How to zero erase, reset, and restore

Hey there!
On Monday Apple are picking up my laptop for repair.
I have a TimeMachine backup of my Machintosh volume and a WinClone backup of my Bootcamp volume.
1. How can I zero erase both volumes and re-install my laptop as if it was from the factory? I am doing this so that none of my files can be recovered - they are replacing my hard drive with a new one at the repair centre, you see.
2. When I restore my system from the TimeMachine backup, will it remember I have a Bootcamp partition and prompt me to setup that up? My Bootcamp setup is quite big and i want to make sure I can restore it as easily as I can supposedly restore the Mac setup with TImeMachine!

Boot to your Mac's "Software Restore" disk #1. When the installer loads, select a language, then open Disk Utility from the "Utilities" menu.
Select your drive in the list on the left (select the drive, not any of the named volumes that will appear indented below). Switch to the "Erase" pane.
In the Erase pane, click the "Options..." button. Here, you can enable a single-pass "zeroing" of the entire drive (there are other, more time-consuming choices too). Confirm your choice to dismiss the dialogue. Use "Macintosh HD" as the name for the new volume that will be created, make sure it will be formatted as "Mac OS Extended (journaled)," then click "Erase."
After you have restored your installation of OS X from the TM backup, you must run the Bootcamp Assistant to create a new Windows partition. Make sure you note its current size before you format the drive to send it in, so you can recreate that volume. Are you able to boot to the Windows clone? If so, you'll be able to clone it back to that new empty Windows volume.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

There are two different resets. The reset you did involved holding the sleep/wake & home button.
The other reset will do exactly what it says. That reset is located in Settings - General - Reset.

Out of nowhere my Ipod became locked. It turns on when I plug it into my computer, it loads files and recharges, but pushing the keypad does nothing. I have tried to reset and restore, and it is still locked. Thanks for any help.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple.
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

My Ipod Classic (160G) no longer synchs completely with iTunes (93G). Have reset and restored to no avail. AM about to try roll back to a previous version of iTunes, which has been on auto update.

My iPod Classic (160G) used to sync flawlessly with iTunes (93G).
Recently, there seem to be fewer folders syncing. In particular, it is not syncing more recent adds. It also occassionally refuses to sync at least one mp3 downloaded from Amazon.com, giving an unable to sync message with an error code or 50.
I'm running iTunes version 10.7, and the software (2.04) on myiPod is current.
I only use the iPod for music. I have only one playlist.
Reset and restore did not fix the problem; I'm considering rolling back to a previous version of iTunes. Are there any other ideas to consider?

iTunes and its sync process with your iPod have been know to choke once the amount of data that needs to be transferred, replaced, or updated, reaches a certain size limit in GBs.
