web db with linux red hat 6.0 and oracle 8 ????

I have the 2.05 release running on 6.1 redhat with 8i EE database. I couldn't run the install but in the support folder there are instructions for manually installing WebDB which more or less works.
Make sure you change your initora files to allow for more than 20 roles and make your tools tablespace large enough (mine is 100M).

As Bobby said, you need to install the SAPGUI for JAVA to access the SAP R/3 from your linux machine. The software is available in the following path,

Anyone able to give simple 'how to install' instructions for linux ?

I have a G5 1.8 with 3GB RAM; 80/160 internal SATA drives (the 160gb hd has 2 partitions and one with nothing on it) as well as a Lacie external 320 GB firewire drive. The empty partition on the 160gb drive has been created for Linux (if it ever gets installed).
I need to know where I can get a copy (I dont have a preference for any type yet-whatever works for a computer that is just used by me- as I just want to get started); How specifically to install it (I dont know anything about linux except I have heard about it's ease of use and how anyone can install it-except me it seems-I literally don't have a clue how to do it). Please leave out the geek speak (lol or at least just make it understandable for a someone who's pretty much a 'non-geek').
Thanks so much everyone. This has been a 3 month long odyssey for me with everyone I do ask giving me wildly different answers. As I say I have no idea how to do this and just want to get started.

There are a few choices for Linux, but there are some peculiarities when it comes to PPC Macs.
I'll give you this article on Ubuntu Linux which has some general discussion.
Anyhow, Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) may be a good version. Check Here.
For Ubuntu, download the software and burn to CD.
Insert the CD into the computer, and, after opening, there should be a screen asking you whether or not you want to run the Live CD. Select Live CD. After loading, the default Ubuntu desktop will show. Once you get to the desktop,select the icon for the full installation of Ubuntu.
Note that you need to install Ubuntu on the primary system disk.

i have downloaded Oracle 11G R2 for Linux and my host OS is Ubuntu. After unzipping the downloaded file i got
1. response folder,
2.upgrade folder and
3.oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64.rpm file.
My host OS Ubuntu is 64 bit, and i have downloaded Oracle 11G R2 64 bit for Linux.
But i am unable to use that database. Please help how to use that !

Your download does not appear to be correct, I would expect a much different result from unzipping.
I would check this out and follow it to the letter if I were doing it :

How to Use JNI for linux based C programs

I am doing my project in JAVA for my Institute. There is a Central server. All the API's have written in C. The C APIs are Linux based.
The problem is getting records from the database through API.
I tried the Java Native Methods. I am able to do that in console with out problem. Since my project is web based I want to fetch the records through the C APIs in JSP. Is it possible? How to do that?

Basic process.
1. Write the JNI
2. Insure the JNI is in the servers shared library path. This can depend on the user that the server runs under (unlikely to be you.)
3. Add the java code into the server.

I am new to linux , i use GPRS to browse net since i cant get my hands on "BROADBAND" .In windows i used to use "GOOGLE ACCELERATOR" which helped to increase browsing speed is there any similar thing in Linux or any tweaks to increase browsing speed in GPRS

The only trick I know applies to broadband, however there might be something similar for GPRS. Unfortunately I am not competent enough at this point to tell you.

Catching errors in Web Dynpro for Java when thrown from RFC Raise Exception

Hello Developers,
I'm looking for information that explains how a Web Dynpro for Java application responds and processes errors that are thrown from a Raise Exception event within an RFC.
The Exceptions do not appear to be part of the Model and I can't identify how they get processed.
When rfc HRXSS_CAT_WD_RECORD raises exception PERNR_NOT_LOCKED this exception is passed back to the calling webdynpro CAT DC that displays the exception on the web page along with the log.
I would like to display a friendlier message and without the log. Any information on how to customize the handling of this error would be greatly appreciated.
