  • Force unlock a Lumia 920 to recover files?

My Lumia 920's screen suddenly became unresponsive a few days back.  The phone is obviously running fine but I just can't do anything with it besides watching the battery drains out.  I've tried soft reset (lower volumne key-power) numerous times with no luck.  I'm going to bring it in for repair, but I would hate to lose the photos I took.  Is there a way (even only in the repair shop) to force unlock the phone (through software for instance and let me enter the code) so that the data can be retrieved?
Thanks in advance for any help!

unfortunately, you will need to take your phone to Nokia Care for inspection. there is no guarantee unfortunately that they will be able to recover your data either.

  • Unlocked Nokia Lumia 920, there are sone things I'...

I'm 14 years old & I do independent schooling, so twice a week I work with my mom. I plan on buying a nokia lumia 920, but since tmobile doesn't have it, I understand I should purchase an unlocked one. My only concern is whether it'll work with T-Mobile's data plan, calling/messaging, and the internet. I dont know if this is a silly question, but I never learned about this kind of stuff in school, can anyone please help me out? Thanks!

Should you purchase an "unlocked" ATT version in US this resource maybe of value to you:http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-920/226194-lumia-920-t-mobile.html

  • How to connect Lumia 920 with PC Suite

    Hi,
I downloaded and installed latest Nokia PC Suite on my WIndows 7 machine. While connecting my Lumia 920 with USB cable to my system, it shows "Quit the transfer mode from phone if you want to use the phone with PC Suite"
I have not been able to find this option in the phone anywhere.. I want to connect and backup my contacts and sync alot of sother stuff as well.
Can anyone please guide me as to how to do this.

I don't want to synchronize to ANY cloud. I want to synchronize to my own PC. Must I return back to my N8?
No, but you wil llimit your phone options and features.
If you are away from home and your phone bricks or gets damaged you have no way of recovering until you get back home. By using the cloud your can access your data anytime, anywhere and your phone and backup data are always in sync without you needing to do anything. If that is not what you want by all means go ahead and try THIS (there are other options.. go Google it)..
You will also HAVE to own/use Outlook for any of these to work.
There are plenty of posts around here which can give you more info on this.

  • Lumia 920 EAP-SIM WiFi Settings

    Please help me,
How to configure Lumia 920 to use EAP-SIM security, In the specification page it say support EAP-SIM.
I Can't choose security type from WiFi setting, even from advanced setting. Lumia 920 always ask username & password everytime I try to connect to my operator WiFi, in blackberry I can choose EAP-SIM Security & don't need entering username & password.
    Sorry fo my English.
    Thank you

sam_kara, this thread is about WPA-Enterprise with EAP-SIM. In your case, you are using TLS or TTLS or … you have to figure out which outer and inner EAP types your company uses. Then you can vote for it:
    TLS
    TTLS

With EAP-SIM you do not configure anything, it just works. However, have a look …
Where did you read about Windows Phone 8 supporting EAP-SIM? The qualification says something different.

  • Is a USA bought Unlocked Lumia 920 fully compatabl...

Hi I live in Ireland and was thinking of buying a new unopened and Unlocked Lumia 920 via an internet shop in the US the price is good and tempting but I was wondering if it would work fully in UK and Ireland. Also being an unlocked phone would it have the exact same Specifications as an Irish bought unlocked Lumia 920.
    Thank you

I received an unlocked US Lumia 920 recently and whilst it fully worked on 2G and 3G I noticed the following issues:
    1. Very few language options for the system, it didn't have UK English, only US and a few other non-English languages. The keyboard could be set to UK English.
    2. Even when on 3G the signal showed as 4G.
    3. No European warranty or repair support so if it breaks or dies you are on your own unless the retailer provides a warranty.
    4. AT&T logo printed on the top of the screen and AT&T boot logo as all US models are AT&T models.
I passed the US model on to a friend and stuck with my UK model instead.

  • Does Verizon support Nokia Lumia 920?

I have an unlocked Nokia Lumia 920 from AT&T.   Can I get this to work on Verizon?

    Did you read AZSALUKI reply?
Just because Verizon sells Windows Phones does not mean they support your GSM model.
    Verizon uses CDMA.

  • Nokia Lumia 920 - Unlocked - Cannot use internet

I've been having trouble with my nokia lumia 920, namely with the internet (or rather, lack of it) ever since it was unlocked.
I purchased my locked Nokia Lumia from a Phones4U store in the UK and it worked just fine with my UK Orange sim card. However, when I had it unlocked (not by Orange. They would not sell me the unlock code because I had not bought the phone from Orange, so I had to go through another route) I noticed the internet was not working. Everything else was fine, apart from that.
At the time I was in Greece and using a Vodafone sim card. I received a text from the carrier saying I had to download an app for the internet to work, so I clicked on the link they had sent, which in turn would not work because the app I needed to download apparently did not exist. (I had to do the same thing with my iphone 4S and it worked just fine)! I assumed it was because Vodafone did not have 4G so I ignored it and resulted to using just WiFi whenever it was available.
When I went France I purchased a sim card from Orange in the hope that it would work but, again, I didn't. By this time I had already gone online and had a look for tips (I had done the Settings>mobile network>highest connection speed>3G, in case 4G was not available) but to no avail.
I really like this phone and would like to make use of it but without internet there's not much I can do. Would anyone have any tips as to how to resolve this problem? Anything will be really appreciated! Thanks in advance.

When you click on settings - Wifi stupid i know but check it is switched on. Under that can you see a list of connection points. Also can you connect to internet via GPRS
If above is yes ( as I am sure it will be ) for Wifi. If no for GPRS have you tried inputting a new apn manually.
    Name - Orange Internet
    APN - everywhere
Proxy & Port - Please leave blank
    Username - eesecure
    Password - secure
    Server - Please leave blank
    MMSC - http://mms/
    MMS Proxy - 149.254.201.135
    MMS Port - 8080
    MCC - 234
    MNC - 30
    Authentication type - PAP
APN type - Internet & MMS (If no selection available , leave blank )
Also in settings - mobile network ensure data (first item is set to on and in bottom item network selection (mine was set to automatic). click on setting and it will search for networks. select the one you want , I presume Orange.
    See if that helps
Maybe with future updates we will be able to modify internet settings

  • Lumia 920 unlock code

I bought a sim free lumia 920 from phones4u yesterday. Then I come back home , insert my sim card then it shows this: This SIM card can only be used on specific networks. Contact your customer service centre for the unlock code.
Why? Is it means I have to use EE even my lumia 920 is a sim free version?

I seem to be having the same issue, the surprising thing is P4U store staff had no idea!  I've called EE and they won't unlock the phone unless it's been on their network for 3 months and at a cost of £24
How can they do this? Surely there must be a legal get out of this?  My contract is with P4U and I have no affiliation to EE, but my phone is somehow locked to them an unusable - NOT FAIR.
Nokia are going to lose a lot of customers over this, and I really don't think they are in a position to be selective about customers.
Consumers want choices - taking this away from individuals (which is what WP8 is about) is only going to cause bad publicity for both EE and Nokia
At the end of the day I am going to have to take the phone back for a full refund - which isn't what I want to do :-(
A copy of the web chat i had from orange
Halobolola: would i be able to get orange to unlock my mobile
Andrew: Normally the phone you get will be unlocked only.
Andrew: But you need to confirm this from  phones 4 u only whether the phone is unlocked or not.
Halobolola: all the nokia 920's are locked to the EE umbrella
Halobolola: and they are locked to ee
    Andrew: No worries.
Andrew: You can visit your nearest Orange store and they will do the need full for you.
Halobolola: okay, im assuming the ee shops can do this, as there are no orange shops around me
Halobolola: any idea on the cost of the unlock?
Andrew: Yes, you can visit EE store as well.
Andrew:As per my information this will cost you £20.42.
So from that you can infer that you do not need to be with them for a certain amount of time.
(I did tell him i am with vodafone)

  • SIM card missing or invalid in Lumia 920

    Hi!
I've seen a couple of similar posts but found no answer to my question so please let me tell you my story:
I bought a brand new unlocked and unbranded Nokia Lumia 920 (got it from the UK to be used in Ireland). I ordered a micro SIM from Tesco Mobile and when I inserted I got the message "SIM card missing or invalid", I thought that this may be due to the card not being active yet but when I put the card on a different phone first I was requested to enter the PIN and then I was advised that the card wasn't active, in the 920 it was just "SIM card missing or invalid".
I activated the SIM and transferred my number, put it on the 920 and again "SIM card missing or invalid", back to the old Nokia and working. So it had to be the phone but it was new so I ordered Micro SIMs from every possible company, until now LycaMobile and 48 have not worked but Meteor has, I've tried at least two SIMs of every company that failed to work the first time. Some of them were active, some not, some of them were empty some already had a number, as said only 48 worked and works from day 1.
I noticed that the chip on the SIM was a different size, I mean, all SIMs are micro SIMs the same size, but the Meteor one has a smaller chip (the copper part where the info is stored), I checked all the other SIMs that I had in the house and some of the older SIMs had smaller and some larger chips but until today I had been able to swap them all in my old phones with no problem.
I started looking for information online and tried the hard reset, it didn't work, I read then that I should use the card for a while in a different phone so that the SIM was perfectly connected to the network, I did so with one of the Tesco Mobiles SIM but when I tried it in the 920 "SIM card missing or invalid", I am thinking now of updating the software but I don't know if this will solve anything.
Any ideas? Anybody experienced the same issue and was able to find a solution?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Sebas

No idea but the fact that most of the other sims don't when I know for a fact that they all do because I've used them all. Perhaps there is a pin slightly out of place and for some reason it catches the meteor sim but not the others. I can't think of anything else.
Just something to check. If you goto Settings>Extras+info>More info>Mobile operator, do you have 000-GB?

  • Lumia 920 - Is it Necessary to Unlock Screen to Us...

Has anyone else found that they need to unlock the lock screen before their BT car kit will make or receive calls.
I can't believe that I'm the only person who has this problem with the Lumia 920!
The phone connects fine with my car kit and the car display shows the contacts ok but the phone is unresponsive to the steering wheel controls until the phone lock screen has been unlocked.
This means that I can neither make nor receive calls without first touching the phone.

    Hi Adrian,
Thanks for the suggestions.  I have checked to make sure that I've got the latest phone updates via the option in the Settings section.  I'm not sure if that includes firmware updates - are these automatically installed also, or do I need to download them separately?
By a soft reset, do you mean turning the phone off and then restarting?  If so, I have tried that several times.
Is it normal to be able to answer via the bluethooth car audio when the Lumia  is locked?  I wasn't sure if I needed to use a voice command or something.  An incoming call activates the car's audio, and I can even hear a ringing tone on the car audio, but clicking on the "phone" button on the car dash doesn't answer it unless the phone is unlocked.
    Thanks

  • How to Clean the Call Speakers - Lumia 920

This is a bad idea if you have a Lumia 920. Maybe you could try this on other phones but the quality of the Lumia 920 just pushes the dust around the inside of the phone and into the front camera somehow. I have had 3 Lumia 920 and the first two suffer from dust in the front camera which I think also affects the proximity sensor. I though that I was treating the phone wrong but it also happened to the windows store guy. There was an article on Windowsphonecentral.com about this and as for learning how to clean the speakers I would like to find out too.
Moderator's Note: A more appropriate subject was provided as this post was moved to the appropriate board.

You could use anti static cloth or compressed air to clean ive seen people using hoovers etc NOT ADVISABLE.
I would sent it to nokia care are its a known issue,it will be done under warranty.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.
    Now using the Lumia 1520
