You can't download directly to an iPad.
You have to download on a PC and sync through iTunes.
They have to comply with these specs:
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG‑4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • How to watch flash movies on ipad

how do you watch a flash movie on the ipad

Perhaps your first post?  If you bothered to look through this forum, you'd have seen several posts on this topic.  But to answer your question, Flash is not supported on any iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod).  There are 3rd party apps you can try to use from the App store, but they work with limited success......

  • How can I watch mp4s on my ipad

I have a lot of training videos on my pc and want to watch them on my ipad when traveling. How do I get them moved over? Thanks.

If they are in a suitable format then you should be able to add them to your computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library. You can then try syncing them by connecting your iPad and selecting it on the left-hand sidebar of iTunes, and on the Movies tab on the right-hand side of iTunes selecting them and seeing if they sync over to the iPad's Videos app - if you get a 'not supported' message when trying to sync them then try doing File > Create New Version > Create iPad Version (Advanced > Create iPad Version if you aren't on iTunes 11) and see if those versions then sync over.
If you want to copy them into a third-party videos app then how you do so will depend upon what the app supports e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via your wifi network etc.

  • Anyone know how to reliably rent movies on iPad?

I'd like to be able to rent a movie on the iPad and watch it on the iPad.  Seems straightforward but the following two scenarios happen way too often for me:
Rent the movie and it downloads.  Then while on a plane (travel a lot for work) I tap on the movie, movie pops up, and then the app crashes.  No movie.  Purchased/downloaded movies play just fine, just not the rental I rented for this 10 hour flight.  Rental seems to work if I get back on WiFi but of course that's not always an option while I'm at 30,000 feet.
Attempt to download a rental.  I rent the movie, enter my credentials, the movie downloads for 20 minutes, and then it gets to processing.  Processing fails, and then the movie is stuck in a weird limbo state where it doesn't show up in downloads, shows up as a gray square in my Videos> Rentals, and when I try to download/watch it says "You rented this but it download, go to your downloads section" which doesn't exist.
So does anyone have a bullet proof method to fix these issues that doesn't involve Apple?  I try logging out of the store and iCloud in settings, restarting the iPad, but that doesn't do it. Usually I end up contacting Apple support and they sometimes can reset something on their end, but they don't always know how to do that.  And here I am about to get on a plane in 5 hours with the same issue. Pretty frustrating.
    Thanks

Never mind. It was under audio calls. Silly!

  • HT5085 Cannot watch purchased movies on iPad

For my country, iTunes iCloud doesn't support movies. Currently, I'm not able to watch my purchased movies on iPad (suddenly something went wrong and they're visible, but unavailable...). How can I have my them back? Thanks

    Greetings Shamshin,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to watch previously purchased movie on your iPad without being connected to a Wi-Fi network. In this situation, I would suggest reading over the attached article that explains how to download your movies from the cloud so that they are on your iPad locally and will not require Wi-Fi. If these are the steps your are already going through and you are still required to be connected to a Wi-Fi network, please let me know.

  • How i can put movies on ipad

how i can put movies on ipad

    Hey
You need to add them to your iTunes Library on your pc/mac, and then sync to your iPad. Of course it has to be a format that the iPad recognizes
    "http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/"
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
A great program for changing the video format, is Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) (both for mac/pc), and its even free ! It comes with a preset for iPad video, and it can rip almost any dvd for most devices.

  • Watching Rented Movies on Ipad

How do I transfer a rented movie from Itunes that is currently on my PC Desktop to my Ipad so that I can watch the movie on my Ipad?

Yes, if you rent and download it on your Mac then you can watch it on the Mac or the iPad - if you rent and download it directly on the iPad then you can only watch it on the iPad : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1415

  • In the middle of watching downloaded movie and ipad froze wont turn off

Question?? In the iddle of watching dowloaded movie Ipad froze - will not do anything - time frozen, movie frozen. Cannot turn off - nothing. Help!!

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Trying to connect Digital AV Adapter to watch a movie from iPad to TV.  Asking to disconnect AirPlay and mirroring.  No button to do so.  Is this a result of the new iOS update?  Anyone have a solution?

Trying to connect my Digital AV Adapter to watch Netflex or Amazon Prime movie from IPad to TV and asking to disconnect AirPlay & mirroring.  I do not have Air Play and there is no way to do this.  Anyone have a solution?  Is this a result of the new iOS update?  Thank you.

Try looking in the control panel by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

  • How to watch purchased movies on laptop.

Trying to watch movies I've purchased on my laptop.  It asks me to load Microsoft Silverlight which I did but still not working.  I can watch via app on ipad but would like to watch on my lap top too.
    Can anyone help?

You could get a mini DVI to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable to connect your Macbook Pro to your HDTV. Kinda like this one:

  • How to convert MP4 movie to dvd burn ready disc image?

I have a 15 minute MP4 movie (640x480, non-copy protected) that I'd like to save as a dvd burn-ready disc image. (This was a photo slideshow that a friend made into a movie on OneTrue Media. I don't want to add anything else to it, no chapters, additional files etc -- just save as a disc image that can be posted on my idisk public site for a few friends to download and burn to dvd if they wish). How can I do this the easiest way with iDVD?

    Welcome to the forums.
You're almost there. Pull the video into iDVD (mp4 isn't the best format for DVD conversion but it should work) and use the Save As Disc Image command to create your image file (set preferences to Best Performance first).

  • Can I plug my iPad into my TV and watch a movie from iPad

If I download a movie from iTunes to my iPad, can I connect my iPad to the TV (flatscreen LG that is internet accessible) and watch the movie. In the same question, can I see my iPad on the TV in general when hooked up?
I didn't want to hook it up and try with fear of damaging my iPad.

As Rudegar pointed out, the AV cable is an adequate option. But another option is to purchase an Apple TV. That's the only way to use Airplay from an iOS device (for now). I'm pretty sure no OEM TV's support Apple's Airplay technology as of yet. Apple wants you to purchase the Apple TV so don't hold out hope that they'll license the tech to TV manufacturers any time soon.
Check out Apple's demo of Airplay on their website and see if that's an option you might like. The AV cable is cheaper but IMO a cable of any kind is a cumbersome work around. And the Apple TV allows you to also play music and look at your pictures from any iOS device as well.
Re: your other question: "Can I see my iPad on the TV in general when hooked up?". The answer is, "Not yet". Only the "output" (IE: music, video, slideshows) can be seen through Airplay or the AV cable. You can't use the TV as a second monitor for your iOS device.
Lastly, you can't "break" your device simply by trying to hook it up to your TV. I had the same issue with my father this holiday with trying to convince him he couldn't break his camera by trying to hook it directly up via the USB connector on the TV.

  • Transfer mp4 movies from iPad to iPad bypassing PC or Mac

Is it possible to transfer my own mp4 movies stored under Video app from one iPad to another iPad while away from home pc or Mac? I tried three apps: Feem Wifi file Transfer free, Instashare - transfer files the easy way, FileMaster File Manager and Downloader without luck because they only look at camera roll.

As far as I know the only way to get content from the Videos app on one device to another device is via a computer (except for iTunes purchases which you can potentially download on the second device) - the only apps that I know about are like the ones that you mention i.e. they can only see the content of the Photos app, not Videos
