How/where to report service outage?

I have searched this site and can not find a place to report service outage. My service has been out for over a day, where can i report it?

I appreciate your response.  To address your points about ways to report outages, we are in Reston and had no cell phone or FiOS phone service that day, and I don't know where any other phones are near us that I could use.  I don't know how to use twitter or Facebook to report problems, but now that you mention those as possibilities I could figure that out.
My main point wasn't really that specific incident, however.  That incident showed me that Verizon could provide a better system for handling general outages.  What people want in cases like this is information; most of us understand that sometimes there will be large outages. It helps us to know that you know about the outage, and it also would help to have an idea what is being done about it.
Having that information online, with each subscriber able to add their outage information, would go a long way towards addressing this.  You would then have a logical place to report on your efforts to repair outages.  All of this could require less time for your support staff since this reporting system could be mostly automated.  It would also help, then, when one person has a problem to see if others also have a problem (OK, just add my ino to the website and wait) or if they're the only one (OK, contact support.)

    Hi Ajay,
If I understand correctly, you want to know
Reporting Services server name based on report server database. Based on my research, I find that the Reporting Services server name is the computer name which install the report server. So we can try to click Start button, right-clicking Computer,
and then clicking Properties. Under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings, you can find your computer name.
Besides, the report server database is a SQL Server database that stores the following content:
Items, Subscription and schedule definitions, Report snapshots and report history, System properties and system-level security settings, Report execution log data, Symmetric keys and encrypted connection and credentials for report data sources.
    For more information about report
server database, please refer to the following link:

  • How to uninstall Reporting Services on SQL 2008 R2?

    Hi folks,
Does anyone know how to uninstall (and intall) Reporting Services without uninstalling SQL server.   I have a reporting Services Instance that has gone wrong (Virtual Directories do not exist in IIS) and the RS Configuration tool will not
let me create a new set of directories (Option remains greyed out).
The SQL Server Repair option did not work when I tried that.

    Hi AndyW2007,
From SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS) 2008, the SSRS is Internet Information Server(IIS) independence. This means there is no directory for Reporting Services under IIS.
In this case, please make sure the SSRS service is running, otherwise, we are not able to configure the Web Service URL and the Report Manager URL(means configuring the virtual directories).
Anyway, in order to uninstall SQL Server Reporting Services without uninstalling other SQL Server components, please follow this guide:
    In Add/Remove programs
Click the 'Uninstall/Change' button for "SQL Server 2008 R2"
In the coming dialog, click 'Remove'
    Click 'OK'
In the 'Select Instance' dialog,  select the appropriate instance, and then click 'Next'
In the 'Select Features' dialog, please only select 'Reporting Services'
Then click 'Next' and 'Next' till the uninstalling process starting
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,

  • How to find reporting services are installed in which mode

    Hi All,
I'm currently working on migrating SQL server from one datacenter to other. The source environment has reporting services installed and as per the info given by the client they are using reportingservices with sharepoint integrated mode.
When I checked the SQL server reporting server configuration manager, i donot see any databases within the databases option.
From SSMS I can see two databases with names reportserver$DEN2010 and reportserver$DEN2010tempdb, the sql server instance name is DEN2010. What i want to know is these databases are created by using which of the below options ?
     1. Install the sharepoint mode integrated mode default configuration.
Will the databases with instance names created by default when you select the above option ?
    2. Install but donot configure the report server option.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards, Kranthi
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kranthi_06,
According to your description, you have an environment with reporting services installed, the info given by the client they are using reportingservices with sharepoint integrated mode. In SSMS, you can see two databases with names reportserver$DEN2010 and
    reportserver$DEN2010tempdb.
In Native Mode, in the SQL Server Installation Wizard, if we select Install and configure option, the ReportServer database will be created automatically through Setup. If we choose the Install only option, we must use the Reporting Services Configuration
Manager to create the database manually. By default, the database format is ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB. In SharePoint Mode, we need to create at least one Reporting Services service application by using SharePoint Central Administration or Reporting
Services PowerShell cmdlets, then three databases are created for each Reporting Services service application and the database names by default include a guid that represents the service application. The following are example names of the three SharePoint
    mode databases:
    ReportingService_90a9f37075544f22953c4a62e4a9f370
    ReportingService_90a9f37075544f22953c4a62e4a9f370TempDB
    ReportingService_90a9f37075544f22953c4a62e4a9f370_Alerting
For SSRS 2008 R2 or early versions, we can identify report server mode using the Reporting Services Configuration Manager. For SSRS 2012 or later versions, Reporting Services Configuration Manager no longer supports Reporting Services SharePoint mode. Configuration
of SharePoint mode is completed using SharePoint Central Administration.

  • Where to call to report service outages?

Its been several hours now, where I have not had 4G, 3G, or 1x data at home, where I have had it at full 'bars'  for years.. (4G for a week or so).   I have reset the phone, and no improvement.  Where do I call to report the system outage?
This reminds me of the "other" service provider who lost the whole city of Lincoln Nebraska for the better part of a day.. I hope that this is not the case here!

  • How to configure Report Services

    Hello
I have created an application comprise of few web forms and reports in both web & page formats.
Now i want to put these forms on local intranet, so that users can access the application using internet browser.
Need step by step guidance in launching application on intranet.
    Thanks & regards
    M. Ibrahim Ganatra

    Hi,
You can design a web page for your intranet where you expect your users to see the reports. In this web page you can use a hyperlink to launch reports directly as:
    Reports6i:
    http://your_webserver:port/cgi-bin/rwcgi60.exe?report=your_report.rdf+userid=user_name/password@mydb+server=reports_server+desformat=html+destype=cache
    Reports9i - paper layout
    http://your_webserver:port/reports/rwservlet?report=your_report.rdf+userid=user_name/password@mydb+server=reports_server+desformat=html+destype=cache
Reports9i - web layout (you will need to deploy your JSP report in a J2EE application server like OC4J)
    http://your_webserver:port/your_context_root/your_report.jsp?userid=user_name/password@mydb+server=reports_server
You can take a look at "Publishing Reports" for 6i or 9i - see chapter on "Running Report Requests"
In case you want to launch only your Forms from the browser, and then launch Reports subsequently, you might want to look at Forms documentation or post your question on the "Forms" forum

  • SSL Cert for 2008 R2 Reporting Services that is installed on a Failover Cluster - server address mismatch?

    I utilized the idea from
http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2778/how-to-add-reporting-services-to-an-existing-sql-server-clustered-instance/ to install 2008 R2 Reporting Services on a new Clustered SQL instance.  In short, create the new Clustered SQL instance on Node1,
installing Reporting Services with it.  Then on Node2, Add a Failover Cluster Node (without choosing Reporting Services); following that up with starting the SQL setup.exe with a cmd to bypass a check so that I can then install the Reporting Services
feature on Node2.  It points out using the SQL Cluster Network name for connecting to Reporting Services.
I verified upon failover that I could still access the Reports and ReportServer URLs.  However, when wanting to add an SSL certificate to the RS configuration, I run into the warning of "mismatched address - the security certificate presented by
this website was issued for a different website's address", where I can continue and get to the Reports or ReportManager URLs.
I played with different certs (internal CA created) and SANs and other things, but I still get this error with the cert.  The Reports URL, for example, is <a href="https:///Reports">https://<SQLClusterNetworkName>/Reports, and the
cert has a CN and Friendly Name of SQLClusterNetworkName (with SAN of DNS: SQLClusterNetworkName.<domain>), but the error still happens.
What am I missing to eliminate the mismatched address warning when using the SQLClusterNetworkName as the base of the URLs?

I got it working by using the FQDN as the common name on the SSL cert, with FQDN in RS URLs.

  • Reporting Services through ISA server for All Authenticated Users

    Hello colleagues.
I have MS SQL 2012 server with Reporting Services and it work via link:
    https://reports2.domain.com/reports
In LAN all work fine, but I want publish this resource via ISA for All Authenticated Users.
When in publish rule I configure (in Condition) "All users" - all work fine, but when I configure "All Authenticated Users" - I have trouble on web form on
https://reports2.domain.com/reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPat...  - scripts not work, because it run how "anonymous" (I see on ISA logging) and ISA block scripts.
I can't use "All Users", because it's not secure.
Maybe somebody publish Reporting Services through ISA server for All Authenticated Users?
OR maybe - how on Reporting Services configure Negotiate authenticated for scripts?

    Hi Alexander,
All users or applications who request access to report server content or operations must be authenticated using the authentication type configured on the report server before access is allowed. The AuthenticationType named RSWindowsNegotiate is supported
by Reporting Services. To configure Windows Authentication on the Report Server, please see:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281253(v=sql.110).aspx
Besides, we can publish report server via ISA server. Please note that you should use a new web port number with a new listener which shouldn’t be used by other web site for report server. Reference:

    Katherine thanks for answer.
Report Server service started as Domain account.
    I have in RSReportServer.config this:
    <Authentication>
    <AuthenticationTypes>
    <RSWindowsNegotiate />
    </AuthenticationTypes>
    <RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>Allow</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>
    <RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>Proxy</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>
    <EnableAuthPersistence>true</EnableAuthPersistence>
    </Authentication>
    In web.config I have this:
    <authentication mode="Windows" />
        <identity impersonate="true" />
I can go (from Internet through ISA) to
https://reports2.domain.com/reports  and LogOn Authentication is work, but scripts not work, because it run how "anonymous" (I see this on ISA logging) and ISA block scripts.
Do you know where in Reporting Services configure run scripts with Negotiate authentication?

  • Reporting services

Can someone point me to some instructions on how to install reporting services in SharePoint mode  where then environment is  SharePoint server 2013 is on a separate machine than the sql database 2012 ?
Everything I've seen explains if it is on one machine.

The process is you run the SQL Server installation on the SharePoint server, and during the Feature selection process, select Reporting Services - SharePoint. This will install the SSRS Service Instance and allow you to create an SSRS Service Application
    within the SharePoint farm.

  • SCCM 2012 - Migrating SQL components to cluster including Reporting Services

    Current SCCM 2012 environment:
     - CAS with database on remote SQL (non-cluster) server in a named instance - SQLSRV\CASINST
     - SQL Reporting Services in also installed in the SQLSRV\CASINST instance
     - The SCCM Reporting Services Point role is installed on the SQLSRV\CASINST instance
     - Primary server with database on the same remote SQL (non-cluster) server in a different named instance - SQLSRV\PRIINST
Now I would like to move all of the database stuff to an existing SQL 2008 R2 cluster (SQLCLUSTER) and decommission the SQLSRV server.  SQLCLUSTER already exists and the default instance is already in use (for other applications) for both database engine
    services and reporting services.
    From my understanding:
     - SQL 2008 R2 Reporting Services cannot be clustered
     - Best practise is to install Reporting Services Point on a remote site server rather than a CAS server
     - SSRS can be installed on nodes in SQL cluster as standalone installs - with the caviat that they don't use instance names already in use
    So I plan to:
     - Move CAS database to new named instance on cluster eg SQLCLUSTER\CASINST
     - Move primary database to new named instance on cluster eg SQLCLUSTER\PRIINST
     -  Install SQL Reporting Services on one of the cluster nodes (unclustered) using a named SSRS instance eg SQLCLUSTERNODE1\SCCMREPORTING
    -  This article points out some interesting results of not have a default instance -  http://magalhaesv.wordpress.com/2012/05/24/system-center-configuration-manager-x-sql-server-reporting-services-x-wmi-english-version/
     - Move Reporting Services Point from SQLSRV\CASINST to the cluster node eg SQLCLUSTERNODE1\SCCMREPORTING
I have read on some forums (eg
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlsetupandupgrade/thread/40ad0cb4-a464-4576-b824-957ed6e1b2e2) things like '' If you have an app like SCCM that requires a default instance of SSRS, you are out of luck if your cluster already has a default
instance of the database engine.", but I cannot find this anywhere in Microsoft documentation.  From the MS documentation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/7fd0d4f5-14e0-4ec7-b2e6-3b67487df555#BKMK_InstallReportingServicesPoint)
I understand that as long the current user has read access to WMI on the remote site server where SQL Reporting Services is installed, you should be able to use a named instance for SQL Reporting Services and successfully install the Reporting Services Point
    on it.
    So a 2 part question:
     - Anybody see any obvious flaws in my high level plan?
     - Anybody care to comment on the SCCM requiring a default instance of SSRS?
My Microsoft Core Infrastructure & Systems Management blog -
    blog.danovich.com.au

Yes, I know this is an old post, I’m trying to clean them up, Did you figure this out, if so how?
    http://www.enhansoft.com/
    Hi Garth,
Yes we moved the DBs and RS as outlined above. As expected, we needed to have a default instance of RS because otherwise the SCCM console doesn't see the Reporting Services instance when you try to deploy the Reporting Services site role.
    So the above plan worked.
