  • Vista with XP Downgrade and no recovery discs - how do I create recovery discs?

Interesting -- I also purchased the Windows Vista Business (sticker that says so on the bottom of the T61) with the pre-loaded downgrade to Windows XP Professional.
I created Product Recovery discs, as the OP was advised, but didn't notice any indication during the creation process whether these were for the Windows XP Professional that was preinstalled, the Windows Vista Business (which is licensed and has a sticker on the bottom of the T61), or both. Anyone know?
And if it's only for XP, then how does one get Windows Vista Business media to which the license applies?

    Hello awolfe63,
Your are not alone, some members of thinkpad-forum.de also have the same experience.
No Vista, just XP recovery options,
either from R&R Cd´s/DVD`S or hddpartition.
One member asked his retailer in regard of this problem, cause Lenovo Hotline tells they won´t be able to
ship Vista recovery disks, the retailer said, that we´ll have to wait for an answer,
    from Lenovo.

  • How can I use recovery discs to reinstall Windows 7

    I have a Thinkpad X210
I am thinking of replacing the HDD with an SSD.  I then read the instructions for the SSD install and it says that I would need to reload the Operating System.  Although I do have the laptop backed p with Acronis I realised that I did not have dics with the OS and drivers.  So I went to the Recovery utiltiy.  I have made a boot disc DVD and a data disc on 2 DVDs.
There are no instructions as to what to do next.
If I clone the HDD onto the SSD can I then boot from the boot disc to get to a point of reloading Windows 7.  I think that this is necessary for Win7 to change the install settings to make them appropriate for a SDD
Before I click to buy the SSD, any help would be great

  • How to write to mounted disc image

I need to add a file to a disc image I created, but it always comes up no write no matter what I do.
Anyone know a good tip to do this?
    Thanks.

    That sounds excellent, thanks.
I also found this old tip on Mac OSX Tips. In Terminal type:
hdiutil attach yourDisc.dmg -shadow /tmp/yourDisc.shadow -noverify
You can then write to the shadow image, and make a disc image copy of the mounted shadow.
I think yours is a bit quicker though, but I thought you might enjoy this anyway in a pinch.

  • How can i enable my wifi adapter on my probook 4530s?

    Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it please try these steps might help you to fix your issue.
    1) Disconnect the Battery & Adapter then press & hold the power button on Notebook for 30 seconds then turn on the unit and check if the Wireless light turns on.
    2) Go to Device manager then uninstall the wireless drivers from Network Adapter and restart the unit and check if the light turns on.
    3) Try doing a system restore to the date where unit was working fine.
    4) Please update the Bios & Wireless driver from HP website.
    5) Click start in search type Recovery Manager then click on it select Yes on User access control then select I need immediate help then select Driver & application recovery select the wireless driver and install it then restart the unit.
    6) If you are comfortable reseating the wireless card which will be on the back panel off your unit you could try this steps as well.
If still you have the same issue then you need to call HP Technical support and get the part replaced.

  • How can i adjust my screen brightness? HP ProBook 4530s

I cant adjust my screen brightness. Fn+f2, f3 show the brightness bar at the dimmest point and doesnt make any change. The manual way of going through Control Panel then display, personaisation also doesnt work. I am running Win 7 Pro registered version. This si really annoying and strains my eyes to the point that i just cant work. Please give me a fix. Thanks for reading.

    Hi:
Did you install the Intel chipset driver and the applicable graphics driver for your model?
Normally the reason you can't adjust the brightness is due to one or both of those drivers not being installed.

  • Recovery Disc & new ProBook 4530s

How do I create a recovery disc for a new ProBook 4530s with Windows 7?  I can't find Recovery Manager software on the pc and the pc didn't ask me if I wanted to create a recovery disc.

    Hi:
    I don't think you can create a recovery disk on a 4530s.
It should have a recovery partition which you can use to restore the PC by striking the F11 key at the splash screen and launching the recovery process.  Of course a recovery partition is useless if the hard drive dies, or you want to install a new HDD.
You can order a quick restore disk set, which I always do for all my HP business PC's and notebooks for $10, if you live in the USA or Canada. If you don't live in the USA or Canada, skip to the bottom of my post for instructions to order.
    Here's how:
    1. Write down the part number and serial # on the bottom of the computer on the white tag. The model # is an HP-Compaq 4530s, but the part number will be found on that white tag below the serial #.
    2. Call HP at 1-800-952-7689, option 1 (ordering restore disks is part of the list in the option).
    3. Provide the info asked by the rep that answers the phone. Some just ask for the serial #, some want both, or they will just want the serial number and type of computer (4530s).
    4. Have a Master Card or Visa ready for purchasing. You will be charged $10.00.
You will receive the disks by First Class Mail or you can pay an additional $10.00 for FedEx shipping.
If you don't live in the USA or Canada, contact HP Support by telephone for the country you live in at the link below.  If they have a separate number for business PC's/notebooks, call that number. You will need to provide the customer services rep the same info as above (model and serial #).
Costs range from free to more than $10 depending on where you live.

  • How to create recovery discs for HP notebook with preinstalled Windows ?

The notebook was purchased in the hipermarket so that it has no Windows installation discs.
There is a Windows 7 label sticked to the machine.

Start  > Control Panel > Backup Your Computer > Create a system repair disc
    it shows the error:

    Hi BH,
I have read the link you suggested and tried to find HP Recovery Manager at my notebook.
    1) I typed Start > Search > "Recovery" but it was not installed.
    2) I  ran the HP Software Setup to check recommended and optional HP applications. HP Recovery Manager was not there.
    3) I downloaded HP Recovery Manager for Windows 7 and ran the installation
    I accepted the default folder.
    C:\SWSetup\sp45415
It showed an installation form for a while and then completed with no message.
    4) I repeated action (1) but no HP Recovery Manager.
    5) I checked uninstall menu but no HP Recovery Manager.
Please let me know what to do next ?

  • Recovery discs for HP Pavilion g6-2210us

Unfortunately, a recovery disc was not created for this computer and now it won't boot.  It keeps coming up with the error saying that a repair is needed.  I've followed the guides on here and nothing is working at all.  I would like to know how to get the recovery discs.  Thank you, sorry if this has been addressed before, I'm posting here for the first time in a long time.

  • C655s5307 satelitte recovery disc problem

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have just purchased the above. I did alot of research and Toshiba seemed the best way to go. I tried to make my recovery discs 1st thing and the first disc had an error and the rest were okay. I then tried to load Kaspersky antivirus after using the norton uninstall to remove norton so I could install Kaspersky and Kaspersky said norton was still there even though I can find no traces of it anywhere so I could not install it. I called Toshiba and they helped me resore my laptop back to it's original state using f8. Norton was there as a free 30 day trial so I activated it and will remove and try to install Kaspersky later. Now I am trying to make my recovery discs again and when I went to my Toshiba and clicked on the recovery media creator it said the link was no good and did I want to delete it so I did. Now there is nothing to take me to the recovery media creator again. I was on the phone with Toshiba again for 20 minutes and the music quit playing and now one was there. Ant ideas how to create my recovery discs? Thanks, Mike

You might be better off just buying a set.  Reading through posts here combined with my own experience, these disks aren't trust worthy.  I've made recovery disks for my Gateways and Acer computers that worked great, but tried using the ones I made for this Toshiba Satellite computer yesterday, and it took five tries to get them to work - no problems burning them however.

  • Recovery Disc software installation

Mine is Hp pavillion, Disc crashed, new disc with windows OS trial version installed by repairer, now i want to install regular OS and from recovery disc. How to do. Recovery disc doesnt install automatically. Should i go to set up menu

    Hi:
You have to boot from the recovery disk in order for it to work.
Put the disk in the DVD.
Reboot the PC and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the F9 key to lauch the one time boot menu.
Select the DVD drive and hit the enter key.
Watch the screen for the message...."Attempting to boot from DVD. Press any key to Boot from DVD..."
Hit any key and then the disk should boot, and you then can follow the on screen instructions.
