How to view Outlook for Mac .olm file?

I am getting rid of MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9.3) where I used Outlook for Mac.
I exported mail, contacts, calendar, tasks, and notes into an .olm file.
How can I view this .olm file on my new Mac Air (OS X 10.9.3) where I have no Widows applications?
I am not keen on importing this .olm data into for instance Apple Mail. I just want to be able to view/search the file for contacts or emails.

Hello
I don't have Outlook 2011 but only guess here.
Generally speaking, AppleScript's "whose" filter is very limited and does not support list containment test. So perhaps you'd have to resort to something like the following script, which actually scans the events for test.
tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
    my events_with_categories({category "Conference"})
end tell
on events_with_categories(cats)
list cats : list of categories to be matched
return list : list of calendar events whose categories contain every item of cats
    script o
        property ee : {}
        property cc : {}
        tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
            set ee to calendar events
repeat with e in my ee
                set e to e's contents
                set cc to e's categories
                set _match to true
                repeat with c in cats
                    set c to c's contents
if c is not in my cc then
                        set _match to false
                        exit repeat
                    end if
                end repeat
if _match then set end of my ee to e
            end repeat
            return my ee's contents
        end tell
    end script
    tell o to run
end events_with_categories
Notes.
* Script is not tested.
* IF this works but is too slow, we may try to speed it up by retrieving categories of events (list of lists) in one statement, by which we can dramatically reduce the total number of Apple Events to send.
Good luck,
H

  • How to filter Outlook for Mac calendar events by category using AppleScript

    Hi all --
I'm trying to write an Applescript on OSX to filter Outlook for Mac 2011 calendar events based on event categories, e.g. find all events tagged as "Conference". For example, I have a calendar event named "WWDC" that is found by the following script:
    tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
set theCategoryConference to first category whose name is "Conference"
set theConferenceList to every calendar event whose (subject is "WWDC")
display dialog "There were " & (count of theConferenceList) & " Conferences."
set theEvent to item 1 of items of theConferenceList
display dialog "Categories contains conference: " & (categories of theEvent contains {theCategoryConference})
    end tell
The above finds 1 event, and the final line displays "true" as this event has been tagged with the Conference category.
However what I really want to do is find all such events. The following fails to match any events:
    set theConferenceList to every calendar event whose categories contains {theCategoryConference}
ThIs seems to me like it should work, but returns 0 matching events. Is there a different syntax to use, or is this a limitation of Outlook for Mac that perhaps doesn't allow filtering events based on a nested collection (the categories attribute on calendar event objects)?
    Thanks!
    Ramon

  • How to sync Outlook for Mac 2011 calender with iCal

I am currently running IOS 10.6.8.
I use Outlook for Mac 2011 and I have been having problems syncing my appointments with iCal.
I have outlook set up correctly in the preferences to sync all calendars but this does not appear to happen.

Here's some screen grabs of the settings I use. I do not use the online iCal calendar. My iphone is synced to outlook and the local ical calendar hosted on my laptop.
I can enter and receive/accept appointments using any of these three calendars and they all update and sync.
The calendar called "No category" is my outlook calendar.
If I enter any appointments they have to be entered on the calendar called "work" on my laptop and phone – otherwise outlook does not pick them up.
As demichae said in his post above "Outlook doesn't see the stuff in iCal" – at least the online iCal stuff.
    It's not very straightforward.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to view my family share calendar in outlook for mac 2011 (ical)

    Hey All
    Problem:
Want to view my family share calendar in outlook for mac 2011.
Want to have them sync on the fly (push)
Currently running 2 exchange mailboxes which have their own mailboxes and calendars which you can toggle between.
For the PC this is a relatively straight forward task.. You can add an additional calendar to outlook and you are away. Wife's PC can view her own personal exchange calendar and on a separate tab she can view, edit, print etc the family share calendar.
For outlook for Mac, I've tried a few work arounds and none of them actually work, all the Apple documentation available doesn't really cover this.
Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers

    Hi,
According to your description, I notice that Outlook for Mac for Office 365 cannot open shared calendar.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Which account are you used, Exchange account or Microsoft account?
Would you please login OWA and test to open this shared calendar?
Outlook for Mac cannot open the shared calendar which is a sub-calendar, you have to ask calendar owner share all calendars under the default "Calendar" folder.
More details about it, for your reference:

  • How to sync Address Book TO Outlook for Mac 2011

I am using the native Address Book from Mac OS 10.7.5 and need to keep using it because it syncs with my iPhone. However, I am using Outlook for Mac 2011 and want the contacts to synch from Mac Address Book to Outlook's contact list.
Synch services have been turned on in Outlook.
Originally, I was going to switch to Mac Mail but discovered that importing mail from Outlook is a headache (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2664208?start=0&tstart=0). Outlook works well and has for years so rather than going through a bunch of manual drag and dropping of folders to make mbox files, or buying software to do it, I thought getting the contacts to synch would suffice since that's all that's really needed.
What I discovered is that Outlook will feed new contacts to Mac Address Book when they are generated in Outlook but the Mac Address Book does not feed new contacts to Outlook if they were generated in Address Book. Is this even possible? If so, how?
    Thanks,
    Karen
I read this previous thread but it talks about contact info going FROM Outlook to Address Book instead of the other way around: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2664208?start=30&tstart=0

I've got Outlook up and running just fine.  Still have the problem with getting duplicate emails but I'm waiting on MS to get a fix for that in an update.  Apparently that has been an ongoing issue.  I've been in contact w/ a senior MS Outlook tech on that.  I guess I'll just have to make sure that all contact adds/edits are done in Outlook.  Then I can sync my phone or iPad and get the cloud to update the other Apple devices off that sync.  Either that or figure out how to export from the Mac address book to the Outlook address book once in a while.

  • My avast! antivirus software is identifying two Trojan viruses on my MacBookPro (Max OSX 10.7.5) that seem to be related to my Outlook for Mac.   An example of one of the file names is:  /.MobileBackups/Computer/2014-06-22-151618/Volume/Us

My avast! antivirus software is identifying two Trojan viruses on my MacBookPro (Max OSX 10.7.5) that seem to be related to my Outlook for Mac.
    An example of one of the file names is:  /.MobileBackups/Computer/2014-06-22-151618/Volume/Users/stevekreitner/Documents /Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Main Identity [Backed up 2014-06-22 12.48.35]/Data Records/Message Attachments/0T/0B/0M/9K/x26_9605.olk14MsgAttach
Any suggestions on how to locate and remove these virsues?

Actually, you can delete the entire Main Identity folder for Outlook that has a backup date in brackets [xxx] as part of its name since that was created when you used the Microsoft Database Utility to rebuild your email database. The folder that is only named Main Identity is the one in use. The other is now nothing.
That should be true but sometimes users are in the wrong Identity. Outlook 'forgets' what is supposed to be the main default Identity and opens in the wrong one. You need to check the database file in the Identity to see date modified to know for sure.
Typically, after rebuilding you delete the rebuild after a bit when you are satisfied with the rebuild. There should only be one Identity in the Identities folder. However, most users don't understand what to do with the copy that is made and never deletes anything.

You can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.
*Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Adobe PDF document : Use Adobe Reader
PDF files may also be found under another entry like Portable document.

  • I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??  Thanks

I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??
Also, once I figure out how to replace iCal with Outlook/Mac on iTunes, how do I synch the phone and pad so that the information on those devices over-writes onto Outlook as a backup, rather than having a blank Calendar on Outlook wipe out all of the information on the phone and pad???
    Thanks

If you haven't tried already, plug your devices into iTunes, and on each device next to the "Summary" tab at the top is another tab called "Info." Click that and scroll down to Contacts, Calendars, etc. There should be a pull down bar under each category for "Sync contacts from..." and you should be able to select from that pull down list Outlook.  Hit Apply at the bottom and see if that does it.

  • Imac is 4 months old.  Using installed Outlook for Mac 2011 but now want to use ical so that I can start to use iCloud to sync with my Ipad2 and iPhone.  How do I move my calendar from outlook to ical on the iMac?

This is my first attempt at using this forum so please be patient with me.  I am new to the apple world.  Bought an Imac desktop computer back in October and installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 because I was used to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and outlook.  Now I am being told that I should be using ical for my calendar so that I will be better able to move to icloud for use between my Imac, Ipad2, and Iphone.
The question is:  how do I move my calendar which is in "Outlook for Mac 2011" into ical on my Mac?  Do I have to remove the Outlook entries from the computer and reinstall them back to the same machine or can I somehow move calendar entries within the machine?  I appreciate any help I can get.  Thanks.

I also already deleted my phone number from iMessage on my MBP.

  • Additional file size is added to my PDF when attaching it to an email in Outlook for Mac 2011

I'm generating PDFs from Adobe Pro X. I have a 7.23MB PDF file that becomes a 9.8MB PDF file when attached to an email.
I'm trying to keep the file size as small as I can - why is the extra size added to the PDF?
I'm on an IMac, using Outlook for Mac 2011 and Adobe Acrobat Pro X/Indesign CC to generate the PDFs.  This isn't an isolated issue, it happens when I attached word documents as well and is extremely annoying!
Looking forward to hearing from anyone out there (desperately!)

  • How do I change the Attribution font size for Outlook for Mac

    Outlook For Mac assistance.
I have gone into the settings menu and properly set up my font and style for correspondence (Preferences-Fonts), the issue I have is that when I reply or forward a message, the Attribution (To, From, Subject,
Date) etc... from the sender defaults to a much larger 24 size/ Verdana.  I can manually highlight and then change this to match my settings of a 16 - Calibri but this is a hassle.  I have tried to alter this via the Preferences for E-mail (Composing)
and  while option three gives a Name, Date, Address option (sans the Subject) Attribution, the second desired standard option does not include font or style changes.  This is of course the HTML option which is preferable to me.
How can I set the default of option two to match my other font and/or style preferences?

  • How can i sync mac address book w/ outlook for mac 2011

Is it possible to have the address book in Outlook for Mac 2011 sync w/ the Mac address book?  I cleaned up my contacts in the Mac address book expecting the changes to show up in my outlook address book.  Made over 200 changes that did not show up on the Outlook address book.  Seems like there should be a way to make this work.  If I add contacts from within Outlook, I'd like them to show up on all my devices.  MacBook Pro, iPhone, and iPad.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm new to this platform as I was a PC guy for the last 30 years.
