How was your experience by configuration of ESS MSS scenario

Hi,
we would like to integrate the MSS / ESS scenario into our EP 7.0. Which effort did you need for configuration of EP 7.0 and HCM on ECC 6.0 for MSS / ESS scenario as described in HCM best practices? How was your experience while configuration?
Thanks and best regards,
Matthias

    Hi Dharani,
Have a look at my weblog,
    For your 1st Question:
"How to do the modification in certain ESS/MSS standard iviews? using your local machine NWDS?" -
1.After you configured your track for ESS/MSS business package in NWDI try importing the track in NWDI by configuring NWDI server in NWDS, goto Windowsàpreferences-Java Development Infrastructure-Development Configuration
and specify the URL where you have configured your NWDI
    2. create a project for the views which you want to modify.
    3. Checkout and create a new activity for the DC
    4. Make the changes as per your requirement
    5. Checkin the activty once you are done with the changes
    6.Activate and release
These are all the steps involved in customization of any business package.
Mail me back if you have any doubts.
    Hope this helps,

  • GP Configuration on ESS/MSS

    Hi friends,
    I have configured the ESS/MSS Business package on my portal(EP7/SP12). I have used the following BP_ERP5ESS (1.0 SP9), BP_ERP5MSS (1.0 SP9),  SAP_MSS(00 SP9) , SAP_ESS(00 SP9), SAPPCUI_GP(600 SP9).
The Configuration guide suggests that for GP templates the <b>essuslwegp</b> DC should be present on the portal. In an article on Wiki, it is said that the DC is deployed when the Business Packages are deployed. But in my case the DC is not present. Do i have to install it separately and if yes, then from where.
    Regards,
    Prathamesh

    Hi,
LWE sample processes that is the essuslwegp comes with the ESS Applications SCA file and not with the business packages. Please deploy the ESS .SCA file to get the LWE processes.
I see that you have deployed the SAP ESS .SCA also. That means essuslwegp is already available. Can i know where you are trying to see the DC?

  • How was Your Zen Micro Packag

I'm trying to see how common it is for the new Zen Micro design (the unit with an "Arrow" by itself on the back button instead of the text "Back") to be packaged in the old packaging (a cardboard box with a picture of an old text "Back" button unit on the front.) The newer packaging appears to be a clear plastic enclosure that allows you to see the unit without opening the package. So far I have only seen this packaging with black colored units.
Thus, I ask the following questions about the unit you own:
What color is your Zen Micro?
How was it packaged? (Cardboard box or Clear plastic Enclosure)
What version is it's (One with an "Arrow" or with the text "Back" for the back button)
    Where did you purchase it's
    When did you purchase it's

  • How's your experience regarding the stability of KDE 4.3 on Arch?

    Maybe this is a specific issue with my Arch x64 system, but I'd like to pose the question;
How well is your KDE 4.3 Arch system performing?
I just recently did a clean install on my main computer, since I wanted to try out KDE 4.3 in a clean environment. I've previously tried out KDE 4 through its different incarnations, since I see great potential in the project, but I always seem to have stability and general performance issues on different systems. This time was no different, and I've had constant crashes in Kopete, the part of Kwin that handles desktop activities, as well as Shaman (incompatibilities with the latest Pacman version? All of the database maintenance operations just make the program hang).
I'm hesitant to start filing bug reports for all the problems I'm experiencing in case of there being something I've done fundamentally wrong with my system. AFAIK my video drivers (proprietary nvidia, any known incompatibilities with 4.3?) and X configuration are working fine.
Or are these kinds of component crashes/restarts still to be expected of KDE 4? Is it still below, say, GNOME in these respects?

It's worth noting that I received a response in regards to the bug report stating certain plasma themes are no longer working as of 4.3. According to the reply, it's stated that as of 4.3 these certain plasma themes have an incorrect package structure and therefore will not work. Apparently, 4.3 is a bit more strict in regards to it's procedure. At the least, here is hoping the developers of these incorrectly packaged themes will fix the problems that currently exist with said themes and reup them to kde-look or the like.

Caliburn wrote:I did a bit better than that. The most prominent of the bugs I've listed (namely, the ones affecting display on applications), they've been posted about on the KDE bugzilla. I've went through KDE with a near fine tooth comb, and I've also posted regarding a small issue or two that still remain to be fixed after my first use of the KDE 4 series, KDE 4.1.
Nice (wishes he had done that).
Believe you me, if you've an issue to post to the KDE devs about that isn't already posted in their bugzilla, not only will they appreciate the word but, as a user of the GUI, I'll appreciate the effort.
In a word, I won't lie about my hesitations regarding the 4.3 release: it feels rushed. Do I think it's detrimental to the development of KDE? Absolutely not, but there are a number of small bugs here and there that make me wonder about the end user testing before the release was sent out for public consumption. On a personal level, I would have loved to test KDE and report the problems I'd found before it's release, but downloading each and every beta/RC release on a 56k is nearly if not entirely impossible.
    Edit:
Another reply and another solution to a different plasma-related bug regarding the transparency of the taskbar. The wording of the problem suggested within the bug report I'd posted is a bit different than the way I'd post it, and therefore I didn't catch the similarity of the issue. Still, a large thanks goes out to the person who threw that particular bug report my way. It's only a temporary fix, but for anyone having the Compiz/Kwin taskbar transparency issue, there is a definite, albeit temp, fix.

  • System configuration for ESS/MSS Implementation

    Hi,
I am stuck while configuring the systems for XSS configuration. I have completed following:
    1) Installed Portal 7.00 (based on NW2004s) which uses the backend ERP2005 system as a User Master source.
    2) Implemented the business packages for ESS 1.0 (SP6), MSS 1.0 (SP6) and SAPPCUI_GP 600 (SP6).
    3) Configured the SLD ( we have SLD running on a separate XI system)
    4) Configured JCO destinations (tested ok).
    5) Configured Systems for Portal and the ERP systems with system aliases.
For Portal System:   I have only configured the WAS properties (i.e. hostname, path and protocol).and User management (using UDIPW as the logon method)
    The system alias is SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
For ERP System:  I have configured connection, user management and W.A.S. properties. The system aliase is SAP_ECC_HumanResources
However, when I perform the connection tests for both systems, they both fail for "Connection Test for connectors" test.  It gives the message "Connection failed. Make sure the user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct".
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Regards.

    Hi Kristoffer,
I have tried as per your suggestion but it still gives an error.
The connector properties for my ERP system are as below:
Application Host  : C1BL1 (also included the domain)
    Gateway Host   : C1BL1
    Gateway Service  : sapgw00
    Logical System Name   : ER1CLNT210
    Remote Host Type -  3
    SAP Client   : 210
SAP System ID (SID)  : ER1
    SAP System Number  : 00
    Server Port  : 3200
    System Type - SAP_R3
System aliases for ERP system are:
    SAP_ECC_HumanResources and SAP_R3_Financials.
I have not maintained any W.A.S. properties for this system.
For my Portal system: WAS properties are:
    Web AS Description  : EP_Portal
Web AS Host Name  : C1BL3:50100
    Web AS Path   : /webdynpro/dispatcher/
    Web AS Protocol - http
I had not maintained the connector properties for this system before, but I have now maintained as following:
Application Host  : C1BL1 (also included the domain)
    Logical System Name   : ER1CLNT210
    Remote Host Type -  3
    SAP Client   : 210
SAP System ID (SID)  : ER1
    SAP System Number  : 00
    Server Port  : 3200
    System Type - SAP_R3
The system alias for EP is: SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
In the UME configuration --> User mappings, I am using SAP_ECC_HumanResources system as the reference system.
Please let me know if you need more info.

  • Can anyone of you who own a Thinkpad R61 Share your experience?

I Just get a Thinkpad R61, and it freeze on Windows Vista 3 time out of 6 boots, and it is making a high pitch noise. I do a few test with it before I return to the dealer for replacement. I didn't even bother to install Linux on it because if it is a hardware problem, it would be waste of time, and might get reject for replacement --.--!
    Here is what I get:
I try it with xubuntu 8.04, (the closest Live CD I can get). The high pitch sound still occurs, however, everything else seem working fine. NO freeze, no nothing.
I boot up into Windows Vista safe mode with network(wifi). Everything work fine and no high pitch noise. I would be really happen if it stay like this every time I boot my system.
I took the laptop apart in to a point where wouldn't effect the warranty and boot my system into both normal and safe mode with network. The Fan is not moving, the CD-rom is not moving, and the HHD is moving however not the one who make the noise.
I do a CLI ram test, and doing the whole thing, no high pitch noise is made.
At last the most making sense test, put my ear right in front of the speaker, and none of them are making any sense. in fact, I hear less noise when I do that.
So clearly, sense many people say it is one of the most silent and coolest laptop ever make in the Thinkpad R series. The high pitch noise is not one of the feature I offer. And Sense this noise is not make by any move part, The only two possibility is the audio chip or the graphic chip. It can't be any of the moving part because they also work under safe mode which make no high pitch noise. And it is not the CPU, RAM, or Battery making the Noise, sense they work the same under safe mode, and CLI mode. The only thing that is power up that is not power up in safe mode or CLI mode are the Sound chip, and the Graphic acceleration. Sense I can't really take those thing apart without avoid the warranty. I don't really know which of the one is making that high pitch noise. You might think I am crazy to think that non movie part is making noise, but it is true. Any that is my story. hehe
I hear all over the place that Thinkpad are great laptop, but it really doesn't give me a good first impression. So How's your experience with your Thinkpad R61?
Last edited by ioky (2008-10-04 10:31:33)

Some Thinkpads are known for high pitch noises, with many newer models it seems to be related to running on battery. See here for details. I have this problem on my T61, but as I have it plugged in most of the time I didn't really care.  I had problems with the preinstalled vista as well, no freezes, but I couldn't get wireless to work. Apart from that, I'm really happy with the laptop, the build quality is just great, it has this rock solid feeling to it and it works like a charm with Arch. The pre installed windows was clearly below my expectations, but I'd buy this machine again any time.

How to use the ESS/MSS BP's under portal context.

    Hey Bhargava,

  • Configuration of ESS and MSS in Portal for HCM

    Hello Friend's,
This is suresh calling for clarifications and doubts in HCM...   see i'm new to portal, but my requirement is to configure ESS and MSS for HCM... i dont know actually wat needs to be done and the way of approach... these are the doubts,
    1. Basic steps for Portal Configuration
    2.  I need some docs for configuring ESS and MSS...
    3.   a) After configuring ESS and MSS, wat needs to be done.. suppose my client is asking for Leave Request in ESS, whether    i  need to create that application in webdynpro java or webdynpro abap in backend and i've to call that application in portal throgh iview...
         b) or by doing the configuration of ESS, by default i will get all the aplications(e,g, Leave Request, Travel Managemetn ....) from that package and it will display in iview...
I dont know basic steps .... plz help me ... Thanks i advance...........!

    Ok. Here are the answers:
    1. Basic steps for Portal Configuration
       > Download ESS/MSS Business Package, it has two parts Business Package for ERP 2005 (Contains iviews, Roles etc) and XSS 5.0 or 6.0 depending upon the version of the ECC.
      > Make sure that you have SAP_HR and EA_HR component installed on your ECC box.
      > Also make sure that there is no compatibility mismatch between version of SAP_HR, EA_HR and XSS.
      > Configure the JCo Destinations, create required system definition and establish SSO between ECC and Portal.
      > Assign the role to the users
    > After doing these steps you can see the SAP provided iviews etc working PROVIDED configuration on HR side are already done.  (This is just to get initial configuration work)
    2. I need some docs for configuring ESS and MSS...
    > Provided by Bala above
    3. a) After configuring ESS and MSS, wat needs to be done.. suppose my client is asking for Leave Request in ESS, whether i need to create that application in webdynpro java or webdynpro abap in backend and i've to call that application in portal throgh iview...
    > Look for that application in WebDynpro (identify the component from iView properties) and show it to the client.
If they are Ok with the basic things then fine else they need to specify the kind of customisation they want in this component
Options available if we need to modify the components
    >>Copy the component in your namespace and do the modification using NWDINWDS
    >>If some field need to be disabled, you can do the same using Self service administration.
    b) or by doing the configuration of ESS, by default i will get all the aplications(e,g, Leave Request, Travel Managemetn ....) from that package and it will display in iview...
    Hope this helps. ...
