How to wrap a .dts audio file into an AIFF-C container

I have a .DTS audio file that I'm trying to wrap into an AIFF-C container so I can upload that to a first generation Apple TV running ATVFlash, with the XBMC.
I've already been able to playback Aiff-C wrapped files that I've been able to rip from a CD, that use the DTS/5.1 encoder. This works great using an external DTS decoder.
The way I've been able to do this, is I've found a PC app that will multplex the DTS audio tracks from the CD into an AIFF-C without transcoding the audio. There's been no apparent loss during this procedure which is great.
I just happen to get a .dts concert audio file that I'd like to wrap into the AIFF-C container.  Because this file has a .dts extension I can only open it with VLC.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

my answer might be a litte bit late but http://vixy.net/ is a web based service that does exactly that. Simple to use!

  • How to best import existing audio files into iTunes?

    Hello,
In sum, my question is:  What is the difference between adding music to iTunes Library by the following methods:
    Placing the audio files in the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' Folder;
Dragging the files from my hard drive to the Source Pane in iTunes; or
Using the File > Add Folder to Library dialogue?
Here are the particulars of my situation:
I have over 3,000 music files, and I would like to know the best way to get them into iTunes. From a lynda.com training video about using iTunes, I learned that there is a folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes", which is monitored by iTunes for new files to import into the iTunes library. However, I would like to know if this is the *best* way to do this. For example, can I just *move* my 3,000 music files into this 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder and then let iTunes do its thing?
Will iTunes *move* the files that it is able to manage OUT of this folder and into one of its managed folders, such that there would be no duplicate file left behind? Is it correct in saying that the files that are left in this folder that were not able to be handled by iTunes and must be handled differently before they can be imported into iTunes? Or is there just an all around different, and better, way to get these music files into iTunes?
Thanks for your advice and opinions!
    ~Antonio

    Hello tt2,
I have given this a lot of thought and attention over the last few days.  As well, I appreciate very much your input and offers of help.
The major 'problem' that I have is that the files are most definitely not consistently named.  For example, they include the likes of the following:
    07 - Song Name - Song Artist.mp3
    01 - Song Artist_Song Name.wma
    Song Name [Song Artist].aac
And these are only examples, based on my trying to get across how variant the names are.  The actual file names are far more wildly various than even these, seemingly consistent file names.
So, this is what I was thinking of doing, per your suggestion:
An alternative aproach would be to use something like MediaMonkey (has advanced filename/path to tag tools) or MusicBrainz Picard (attempts to match audio fingerprints) to update the tags before the files get introduced to iTunes.
    Then...
    1. Move the files into the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder, then let iTunes have a go at getting them in to iTunes.
    2. Using either Tuneup or MusicBrainz Picard (Any comment on which is better?) to cleanup the file names (again) properly; and
    3. Then using your script to force iTunes to update itself, based on any new id3 data.
Does this sound like madness?  Or is it a good solution for this application?  I am very grateful for your, or any other, input.
    Take good care,
    ~Antonio

  • How do I import .amr audio files into PP CC 2014.2

In this support document it seems to suggest that this version of PP supports importing amr files: Installed codecs in Adobe Media EncoderHowever it doesn't work on my copy of PP. Is there some setting I need to change, or do I need to convert all my amr files into mp3 or something?

    Not really,
but I am happy to report that I found the solution:
AVOID Logic's "Audio>Import Audio File..." window, if you need to import 54 tracks.
Make sure you have enough Audio Tracks available in Logic's arrange window.
Select Audio Track 1 in Logic.
Highlight (select all) tracks) from your source DVD or disk.
Drag all of them to Audio track 1 in Logic and the position you determined in transport.
    Beautiful.
Why don't we get this within the Logic application?
    Thanks everyone.

  • How can I upload an audio file and link a page on my webiste to it?

As to your website, which is a separate matter from iTunes, you can provide embedded players - these pages gives you some information:

  • Importing Quicktime Audio File into itunes

I have a couple quicktime audio files that I'm trying to import into my itunes library. When I try to simply drag them into my itunes library it will not accept them.
Also I tried using the import control from the itunes window, but when I choose the the quicktime file to import it also will not go into my library. These files where orginally windows media files inwhich I converted over using the "flip4mac" program to convert the windows media files to quicktime files, but neither file type will import into itunes.
These files were simply voice recordings from a digital recorder, how do I get these audio files into my itunes library?? ... Thanks

Ya, looks like the file is still a real WMA file and all that application did was give your QT the ability to play WMA files perhaps? I am not familiar with that one. You need to locate a WMA to MP3 file converter. Some that come to mind are MediaMonkey, EasyWMA, and there are many others. Those first two might both be shareware programs and I don't have any first hand experience with them. I really haven't had the need to do this type of conversion (yet) so haven't looked into the various applications. Perhaps someone reading this can chime in if they know any free ones that work.
In the meantime, hit up versiontracker.com or download.com and do a search and see what you find. But the root cause of your problem is that the file is still in the wrong format for iTunes and iPod use.

    Hello ingiorgio
You can import the track into GarageBand and then split the tracks there. Once that it is done you can highlight the ruler section and then share the song to iTunes to get them separated out.

  • Anyone know how I can get an audio file imported into my iTunes' podcast directory, rather than the music directory?

Anyone know how I can get an audio file imported into my iTunes' podcast directory, rather than the music directory?
I downloaded a series of podcasts recently.  They were imported into my "music" directory instead, making it more difficult for me to recall where I left off with the last podcast I listened to before having to stop it for whatever reason.  Thanks in advance for any help.

You can do it, though the result isn't ideal. Import your episode, then select it in the Music list and hit command-i to bring up the info panel:
However each episode you do this with will turn up as a 'podcast' with no name - and it doesn't seem possible to give it one - containing the one episode:

  • How do I convert a prel file into..

How do I convert a prel file into a mp3, avi, etc. I am needing to upload the video onto youtube and the file is not compatible as a prel. I am using adobe premier elements 12.

    mgroce
Given you have Premiere Elements 12/12.1. (limit...2 GB 15 minutes, even if you have an extended time account at YouTube...the extended time account applies only to file uploaded to YouTube at the YouTube web site)
If your goal is to get a Premiere Elements 12 Timeline uploaded to YouTube, you have two possible routes....
    a. Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube and your selection of the preset that matches your Timeline properties
    or
    b. Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with one of the .mp4 preset to export the Timeline content to a file saved to the computer hard drive from where you upload it to YouTube at the YouTube Web site.
For best results, I would suggest an AVCHD.mp4 file instead of the "avi" that you mentioned. What is the video compression that goes with that "avi" wrapper?
As for .mp3, that is a audio file extension, what is your intent on that....an upload to YouTube with just music and with a black video display? YouTube strictly enforces any copyright issues, so please assure that there are none associated with these .mp3 otherwise YouTube will remove them.
Please review and consider, and then let us know if you have the information that you sought.
    Thank you.

  • How to Import Garageband projects and files into Cubase for Windows?

    Hi
I've recently started using Garageband to record my ideas and compositions. I had 2 main questions:
    1. How do I transfer the audio files created in Garageband in a format which will allow me to edit them in Music Software for a Windows based Operating system? Tranferring them to iTunes and then converting them to MP3 doesn't help because then my friends can't edit my guitar parts and other backing tracks.
Mainly I need to know how to save and import Garageband projects and individual tracks into Cubase/ Cakewalk for Windows so that my band guys can edit the tracks and send me their ideas.
I'm the only one out of my friends who has an Apple Macbook and most of my band guys still use Windows based Operating systems.
    2. I record my guitars and other instruments using the Digitech GNX4 guitar effects processor as the sound source through USB. While I can record clean guitar without any problem, the moment I switch on the distortions on the GNX 4, there is a loud and constant hum from the speakers. I am therefore not being able to record distorted guitar sounds.
    Please help on this.
Thanks and hope to hear from you all.
    Cheers
    Prash

Tranferring them to iTunes and then converting them to MP3
    same as the protools procedure:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#openinprotools
there is a loud and constant hum from the speakers.
Could be a ground loop problem. Test it using the MacBook on battery power only.

  • Segment audio file into chapters

I hope this will make sense - my best chance of getting the help I need is to describe what I'm trying to do:
I work with a high school marching band. I've recorded the band playing the music we'll be performing in our show. I plan to load the recording onto an iPod and play the music over speakers  while my students learn their marching drill to the song.  What I need to be able to do is  segment the recording into a bunch of attached "chapters," so I can either start the recording at the beginning and play straight through, OR  easily start at specific spots in the music (like a chapter in a book).
I'd appreciate any suggestions the community may have about how to accomplish what I envision.
    TIA

  • For ICD-BX132, How do I transfer an audio file to a PC?

I just bought a ICD-BX132 voice recorder. There is no USB port, and no cable or software were provided. How do I transfer an audio file to a PC?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Quick Start Guide and two LR03 (size AAA) alkaline batteries are only supplied along with this IC Recorder.
You can use a stereo mini plug cable to transfer the recorded files from IC Recorder to the Computer. Plug one end of the cable to the Headphone jack on the IC recorder and plug the other end of the cable into the Microphone jack on the computer. You can purchase the cable from any nearest local Electronics store.
Go through the steps mentioned on the below knowledge base article to transfer the recorded files to Computer.
