How do you disable "Run with Multiple Threads" in a standalone EXE

I have a program written in Labview 6.1. After moving to a different hardware platform, my program has started crashing at the same point every time it is run. I eventually found out that the cause of the crash is the fact that the new hardware has a dual core processor. I confirmed this by disabling "Run with multiple threads" and now the program works fine. What I need to know now is how to disable the same setting in a built EXE file, since as far as I know the "Run with multple threads" setting only affects execution in the Labview Dev environment.

Greg McKaskle once posted that using a non-reentrant (VI is NOT re-entrant) wrapper VI to make the calls to the dll will prevent simultaneous execution of the dll.

How to get applets running with Java Plug-in on Win but also on Mac OS X???

I've converted to the use of Java Plug-in for my applets, but I need to have those same applets executable from browsers on Mac OS X platform. Surely this has been done, but I don't see how. The browsers I've tried on Mac OS X (Netscape, IE) don't seem to recognize the <OBJECT> tag used for the java plug-in. I've seen no news about the Java plug-in being ported to Macs. How can one get the same applet to run with the Java plug-in on Windows browsers, and also to run with at least one of the common browsers on Mac OS X? Any help would be SO much appreciated!

I've been through a trial trying to get my applet, developed with 1.4.1_03, to run on my Mac OS X v.10.2.6 in multiple browsers. I'm posting my results here. Comments and feedback are welcome.
JVM support for 1.4.1 is limited to the Safari browser. All other browsers running in Mac OS X that I've tried ( Camino, Opera, Internet Explorer, Mozilla ) are using the 1.3.1 plugin. According to a bug report by Mozilla on this topic ( see Bugzilla Bug # 197813 http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197813 )
with the release of Apple's version of Sun's Java 1.4.1 the applet programming model has changed, and only Safari has adapted with this change. Other browsers, according to the report, could not because of a lack of documentation. The use of the MRJCarbon plugin offered by Mozilla (here - http://www.mozilla.org/oji/MRJPluginCarbon.html) only allows Mozilla to use the J 1.3.1. And I have not found any information on the Microsoft site about how to get IE 5.2 to recognize the newer version of Java.
Regarding the use of the OBJECT tag in Safari, it is a matter of debate. A current post on this topic exists in the Applet Development forum:

In my experience, I have not been able to determine that Safari v1.0 recognizes the OBJECT tag. My experience is that the APPLET tag is required to run applets in Safari. The Bugzilla report echoes the problem with the BadMagicNumber error that can arise in Safari. Nonetheless, I enjoy Safari and I enjoy Mac OS X.

I have a MacBook 2.1, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2.16 GHz, 1 processor, 2 cores, L2 cache 4MB, Memory 2GB, bus speed 667 MHs, with OS X. I am looking into updating it to run with most recent OS upgrade.

I would like to know what i have to do to do to the hardware/software and approximately how much it would cost? I am new to Mac, this was received as a hand me down. Would it be less trouble to get a new one?

You can really only upgrade your HDD & RAM, everything else like CPU etc is hardsoldered onto the logic board and not upgradable.
However, your macbook already supports the current Snow Leopard, and the CPU has 64-bit architecture.
Also the maximum RAM it will run is 3GB. Apple say's 2, but it will run 3.
Not sure how well it would run on 2GB to be honest. Someone else might be able to answer that.
If you're still running your original HDD then you must be pretty pressed for space right now. And drive is probably nearing the end of it's life. I hope your in the habbit of backing up to an external regularly.
I would suggest investing in a new machine since your's is around 4 years old.

How to keep it running with cover off (to track down noise)

My Mac Pro started making a weird hum; I suspect one of the drives is vibrating a bit. I'd like to take the cover off and see if I can figure out what's responsible for the noise but this means I have to keep it running with the cover off and that plastic air guide out. Is that possible or is it likely to hurt it somehow? Is there a better way of figuring out what's humming?

Sorry, but what "plastic air guide"? Are you sure you're not referring to a PowerMac G5? Those do have a transparent plastic air guide that had to be in place for the system to run without ramping up the fans to maximum?

HT1349 First of all, I have just purchased a iMac and I tried installing my Logic Express 9.0 and it won't work. Gives me an error message. I searched the internet and found i need to update it to run with Lion. Tried to download but my SerNum doest work.

Can anyone help me please. I tried installing my Logic Express 9.0 but it states I need an update. Ok.. great. So i tried to download it via apple.com but my serial number doesn't work. I can't even schedule an appointment with them because I am in Italy now. Can anyone show me how I can fix this proble. Java 6 update 3 not running with Vista

Previously I have had not problems with getting Java applets to work, but I just got a new computer with a Vista operating system and I cannot get any applets to work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the lastest JRE from Java's website many times. I also went through their help and made sure the configureations matched that of IE7 which I am using. I have tried older version and even update 4, but I cannot even get the java test machine to work. There is just a red X that eventually shows up after a long wait. Currently, I have update JRE 6 update 4. I have not made any major changes to my computer as it is only a few days old, so I figure that it must be something that is not compatible with Vista. I have a similar post on this subject goto "gordon freeman" java 1.6.0_06 will not run in Vista.
On my system there is a workaround if you open control panel/user accounts, then turn user account control on or off, untick user acccount control and restart the machine then goto website www.javatester.com to test if appelets run! I leave user account control on until I have to goto java website and then disable visit site and then renable this requires 2 restarts everytime I visit a java site. The problem is some sort of permissions issue created by either corruption of the registry by remnants of previous versions or configurations of previous versions it goint ot take me years to work it out. None of the turkeys at Sun have got any idea how to fix this I now am working with Microsoft in an effort to have this problem fixed!

If your Mac shipped new prior to July 20, 2011 but after March 15, 2010, it doesn't need as complicated directions, and you just need the original installer discs that came with it. If you are missing these, call AppleCare.
Prior to March 15, 2010, the 10.6.3 retail Snow Leopard installer can be used.
Prior to August 28, 2009, but Core2Duo or Core i processor any Snow Leopard retail can be used.
CoreDuo and CoreSolo can't have Lion installed.

Please follow the following process:
1. Go to TC: FCH8, cancel the payment (here you have to cancel the payment cheque by cheque)
2. Go to F110>click edit>select Payment>delete output. Again click on edit>select proposal-->delete.
3. Go to TC: FBRA, here you have to reset the data means after reset the clearing docs cleared items will come into open items.
Now, you can check the Vendor open items and run F110 with correct data

Pages 4.2 update doesn't run with Snow Leopard

I keep both Montain Lion and Snow Leopard on the same computer, different partitions. After upgrading Pages this week, it no longer runs under Snow Leopard. The icon changes and a launch message says I can't use this version with Snow Leopard. It looks like this is true of all the iWorks apps. This is the first time I recall the iWorks suite not being backwards compatible.
My advice is to keep a backup copy or older iWorks releases if you need to run Snow Leopard. The App store only has the Mountain Lion version so I can't just download the SnowLeopard compatible version.

The same exact thing happened to me. I have a thread on this same issue but no one has responded. Did you find a way around this?

Firefox software update won't run with parental controls

Running mac 0S X 7.5, firefox has recently been updated 27.0.1
I have parental controls in place on my child's account on the mac.
When that account is running and attempt to open firefox a dialog box appears saying the account does not have permission to run firefox software update.
Even if I (root/ parental user) choose the option in the dialog box to always allow access and properly enter my password, when I again click on firefox to launch I get the same message.

Note that the current Firefox release is Firefox 28.0

If files to update Firefox have already been downloaded then you may have to remove them in the updated or updates folder in the Firefox application folder.

sudo is your friend. You can also set it to only work with certain commands. Instead of having
USER_NAME ALL=(ALL) ALL
You can have
USER_NAME ALL=/usr/bin/netcfg2./usr/bin/netcfg-menu,[any other commands you want to add]

Not in S1AS7, unfortunately. You'll need to set your custom realm to be the default for that particular instance.

[SOLVED] How to make "yaourt" run with "AUR" command?

I want to change the yaourt command so i can use something like aur or AUR.
for example, instead of
yaourt -S package-name-here
I want to use
AUR -S package-name-here
so that it's easier to type. "yaourt" is such an odd string to type! hehe
I think i might use something like this:

When and if one uninstalls yaourt, still gonna leave the aliases in the .bashrc... that's untidy too... Wich is more simple, "ln -s /usr/bin/yaourt /usr/bin/AUR <enter>" or "nano ~/.bashrc <enter> alias AUR='yaourt' <ctrl+x> <y> <enter>" ... It's better to use aliases in .bashrc because you can do so much more and get to learn alil bit more for future reference, but the reasons for not symlinking it's really not that bad. If you've ever used windows for example, symlink works almost the same as creating a shortcut to an application on the desktop, once unistalled the application, you manually have to delete the shortcut. Aliases is the proper way to go, i didn't know this at all.. I just symlinked to yaort but after reading this i switched to alias Btw mark topic as solved ^^

How does a G4 iBook with Tiger run with 512 megs ram?

I am thinking about getting a G4 iBook that will have 512 megs of ram. How well does Tiger run with 512 meg of ram? I know that OSX loves ram. For word processing will I notice much difference if I expand it to the 1 1/2 gigs it will hold?
