Howdo I change Adobe Flash Player defaults

I have a fairly old PC (ca 3 years), with limited CPU power and Graphics capacity.
That means that Flash animations rather often steal all the CPU time i have, with nothing left for mouse or keyboard ot the all important 'x' in the upper right corner that should at least allow me to close the browser (Firefox) to get away from that page.
On lesser (or at least playeable) animations I can right click and see a setting for quality with 3 possibilities: LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH. It is invariabley set to high.
I would very much like the default to be LOW, in the hope that that would cause the flash player to steal less CPU so I could see and use such over-active flash pages.
Is there some way to change the default in the plugin or browser ?
Alternatively would it be possible to change the priority level of the flash player so it can not block basic PC functions like mouseclicks, keyboard or the "Close this window before grow violent" x.

I have a very old PC (ca 11 years), with very limited CPU power and graphics capacity, but I do not experience any of the symptoms you describe with the latest Flash Player.
I suggest that you uninstall your Flash Player with the uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html - if possible use the /clean option when running the uninstaller.  (I can give you detailed instructions if you don't know how to do that.)
Next open this document http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html, find section 5 and download the appropriate executable installer for your browser. Close all browser windows before you run the installer.
Hopefully this will cure the problems with Flash Player.

    Hi,
To change your password you will need to open System Preferences, then open Users & Groups, click on Change Password.  Change your password to a temporary one, then when you have finished you do the same procedure to change it back, by typing in the temp password then leaving the new password blank.  Hope this helps.

  • How do I set Adobe Flash Player as the default program to open SWF files?

    Basic Overview
I have this working fine at my home laptop, however I need this working for projects at school.
Whenever I want to open an SWF file at home, I simply double click it and open it in Adobe Flash Player (Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22) and I have no problems!
However, when I am at school I have to run SWF files within Internet Explorer, Adobe Flash Player IS installed, but the SWF files are not opened in that directly, they are opened within Internet Explorer.
    At Home
If I right click an SWF file at home and select "Open With" and then "Choose Default Program...", Adobe Flash Player is already there under the name 'Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22', so I can simply select it as the default. (On my home laptop)
    At School
At school if go to "Open With" and then "Choose Default Program...", Adobe Flash Player IS NOT there, only Internet Explorer and some other programs in the other programs box. (On my school laptop)
    Question
How can I assign Adobe Flash Player as the default program for opening SWF files (on my school laptop)? If I select "Browse..." and go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash there is no file with a description of 'Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22', is the file for the actual program located somewhere else or have I just no looked properly in the folder?
I really need these files opening in Adobe Flash Player directly and not in Internet Explorer (I know you can set the view to 100% and have it sized correctly)
Thanks you to everyone who helps!
-Charlie! (Yes I know I don't need to write this in a forum)

The standard Flash Player is a browser add-on, and not a standalone player.  So what actually opens when you open an SWF file at home?  Flash Player Projector?
If so, you also need to download it at your school, from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html, then do the file association.

  • How to make Adobe Flash Player the default player for .flv, .f4v files?

I have currently installed from Adobe the following applications:
    Adobe Bridge CS6 (64bit)
    Adobe Bridge CS6
    Adobe Dreamweaver CS6
    Adobe Encore CS6
    Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS6
    Adobe Extension Manager CS6
    Adobe Fireworks CS6
    Adobe Flash Professional CS6
    Adobe Illustrator CS6 (64bit)
    Adobe InDesign CS6
    Adobe Media Encoder CS6
    Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64bit)
    Adobe Prelude CS6
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
    Adobe SpeedGrade CS6
Adobe Flash Builder is not installed.
Adobe Premiere After Effects is not installed.
I've just downloaded Adobe Flash Player 13, but .flv files and .f4v files are not played by Adobe Flash Player. I've tried to make it default player but i didn't release which file .exe to browse for (by right-clicking and choosing Open with > Choose default program...).

There's a Flash Player Projector (standalone) in the Flash Professional CS6/Players folder, but it's usually outdated.
When browsing to an app to use from the Properties window, go there, but... download this one: Windows Flash Player 13 Projector  and replace the Flash Player that's in that folder.
If you're looking to test Flash files you've authored, then you'll need the Projector, but if you're just looking for a good player for FLV and F4V, then you should use VLC Media Player. http://www.videolan.org/

after i installed the new adobe flash player 10, i went on thelolcam on facebook and noticed it was zoomed in really far, and i don't know how to zoom back out, please help me?

You don't seem to understand. Please read my question. I cannot use anything in FireFox until I accept the demand of the AOL dialog:
    WARNING - BROWSER SETTINGS
Another program (that would be me using Google to restore my original settings) has changed your homepage and search settings( from the unwanted AOL hijack). Would you like to keep (HAH) your previous settings (i.e. the hijack - NO!)
KEEP AOL.COM AND AOL SEARCH (option box)
    ENABLE AOL HOMEPAGE PROTECTION
There are no other options, no opt-out, and I cannot use Firefox until I allow this hijack. IIf I try to click any FireFox function, it just dings - I can't even close the window, have to do it thru Task Manager. I am writing to you thru Chrome now because I cannot use Firefox.

You don't need an Adobe ID or password to install Flash Player, but you may need to provide your system's Administrator password during the installation.

Hello! I have Adobe Flash Player 11.3.31.232 As I can change the size of video (the size of the screen, a window) during viewing of rollers or films from the Internet? And whether there is a possibility to change the size of a window of a player during video viewings in public networks and dating sites? On your sites, unfortunately I couldn't find information necessary to me.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you install an application, you have to type your user password, which is different than your Apple ID password. You set your user password when you got your computer.
If you do not remember the user password, follow these steps to reset the user password > http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101 You will have to reset your Keychain > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1631
