How was the animation in the motion welcome window created?

Hi all,
I played around a bit in motion and I was wondering how they managed to get that 'lavalamp' effect in the video in the welcome window of motion?
(The blue video to the left of the window?)
What is done to the particles to make the small circles behave like leaves on a windy street while moving upwards? How are the 'northern lights' in the background done?
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks a lot already,
dl33

cool...Cool...COOL! Good job, Patrick. I made a couple MINOR tweaks. On the "orbit around" behavior", I changed the x velocity to 65, the influence to 1881 and the air drag to .63
http://download.yousendit.com/68DFD70E4A11B6E3 (sorry, I don't have a website of my own to post stuff)
Looks really similar, I know (since Patrick's was great anyway)...it just looks a little bit more natural. Patrick's looked a little like the bubbles were going in a reverse explosion or something...they were coming together too close (no offense, Patrick).

  • How donate the tower uses Windows XP but protect my data on hard drives

Want to donate the tower but safeguard my info on hard
    drive

Not sure who would want an XP machine without the installed functional OS at SP3 level.  Even that workable scenerio is bothersome given that XP is officially in full non-supported mode. It's limited to Internet Explorer 9. There are no Microsoft Updates. Nada, Zip.... Because it is XP, which is at END of LIFECYCLE,  and the fact that you did not mention the model # does present a quandry.(1)  XP is 12 years old. How old is that drive?   New Old Stock (NOS)  EIDE and Sata150 hard drives were very prevalent during the XP years.  NOS drives are now more costly  than new drives. But new drives do not work with XP readily.2) New design hard drives are Sata600. These rarely perform kindly with XP systems.  Even the older Sata300 drives require a complicated install modification and floppy disk patches.3) It's only a mere $27 and shipping for a set of install disks (you never mentioned if you had them, which was the norm for an XP OS).  Those disks would exrase the hard drive and re-install the OS.  Purchase here. 4) Your will also need to have downloaded SP1 and SP2 and SP3 and burn these separately onto CD's. If your not upto it, just smash up the hard drive, and carry off the computer to a re-cycler.

  • About to move from Windows to Mac. Considering purchasing retina display MBP 15" with dual boot system as I need some of my programs. How is the display in windows for photoshop?

Has anyone got any thoughts or have you yourself purchased the MBP with Retina display and added the dual boot system with windows?
I desperately need to update my gear and want a MBP.
I'm a full time photographer at my local paper and freelance photographer - use computers A LOT, and only use windows. I've experienced mac and know I prefer it, the way it runs pleases me a whole lot more and for the amount i'm processing/working I need something that will keep up.
With 12 years of photoshop gear loaded up for all my photo processing etc, I'm wanting to add Windows and have use of both. Windows would run photoshop that I had already purchased some time ago - question is, how will it run?  what will the display be like running Windows on Mac with the retina display?
I use CS4 at the moment and can't afford to upgrade to CS6 just yet, plus i'd waste a lot of what I already have by starting again on Mac. I'd use Mac for everything else, need the use of Windows for portions of what I do.
About to head to Canada and want to get set up for the road. Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks heaps!

There are some drawbacks, running Windows 7 (only) on a Mac via Bootcamp yields less than stellar results, especially with the Retina display.
And of your traveling, the Mac's high power needs (especially the Retina display) and lack of removable battery are going to be a serious issue. The Retina display is glossy, not ideal for viewing on the road and in varied environments.
CS4 won't run on the OS X version that comes with a Mac, so your looking at purchasing CS6.
Support for Windows is more widespread than for Mac's, also if you ever need to redownload OS X to fix a issue, requires a fast reliable Internet connection of the broadband kind.
If your running Windows on your Mac, you can expect to be on your own and not get support as easily as if you were running it on a regular PC.
If you can't afford to keep up with CS upgrades, then you shouldn't be considering a Mac because there are more paid upgrades on that than on Windows 7, it's like a annual nightmare.
IMMO your still better off on a decent,  1920 x 1080 res, matte screen, removable battery (with extras), Win 7 Pro i7 machine (Pro+ runs XP programs) which will stay like it is and get security updates until 2020.
OS X changes every year and if you don't upgrade, + all your third party software, then about 3 years later your left behind for updates.
Also you will have to buy Win 7 to run on your Mac, the OEM disks won't work.
If your trying to budget, then a Mac is certainly not for you.

  • How does the JVM call Windows GDI Text functions?

I need to find out how the JVM calls Windows GDI functions for Java running on Windows. I am a programmer at an imaging software company and we "hook" to client applications to extract information for searching and indexing. Basically what we do is tell the app to refresh itself and then we intercept the text output functions to the GDI. Recently, when trying to image enable an Oracle app (Sun JVM or bastard version thereof), we failed to capture any text output. None of the documented MS GDI text output functions are being called to display that text. Does anyone with an intimate knowledge of the workings of the JVM on a Windows platform know how this is accomplished. I currently have calls pending at Sun and Microsoft, but sometimes these forums have more info than they do. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. ([email protected])
    Jason Nix

I would venture to say that SUN is generating its own
text. That would be necessary in order to handle all
of the sizing and layout management issues which
happen in Java real time, as opposed to Windows once
at compile time. Not likely. Font rendering is always done at runtime and it would be generally unwise to do it yourself given the availability of TrueType fonts and the highly optimized rendering engines. I would be shocked if Sun tried to do it themselves.

  • How was the pre-XI world at SAP??

    Hi
I am wondering which integrtion technologies were present in the SAP world before the emergence of SAP XI?
I heared about technologies like, ALE and BC (Business Connector)..
Could you name those technologies and describe their disadvantages shortly??
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Go:khan

    Hi,
There are different interfaceing technologies available in SAP.
    1. Communication using ALE, EDI, IDoc, BAPI and RFC are the most famous one. This is because it is easy maintain, configure and monitor. You get details documentation and overview on the following site.
    http://www.sapgenie.com
    2. Othet option to connect the SAP and othet system is JCo communication or .Net connector which the development require is more and not easy to monitor.
    3. Business connector and the different third party connector which is also good way to coonect and communicate using XML standard.
All this techonolies are good but the disadvantage is point to point communication and not so eay to maintain over the period of time. The advantage of XI is single point of development, easy to monitor.
    Thanks,

  • How does the "Windows 10 is free for its 1st year" offering affect licensing for enterprise customers paying Software Assurance?

At the keynote on 21 January 2015, there was an announcement that Windows 10 was going to be a free upgrade for the first year of its release.
As an enterprise customer,  I'd like to know about the impact of this announcement on Software Assurance. How is the cost of Windows changing for the enterprise?

You are entitled to your opinion, that doesn't make it correct.
Personally, I'll go with Ed Bott since he has a much closer relationship

Are you saying that you want to see the menu screen when you launch the program?
If so, go to the Help menu and select Welcome Screen. When  the Welcome Screen launches, click on the gear in the upper right corner and set Always Start On to Welcome Screen.
Or are you asking how to start the program from the Welcome Screen?

  • How was performance of JavaFX Application

    Hi all,
I read one forum about JavaFX performance related information.. they mentioned like this..
The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s very slow. The demo takes a very long time to load and start, and real time performance is disappointing. Here is how it compares:
    JavaFX — 14 fps
    Firefox + Silverlight (JavaScript) — 56 fps
    Firefox + Flex — 62 fps
    Adobe AIR — 62 fps
Firefox + Silverlight (CLR) — 99 202 fps (update: 202 fps after fixing main timer’s latency)
(All tests were performed on Pentium M 1.7 machine under Windows XP SP2)
It is 4.4x slower than Flash and 7x 14x slower than Silverlight (CLR-based variant).
On a positive side, development with JavaFX is fun, the language is very compact and efficient for building complex dynamic layouts. There is a great converter to JavaFX from SVG format and JavaFXPad is done nicely too.
I want to know that how was the performance of JavaFX application.??
It seems that very slow while running on WebBrowser.. ???
    Thanks

  • Motion playback window MUCH better quality than final output?

I'm puzzled. I export a straight DV NTSC. The Motion playback window pops up when the job is done. It plays back the finished clip and it looks just grand, very clean. I open the clip itself in the Quicktime Player and it is quite ugly, full of artifacting and waffling.
Can someone explain to me the difference between the Motion playback window (the one that pops up when a job has been exported) and the Quicktime Player (such that one looks great and the other looks horrible)?
    B.

    Cher Mark,
****. Isn't life curious. And my brain even more curioser (to me). I've got credits on hundreds of films, I've produced at least twenty films myself in the last five years, I've edited half of them myself ... and I never ever knew there was that option on the Quicktime Player. Duh. Maybe it has something to do with working in SD again ... back in prehistoric times when everybody was working in SD there was always a good external monitor; and when we switched to HD the difference in QT Player quality was less noticeable, actually, I just looked, not noticeable on my laptop.
Thank you thank you, again, Mark ... the light goes on ... now I'm going to race off and find, I bet it exists, a draft\best mode for the FCP canvas window: We've been using the canvas window - dragged and resized on a second HD monitor to get a full frame 4:3 to cut this IMAX film. I'm trying to convince the boys to switch over to Apple (it's mainly a PC pipeline right now): so they have a modest tower (no frills), and are cutting in SD. They are being converted by degrees.
    Very much appreciated...

  • How can I run Premiere 6.0 on windows 8?

I have an old copy of Premiere 6.0 from 2000/2001 that I wish to try to install on Windows 8. It will not work even when I run the compatability settings. Is there a way around this? Windows 8 doesn't have an XP Mode either, which apparantly was the solution in Windows 7.

    Hi George,
Is it Adobe Premiere 6.0 (from 2001) that you're trying to install? Then it is sadly not supported anymore even if I saw on a Microsoft website (Windows 8.1 compatibility for Adobe Premiere version 6) that version 6.5 is reported as compatible. I read also that some people manage to install Adobe CS2 on Windows 8.1, it may give you some clues.

In FLASH PROFESSIONAL CC there isn't the MOTION EDITOR window and the BONE TOOL.
    WHY????

To Invoke the Motion Editor, simply Double-Click on your Motion Tween span on Timeline (or Right-Click and select 'Refine Motion') and the Motion Editor opens up in-context in the Timeline itself. Double-Click again to collapse once you have made your adjustments.
