labelled only with a time period. Each image was corrected via MS Photo Gallery and then tagged or labelled with who or what, where and when.
How can I best send them out to the children to view on their computers but with a way for them to select and view only the ones they are interested in out of the thousands. Like " Diana" or "Grand Canyon 2010". We are 75 and not very computer literate yet. We have done this once now and want to take the next step to make it a user friendly resource for our kids and grandchildren

Certainly, Lightroom or Photoshop Elements will do this. As far as I know, the freeware Picasa should be able to do this as well. If you are not very computer literate, you probably would want to start with Picasa.
If your needs are no more complicated than described above, you could also use your operating system to search for keywords. Of course, if you need other features from photo software, then your operating system isn't sufficient.

To select consecutive images click and drag the cursor over multiple thumbnails to select all at once.
To select multiple images that are randomly located hold down the Command(⌘) key and click on those images you want to select.
Or to select consecutive images from a list of images that are together hold down the Shift key and and click on the first photo you want to select and the on the last photo you want in the list.

I'm new to iPhoto and can't figure out how to import only select photos from my digital camera when I connect. It automatically brings up an option to import all on my camera, but I only want to select a few. How do I do this?

Thanks for the good information here. I had never noticed that the media readers were on the list of compatible cameras. That list does seem to be just the tip of the iceberg. Although Apple hasn't tested the SanDisk readers, others have reported that they work without a hitch. I'd be surprised if one didn't work.
FYI, it's not really a troubleshooting issue that a Canon doesn't mount in the Finder as an external drive. They just aren't designed to do that. They function as intended in iPhoto and Image Capture. However, when you want to import only selected photos into iPhoto 6, it is necessary to have the memory card mounted on the Desktop. Since some camera's aren't designed to do that, the workaround is to use a card reader. Image Capture works as well, but I don't prefer the added steps.
I viewed the iPhoto '08 tutorials, and it looked like iPhoto now allows you to select the photos directly from its import dialog. If I understand it correctly, that would be a great feature, long overdue. I won't find out for myself, though, because I have no desire to upgrade my G4 mini.

How to view only specific authentication requests in access tracker

Requirement:
How to view only "Healthy/Unhealthy" requests from a specific Webauth service.
Solution:
If we have more than one Webauth service (based on conditions such as Device type or NAS IP or posture status etc) and we need only Healthy/Unhealthy requests from a specific service in access tracker for administrative use; we need to create a custom Data filter.
Configuration:
Below are the steps to achieve the same:
Navigate to Monitoring > Data filters > Click on "Add" option to create a new filter
Specify a name on the "Filter" tab
Select the "Rule" tab to specify the unique condition (to filter the access tracker request)
Create the below conditions:
( Commonystem-Posture-Token CONTAINS Healthy )
- AND - ( Commonervice CONTAINS Windows-health-check )
5. Save this filter
Now we can use this Data filter in access tracker to only view Healthy Webauth requests from "Windows-health-check" service.
Verification
So now we can verify the output by looking at the access tracker.
At present we can see "Eight" webauth requests in access tracker. Now we want to see only Healthy web-auth request from "Windows-health-check" service.
We change the data filter to the Custom "healthy-filter" and now only see one request in access tracker as per our requirement.

Out of 20 columns user may choose n number of columns, the same number of columns i need to transfer to xls. How to export only selected columns to xls. Is it possible with Cisco MediaSense 10.5 to limit users to view only selected Phones/extensions recordings ?
For eg: A department manager must only view their department members. They must only be able to listen to the recordings from their department members. Is this possible ?

It is not possible in MediaSense natively to do this right now. You can get a Partner Add-on to enforce the demarkations. Both Calabrio and NICE offer a Search and Play add-on that can do this.

How can I view only UNSAVED images/metadata?

I rotate photos in bridge, but these metadata changes are not saved to the actual image until saved in Photoshop. If I missed saving a few photos during my initial steps, how will I know which photos still need to be saved if i can only see the modified files? I need to give final images to client and if the changes aren't saved, all the photos will be oriented wronged. is the only way to resave the entire folder with image processor? is there a way to view only unsaved files so only those need to be processed? i don't want to resave files unnecessarily - both for time's sake and for quality sake. In Lightroom there's an option to save metadata changes to file automatically. And even in Google Picasa, you can just hit save to save all modified files.
It seems there's no save button in Bridge and no way to know which files need to be saved. Can somebody help me out with this please?

and i will add that i think it's a huge flaw to not have an option to save/export files properly. sure, professionals prefer metadata because it does not affect the original. but software developers have to remember that professionals have clients. and clients need their things to work out of the box. i don't want to field technical support calls for avoidable circumstances.
(stationtwo - i feel you didn't read the orignal post; i'm really not sure where i'm losing you. do you not understand that professionals have NON-professional clients? we scan and edit family photos using Bridge and Ps to create a final product given to home users.that final product (a DVD filled with their edited family photos) needs to be compatible with all platforms OUT OF THE BOX! it's like giving someone their movie on a DVD+R which won't work in an older DVD-R player. DVD-Rs are more compatible. It's stupid to tell a client they need to buy a new DVD player. It's the professionals' job to make sure that their clients don't run into these issues. and it's the software developers' job to have the foresight to prevent compatibility issues in the first place. )

I can't reproduce your issue on Mac or Windows. Quite often when odd ball behaviour arises it's an indication that Lr preference file has become corrupt. Have you tried trashing your Lr preference file then relaunching the application? The name and location for the preference file described here Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5

How do view ONLY the selected clip?

Is the sequence marker the ONLy way to view a selected clip(s) -- along with the Play-In to Out button?
Often times, I just want to view just one clip in the timeline after I've added effects. If I don't set a sequence marker, PPro plays the entire sequence in the entire timeline of the project, which is more than what I want to view.
Is there any other way, other than setting sequence markers, to view JUST the selected clip(s)?
I thought that, intuitively, selecting a clip (or group of clips) with my pointer would by default playback ONLY the selected clip(s). But I guess not.

I used the work area bar and it did nothing. I played the clip(s) under the work area bar, but it continued playing beyond the bar. Also, when I hit Play again, it started from the beginning of the timeline, not the beginning of the clip under the bar. So, the work area bar seems to only have use when you want to preview something by rendering the tracks under the bar. Otherwise, nothing special. The work area bar is useless to me, unless someone shows me the light.

How can I import selected images from a folder instead of the whole folder in iPhoto 9.5.2?

I was trying to help my parents import some photos from a folder they have created with photos from their holiday. They only want to import select images from this folder into iPhoto. I said it would be easy and they can do it in 2 ways. First, they can drag and drop selected photos from their folder into iPhoto - and this works for them. However, more convieniently, they can click file>import to Library and then select the photos they want by going into the folder... Well that's how it works on my iPhoto '11 at least. When they showed me their screen via Skype (they are running iPhoto 9.5.2), when they click import to library, and try to go into the folder containing their photos, it imports the whole thing and there appears to be no way that they can enter the folder to select just a few photos from what I could see.
Does anyone know anything aout this problem?

I am displaying in the below tableview the data from the SFLIGHTS tables in the tableview using flow logic. It displays all the columns in the database table. How can I set in the code to display only selected columns and not all columns.
Also, in these columns displayed I want to make the key columns of SFLIGHT as non editable and the rest of the columns in SFLIGHT editiable. Can you please kindly share the code to implement this.

How to view the employee image in Selfservice?

Hi firends,
I'm trying to view the employee image in Selfservice.
The idea is the following:
- When we enter in Preferences Menu --> Person Search Menu
- Then Customize for HR User --> Level : Responsability
(we choose a responsibility associed to Preferences) and then, inside the "advanced properties" for the columns we can associate an URL to the column we want...
- The idea is to associate an image (photo) to the employee number.. so we could use an url link to the blob column stored in fnd_lobs if the employee image would be stored as an attached document for the employee... or... a link to show the image column (lon raw) in per_images table... (I think this would be more difficult)
What I don't know ... how to do is how to show the image.. (how to build the url through the customization of the fnd_gfm.get procedure....
Another doubt in relation with that is..
When we show the image stored as an attachment in fndattch form, the internet explorer opens with the url
http://my_domain:8000/pls/my_project/fndgfm/fnd_gfm.get/42387354799/423868/fnd_gfm.jpg
the last number: 423868 is the file_id in fnd_lobs but... how about the other? how is it generated? Have this some relation with the problem to show with download_blob....?

the "Employee Directory" shows you the photos by default. Should not be that hard to add an url via personalizations that points to that directory.

Simple question, I hope, but I've got more tracks on my iTunes than I can fit into my iPhone and I would like to be able to see how much memory my selected tracks take up, in total, not just by artist, before I try to sync.
Is there anyway of viewing all selected tracks in iTunes?

Create a new playlist using the command File > New Playlist. Drag the selected tracks into it. Open the playlist and look at the bottom to see the number of tracks, total size, and playing time.

How to view only Inbox emails, Tour w/ enterprise

hi all, new to BB here,
i have a Tour, syncing via enterprise (outlook exchange), and BB is showing all my saved email folders, which is awesome. but, in initial email view, i see all messages, both inbox and from saved email folders.
i can *manually* go to 'view folders', select inbox, and see only those emails. but, i'd have to do that everytime i go to look at my email, can't seem to find a way of making that the default view. it's driving me a little nuts. i use my inbox to store unanswered/to-do emails, everything else i save. so i'm seeing messages that i think i already responded to and filed, but have to check which folder that message is stored in, in order to make sure...
any help?
