How will re-downloading Mavericks effect my Macbook Pro?

I downloaded and installed Mavericks on my Macbook Pro months ago. It says its using the OS X Version 10.9.1. I accidentally clicked to download Mavericks again while browsing through the App Store. I currently have the download paused and I'm not sure what to do. My computer is already running the system and I don't see a way to stop the download. How will it effect my computer, if I let the download complete?

All that will happen if you let it complete is you'll get an application called "Install OS X Mavericks" in your Applications folder. You can delete it with no ill effects.

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

I just downloaded Maverick on my Macbook Pro from 2011. When I try to open iPhoto, it says that I have an old version that doesn't work with Maverick. None of the solutions stated on this forum work for me, because there are no options displayed.

After downloading Maverick on the MacBook Pro that I bought in 2011, I am unable to open iPhoto. The message says "You can't use this version of the application "iPhoto" with this version of OS X. You have "iPhoto" 9.2.3" What??? That is ridiculous. Why doesn't Maverick download everything? I have an old iPhoto version and it still works with Mavericks, the version before yours, that is puzzling.

Go to a Office type store or online and buy a copy of Windows 7 Home Basic, Home or Pro (whatever) and stick the 64bit DVD into the computer.
You'll have to first learn about Bootcamp if your going to want to dual boot, it's complex and a hassle, but gives full hardware performance.

Another way is to first install VMFusion, Parallels or VirtualBox and then install Windows into that, Windows runs like a file in a window on OS X. You can run Windows programs in that, but it's not as powerful as BootCamp method, but more convenient for most normal (non-hardware taxing) programs.

Make sure you are logged into your admin account to download Mavericks.
System Preferences > Users & Groups > Password
Make sure the Firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
Disable anti virus software if installed.
Network monitoring apps such as Little Snitch or Growl can prevent App Store downloads
Mavericks is a 5.35GB file. Make sure there's a least 15% free storage space.
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage

How do I download iLife on my MacBook Pro (for free) after purchasing a new iOS device

Hello,
I watched the most recent keynote address just like everybody else and was very happy to hear that Apple was going to provide the new iLife and iWork software for free with the purchase of a new Mac device or iOS device. So, I went and purchased a new iPhone 5S. Now how do I get my free copy of this software on my MacBook Pro (Mid-2010) running Mavericks?
Any help would be appreciated.

You must be running Mavericks and have purchased the iLife 11 apps, either they came with the Mac or from a purchased iLIfe 11 disk, in order to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5 for free.

Messages is iChat+
iChat "Stopped" at version 6 in Lion and Messages in Mountain Lion is version 7
It will do everything iChat did/does and it does the iMessages bit as well.
Upgrading form Lion normally has your Jabber and AIM valid IDs and Names in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars and enabled for Messages
They should also appear in Message Menu > Preferences > Accounts and have their "Enable this Account " box ticked.
Buddy lists are brought to the Front (and on view) from the Window Menu > Buddies (By Default a combined list)
In the Preferences > General Section you can unlink them by Unticking "Show all Accounts in One List".
The iMessages account takes an Apple ID and does not have a Buddy List
The Messages Window is a interface and tabbed Chat window.
Click the New Message icon top left
Then the Blue + icon top right that appears
Select Contacts
Select "Contact" that has either Apple ID or iPhone Number (they need to have registered with iMessages as well).

I went to my friend's house yesterday for Christmas dinner and we went on her Mac and went on photobooth and started goofing around and taking silly pictures. I recently upgraded my early 2008 MacBook Pro from a 250GB (5400) to a Western Digital Scorpio Black 750GB (7200) HDD. I notice the drive and my mac are faster, and it doesn't make noise to my knowledge. It is very dependable, and I am glad I upgraded. You mentioned you have a MacBook... What year is it? I know my brothers is an early 2008 MacBook and he upgraded it from a 160GB (5400) to a Western Digital Scorpio Black 640GB (7200) and that has been deemed as the max that model can take. I am not sure what the max is for the year you might have unless yours is the same as my brothers.
Basically speaking my brother and I have noticed a significant difference in the scorpio black drives we have installed, and believe me we don't regret it. We also found these drives for real cheap on Amazon.com. Here are some drives you might like, and hopefully they are cheaper in cost for you:
