How can I get my hp eprint email address from a remote location?
I am currently away from home and need to print something for my wife. I have tested out eprint before but never tried it from a remote location. I cannot recall the email address for my printer. Is there any way to retrieve this without being at the printer? I imagine that I had to sign in to the eprintcenter website to test this so alternatively, is there a way to retrieve the email address I used to set up my eprintcenter account? I am offered a way to retrieve the password but that doesn't help much if I cannot recall my eprintcenter account's email.
Thanks,
JeffHi Epoclaen,
I see that you are trying to locate your ePrint email address. The only way this can be done would be to log into your ePrint account so it would require you to remember your ePrint log on information. The email address that's used to create an account is usually your personal email address. I would try using your personal email address to log into the account. Let me know how it goes. -
Since upgrading to LionEvery time I wake the computer from sleep mode I have to wait several minutes until the computer connects to the Internet
I have found that Lion is slower to connect to WiFi when awakening than were previous Mac OS X versions. However, the WiFi connection usually takes less than 15 seconds unless a Time Machine backup was interrupted when my computer was put to sleep. When this happens and the computer awakens, the Time Machine backup attempts to continue prior to the WiFi connection having been made. Until the Time Machine backup fails due to its inability to connect to my Time Capsule because of no WiFi connection, or I stop it manually, the WiFi connection will not occur. So if Time Machine backups are on, you may be experiencing this bug which I have reported to Apple.

Connect to Sybase SQL Anywhere from a remote location.
BH
Hi, we are running SQL Anywhere 16. Currently our client computers are connecting through ODBC. Is there a way to connect to our server from a Remote Location (over the internet)? If yes, how?
Thanks
AronHi Aron,
Is there a way to connect to our server from a Remote Location (over the internet)?
Yes, there is.
If yes, how?
You will need to supply a HOSTNAME (or direct IP) and PORT to the server running the network database server, communicating over TCP (Note: This may involve opening a TCP port on your firewall to provide a direct TCP route). For the SQL Anywhere client, this information can be set in the ODBC DSN entry as the following screenshot shows:
Note that this is unencrypted traffic across TCP/IP, by default.
If this communication is over the Internet, using an unencrypted channel directly to the database is not recommended. Instead, we would recommend that you also configure Transport Layer Security (TLS) with strong encryption enabled using a certificate (either self-signed or provided by a Certificate Authority (CA)). To do this, you need to create the certificates and then start the SQL Anywhere database server with the (private) server-side identity certificate.
Once the database server is started, you will then need to configure the client for secure communication with the public certificate. When configuring Transport Layer Security on the ODBC client, the security settings (e.g. trusted_certificates, certificate_unit, certificate_company, certificate_name) can be entered on the "Network" tab:

Accessing Computers Connected to a Time Capsule From a Remote Location
I am already able to access my Time Capsule from a Remote Location and have read/write access to the internal hard drive within the Time Capsule and the USB hard drive connected to it.
My problem is that I cannot access any shared computers or networked hard drives attached to the Time Capsule.
Suggestions are greatly appreciated. If you don't want to use Back to my Mac, you can just use screen sharing. Go into Airport Utility and go the Advanced tab along the top. Then click on port mapping. Set up a new port map to route to the iMac. When I did this, I just used the "Apple Remote Desktop" option from the drop-down menu, this pre-fills everything in for you except for the IP address of the iMac. Just pop the IP address in the field, save the new port map, and Update the TC. Now you should be able to screen share from anywhere with your MacBook Pro using the screen sharing app. The Screen Sharing app is located in /System/Library/CoreServices/ScreenSharing just drag it to the dock to keep it there. When you open it up it will ask you for a host address, just type in the IP address of your time capsule followed by the 5900 port number, for example x.x.x.x:5900 where x.x.x.x is the TC IP address.
Just make sure your iMac is set up for File Sharing, Screen Sharing, and Remote Login, and you should be good to go. Just a word of caution, when the port map is set up, anyone can use it, so set up a good password on your iMac. Also, under the screen sharing pane, click on "Computer Settings" and check both boxes and enter a password in the box. You should not need this because when you try to connect with your MBP, it should give you an option for logging in as an authorized user, in which case just use login info for a user on the iMac.
Just one last thing, if you close the Screen Sharing app and open terminal and enter:
defaults write com.apple.ScreenSharing ShowBonjourBrowser_Debug 1
then hit enter and reopen Screen Sharing, it should give you a list with all your bonjour computers and saved computers, so when you out in your IP address to connect to the iMac, make sure the box for "Add to my Computers" is checked, and it will add the IP address to the list so you don't have to put it in all the time.
Hope this helps,

I need helping configuring RDP access to my local server from a remote location on my Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall.
I have attempted to configure rdp access but it does not seem to be working for me Could I please ask someone to help me modify my current configuration to allow this? Please do step by step as I could use all the help I could get.
I need to allow the following IP addresses to have RDP access to my server:
66.237.238.193-66.237.238.222
69.195.249.177-69.195.249.190
69.65.80.240-69.65.80.249
My external WAN server info is - 99.89.69.333
The internal IP address of my server is - 192.168.6.2
The other server shows up as 99.89.69.334 but is working fine.
I already added one server for Static route and RDP but when I try to put in same commands it doesnt allow me to for this new one. Please take a look at my configuration file and give me the commands i need in order to put this through. Also please tell me if there are any bad/conflicting entries.
THE FOLLOWING IS MY CONFIGURATION FILE
Also I have modified IP information so that its not the ACTUAL ip info for my server/network etc... lol for security reasons of course
Also the bolded lines are the modifications I made but that arent working.

ciscoasa(config-network)#Unclear what did not work. In your original post you include said some commands were added but don't work:
static (inside,outside) tcp interface 3389 192.168.6.2 3389 netmask 255.255.255.255
and later you state you add another command that gets an error:
static (inside,outside) tcp 99.89.69.333 3389 192.168.6.2 3389 netmask 255.255.255.255
You also stated that 99.89.69.333 (actually 99.89.69.233, guessing from the rest of your config and other posts) is your WAN IP address.
The first static statement matches Cisco's documentation, which states that a static statement must use the 'interface' directive when you are trying to do static PAT utilizing the IP address of the interface. Since 99.89.69.333 is the assigned IP address of your WAN interface, that may explain why the second statement fails.
Any reason why you are using static PAT (including the port number 3389) instead of just skipping that directive? Static PAT usually makes sense when you need to change the TCP port number. In your example, you are not changing the TCP port 3389. -
How do I stop GoLive from changing the location of my CSScriptLib.js file?
How do I stop GoLive from changing the location of my CSScriptLib.js file?
I am making rollovers and want my CSScriptLib.js to be in the same folder as my HTML files.
Every time I edit the rollovers GoLIve recreates the path of the CSScriptLib.js to file:///Users/xxx/Library/Preferences/Adobe/GoLive/Settings8/JScripts/GlobalScripts/CSScr iptLib.js so it won't work when uploaded. I always need to edit my HTML before uploading. All I want it to say is src="CSScriptLib.js" as the default. The site file is a database that keeps track of all your assets (and much more), including the scriptLib file. As soon as the page is saved (when you use the site file and it's open) the link will be change to the correct path that will work on the server.
If you're not using the site file you might as well use a text editor, since most of GL functionality is gone. -

Can you access an external HD plugged into the Airport Extreme from a remote location over the internet?
Also can the content on the exteral HD plugged into the airport be accessed by the TV to stream content? The first question answer is yes..
The question is asked continually.. please read the methods that Tesserax wrote up so well.
See remote access tip here.
AirPort
Also can the content on the exteral HD plugged into the airport be accessed by the TV to stream content?
Unlikely .. because your TV uses a system called DLNA.. and Apple do not support DLNA in any way shape or form.. because they are fully committed to iTunes.. Apple routers have no media extensions.. unlike most other decent brands now which mostly do support multimedia.
Having said that.. you can place your video files on the external hard disk.. and play them.. but you need a player.. a real player not an apple TV which is a streamer.. eg A WD Live TV can play video files.. because it is a media player.. unlike your TV or apple TV. -

How can I remotely access my computer from a different location on Apple Remote Desktop?
I downloaded Apple Remote Desktop and am trying to access our computer at our church that is in the auditorium and work on slides for ProPresenter from my office which is on a different network. The Mac Pro, which is in the auditorium, is connected to a Netgear wireless router. I would also want to be able to have access to observe and control the screen on the Mac Pro whether I am in my office or at my house. I have tried everything from going to portforward.com, followed those instructions, did port forwarding, used ipchicken.com to get my external IP and made sure that the Mac Pro had a static internal IP address and made sure the computer had access for remote management. Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated! Works fine when it is on the same wireless network, but I need access being on a different wireless network. Thanks!
Hi austinmac14,
So the steps listed bellow assume some things. They assume that the Airport Extreme Router your configuring is connected directly to the internet connection. And that the Airport Extreme is the only router between your computers and the internet.
That means we're talking about say a DSL modem plugged directly into the Airport Extreme, or a cable modem. in ether case, this assumes that said modem, is not acting as an internet router.
If your modem has multiple ethernet ports on it, or has a little antenna sticking out of it, then your modem is probable also a router, and these steps listed bellow will probable not work.
Also these steps are so one person, can connect to one computer at your work.
Open Airport Utility:
go to the dock
Click on the finder
go to the menu bar
Click on the "Go" menu
Chose "Utilities" from the "Go" Menu
double Click on "AirPort Utility"
Access the Base Station:
Double Click on your Airport Extreme BaseStation that is your internet connection router.
a new window should pop up with your Airport Base Station as the Window Name
Configure Static Address for the computer you want to connect to via ARD:
Click on the internet Icon from the toolbar
Click on the "DHCP" tab
For "DHCP Reservations:" Click on the "+" button
For the "Description" put "ARD"
For "Reserve Address by:" set "DHCP Client ID"
Click the "Continue" button
For "DHCP Client ID:" set "ARD"
write down the number in "IPv4" address field
Click the "Done" Button
Configure routing to ARD computer:
Click on the "Advanced" icon from the tool bar.
Click on the "Port Mapping" tab
Click on the "+" button
for "Service:" Chose "Apple Remote Desktop"
for "Private IP Address:" copy the exact IP address you wrote down in step "3. 8)"
Click the "Continue" button
Click the "Done" button
Click the "+" button
For the pulldown menu "Service:" Chose "Remote Apple Events"
for "Private IP Address:" copy the exact IP address you wrote down in step "3. 8."
Click the "Continue" button
Click the "Done" button
Click the "+" button
For the pulldown menu "Service:" Chose "Remote Login - SSH"
for "Private IP Address:" copy the exact IP address you wrote down in step "3. 8."
Click the "Continue" button
Click the "Done" button
Click the "Update" button.
wait for the Airport Extreme to update, and for your computer to reconnect to the airport extreme. (make sure you can load and browse websites.)
Configure the ARD computer to use the correct IP address:
Go to the computer you want to be able to remotely connect to
On that computer, Go to the menu bar
Chose the "Apple" menu bar
Chose "System Preferences…"
Click on the "Show All" button
Click on the "Network" icon
For the active network connection, (the connection on the left side with the green dot), click on it
Clock on the "Advanced…" button
Click on the "TCP/IP" tab
for the "DHCP Cient ID: field put "ARD".
Click the "OK" button
Click the "Apply" buttonNOTE: Under "Status" you should see "(connection name) is connected to (airport base station name) and has the IP address (IP address)." the "(IP address)" address displayed should match the IP address you wrote down in step "3. 8."
Find out what your public internet IP address is.
On the computer you wish to connect to over the internet, gotohttp://whatismyipaddress.com/
when the web page loads, you should see "IP Information:" fallow by a number like 192.168.0.1, write down what ever number it is.
At this point you should be able to connect to the computer remotely
connect to the internet from another location.
open Apple Remote Desktop
go to the file menu
chose connect to computer using ip address
set the address to the address to the IP address you wrote down for step 6. 2.
use the same password as you used to connect to the computer at work using ARD.
So here the catch. If your router gets reset... well then your going to have to configure it again. Also all the same rules you have to connect to the computer at work, also apply to connecting to the computer from over the local network. That means your computer need to be on or sleeping. And if it's sleeping it need to be configure to wake for network access.
Also some network connections change. When it comes to internet connections, some connections are static IP, while other connections are DHCP. If your connection is static... great! if it's DHCP, your address may change. If it dose.. well then your ability to connect will break. And then you'd have to do step 6 & 7 again.
Of corse there are ways around this. But that's kind of another conversation.
Some internet locations may block your ability to connect to your computer at work. This is very common at schools, and companies. Basically any place that tries to control your ability to browse the internet, may block remote access to computers; because a remote computer would completely by pass their web filter.
ALSO there is an easier option. As far as setup. There are programs designed to make remotely accessing your mac as easy as possible. For instance there is LogMeIn or Slack. With both of these programs, it's simple. make sure your computer is always on. Then install the software. Create an account with the service. And then you can connect to the computer almost any where by going to their website.
This option requires no router configuration. It handles DHCP. It's designed to work in as many locations as possible. -
Wake sleeping computer from outside of LAN...?
Hello.
I use Timbuktu to remotely access my home computer from work and my work computer from home. I'd like to not have to leave my computer on at home all day, but once it's set to sleep, Timbuktu can't access it. Is it possible (via 3rd party app perhaps?) to wake a computer remotely from outside the LAN? I am able to do this from within the LAN, but this doesn't help when trying to do the same from a machine outside the LAN.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kristin. You need a router that has the ability to send a "magic" packet to a MAC address that you specify. Most new routers can't do this. The IOGEAR GWA504 wireless router can do this to a computer connected via a LAN cable but not by wireless. Very old SMC routers also had this capability. You login to the router from the WAN side and tell it to send a wake-up packet to a specific MAC address.
