How would you like to open this file?

I'm using Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13CO and I'm using Adobe Reader 9.3.2.  We have recently upgraded the browser and reader mentioned.  Now when I open a PDF document within the browser, it asks me how I would like to open the file, i.e. Read-Only or Edit mode.  We certainly can't edit these PDF's, so is there any way to get rid of this prompt and just open the PDF's in Read-Only mode?
Thanks

Hi ,
As far as I know, This is a default feature. and is not recommended to delete or deactivate this pop up.
This is a feature of office and there is a dll called owssupp.dll which is responsible for getting the popup to open.
You can go to IE tools> addon settings and deactivate the above dll (sharepoint open document class). But if you do so, then the other office office files which are word/excel/pptx etc.. would aslo gets affected and they also wont get the popup.
Hope this helps.

  • Task Scheduler - How do you want to open this file

When I manually select to run a scheduled task it prompts me for which program I want to use to open it. if I let the scheduled task run at its scheduled time it shows it has run but doesn't actually do the task in the action.
the action is simply to run a vbs script, in the program/script box contains the full path to the script I wish to run c:\scripts\myscript.vbs
there are no arguments. I know someone is going to say you should put cscript.exe in that box and the script location as the parameter but that's not the point, it produces a command prompt that way which I don't want appearing and this worked fine in windows
7 the way I described above. this was an upgrade from windows 7 to windows 8, so I was hoping everything was going to run fairly smoothly by keeping all my settings, but there are some odd things going on, this being one of them.
how could I make this script run like it used to and without showing the command prompt window. cmd /c cscript c:\scripts\myscript.vbs also doesn't make the command prompt window disappear, it remains until the script finishes.
    thanks

  • This file is locked or in Use.  Would you like to open a copy of it?

I use AppleWorks more than anything else, and understand the work arounds. Here is the problem, everytime I open a previous file I get this message, "This file is locked or in Use. Would you like to open a copy of it?" I copied applications from a previous iMac. When I try to open copy of the document, I get the above message. When I try the save command I can't, even a save as doesn't work either. Any thoughts or ideas for a resolution.

I have found that this problem is due to OS X's ownership & permissions. When you create & save a document in AppleWorks in OS X the file is owned by you & no one else can make changes without your permission. If you don't have the same account name as on the other Mac, you'll need to change the permissions. Click on the file to select it, then choose "Get Info" from the File menu. Now click on the triangle next to "Ownership & Permissions" & change Group & Others permissions to "Read & Write."
The save problem may be solved by deleting the AppleWorks preferences.

  • HT1386 Hello, When trying to sync, I get the following message.  This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone "Terri George's iPhone". Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?

while trying to sync with my iphone I recieve the message: This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “Terri George’s iPhone”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?  When I put in my password and hit authorize, I get a message telling me there was an unknown error (-50).  Would love to sync today.  Any help would be appreciated.

The -50 error is documented in this article:
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    Here is a synopsis:
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • Itunes - disable, would you like to download this now

Each time I download from itunes the dialog box keeps asking me the same question ."would you like to download this now" How do I disable this permanently?

I'm not sure this will work, but I think it's worth a try:
In iTunes' menu, go to Store > View Account.  Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Scroll down to "Reset all warnings for buying and downloading" and click the "Reset" button.  Maybe that will help?

  • Problem with the Photomail option within " How would you like to share ?"

I have a PC with Windows 7 and Elements 10 installed. For the past couple of days, when I attempt to share photos using the Photomail option under "How would you like to share ?" column , after selecting the recipient, I get an error message dialogue box that says : "Elements 10 Organizer has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". Then the Organizer stays closed down until I reopen it. However, I am able to share photos using the "Email Attachment" option.
What could be wrong with the "Photomail" option ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have seen this sort of failure caused by a permissions problem.
    Try this:
    Close elements
Create a shortcut on your desktop which goes direct to the organizer
Right click on that shortcut and select "Run as Administrator" (even if you are an administrator)
    Now try your Photomail again
If it does work, you only need to do this once, it seems to correct itself after that.
    Good luck
    Brian

  • I'm getting this error message  "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPod '___'s iPod.' Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?" I have authorized the computer.

I just purchased songs on itunes, I can play them on my windows 7, but when I try to sync the ipod, I get the error "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items on "Stephanie's ipod" Would you like to authorize this computer for purchases from the itunes store.  When I authorize it, it says it is already authorized. Then the process starts all over again. Help.

You can't change the Apple ID that the Authorize dialog comes up with by default. It's showing you that Apple ID for a reason: it means that the items you want to play were purchased using that Apple ID and therefore you need to authorize your computer with that Apple ID. Changing the Apple ID given completely defeats the entire purpose.
If you don't know the password to the given Apple ID, then you will no longer be able to play those items.

This while everything was working fine.
Please advise what I can do with this message.
When I press autorize, it comes up with a unknow appleID. When I use apple ID's that work - it comes with the message that the computer is autorized. but then the autorization message comes back.
