How to view other devices connected to router

I can see how many devices are connected to my router at any one time, but how do I see which devices are connected?
Thanks!

For the E1000 V2 the only way to know what devices are connected to your network is thru the DHCP clients table only. It will show you the mac address or ip address of the devices that are currently connected to the network. If you are using the cisco connect software it will only show you the number of devices connected but will not be able to give you detailed information. If you check parental controls, it will allow you to select computers only since those are the only devices recognized by the software.

For the Internet, you should set up a router on your modem, this router will route the packets to any device on the local area network.
If you use the iMac as a router, like if you connect the Ethernet cable from your modem to the iMac, then broadcast a Wifi signal, the iMac will have to remain on all the time, at full power. Thus drastically shortening it's lifespand.
A router is only about $100 or so, offers much better security as it's like a large guard, someone has to hack through router first to get your iMac or other devices.
If it breaks, you buy another 5 years later for another $100, so your not placing all that always on wear and tear on your expensive iMac.
Apple's airport routers are pretty good, easy to set up and have automatic firmware updates, plus music sharing etc.
Set up properly you will be very secure

  • How to block mobile devices connected to internal Wi-Fi networks on Lync 2013

How to block mobile devices connected to internal Wi-Fi networks on Lync 2013.
we don't have lyncdiscoverinternal.contoso.com and lyncdiscover.contoso.com in internal DNS record, all mobile users are connecting from Internet, and we want it to be that way.
So if I create the lyncdiscoverinternal.contoso.com record for Windows desktop clients autodiscover, how do I block internal mobile users from connecting to Lync??
    Praveen | MCSE Messaging 2003

    Hi Praveen,
Based on my experience, one way to achieve this purpose you need to use the Reverse Proxy that is integrate with a Firewall (e.g. TMG 2010 , F5, etc…).
Please have a look at the following picture.
    In Lync Server 2013,
both the internal Mobility Service URL and the external Mobility Service URL are associated with the external Web Services FQDN.
From the above picture, if you use a reverse proxy that is
separate from the firewall, then the hairpin will be created,
and cause the mobile client which connected to the internal Wifi will be able to
access the external interface of the Reverse Proxy.
In this situation, the mobile client which from Internet will not be effected.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • How to find hard drives connected to router on my mac

how to find hard drives connected to router on my mac

    Hello Thatguy1233,
It sounds like you have a Time Machine back up of your computer that you would like to restore. You may be able to use the following article to restore that backup:
OS X Lion: Recover your entire system
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph4351
Make sure your Time Machine backup disk is connected and turned on. If your backup disk is on a network, make sure your computer is on the same network.
Choose Apple menu > Restart, and then hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys while the computer restarts.
Select “Restore from a Time Machine Backup,” and then click Continue.
Depending on your type of backup disk, do one of the following:
If you use an external disk, select it and click Continue.
If you use a Time Capsule, choose your AirPort network from the AirPort menu on the right side of the menu bar, and then select your Time Capsule and click “Connect to Remote Disk.”
If you use a network disk, select it and click “Connect to Remote Disk.”
If necessary, enter the name and password you use to connect to your backup disk, and then click Connect.
Select the date and time of the backup you want to restore, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
After you restore your system from a Time Machine backup, Time Machine may perform a full backup at the next scheduled backup time. This is normal. Time Machine resumes incremental backups after the full backup is completed.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • I phone 5 will not connect to wi-Fi unless very close to router. It has I. The past. All other devices connect effortlessly

Hello.  My I phone 5 will no longer connect to my home wi-Fi unless very close to the router. No problems in the past. All other devices find & select wi Fi no problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

What you described sounds like a part of the iPod antenna system which looks like a gold ribbon.  I don't recommend that you try to effect any repairs yourself.  You would be best off taking it to Apple where you may be able to exchange it for an alike model. The price is 99USD for all 4th gen models, except the 64gb which will cost 199USD.

  • Guidelines on connecting a MacBook Pro to a TP-Link router? All other devices connect except this.

    Hi
I've set up a new TP-Link router and range extender. I can connect with all of my other devices but not my MacBook Pro, which is the main device I like to use in the house. Can anyone give me guidelines please? There seems to be a problem with the IP. The TP guidelines advise to set automatically but this doesn't seem to be an option. It's so frustrating! I've gone back to my old Belkin but it seems such a waste as I can't get a refund on the new products.
    Thanks.

The iMac connects to the router AP with no problem, but not the nano router when it is set to AP.
I can't figure out what this means.

  • HT1430 How do I make sure there are no other devices connecting to my icloud?

There's no way to check that as far as I know. Does anyone else have your Apple ID password? If so, change it.

  • Names of devices connected to router

How can I tell the names of the devices that are connected to my E2000 router? Cisco connect says I have 4 devices connected but I only have 3. I am trying to figure out where the 4th device is coming from.

Cisco says I have 40 and I only have 4, huge difference. maybe because when I first installed my linksys. I called company for help and got some guy calling himself shibo and he hacked my computer and will not leave my router nor my computer. I have tried for 8 months to get rid of him, but he hacked into my dos. and as long as I remain with cisco linksys  he is going to be on my router hacking my stuff. I think this company should not hire foreigners to maintain the business. I talked to cisco headquarters and they could not do anything, they just suggest that I ask for american based help only...so everyone. please beware!!
Hi! Where were you able to see the 40 devices connected to your network? Have you tried powering off your router and see if it shows the same number of devices connected to your network?

  • My ipad2 has lost wifi connectivity at adistance while all other devices connect to new wifi.

After getting new wifi network, my ipad2 loses connectivity unless it is right beside the router. All other devices have good wireless connectivity.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • My email account in Mail.app is IMAP, but when I delete emails, they don't delete from other devices connected to the mail server with IMAP. Deleted mail on other devices delete as normal from the server and thus from other devices as normal.

MacBook Pro, late 2011 version. Up to date Mountain Lion.
My email account in the Mail.app is set up as IMAP, but when I delete emails in the Mac Mail App, they are not deleted from the mail clients of the other devices that are connected to the mail server with IMAP. IMAP works perfectly between Windows Outlook 2010, iPad Mail App and Android default mail client. Deleted messages behave correctly, as in delete from one device and the mail is deleted from all devices.
Having just tested in reverse order on the Mac; emails deleted from the email client on Windows, iPad and Android are not deleted in the Mac Mail App.  It appears that the account is behaving like POP rather than IMAP.
Any advice on how to have IMAP work correctly on the MacBook Pro Mail.app?
    Thank you.

Hi Csound1, thanks. The email host is 1and1.co.uk, however, i am going to fess up and make myself look like a plonker now -
the email account in question was set up in Outlook as POP - stupid, stupid, stupid me, wasted an afternoon on this!  I have now changed the Outlook account to IMAP and Mail.app works perfectly - and looks much nicer than Outlook did.  Im in the middle of converting from Windows to a Mac, and still finding my way around the Mac
The lesson learned, never assume - always double  check!  All my other email addresses with 1and1 are all imap, except this one, and it happened to be the first one I set up in the Mail.app. (bows head in disgrace!)
Thank you anyway for attempting to help me!
    Cheers
