How wrap long lines in incoming mail

Some email arrives with VERY long lines, and so are clumsy to read. Is there a way to cause TB to wrap them to a specified length?

I thought that that point might be raised [hoped it wouldn't], and yes, if I were sending these instructions to the average user I'd do exactly that. In this case, the recipients are likely not skilled enough to deal with attachments and possibly not equipped to open them.
Really, having created a formatted document in another application AND then wanting to copy it intact into an email, you'd think there'd be a reason.
"Yours is not to wonder why; yours is but to do or die" [answer or die :D]
And this part of the discussion wouldn't even have to be had if the rewrap advice were given as 'text wrapping in plain text emails' [careful, this deletes your formatting and images]. I found out the hard way that the rewrap wouldn't help with html.
Incidentally, anyone creating content in Word or similar might consider pasting it into an html editor and checking for the presence of non-breaking spaces ( & n b s p ; ) that stymie line wrapping.

In Java, How can long lines of code be cut / separated into multiple short lines?
    Example
    System.out.printf( "%d\t%d\t%s\t%s\t%s\t%s\t\t%s\n", arrayIndex ,  part[ arrayIndex ], name[arrayIndex], units[arrayIndex], price[arrayIndex], units[arrayIndex] * price[arrayIndex], total[ arrayIndex ]   );Thanks

    System.out.printf( "%d\t%d\t%s\t%s\t%s\t%s\t\t%s\n",
    arrayIndex ,
    part[ arrayIndex ],
    name[arrayIndex],
    units[arrayIndex],
    price[arrayIndex],
    units[arrayIndex] * price[arrayIndex],
total[ arrayIndex ]   );P.S. It looks to me like you have an array for each attribute of something. This is not OO and you should consider creating a class holding the information about each 'Part' or whatever it is. You will then just need a collection of Parts.

Firefox 4 is not wrapping long lines for www.lindasgourmetcookies.com. This worked in previous versions of Firefox. See "URL of affected site" for an example. Lines also wrap properly on IE

  • HT4864 how do i change my incoming mail server name?

My incoming mail messages on my MacBook suddenly stopped coming in yesterday. I changed nothing, but now it says I have the wrong password. I checked my incoming mail server settings and think this could be the problem, but do not know how to change it. It is greyd out.

Since you're posting in the icloud forum, I'm going to assume you're using an icloud email account.
You're not supposed to edit its settings directly.  Quit Mail.  Click your apple >> system preferences >> icloud.  Remove the checkmark beside mail.  Wait a minute and recheck it.  Then try the account in the mail.app again.
If you've manually added the account because you're not running Lion or Mountain Lion, then you can check the settings in Mail menu >> preferences >> accounts >> select the account.  The correct settings for icloud mail is here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864

  • How do I populate the "incoming mail server" field in mail.

My icloud account is not able to send or recieve emails. Other accounts are. When checking preferences I see the Incoming mail server field is empty and I can not populate it. How can I get round/fix
    this, please?

Your iCloud email account is automatically set up when you check Mail in System Preferences.
Go to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Mail, restart your Mac, then go back and check Mail again.  This will remove, then automatically set up your iCloud email account again with the proper settings.

      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Well, I was going to suggest using a mail rule.  If you have already tried that I would think that the rule you have created didn't match the messages.  I think if you still need help, you will probably need to post some more information about the type of messages you are receiving and the rules you have tried, then someone may be able to assist.
There are many guides to using rules in Apple Mail, I'm assuming you are familiar with them, but if not, Googling "apple mail rules" will bring up some examples.
    Hope that helps.

  • Mac Mail taking too long to load incoming mail

It's been taking a very long time for Mail to load my emails for the past few weeks. I tried updating to Maverick, but that did not help. I also deleted a ton of emails--didn't help. My largest inbox (I have five, but only one has many messages) is now at 50% capacity, but the problem has not lessened. The incoming mail prompt usually says something like, "Loading 110 of 125 emails," and after 15 minutes or more it will load 1-2 new messages. I don't really understand what's going on anymore--there seem to be a lot of folders, my Sent folder is showing unread emails (?). I don't know the function of Archive--tried to export all those to a folder on my harddrive so I could delete them, but that didn't work.
Help! The constant processing is slowing down my entire system with slow payoff from Mail and is driving me nuts!

P.S. I have had no success Rebuilding, and cannot find the Terminal application on my computer.

  • In Yosemite, how do I change my incoming mail server?

In Yosemite, I can't change my incoming mail server.  I have to use one for my office network, and another when outside the network.  In the older OS I could easily change it (even though is would always rearrange the order of my email accounts).  Now the field for the incoming mail server is grayed out and can't be changed.
    Help!!

And now the solution after an online chat with the great Apple support staff.  In Mail Preferences, Accounts, Advanced tab, uncheck the "Automatically detect and maintain account settings" box.  Save the settings when closing the preferences box.  Then open preferences again and note the incoming mail server box can be changed.
...now if the software engineers can fix the annoying bug of the order of accounts being changed to "Apple Order" whenever changes are made, the Mail app will be much improved.

  • How to inactivate notices of incoming Mail on the iCloud web interface?

The new iCould interface for Safari shows a notice for each incoming e-mail.
I would like to inactivate this feature and cannot find how.
On the iPhone it is possible to select for which sender we want such notices, or to simply stop them from appearing.
    Any cue ?

Apple are unlikely to read your comments, if you have any suggestions that you think might enhance iCloud you can send Apple your feedback here.

  • Option to automatically re-wrap long lines

On some USENET posts, when reading, I get the original message in one long continuous line. I believe this is because it has been posted in HTML (might be wrong ....).
I know CTRL-R will re-wrap it to something more sensible, but I cannot find anything that looks revelant in Tools|Options to set this behaviour by default. Also I *don't* want to re-wrap other posts that do behave normally.
Am I missing something, or is this a potential feature ?
    cheers

I'm not aware of such an extension, but you can do something similar with Find and Replace (assuming that the content is "pure" text, that is without html tags within the text).
    1. Select the text you want to work with.
    2. Open the Find and Replace dialog (CTRL+F).
    3. Choose "Selected Text" in the "Find in" list
    4. In "Find" enter (change 10 to whatever number you want to break after):
    ([\w\W]{10})
    5. In "Replace" enter:
    $1<br />
    6. At the end of the replace text, hit SHIFT+Enter if you want to have a acual line break inserted after the BR tag
    7. Check the "Use Regular Expression"  box.
    8. Click the "Replace All" button.
