How to view thumbnails of open files in elements 12?

For some reason i cannot figure out how to see my open files as thumbs when editing in elements 12. I am sure it is something i am overlooking. thanks for the help.

Click where it says Photo Bin at the bottom left of the editor window. As part of Adobe's way of making PSE "easier" to use, you can't see the tool options and the photo thumbnails at the same time anymore.

  • How to increase ulimit max open files, permanently?

I have a shell script that needs to be able to receive hundreds of incoming socket connections. The default max of open files is 256. Strangely, if I run:
    sudo ulimit -n 800
...ulimit -a still shows just 256 max open files. If I become root (sudo su), then I can increase the max files to 800, but that setting only remains while I'm root user.
Anyone know how to increase the max open files setting for my regular user name, as I run scripts from the Terminal bash shell?
    ...Rene

Wow, within 2 minutes, I realized what I had to do, so in case anyone else wonders the same, here's the solutions:
Just edit the .bash_profile file in your home directory (create it if it's not already there), and add the line:
    ulimit -n 1024
Now, whenever you start terminal, that process will be able to open up to 1024 files or socket connections.

  • How to view and manage hidden files in folders.

Hi all, my question is: How to view and manage hidden files in folders?. I see hidden files in other computer but no in my Mac.
Some of you can help me?
    Thanks..

Most hidden files are hidden for a reason.   Tampering with them can seriously affect the stability of the system.
    The software Tinkertool can

Can manage the invisibility, which I would only do after backing up your system.

  • Can't open files in Elements 6

I am a new mac user - switching from windows 3 weeks ago.  Have Leopard installed on macbook pro and just bought Elements 6.  I made Elements the default editor in Iphoto, however, can't open files in Elements nor in the Bridge that came with Elements.  Also, the photos don't even show up in Bridge! Are they supposed to?  I used Elements in Windows - had no trouble.  Are Iphoto & Elements really compatible?  What am I doing wrong?

The problem is your workflow. If you use iphoto, you don't use bridge, and you should never poke around in the iphoto library from any program except iphoto, since that's a fast road to corrupting the library, which is as delicate as a gardenia about being touched by anything but iphoto.
    You have two choices:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor from iphoto in the iphoto preferences, then send your photos directly from iphoto to PSE. If you do that, Save, not Save As, without making any changes to the name or format of your photo and iphoto will keep one version + original for you. If you save another group of edits, it will replace the previous version.
    2. Export the photos from iphoto to your desktop or somewhere and then use File>Open in PSE, save the photos under new names and reimport them to iphoto as new files.
If you prefer to use Bridge, then don't use iphoto. Trying to use both is a shortcut to madness.

  • How do i view thumbnails or .mp4 files in my windows folders? for quicktime

i noticed since switching my cameras i used to be able to view thumbnail pictures of my movies.
my new computer uses .mp4 files for HD movies so now my files only show .mp4 icon instead of a thumbnail for the video.
    anyways to fix this?

According to Adobe's supported-camera list, you need at least ACR 8.1, so 7.4 is too old:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
According to Adobe's Camera Raw list, Elements 11 only works up to ACR 8.0:
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
So you have to buy PSE12 or use the free DNG Converter to convert the ORFs to DNGs that will then have enough information in them to open in your older Elements version.  You can download the latest DNG Converter near the top of this page:
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
If you need an older version due to your OS being too old, then you can download older versions from the DNG Converter section further down the page but make sure you use at least DNG Converter 8.1.

  • View Thumbnails in Open Dialog?

When you bring up a "open file" dialog, the window automatically comes up in the list view.  Once it's open, I can manually select the thumbnail view, but next time you bring it up it goes back to the list view.  I want this dialog to open with the thumbnail view selected.  Anyone know of a way to do this?

Fully agree! But LabVIEW developers are not only smart, they also able to get things done...
Quick and dirty something liike that:
LabVIEW 8.6 / WindowsXP. Not sure about Vista / 7. Too lazy to check it.

  • How to view TestStand XML results files

    Hi Gurus,
We have used TestStand to save literally thousands of test results files in the XML format. TestStand allowed us to view a specific results file immediately after a test sequence, however I can't find a way to view the XML test results files otherwise. In other words, how can I view any one of a number of TestStand-generated XML results files using TestStand or otherwise (in an appropriate format/style) ?
    Regards
    Mike V

    Hi Ray
    its version 6.0.blablabla
For some reason it doesn't find the stylesheet on the PC where its being launched from. i can fix the problem by editing the XML's stylesheet path within the xml file and putting style sheet in same directory as results, but I had to write a program to modify all the files because there were so many. Future files no problem.
On another issue, we have thousands of results files stored in XML. Now I need to do some statistical analysis on the results but extracting the fields into a spreadsheet is a nightmare, I wish i'd used text files (database ultimate goal). Any tips here?
Also, in TestStand there seems to be only one location allowable to store all results files. Ideally i want to store results files in product-specific directories, ie not put results for all UUT types in the same directory. Is this possible?
Also, how can I append the word "Pass" of "Fail" into the results file name so you can tell at a glance if a test was passed without opening the file?
    Regards
    Mike

  • How to view thumbnails in Windows XP ??

How do I view a page of ,psd thumbnails in Windows XP Pro ??   I'm using PSE 7.

If you mean viewing thumbnails in Windows Explorer, because Adobe refuses to do the right thing and supply the necessary file, you need to use a 3rd party application:
    SageThumbs is free:
    http://code.google.com/p/sagethumbs/
    FastPictureViewer is reasonably priced:

  • Viewing thumbnails of Illustrator files in Vista Explorer

At work I run Adobe Illustrator CS on Windows XP pro. When I set Windows
Explorer to Thumbnail view I get a thumbnail view of illustrator files.
On my laptop I am running Illustrator CS3 on Windows Vista. I can't figure
out how to get thumbnail views of illustrator files in Windows Explorer on
this system. Is there a way?
    Thanks,
    Richard

As I recall, AI 11 (CS) was the last version to provide thumbnail views in Explorer. A nasty conflict with Explorer, however, made it necessary for Adobe to remove the feature.
If you find yourself facing oddball problems in AI 11, such as difficulty saving or deleting files, you would be told by tech support to delete or rename the file aiicon.dll. Unfortunately, that also nukes thumbnail views in Explorer.
The recommended procedure for previewing AI files is to use Adobe Bridge instead of Explorer.

  • Developer: How can I let people open files with my program?

    Hello Everyone,
I just finished my program for the Mac, and decided to make it an application.
I used Platypus to make my program into an application. Unfortunately when I try to open a file with my program (control + click on file + open with -> other), my application is grayed out and I can't select it. I see it there along with the other applications but I can't select it like I can Mail or TextEdit.
I read somewhere I had to use XCode to let people open files with my program but I have never used XCode and I have no idea how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nick

You've posted in the wrong forum. This is the OS X Leopard Installation and Setup forum. You need to post your problem in the Developers forum. Also, since Platypus is not an Apple product, you should visit it's developers forum for assistance. The Apple Discussions is intended to assist users with problems and questions about Apple products only.
To use XCode Tools you need to install it from the Optional Installs folder on your OS X Installer Disc One. It comes with documentation. More assistance can be found at developer.apple.com.

  • How can I use the "open file" alarm on an iPhone?

In the iCal program on a Mac, I can set an alarm to open a webpage at a specified time each morning automatically by using the "open file" feature in iCal and using a .webloc file for the URL.  However, the event, when synced through iCloud, does not open the webpage on my iPhone.  Is there a way for me to use the "open file" feature on my iPhone?
If not by using the "open file" feature, is there a way (through an app or other setting) for me to open a website or a program at a specified time each morning?  Thanks!

    Hi all,
I have an iPhone 4, running the latest IOS 4.x revision.  Like many of you, I have installed 3rd party apps to replace the existing default apps from Apple in order to get improved functionality.  Chief among them is the calendar app "Week Cal".  I had already switched to my various Google calendars for my appointments exclusively.  I then made my principal Google calendar my default calendar on both my iPhone and iCal on my Mac.
The problem is that even though I deleted all local calendars on my mac and told the default iPhone Calendar app to hide all calendars, occasionally it somehow "finds" my Google calendar. Once found, the Calendar app is the one that pops up upon calendar alerts and not Week Cal.  The switch does not seem to be linked to syncing.
Question #1:  How can I tell my iPhone what my default apps are?  Do I need to do something on my Mac as well?
I'm guessing that Week Cal has some sort of setting that you use to point it to your calendar, yes?
    If so:
#1 make sure that Sync iCal Calendars is unchecked in iTunes.
#2 on your iPhone... Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > turn OFF Calendars for all accounts.
Now the iOS should no be looking to make contact with any data for Calendar.

  • How to view database core dump file

I have an Oracle server on windows 2000. Now, I found the oracle server will produce a core dump file in ..\cdump directory. But this file is only a system memory image, so it's hard to analysis the core dump reason, could you tell me how to view this file? thanks

There's no much useful information for you too see. You can create a SR with Oracle support and upload file if you want to investigate the cause of core dump. also check if there's any errors in your alert<SID>.log and core_dump_dest
