How to watch Iphoto albums on a remote TV

I have aprox. 20000 photos in my Iphoto, which I only watch as albums. In the albums view I can control the sequence of the photos as I want.
Observe, I do not watch the imported event (may contain several events in same import) to see the photos, and therefore I use the Iphoto albums to separate the different events in ame import.
I have a normal Sony LCD TV (not smart TV), and have  a Mac with OS X (10.7.5) and Lion software, and i pretend to watch my photos via my local WiFi
to for example a "box" located beside my TV.
Is it possible?
Is it possible to remote control my Iphoto albums from another room, using my wireless mouse (the mouse reach the Mac from this room)?
Which Apple-equipment do I need to buy to do above?
regards
Mogens

I can basically mirror exactly what's on my mac screen on to the tv.
So your tv becomes your second monitor.
Which means you control your photos exactly as you want.
Here is a useful link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 but by the sound of it, you have to have a mid 2011 mac or later.
The only thing I haven't sussed out is how to play music during the slide show using iPhoto through the tv, which is odd because I can play music from my music library through the Apple TV using my ipad.
Make sure your wireless mouse works at your distance before you purchase. You may need someone to check the pointer is moving on the mac screen for you while your in the tv room lol.

How to export iPhoto Album in iMAC and have similar folder structure(with Timestamps) which can be viewed in finder
In simple terms, I wanted to view the photos in Windows system, similar strcture of iPhotos

If you want to copy all of your photos to a Windows machine and have them in folders representing the iPhoto Events the were in quickly and easily just do the following:
1  - open the library with the Finder as shown in this screenshot:
2 - COPY the Originals/Masters folder to the Desktop.
3 - copy the Originals/Masters folder to the Windows machine.
This will give you all of your original image file in their Event folder on the Windows machine.
NOTE:  With iPhoto 8 or newer the Event folders in the Masters folder will be titled by date (EXIF) if imported from a camera.  If imported from a folder the event folder will have the same title as the source folder.  If imported singularly or in a group without a folder the title will be a date, either the EXIF date or import date.
With iPhoto 7 (08) and earlier the Event folders in the Originals folder will have the same title as the Event has in the library.
This method would be quicker but not provide the additional metadata you might have added in iPhoto like keywords, titles, descriptions that exporting out of iPhoto with Format=JPEG and the checkboxes selected to include keywords, titles, places, etc, checked.

  • Watching iPhoto album on ATV2

I created an album in iPhoto. When I watch thru ATV2 the photos appear in a completely different order. How can I watch the album via ATV with the photos appearing in the same order as in my iPhoto album on my macbook? Many Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Apple TV/iPhoto plays slideshows in chronological order, if you want your albums to display in another order, re-order the photos in iPhoto and batch change the date to reflect the order you want.

I do not want my iPhoto album to be seen as an option for desktop & screen saver pictures. How to block it? Thanks in advance.

    You can't.
The default iPhoto Library will always show there. If there is material in your iPhoto Library that you want to hide from Mummy then put the library on an encrypted disk image, or use another library as default.

  • How to upload iPhoto albums advice

I and the wife have now got some great storage space in my iCloud account and in particular the other half  needs to upload several iPhoto albums for safe keeping whilst we are in process of moving.
Is there any method that others have used with success, that will also allow her to upload and also allow her show some of the pics on her iP4s when visiting friends etc.
I couldn't find a tutorial on this subject
    Help much appreciated,

You can't - iCloud is not for backup of your Mac nor a place for your Mac to store photos - the new Photos Application due later this year will store photos on iCloud
You can use MyPhotoStream or SharedPhotoStreams to share photos with IOS devices or with other people - https://www.apple.com/support/icloud/

  • How to order iphoto albums by date?

I have resorted my Iphoto albums over and over. They STILL rearrange themselves. What am I doing wrong? Heck.

iPhoto 1.0 did that automatically until iphoto 4 or so... it even sorted photos in dated folderes using exif data. For whatever reason a "brilliant" person in apple decided  to date the folders with the importing date, some absolutely useless. And also decided to take out the calendar feature and created the also useless events concept, which is ok for a couple of mum and dad pictures, but useless if you have thousands of pictures and hundreds of events and projects.
Aperture mimics iPhoto and missed this too for the sake of compatibility. Flickr has way better sorting capabilities in that respect than Aperture & iPhoto. In flickr you have a calendar where you see all pictures by date...  something absolutely ease to implement in both Aperture and iPhote but Apple decided not to.
Halfway Solution: Smart Folders and show date under every picture. That way if you create a Smart Folder 2012 (11) NOV: inside you will see all pictures of that month and you can spot fast the pictures shot on Nov the 10th.
This is the way a name folders and pictures:
Year (Month Number)  Month's Name 3 first letters - Day of the Week 3 first letters - HourMinuteSecond - Event Name or Activity - City - Country
    2012 (11) Nov Sun 13h23m34s - 11 Apostoles - Great Ocean Road - Victoria - Australia
I've being naming my pics this way for the last 10 years and I spot instantely where I have take every picture just reading the name. You can use IPTC and Aperture or other rename app.
    I name folders like this:
Year (Month Number)  Month's Name 3 first letters - Event or Activity o Proyect
    2012 (11) Nov - Event or Activity o Proyect
Using Month Number sorted folders and pictures by date.

  • How to combine iPhoto albums to make 1 book

I have 7,000 pics from a recent trip. In my iPhoto Library, I created iPhoto albums for each location, e.g. Paris, Croatia and have arranged all the photos in each album in a certain order.  I am now creating a Book and I while I have noted previous discussions that one cannot merge two books I was hoping that there was another fix to this by being able to merge ALBUMs when making the book without losing the order of photos.  I tried it but when I merged the photos in Album 2 (say Croatia) with Album 1 (say Paris), the order in which Album 2 photos are arranged is not followed when the photos are copied into Album 1 - thus necessitating spending hours rearranging the photos again
Alternatively, is there a way for iPhoto to add photos to a Book other than the original album used? SO say I create a book using Album 1.  I went to my Album 2 and copied all the photos and dragged them into the Book but they do not appear.  On book mode, i clicked on Photos and then Show -- but it only shows photos from the Project and photos like last 12 months, last Import -- not ALBUMs.
    thanks in advance

Order is an issue - photos in book project I believe are displayed in date order
Adding photos is trivial - drag them to the book project in the source pane on the left

  • How to move iphoto albums or slideshows from one computer to another

I have iphoto running both on my desktop ('08 = 7.1.5) and on my laptop ('09 = 8.1.2). The libraries contain a lot of the same images but they are not identical (and I don't want them to be). I create albums or slideshows or books on each of my machines and would like to then transfer them to the other one for keeps - without replacing the albums etc. in that library. How do I do that?
Sorry if this is a dumb question that's been dealt with many times. I couldn't easily find an answer.

You can move albums and their photos between libraries but not books, slideshows, cards, etc. So you will have to recreate those items in the other library.
If you are able to get the library with the books, etc. up to speed as far as having all of the photos from the other library you can then copy that full library to the other computer so you will have the book and other keepsakes in both libraries.
I suggest to create a separate library for the book and copy it between Macs as needed. It will be small enough to make the copying process quicker. You can add additional photos to the book library as needed from either of your other libraries.
This tutorial may be of some help if you decide to go that route: Old Toad's Tutorial #9a - Archiving an iPhoto 7(08)/8(09) Book for Editing and/or Ordering at a Later Date.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
NOTE: this is not the same as routinely backing up your entire iPhoto library folder to protect your photos. It only protects the loss of your organizational efforts that the database file contains.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • How to transfer iPhoto album from Mac to iPhone?

    Hi all,
I hadn't done this in a while and now that I have Mountain Lion (10.8.3) I can't find the solution as before.
    Really simple:
I built a modest photo album in iPhoto and now I want to upload it to my iPhone.  Before, you were able to select 'sync' and it would do it, but that's not an option, or at least I don't see it.  How can I upload a completed album to my iPhone?
Better yet, how can you upload a video from iPhoto on the Mac to the iPhone?  You can't 'share' it with PhotoStream because it won't accept video.
    Thanks much,
    SHM

Open iTunes with the iPhone connected.  Go the Photos section for your iPhone and check the Sync Photos from checkbox and clik on Selected Albums radio button.
Then select the album you want to sync to your iPhone.

  • HT6378 How to copy iPhoto albums to iCloud Photo Library?

I have several years of photos in my iPhoto library.  How do I copy these into iCloud Photo Library, retaining all my albums?  I don't want to just copy all the photos without keeping my organization.

After having upgraded all devices to latest version, I wonder how do you get now the Mac iPhoto library into iCloud Photo library? iCloud Photo Library setting has been enabled on all devices.
iPhoto on your Mac is not supposed to work with iCloud Photo Library. The new "Photos" app for the mac will be able to do it. The release of this app  has been announced for "Early next year".
For now, only your mobile devices can upload to iCloud Photo Library.  So you have to upload your photos to the mobile devices to get them into iCloud Photo Library Beta.
That is not easy, because you cannot upload from your iPhoto library to your iOS 8 devices using iTunes with  iCloud Photo Library Beta enabled on the device. It will disable syncing photos with iTunes. As long as you are using  iCloud Photo Library Beta, mail the Photos to your devices or upload using Photo Stream.

  • How to import iPhoto album from CD (not entire library)?

I am trying to set up a workflow where multiple people in multiple cities can export an album from iPhoto and send the CD to me. Once I receive it, I'll import it into my iPhoto library. I would like to import it directly in to Aperture though. What is the best way to do this?
Should I import into iPhoto then have my library linked to Aperture or should I keep everything in Aperture? I do not need to edit -- only catalog based on the keywords each person attaches to each photo. I don't think that exporting the photos by themselves (instead of the album they are in) gives me the comments field so I would lose the comments. That is why I need the entire album instead.
I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Terence,
Yes, they are using v7. The thing is, since I posted the question, I found that doing an album burn (not a file export) will save the data, but in a file other than the image file. When you mount the CD you just burned to in iPhoto, the data shows up in the comments field. When you import the data though, the comments don't get imported.
I found a third party utility called iPhoto Library Manager that takes care of this. It allows you to do a lot of stuff like imports, library merges, etc. that iPhoto doesn't do. Very handy little app, but I think iPhoto should at least allow you to import an album from another system with all the info intact (especially since it exports it into the xml file included with the photos).

Have you used the built-in migration plug-in? I'm not sure how LR handles iPhoto albums or events. there have been several reports indicating varying levels of success or otherwise, with import.
