How will Logic Pro X run with a 2006 iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.16 GHz, 4GB ram)?
I have a 2006 iMac 2.16 GHz, 4GB ram, Intel Core 2 Duo. I am not planning on using plug-ins, I am a beginning artist and Logic Pro seems to have more than what I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes it will.. I would recommend you use the combination of Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and LPv9.1.5 (or 9.1.8 if you have to..) with that particular hardware to get the best performance out of it... I would not recommend running any OS X version higher than 10.6.8 as each new version of OS X from then onwards.. placed a bigger performance hit on the hardware... and frankly, less stability with LP9.
As to how well it will run on that hardware.. will more depend on the sort of loads you place on it.. depending on the type and content of the music you wish to compose... It will run and you should be able to create reasonable sized projects.. but again, it all depends on the plugins used.. the number of them... the number of tracks and so on... so to give a more precise answer is difficult.

Will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?
hi there guys,
will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?
I'm not sure if my machine is 64 bit - it is the current model base mac mini.
Many thanks for any help you can offer !
SimonSkiJumptoes is right. 4GB is not enough to comfortably run Logic X.
Your Mac Mini will need DDR3 SODIMM RAM. That website seems incredibly steep though. I guess that's the price of finding it for you. You're better off going to any below:

My iMac will not startup, I have tried everything, reset PRAM, attempt to boot into SAFE mode, I am unable to do so. I am currently booted up hard drive to mount.
Im having same problem and I have exhausted my knowledge of how to fix.
I can see the device is system profiler. Nothing comes up in Audio/Midi Set up though.
Garageband doesnt detect anything until I activate a network session then garageband says there is a midi input but I still get no sound whatsoever. -
Traveling with the 24" iMac Intel Core duo
I'm going to a convention for week and have promised to report in on my experiences. All I have is this iMac and the hotel does not offer computer rentals in their "business center" although they have free wifi. I'm thinking that I'll take the iMac with me. I'm driving and I still have the original box (which is about the size of a small suitcase). What do you think? What are the pitfalls?
The box is fairly visible as to what is inside it.
Better is an http://www.ilugger.com/ case.
The only time I'd use the box is if I was bringing it in for service, as it makes it easier for them to ship it. One word of caution, there have been cases where people have been attacked at malls for carrying computers. Keep your eyes peeled for any strange people following you.
Also the luggage likely won't fit under your seat or overhead, and it risks getting lost as lost luggage in flight. So backup your data*:

How can i update my old 2006 iMac Intel core 2 duo running 10.6.8 to OSX Lion so that I can sync using iCloud with my newer devices? Mountain Lion is not an option for my older model and Lion is no longer available at App store.
Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

I have a Mac running OS X 10.4.11 with a 1.83 intel core duo what is the highest operating system upgrade that I can get?
You can check to see if yours meets the system requirements for Snow Leopard - that would be the highest; Lion will not run on your machine.
Please note that the minimum 1 GB RAM is a minimum - 2 GB would be better.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A
You can buy it at the Apple Store, other online resellers, or ebay (but be careful there to only bid on a new retail shrinkwrapped package to you don't get suckered into a used install disk which won't work on other machines). -

Can I run Lion on on a Intel Core Duo computer?
Can I run Lion on on a Intel Core Duo computer?
I have on of the Intel Core Duo macbook.
I hope on othe apple people can answer that for me.This is my Macbook and I seem to be able to run a depleted Lion operating system on it
no full screen on some applications. no response to multi swipe actions, No Air Drop. and so on and so on. Also when it loaded it stalled with no real information and i had to go to reload Lion which then instigated further download of 6 minutes to load a slightly amended copy of Lion. thought i had lost all my info but it did all reappear
It does have Launchpad and Mission Control but i seem to have lost my Isight camera in Photo booth and Skype. this has happened occasionaly before and a reboot brings it back for a while.
Ah well Is it time to up grade the laptop?? Do i need a laptop?? Anyway ill keep this one for a bit and see how it goes at least some of the changes work.

Which O/S upgrade is recommended for a MAC Book Pro17 with Intel Core Duo 2.16 GHz
Which O/S upgrade is recommended for a MAC Book Pro17 with Intel Core Duo 2.16 GHz
I am using os x 10.4.11.
Do I need to upgrade to 10.5.xx? Will this platform suport 10.6.xx? If 10.6 will work do I need to install 10.5 first?
Thanks...Hi. Your computer can be upgraded to either Leopard 10.5 or Snow Leopard 10.6. 10.6 will be much easier to find and will be less expensive. Leopard is not required prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard.

EA Game (Harry Potter Deluxe Edition) will not play on iMac Intel Core Duo
I have repeatedly tried opening the EA/Aspyr Harry Potter games (Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets) on my iMac intel core duo. It fails to open, with all attempts ending in a window that tells me it has failed and offering the option to cancel, retry, or report problem to Apple. This occurs with both discs/games. Is the software simply not advanced enough for the new iMac? Has anyone opened this at all?
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)They are both Aspyr ports of EA games. I've run both on my G4 Macs in the past but can't comment on their compatibility with the Intel processor.

Will Logic Pro 8 Work with OSX 10 .7.5
Is Logic Pro 8 compatable with LION on a Mac Book Pro ?
2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 2 GB
Thanks for your help.CCTM wrote:
Hi
Logic 8.0.2 runs fine in Lion. The installer on the original dvd's will not run however, so you would need to install it using Pacifist.

2G of RAM is a bit low.
2 GB is a bit lean, but LP 8 should be OK-ish with it. I used to run LP 8 on a G4 with only 1.8 GB. I would recommend the OP to install Menumeters, to keep an eye on RAM use. I ran Tiger (10.4.11), Lion probably has a bigger RAM footprint. If at all possible, go to 4 or even 8 GB. -
Will logic pro 9 ( work with....
newbie here..will logic pro 9.0 or 9.1 work on a G5 2.0 dual with 4 meg ram..on leopard 10.5.8
9.0.* will, 9.1 won't. Both are officially unsupported on PPC, 9.0.* versions run fine though. 9.1 won't, it cannot be installed on PPC, only on Intel.

All of a sudden my MacBook Pro (Granted it is an old computer) started having a red cast to the display. All shading and shadows are red now. Up until yesterday, I never had any problems with the display. Is it just getting too old? Computer works fine otherwise.

I am running 10.5.8 on my iMac and want to upgrade to Lion. Was told to upgrade to Snow Leopard first. Purchased the Snow Leopard install DVD from Apple, but it begins the installation process then says CD is dirty. Hooked up an external DVD drive and tried again, got the same message. I literally unwrapped the disc and put it directly into the drive...it couldn't have gotten so scratched or dirty that it wouldn't work.
Here is my system info:
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 1.5 GB
Any ideas on what I can do? I've read that there were tons of problems with this disc/upgrade...
Thanks!Call the place you bought Snow Leopard from, and ask for them to replace the disk as it or your DVD drive is obviously defective. As others have noted, you can't upgrade to Lion regardless.
That said, before you install 10.6, be sure you really are prepared for it: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
And if after getting a replacement 10.6 disk it fails to install, verify your PRAM battery is not over 4 years old, and that your optical drive isn't dirty by bringing it in for service.
