Howto block the refresh rate ?

Hello,
I am having a display issue with my monitor. It doesn't displays specific refresh rates so that I cannot anything when starting my mini mac. I know it checks on boot what monitor is connected to have the best display.
Actually I am using an old 15'' to force 60Hz display before plugin my IIyama monitor. It is annoying.
Anyone knows how to prevent this problem? Is there a solution whitout buying another monitor? I juste want to fix the refresh rate and don't let it detect on bootup.
Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, there is no way to specifically stop Mac OS from detecting a display. That would be a handy feature in cases like yours.
The best thing I can think to do is to make a VNC connection between your mini and another computer. In this way you should be able to make a useable resolution selection on the mini from the other computer. Once you do this, it will stay that way for good.

  • The refresh rate for Mac mini 2014 at 3840x2160 using Thunderbolt

    Here: http://www.apple.com/mac-mini/specs/
, it says that the refresh rate for resolution 3840x2160 for HDMI is 30 Hz.
I'm wondering if it's the same using Thunderbolt, or more correctly DisplayPort.
    Thanks!

If I could ask another question regarding this... is 30 Hz poor even for desktop work? Or movies.
I believe the 30Hz is progressive and therefore for movies/video would normally look quite good. However for sports e.g. soccer which has a fast moving object i.e. the ball it would be less good. I have also seen comments suggesting that for computer use it is also less desirable particularly when you are scrolling as this entails affectively the entire screen image 'moving fast'.
This is not based on personal use as I cannot afford a 4K screen yet myself. However for DVDs 24p is considered a to give a good image for movies and this I can confirm from personal experience so 30p should be even better. Obviously 60p is better still but for that you need either a Mac Pro, iMac or MacBook Pro Retina.
It is probably going to depend on what you will be using it for. Perhaps you should consider spending a little more for a MacBook Pro Retina which can do 60 Hz.

I need to find out what the refresh rate is. I went into system preferences and clicked on display, and saw refresh rate, but it said n/a. I need mine to be at least 70 hz, I can't find the answer anywhere.

  • Setting the refresh rate on B1 dashboards

    Hello,
is there any way to modify the refresh rate for the standard SAP B1 dashboards that come with PL12?
any idea what the default refresh rate is?
    thanks, dan

    Hi Dan,
Currently, there is no refresh rate setting for dashboard in PL12. You could request it in the SBO product development collaboration forum.
I think it is because the report is for dashboard SAP B1. Dashboard is management report and is not daily operational report. No need to use refresh rate.  Probably, when run it in the excelcius, you can set it. I am not sure but you may check it

  • How do I increase the refresh rate provided by the Tag Engine?

    Good Day,
Part of an application I've designed reads in various analog inputs from various sources (3 serial, a handful from the NI-6229 and some temps from the USB-9211A).  My Labview software (LV v7.1) is set to read in the values at 8 Hz (every 125ms).  Though when running, the Tag Engine online provides updated information about once a second (for the both the NI inputs and the serial inputs which have been setup to be read throug the Tag Engine aswell).  When going in the tag configurator, the groups that the channels are part of is set up with "Update Rate (secs)" = 0.20s by default.  I don't even get that.  Just a bout once/sec.
I've tried looking through MAX a bit but can't seem to find anything there myself.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Sean

    Khalid,
Right at this time, I don't have the ability to throw an indicator into the code and run it to display as the stand is currently running clearing out a backlog that occurred over the last couple weeks.  That's why I had loaded the tag monitor while they run, and could see there that the values updated (and were timestamped) about every second.  I may try getting in there to accomplish what you suggest when they should be shutting down in about an hour and a half (if below doesn't work).  Does the tag monitor not update whenever there is a value change (and update the timestamp accordingly)?  That's what I understood from what I've read about it.
I think you may have pegged it though on how the server was configured.  I went into the server explorer and found a setting under LookoutOPCServer->Properties->Groups titled "Update Rate (msec)" which is currently set to 1000.  I'm going to try this out and will repost afterwards (hopefully when it works ).
Thank you much (again) for your valueable time,
    Sean

  • What refresh rates does the Macbook Pro 2011 support? (Internal Display)

While I know you used to be able to change the refresh rate via General Settings, now you have to use an app or probably something terminal related.
Ignoring this, I just got a new 2011 MBP when my old one couldn't be fixed and after having the display/resolution upgraded I noticed that, when scrolling webpages, there is a bit of... I dunno, ghosting or something? Nothing that indicates there is a problem with the display or card, but it's something that could probably be fixed by a stronger refresh rate.
So my question is as the subject states. What is supported? I read 60 and 75 is typical for Apple, but I want confirmation. Remember, internal display, not external.
    Thanks!

For some reason Displays no longer shows that information, so I don't know what it is. However, the last time I saw the information on a 2009 MBP it was 75.
I'd think there is a utility around that might provide the info like Display Maestro 1.1.7 or SwitchResX.

  • Refresh rate of the screen?

What is the refresh rate of the screen on the iMac?

I think the other poster was meaning what is the response time of the LCD in milliseconds.
A note about response times, they are generally bogus when it comes to picture quality because they are measured differently by each manufacturer. The general use of the LCD needs to be taken into consideration. I have had no issues with ghosting in movies or anything I have done, but I don't do extreme gaming either. The response time is good enough for about anything a person might do with the computer, this shouldn't be a deciding factor on whether or not to purchase the machine.

  • How to change the UWL refresh rate for all portal users.

    Hi Portal Experts,
How to change the UWL refresh rate for all portal users?
Users can individually change the refresh rate through "Personalise View" in UWL.But we want this to set it for all users(we have 10k portal users).

  • Problems getting a higher framebuffer refresh rate

Hello everyone just changed from Gentoo to Arch
Anyway here is my problem, I usually use a framebuffer resolution of 1280x1024-32@75. I used to use a Nvidia BFG Geforce Ti4200SE 128MB and it had no problem of booting into the above resolution. I recently upgraded to a Nvidia Chaintech Geforce 6600 GT 128MB AGP and since then the refresh rate stays at 60 regardless of the resolution (tried 1024x768). In Xorg the refresh rate does change to 75.
    Solutions I have tried are:
Patching my kernel with the vesafb-tng patch and setting my resolution and refresh rate in the kernel, but that didn't work.
Using fbset, found this on gentoo forums.:

    $modeline =~ /".*"s+([d.]+)s+(d+)s+(d+)s+(d+)s+(d+)s+(d+)s+(d+)s+(d+)s+(d+)/;

    Some thoughts...
how much is calibration?  how much is that TV?
some say TV's should be calibrated again after 6 months of usage where the TV has had some break-in.  How much is that second calibration???
some say they just run on theatre or cinema mode to save costs
some say they don't like the calibration and flip back to the normal, bright or vivid mode.  Personally I hate to see the highlights punched out and looseing detail for the brightness
some purchase Spyder or XRite calibration tools
some will use Apps to do their own calibration (note you need a cable or a wireless box), however you don't want someone who is colorblind making those calibration decisions (like me)

When shopping for a TV I visited several retailers.  For the stores who calibrated their displays.... I had a tough time deciding which one to get because they were ALL good.  I could not tell which one was LCD, LED, or Plasma.  Yes calibration is worth it, but how much do you want to spend?

  • IPad Air display refresh rate for full screen movies?

What exactly happens if I play a movie on the iPad full screen with a rate of e.g. 24p, 25p or 50i?
The stated maximal refresh rate is 60Hz.
Will this rate be reduced when playing movies?
Or will frames be dropped / interpolated if the frame rate and the refresh rate don't match?
Or will the movie be sped up / slowed down?
When using the HDMI adapter, I can see that it always outputs 60p, regardless of the movie frame rate. But maybe this is different on the internal panel.
    Thanks for any insight!

Should it happen again double tap the screen with three fingers. Then go to settings> general> accessibility> zoom> off.

  • How Can I change my refresh rate to 75hz for on LCD using 91.47 drivers?

    HI,
I use a 19" LCD and have always changed my refresh rate to 75hz to avoid ghosting in games like fifa 06 (60hz causes a nasty ghost on my 8ms panel).  I have been using the 81.98 drivers and could create an override to use 75.   The new driver will allow me to change the refresh rate to 75, but will not let me use it - I get the message "The custom resolution cannot be added".   I have coolbits2 installed.  Is there a registry setting that I can add to allow me to change the refresh rate?  If not, I'll just go back to the 81.98.  I am also using the DVI connection.
    Thank you,
    * This is on my Sli PC in my sig. *

I know that on my particular LCD monitor, if I go above the recommended rates, then the screen will just go black and won't let me see anything.  Usually it displays a message telling me that it cannot display.  I think it especially does this with the DVI connection.
You may have tried it allready, but just make sure that in your display properties you have unchecked the option to only display resolutions allowed by the monitor.
You may also want to try and see if it will let you do it with a VGA connection instead of the DVI.
Otherwise, you just may have to go back to the earlier driver.

  • Altering refresh rates

    Howdy folks!
I've got an 800mhz emac. The CRT is shot. I am able to use the external monitor plug. I had (have) an external Mac monitor but it is as big as the emac and I am running out of desk space. I bought a 15" Gateway LCD off a craigslister to park in front of the emac chassis. I got the message the the input was out of range for the monitor. I reconnected the mac monitor and tried to reset the refresh rate. There were other rates listed but they were greyed out and not accesible. After lots of reading on this board I found a link to an application called SwitchResX which allowed me to make the changes I need and the LCD is working now.
Here's the rub: SwitchResX is a 10 day limited shareware product. It costs $18.50 (or thereabouts) to register it. I will pay it in the end if I can't find relief elsewhere but I feel like I ought to be able to accomplish a change in video refresh rates without having to shell out $$ to a third party.
Anyone know of a more straightforwad, less costly way to achieve DIY video adjustments?
    TIA!

Bump for last minute plea before paying ....

  • External Monitor refresh rate conflict

I've got the PB 12" and for a longtime have been using a 17" Soyo monitor with the computer closed and Bluetooth devices. It's a great setup. Now one time disconnected it to take the powerbook, and now I can't run it with just the 17" monitor. I don't want two screens, and I don't want a 12" screen. However, every time I now try to close and wake up the computer, it says the there is a problem with the resolution and the refresh rate, it says it's "Out of Range". Now I figure it's because the computer is trying to send signals to my external monitor just like it was my Powerbook, but my screen can't show them because it has different specs than the powerbook monitor. Please help, if you need more information, please ask.

you have a CRT projector? If it is a 16:9 projector it doesn't really matter if the refresh rate is at 75 or 85 hz.
I know the x200 can do at least 75 hz at 720p, not sure if it can do any higher.
