How to view / play old Director / Projector presentation files?

I have a multimedia presentation on CD from 1997 with both Windows and Mac versions of the presentation, including Quicktime 3 installation, and numerous .dir files as well as the Projector version 6.0.2. I am running on Windows XP, would also like to view this on MacOS, and Win Vista and 7. Please forgive my ignorance. Thanks for any advice.

You should be able to run the projectors on Windows without any real problems, though you may need to right-click on the projector and run it in compatibility mode. The Mac version will definitely not work on Lion, but it may work on older versions of OSX through Rosetta. Without knowing what is wrong, it is very hard to say what you will need to do to fix any problems. I suppose the 1st step is to try to run it and see what happens.

Keynote and Macbook - How to disable "play" key from starting presentation?

I use Keynote to view lecture presentations with audio running in the background from the lecturer (in Quicktime 7) or music (in iTunes 9).
As such, there are times when I need to press the play/pause keys on my Macbook Pro's keyboard since the audio may have gone past the point I've read on the slide.
In Keynote however, hitting the "Play" key starts the presentation and stops the audio in the background.
How can I disable Keynote from taking commands from the audio control keys?

Hey thanks. But, I tried.
Where I hit the wall was, trying to figure out where in the menubar of the Quicktime app I could find the menu text for Play/Pause.
There is no such thing.
I need a menu command 'text' for this Keyboard shortcuts setting (sys pref) to work.
So, because of this, I can't assign the Play command to quicktime to anything else.
The default key is the Spacebar (Play/Pause) or the F7,F8,F9 in recent keyboard setup.
For now, I just Cmd+Tab between apps when doing the transcript.
True, I could use something else for transcript and then import text afterwards.

How do i play my videos in flash file after moving SWF file to website?

Hello all,
I am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
Does anyone know how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.
Sorry if I've waffled but I'm trying to clear up my situation .

i am using the website wix, so in order to put the swf file up you just click the "Upload SWF" button, so i don't know how i could put the videos along with the swf, the swf is just sat on the page once i upload it.
second, when using this type of website do you know how i'd go about giving the website the permissions to play flv files?

i am starting tomcat by using startup.bat, in the console i can see the startupe messages, but when i execute the jsp page it throws some errors, because the window run fast i cannot see the previos errors.
how to redirect these errors in to a file ???
i tried using startup.bat > error.txt, but there it is not writing the errors.In tomcat logs also i cannot see the errrors.

Tomcat uses the log4j API. You can put a log4j.properties file in your application classpath (WEB-INF/classes/log4j.properties) and in that properties file you can redirect tomcat log output to a file. The content could be like this:

How to add 'Publisher' info in Projector (.exe) file?

The title says all about what I want to know. As you are aware that, Windows showing a security warning (as Unverified and Unknown Publisher) when we run a Projector (.exe) file. I just wanted to put something instead of showing Unknown Publisher.
I am aware that, I need to buy some certificate (digital signature) to become a Verified Publisher, but at this moment I just wanted to put something as Publisher information. Do you guys did the something before, or have any idea?

How to add an old time projector effect to a title

Hello, I want to add a date to a beginning of an old home movie film that looks like it was being projected through a projector. In other words would like to have scratches and the like show up in the date to go with the rest of the films old look. Wondering if someone could someone please point me in the right direction. No way even in 10g. You should build another DB and import your exported data.
then you can get data from this new DB.

How to view playing time of clips in Event or Project library ?

Hi
I have a 15 minute video and I want to extract clips say at 1:15-1:37 and add to project library. (Someone has send me the times at which to extract the clips)
I understand that clips work on frame basis rather than time basis, but still is there any way I can know what time the clip is running when I press space bar or place my curser on the clips .. something like time in status bar of any media player like VLC.

Hi Adi,
You may have worked something out by now, but try the following:
From iMovie's menu select View>Playhead Info. In both the Events and Projects windows, as you skim across thumbnails you will see a black box with white text moving above the playhead. In Events, it will show just the creation date and time for each clip, which will not provide the information you need. However, in Projects, the box will show the elapsed time as well as the time recorded (shown incrementally).
So, I would suggest that you drag the full 15 minutes to the project. Now you will be able to find the exact time for each part you need for the project. Click and drag across the first section required (say 1:15 - 1:37) so that it is highlighted with a yellow border. Now control-click (or right-click) and select "Split Clip" from the pop-up menu. Continue to do this for any other sections you need to split from the main clip (or clips).
Finally, control-click (or right-click) on all the parts you don't need and select "Delete Selection" from the pop-up menu. The clips remaining in the project will be just those parts you've split from the full video.
TIP: In iMovie's menu select iMovie>Preferences and check (tick) the box labelled "Display time as HH:MM:SS:Frames". Now all times will be displayed down to the frame level.

How do I play old HyperCard programs on OSX?

One of the first electronic books was made on a Mac running System7 and HyperCard. I have a copy of this program downloaded from the author on my Mac running OS 10.5.8. I also have an old Mac LCII with HyperCard, but can not find a way to transfer the files (only floppydrive and no USB or Ethernet sockets). If I had an external floppydrive MAYBE I could put the files in there, but would the System7 formatted disc be read by OSX?
I have also attempted to convert and read the files using HyperStudio5 and SuperCard, but with no success. SuperCard converted only the stack file and couldn't manage to run the program with all underlaying files.
The electronic book is called «Iakttagarens förmåga» of the Swedish author Karl-Erik Tallmo.

Are you saying that you have an OS 7 version of HyperCard running on your MacBookPro but you want to load the book from an older computer? If so, what process did you use to load HyperCard? Are you saying that you downloaded a version of HyperCard directly to your laptop and it works just as downloaded?
If that is the case, then are you looking for a way to get the LCII online to upload the files?
Can you reveal the location of the download?

How can i manage old data on my file server that as not been used for over 2 years?

I have 4 file servers and more then 50% of the data is older then 2 years
I would like to move that data to another san, slower but i would like the user to have access by shortcut on there share
Would make it faster to backup because the drive would be 50% less big and would not affect users because they would see the same thing in there share it would just be a little lomnger to open file upon need.

How to view a report as an eps file

when i try to send a report through the email feature of reports 2.5 it gets attached as an eps file. how do i open this eps file to view the report. please also let me know whether i have to use any special tools for this.
