How transfer avi files from Garmin Dash Cam to iPad?

I recently purchased a Garmin Dash Cam. It uses a microSDHC card. The file structure is /video, snapshot. The videos are recorded as avi files. I am planning a cross countery trip for this summer and would like to use only my iPad. There will be several portions where I'd like to be able to review and save some of the video scenes. I have not been able to figure out how to download the files directly to my iPad. Any suggestions?

there are actually multiple ways
1. itunes file sharing
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4088
2. Transfer files from your computer to your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad
Connect your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device.
Click Apps.
Below File Sharing, select an app from the list, and click Add.
In the window that appears, select a file to transfer, and click Open.
The file is transferred to your device, and can be opened in the app you selected in step 3.
3.  you can also use google drive, skydrive, dropbox, etc. (i prefer google drive)

i have a seagate 1tb hard drive and a 16gb memory stick, how do i transfer avi files from one to another as the click drag and drop wont work, please help?

    Greetings,
What happens when you drag it?
Make sure the drive you are moving the files to has enough available space to receive the file:
Click on the movie file and go to File >  Get Info and note the "size"
Check the drive to which you are moving the file to make sure it has enough available space: https://idisk.me.com/madisonfile-Public/web/finder-drive-available-space-and-for mat.html
Also note the format of the drive you are copying too.  If it is not Mac OS Extended or FAT (not recommended unless you are taking it to a windows computer) then that may be the issue.
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I transfer epub files from my laptop to my ipad

How do I transfer epub files from my laptop to my Ipad Air

If they don't digital-rights-management on them (if they do then check the site that you got them from for which apps you can use for them on your iPad) then you can add them to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Add To Library menu option - if using a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it then add them to its iBooks app via File > Add To Library.
Then connect your iPad to your computer and select it in your computer's iTunes, and use the Books tab to select and sync the epubs to your iPad's iBooks app

  • How to transfer rmvb files from pc to the new ipad?

I just got the new ipad 3rd generation and this is my first ipad too.  How can I transfer rmvb files from PC to the new iPad?

Rmvb files are Real media (yuck) files and are designed to be only playable in Real media player(ewww).
They will not playback natively on the iPad.
You must either convert them(good luck finding something that will handle that garbage) or use a third party player from the app store.

  • How to restore files from Adobe Reader for iOS (iPad)?

I started using Adobe Reader for iOS to annote and comment pdf files. I used the Adobe Reader for Mac OS to upload the files to the Acrobat.com cloud.
Opening the files on iPad worked pretty straight forward and I started editing the pdf right away. When opening the pdf again a couple of days later on iPad, the app downloaded the pdf again in an older version with a couple of annotations present, but a couple of the more recent missing. This is a very disturbing behaviour since I cannot understand why it would sync an older version of the pdf from the cloud over the newer one. Luckily, this was no very important edit, but I will be very hesitant to use this feature in the future if there is a likelyhood for this happening again. Is there any possibility to recover the file with the original edits from the iPad?
The second thing that I don't understand is the mismatch of files shown in the adobe creative cloud and on acrobat.com when using the acrobat reader. 2 of the files I uploaded can be seen in both the adobe creative cloud and in the 'acrobat.com' cloud (is that a different thing?) as can be accessed from adobe reader on Mac OS. However, there are also files that can be accessed exclusively from the adobe creative cloud and files that can be accessed exclusively from the 'acrobat.com' cloud. I don't really understand the difference and how to sync the two.
    Help is highly appreciated. Thanks!

    AnAppleADay,
I personally agree that having two separate Adobe cloud storage services (Acrobat.com and Creative Cloud) is confusing and undesirable.  However, I am not able to speculate on Adobe products or services in future releases.
There is no direct way to download files on Acrobat.com to your iPad/iPhone.  However, you can download files from Acrobat.com via the web browser interface (https://cloud.acrobat.com/files) on your Windows or Mac desktop/laptop computer.
Then you can (a) email them to yourself and open them in Adobe Reader on your iPad, which results in storing the files locally on your iPad, or (b) use the desktop version of iTunes to transfer the files from your computer to your iPad.  (It's convoluted.  But I am not aware of any other options.)  However, if you uninstall Adobe Reader for iOS, the operating system will erase all of associated application data including locally stored PDF documents.
I suspect that your problem is related to changes not being saved to Acrobat.com properly (not about syncing to an older version).  When you make a lot of changes to a PDF document (e.g adding annotations or filling out forms), I'd recommend closing the modified PDF document occasionally, which forces Adobe Reader to save the changes to Acrobat.com.  You will have less chance of losing changes due to unexpected problems or defects in Adobe Reader.
Please let us know if you know the steps to reproduce the problem (of losing changes) with a particular file on Acrobat.com.  We can investigate the problem.
    Thank you.

  • How do u transfer a file from a desktop to an ipad?

I installed itunes and have the usb cable connected. I can see the ipad. How do i transfer files from my desktop to the ipad?

Depends what kind of files, you have to have apps that allow for file sharing in itunes. (if this is what you are refering to). Directions can be found in the help tab of the itunes toolbar.
Transfer files between your computer and mobile apps
If you have an iPod touch or iPhone with iOS 4 or later software, or an iPad, you can use iTunes to transfer files between your computer and an app on your device that supports file sharing.
You might want to do this if, for example, you want to save files you create on your device to your computer, or take files with you so you can use them when you’re away from your computer.
You don’t need to sync your device to transfer files, but your device needs to be connected to your computer.
For information about supported apps, see the documentation for your apps.

  • How to delete files from an attached camera after downloading?

New to Aperture 2. I am sure to have a lot of exploring to do but for now I am looking for a way to delete files from an attached camera after downloading like you can with iPhoto. Is this possible?

While I might be a bit paranoid, I prefer to format in the camera after verifying that the import came out OK. It is a small price to pay to make sure that my images are actually on the computer. I don't do anything fancy, just make sure that the thumbnails come up correctly, and maybe perform an edit.
While it was not my images, thank goodness, I did get bit in a similar fashion. I use a "watch fob" style GPS unit for Geocoding. I have hoodahgeo configured to delete my tracks after import. Well, after one session I forgot to update my images with the gps information. As you can guess, when I re-opened HoodahGeo to try and re-geotag, the tracks were gone, so I was out of luck.

  • How can I transfer PDF files from my Apple to my iPad?

I can transfer "Word" documents from my Apple to my iPad by adding, within iTunes, the required files to the App. Pages and then sync.
I can also add PDF files to my Pages App in iTunes using the same method, BUT I can't open them in Pages - only the Word documents open.
Do I need a different to read PDF files in iPad or am I just doing it wrongly?
    Help - please

I don't have the Pages app (but I think that it may only supports exporting as PDF, not reading them), but if you have the iBooks app then you can sync them to that via iTunes : add the PDFs to your computer's iTunes (File > Add File To Library) and they should then appear in the Books part of your Library, and you can then sync them to the iBooks app via the Books tab that appears on the right-hand side of iTunes when you've selected the iPad 'device' on the left-hand side.
There are also other free PDF apps e.g. Adobe Reader

  • How to write 3 AVI files from 3 different cameras connected to 3 PCI 1411's?

I have a multiple camera acquisition vi and a AVI read/write vi, but I want to acquire from 3 cameras and write 3 AVI files simultaneously. The multiple camera vi uses buffers but the AVI read/write vi does not(I think). How can I accomplish my goal?

Your best bet is to use the new IMAQ Vision 7, which was released last Tuesday, I believe. It now has native support for writing compressed AVI movie files. These VIs are used the same way the Write BMP.vi and other file I/O VIs are used in IMAQ Vision 6.1.
Writing 3 files simulateously should be fairly straightforward. If you can get it to work with one camera (img0), then just copy and past the code two more times for img1 and img2. Also write to three different AVI files. That's all you should have to change! Bandwidth to the harddisk may be another matter all together...

The EXACT answer will depend on which OS and iPhoto you are using, but they all work as follows.
Provided that your Mac recognizes your camera's memory card, you should be able to use iPhoto's
FILE > IMPORT TO LIBRARY menu command, even if connecting your camera does not automatically find ("pop up") iPhoto. If you want your Mac to ALWAYS launch one specific app (such as iPhoto) when you connect your camera, you select which app via with your Mac's "Image Capture" application as follows:
Launch your Mac's "Image Capture" application and search Image Capture > Help for "Transferring items from your camera" (without the quotation marks.)
If you have trouble with the search, you can find the topic on Apple's website here:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=ImageCapture/6.0/en/5304.html
When your camera is connected and operating, you can use Image Capture to select whether and which application to launch automatically when you connect your camera in the future. The Image Capture 8 way of setting is shown in the following image:
For help with the iPhoto part, launch your Mac's "iPhoto" application and search iPhoto > Help for "Importing photos from a digital camera" (without the quotation marks.)
If you have trouble with the search, you can find the topic on Apple's website here:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/7.0/en/6297.html
The exact steps may be slightly different if you are using some other version of iPhoto. If you cannot find what you need, post back which iPhoto and Mac OS X versions you are using and what specific issue is giving trouble, and we will try to offer tailored links.

  • How do I transfer .mp3 files from my PC to my iPad Air

Have .mp3 files (recorded bird songs) that would like to put on new iPad Air.  Also have old MacBook.

If you want them in the Music app on your iPad then you can add them to your Mac's iTunes library via File > Add To Library (or drag-and-drop them from Finder into iTunes).
You can then sync them to your iPad (you've synced the iPad to that Mac before ?) by connecting it to your Mac, selecting it via the device icon that should show in your Mac's iTunes towards the top left (next to the content category icons), selecting the Music category on the left-hand sidebar, and selecting and syncing them to the iPad.

You need to add it to your computer's iTunes and then sync it to the iPad's Music app (iPod app if you are on iOS 4 or below, iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) : connect the iPad to you computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then select the Music tab on the right-hand side of iTunes and select which of your music to sync to the iPad.
