You had better check with your IT dept. before installing. It could get you fired. If there is any sort of network security on your work computer you probably won't be able to install anything as you don't have admin rights.

How do I uninstall CS5 in Windows 7

I just purchased CS6 and installed it -- everything works. But I also have CS5 -- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit -- How do I install CS5? CS5 does not appear in the Control Panel "Programs" listing.
Is there an "uninstaller" somewhere??

Thank you -- however, it was installed and working BUT even though I "unhid" all files, Windows 7 still not report it -- no idea why.
It doesn't even report CS6.
But, as you suggested, the Cleaner Tool -- not for the "Cloud" did the uninstall. I will have to go into the Registry and remove any remnants.

How does one transfer CS5 actions for use with CS6?

CS6 installation, which was uneventful, has transferred none of my actions from my copy of CS5. The CS5 actions are located in the actions folder of the APPLICATION/PHOTOSHOP CS5/PRESETS/ACTIONS. The "actions" folder in application support/adobe in my library is empty, and has always been so.
Only the CS6 default actions are located in the same folder for CS6.
I use imac i7, lion.
Note that i also have CS3 and CS4 on my machine. This due to recent upgrade to CS5 and recent upgrade to LION, and my general paranoia.
Must i load each action into CS6, one at a time?

On a Mac - There are multiple ways to do this. I have done them both ways. In order to do this you need to know where you have your actions stored, and you can move them all at once if you have them stored in the same location.
1. You can load an action ONE AT TIME into your actions palette by:
     A. Open up the action palette and click on the little arrow with 4 little horizontal lines next to it on the upper right corner of the actions palette.
     B. Select "Load Actions" and a Finder window will open up and you can search your computer through this window for your actions.
     C. Click on the action from the Finder window then click 'Open' at the bottom right of the finder window.
     D. To save these so that they appear every time you open up your actions palette, go back to the little arrow at the top right of the actions palette and when the drop down window opens- click on 'Save Actions'. It will select the location where the          actions are currently stored as the place to save them. If you want to change that path, you can do it at this time in the little path window. I just leave it, since I keep all my actions stored in the same file.
2. TO MOVE MULTIPLE ACTION SETS AT ONCE
     A. Open up CS6 (or CS5) and move the Photoshop workspace it to the right side of your computer screen so you can see your desktop on the left side.
     B. Open up your Finder search window from your dock (the square blue head icon thingy for those who are new to photoshop). Move this to the left side of your screen so you can see the Photoshop work space on the right and the Finder window          on the left. In the Finder window, navigate to the file where all your actions are stored, select all the actions in the file (command+A will select everything in the file if you are actively inside the open file) or you can select multiple files           individually by continuously holding down the command key and clicking on the different actions you want to move.
     C. With the Photoshop workspace visible on the right, and the actions palette open so you can see that the actions actually transferred - In the Finder window, click the selected actions you want to load and drag them over to the Photoshop           workspace. I did this without an image open, I just dragged them onto the empty workspace. The actions should all appear immediately in the actions palette that is open.
     D. To save these so that they appear every time you open up your actions palette, go back to the little arrow at the top right of the actions palette and when the drop down window opens click on 'Save Actions'. It will select the location where the           actions are stored as the place to save them. If you want to change that path, you can do it at this time in the little path window. I just leave it, since I keep all my actions stored in the same file.

How do I get CS5 Bridge to open instead of CS3?

When I upgraded Photoshop to CS5 I had to do it by upgrading my CS2 version because my CS3 version was part of the creative suite package. When I open Bridge, I don't get the CS5 version, I get the CS3 version and the two are definitely different. I like the Output features in the CS5 version since I use it at work, but at home, I don't know how to get the CS5 Bridge to open and, of course, Bridge doesn't show up as a stand alone program in the Program listings. What to do? Should I try reinstalling CS5?

Is it possible to get a Plugin to work on CS5

For a number of years I used the superb Plug-in from Adobe Exchanage ..

It installs 'Kedaffie’s filters' .. with sub filter "Bring back the reds"
Now upgraded PC to W7 (32 bit) and Photoshop CS5 extended, now when I try to use this on CS5 it crashes the app. On Adobe support pages it does say that many early plug-ins will not work with CS5.
Does anybody know how to get this to work under CS5 or is knowledgeable enough to upgrade the plug-in so it will work ?
Alternatively anybody know how to contact Eduard Winter the author.

How to Upgrade AE CS5 to CS6

So I've convinced my boss to buy me an upgrade - thing is our network guys aren't going to let me get CC until Adobe can resolve some of it's authentication issues.
I currently have CS5. I downloaded and installed a trial of Master CS6. They've bought me Production Prem CS6. I'm on Mac Mavericks.
Not sure how this works now. I'll need to hold on to InDesign and Dreamweaver CS5. So my question is - should I just wipe the HD and start over? Or can I just authorize the Pro Prem set and uninstall the CS6 programs that don't come with the Pro Prem? On windows I would totally start over - but this mac seems to be handling CS5 and CS6 stuff side by side...

Different version, different license, separate installs. This has never been any different - neither Windows nor Mac. There is no requirement, at least from a technical POV, to jump hoops. "Clean installs" are an urban myth, anyway.

Upgrade CS3 custom plugins to work with CS5

Hello everyone,
I have several InDesign plugins developed with CS3 SDK, and now we'd want to make them work with CS5.
As the first step, I'd want to get some general idea regarding how large the scope of effort it would require.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows whether we have any tools help with such upgrades. Or if anyone could help pointing me at some instructions that would be great.

Hi Jeff,
You could look into the programming guide for a complete reference into what all are the changes you need to make into your plugin for porting into CS5.
But i will mention some main points that hopefully will get you started.
1. You need to seperate your plugin into two plugins that i.e. model and UI plugins. For that what i suggest is consider placing things like persistent interfaces and commands, maybe selection suites and the same into the model plugin and the rest into UI plugin.
2. You could start by not linking against the WidgetBin.lib on the Windows proj and not using the "IndesignModelUI.framework" in the MAC project. The files giving compilation error would be a potential target to move to the UI plugin.
3. Next is when you have decided what all things are to be present in the model plugin, then use the CS5 SDK to compile this project, you will probably get some compilation errors which you can fix with the help of the Indesign SDK help.
4. Once the model plugin is compiled you can place all the other files and features from the original plugin not included in the model plugin into a new plugin(UI). This project will link against the WidgetBin.lib on the Windows proj and the "IndesignModelUI.framework" in the MAC project.
5. Once the UI plugin is ready and then you have made the appropriate API changes, you still might have some linking and compilation errors because of the code moved into the model plugin. For this you need to make a facade generally used for communication btw the model and UI plugin. Place all the functions of the model plugin that the UI plugin uses in the facade and replace the call of these function appropriately in the UI plugin.
6. Lastly you will have to make some changes in the project settings as well for CS5 to copy the resource files with the plugin as well, please refer CS5 porting guide.
If you follow these steps, you would be able to load your CS3 plugin into CS5. And basically the effort in terms of porting the plugin mainly depends upon the quality of code to be ported. If the original code is written with good insight and using good practices of design patterns, porting is not a very time consuming task.

Widgets Seldom Work with CS5

I have Dreamweaver CS5 and love some of the many widgets available. However, most do not work for me. For example, the Prototype Fisheye by TK Flatstone. It downloads fine. Sets up easily. But doesn't work even with his graphics. I've set my graphics in place and it still will not move the images at all.
Why are there so many problems when we try to use the widgets with CS5? Are they not compatable? I'd really like to be able to use the YouTube widget and the Prototype Fisheye but how can i make them work??

Back in 2010 I purchased CS5 for $139 over the Internet from a company who's web page looked 100% legitimate. After waiting about 4 weeks for CS5 to arrive it was delivered by US mail from China. I opened the box and the Adobe packaging looked very genuine so I truly thought is was a legal copy of CS5.
I installed CS5 with the license key that was on the CD case with no problems. A few weeks later I had a question so I called Adobe and they told me that the license key was not a valid key.
I also have noticed that in the help menu there is no way to peform a deactiviation of the software like there has been on earlier versions.
With all of the above said it looks to me that I purchased without knowing an illegal copy of CS5. Next time I'll buy from a source I am familiar with.
I have this copy of CS5 installed on 2 desktop machines and a laptop. I was able to do this because there was no deactivation feature.
I guess I would still like to know why CS5 32 bit is working but CS5 64bit says my license key is not valid.
Lesson learned - cheapest price is not always the best.

Adobe does not sell older versions of their software so your only option to get CS5 would be to find third party vendor and take your chances there. Adobe does still sell CS6 software though I am not sure if that is a global offering.

How to work with both desktop and Surface pro 3

I have a desktop for my normal use of Adobe Creative Cloud for Photoshop and Lightroom. I have my lightroom catalog on a separate external drive. I just got Surface pro 3 to do Adobe on it. I am now confused on how to work on Surface and how to access my Lightroom catalog.
