Howto create a new theme?

Does anyone know how to make a new theme? I know you can adjust an existing one, but how can you make something like the revolutions theme where you design your own animation for the menu?

Error creating a new Theme

Hi
I get the following error when attempting to create a new Theme project "A project with the same location already exists". This is the second theme I am trying to create, in my folder \workspace\NW04SStack10Themes dir.
As an aside the reason I am creating a second project is because changes I make to the original one have not been applied the steps I took were:
1. to Generate for all browsers and subdesignparts
2. To save the Theme.
3. to copy to the directory <install>\J2E\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\temp\webdynpro\web\sap.com\tcwddispwda\global\SSR\themes
I have tried these steps and stopping starting the server on many ocassions.
Help appreciated applying the updates to the theme by answering either of the questions above.

Try saving the Theme with the changes in a different location and check whether it is working fine.

Created a new theme but no one else can see it in the workspace

I made a copy of a theme and modified it somewhat to give it a new look and feel. Right now it is only in the development workspace as a different theme ID. I switched one of our applications to use that theme. Someone else is trying to do the same thing and he does not see that particular theme when he chooses "from HTML DB Repository." We only see the themes 1-12, not the new one I just created.
Why is this? We also saw an option to choose new theme from import, but why would we need to import it if we are both using the same workspace? I am sure we will need to export to move to the QA and PROD workspaces, but isn't this new theme around SOMEWHERE in our development workspace? I am reading the documentation -- not finding the answer.
Can someone help? Thanks.

Thanks so much for the response. Yes, we had tried to do an export and although it worked, it gave a different theme number. Yet I will have to check out what you mentioned about making an application and subscribing to the templates. We do want to keep this standardized so that may be the answer.

Problem after creating a custom theme

Hi guys,
I created a new theme into Apex. Actually, I just changed the page "No tabs" from the basic blue template.
Then I applied this new theme to an application (this application perfectly works with the basic blue template from Apex).
The result seems good, my theme looks like what I wanted, but the application is "dead"!
It seems that the processes are all inactive when I apply my theme. Everything comes back to normal when I put again the basic template from Apex.
Does anyone have an idea about this? I certainly dropped something in my theme, but at the moment, I don't know what it could be...

I don't have any error when I run the application. It just doesn't do anything!
And I didn't forget to put the #HEAD# substitution, my theme starts like this :

How to create a custom theme for discussions similar to jive?

I have worked in Jive earlier and saw that there was greater flexibility in the way you can work with themes. Oracle has extended it and looks most of the features are removed.
In Jive, I was able to create a new theme and was able to change the look and feel for each piece of page that appeared in jive site. E.g I was able to change the ftl of header, fotter, account controls area etc. There were around 20 diffrent templates that were available and I could control each and every template to give a total diffrent look and feel for the Jive site.
How do I do the same with Discussions in WLS_Services now? Also don't see an option for defining themes for wiki site.
Do we have a developer guide for customizing discussions and wikis?

What should be the directory structure for new theme

I want to create a new theme for my BSP pages. Currently all my BSP are using /sap/public/bc/ur/Design2002/themes/sap_tradeshow/ur/ur_ie6.css for styling. I want to create a new theme named testTheme and want to call my bsp pages with sap-themeRoot=testTheme appended to the URL.
I am not sure under which directory should I create the new directory. Should I create a testTheme directory to Design2002 or ur or sap_tradeshow directory in the MIME repository structure?

Hi Amit,
Run the program BSP_UPDATE_MIMEREPOS using SE38 and export the whole theme that you want to base your new theme on (located in /SAP/PUBLIC/BC/UR/Design2002/themes) to a local folder.
Make your changes locally and then use the program once again to import the new theme folder into the MIME Repository (for example /SAP/ZBSP_THEME/myNewTheme).

New Theme

Hi all,
I have a little problem I cannot understnad. I have created a new theme starting from a template directly on portal (not with NWDS). I saved the theme and in the Theme Editor I can see my own theme and if I click on it I can open and modify it again. But when I follow the link Personalize and choose Theme I can see only the Standard Sap theme but not my own one. Can anybody please explain me how to use the theme created?

Add your theme to portal desktop.
Go to System Administration -> Portal Display -> Desktop & Display Riles -> Portal Content -> portal users -> standard portal users -> Default Portal Desktop.
Add your theme to the portal desktop and save..
Then only it will be visible in personlize link.

Can't apply a new theme to Captivate 7 projects

Anyone else experiencing a problem applying a new theme in Captivate 7.0.0.118 on Windows and.or Mac?
Whenever I try to apply a new, or built-in theme I get a popup stating "Cannot apply the new theme".
I haven't had the need to do this recently, but now that I do, it doesn't work in either of my development environments of several projects.
Can anyone offer a solution, or is something recently broken in Cap7?

That didn't help. But let me tell you a bit more about the scenario, symptoms, what I found and how I resolved it.
Scenario and Synptoms:
After creating some new styles affecting nearly every object in the Object Style Manager, I created a new theme and added it to my themes panel. The new theme saved successfully, with not indication of errror. I then relauched C7 and opened an existing project. When I tried to apply a standard theme, it appeared to be working until the end, when it popped a window stateing the new theme could not be added (no indication as to why). When I tried to apply my new custom them C7 crashed immediatly, with no error message at all and not even a message when I relaunched C7 that there had been a problem during the previous runtime.
I followed your directions on Win7 and the problem did not change.
Findings and Resolution:
Suspecting a corrupt or bad theme, I renamed it and relaunched C7. This time when I tried to change to a standard theme, everything worked as expected.
I then created another custom theme like my original (before the extensive style changes) and everything still works as expected.
If I try to apply the suspected theme now, it appears to work the first time, but if I try and changeit the problems start over again as I described above.
Summary:
I suspect the custom theme was somehow corrupted. If Adobe is interested in testing further, perhaps I can send you the corrupted theme. For now, I have a reasonable work-around.

Importing theme with same number = new theme?

I'm adding application enhancements to production from our test database instance. So I exported the theme (#301) from the test db, then imported it to the production db. I was surprised that the Install Theme screen showed:
Export File Version:      2007.01.08
Exported From Application ID:      148
Exported Theme ID:      301
Exported Theme Name:      Harris - Blue Gray
Install Into Application      148
Action:      New theme will be created in application 148.
I was surprised the Action line says it'll create a new theme, when the documentation says it will update the existing theme. I even looked in the export file and it has a line to delete the old theme. When the installation finishes, I see that Theme 301 is the current theme, plus there's now Theme 302, which never existed before.
So I was wondering... Are my theme changes from the test instance in Theme 301? And it backed up the old theme to #302 first? Or have my changes not been applied?
I compared them and it looks like Apex is not replacing my previous theme with the new one. I have to manually switch themes. [sigh]
I'm running Apex V3.0.1. I did this twice to make sure I wasn't messing up.

Gilles-
I think your problem is likely that you have the option to stack the copy with the original turned on. First, right-click on one of these photos and go to the stacking menu. If Unstack is not grayed out then you have a stack -- select Unstack to reveal all copies.
To change the automatic stacking of edited copies from Photoshop, when you next choose to edit a file, in the bottom left corner of the dialog is the check box for unstacking. Clear it, and that choice should "stick" until you change it again.

I need help. My three boys have brand new iPad mini's and I would like to set them up. I would like to create one new apple ID and have it shared by all three. This way they can share content (apps, music). How do I do that?

Looking for an information management solution. I have three boys that have brand new ipad mini's. I would like to set them up to manage information the easiest way.
My first thought was to use my apple ID for their apps and purchases. This would give me the advantage of seeing everything downloaded and be able to monitor this closely. The disadvantage to me, was that they would see all of my contracts, my apps, and my music.
My other thought was to create one new apple ID and to share that among the three boys. This way I would not have to worry about my information being on their ipads.
This is a very confusing situation for me. My goal is seperate my stuff from my kids stuff. Appreicate input from anyone who has in-depth experience with this as it applies to apple ID, icloud ID, and any detailed explaination of how to do this would be appreiciated. Thanks.

I think I will do this. I will use my apple ID and set face time and message to work independently. That solves one problrem. My other problem and maybe my bigger problem is that if I am using my apple ID, how do I iflter all of this so that my kids don't see my contacts, get my apps, etc. ?

Two iPod touch devices sharing an Apple ID. Can I create a new ID for one of them, and will I lose everything if I do?

My three young sons pooled their money and bought an iPod touch a few years ago. The oldest decided he wanted his own. We bought him one for Christmas last year, and I set it up using the same Apple ID. My oldest son downloaded some games but soon found whenever his brothers played the same games, the progress and changes were transferred to his device and vice versa. Is there a way to create a new Apple ID for the old device? If I am able to do that, will the younger kids lose all their pictures and videos? I am not concerned about them losing games or music. They have very little paid content on their iPod, but the older one has hit the age where he wants to start downloading music and better apps. Thank you for any help!!

Changing the ID does not erase any Data from the device
CHANGE ID
The ID is used in the following locations and you have to change them.
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
Settings>iCloud
and Settings>iTunes and App store
You have to sign out of ID (for iCloud you delete the iCloud account from the iPod) and sign in with other ID.
Note the following are resolved if you use Family Sharing (iOS 8 and later):
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
If the iPod has iOS 7 or later then you have the enter the password for Apple ID presently sign in Settings>iCloud.
Also, a Restriction can be set (Settings>General>Restrictions) the prevents changing accounts

You should be able to call the iPad using your Apple ID from the iPhone. When calling from iPad use the iPhone's phone number to initiate the call.

How can I select 5-star photos in one catalog and use them to create a new catalog

I've been using Lightroom since LR1. I now have several LR 5.5 catalogs generally organized by year and camera. I want to create a new catalog which will contain my best from each catalog. BUT, I don't want to remove the photos from their "home" catalog. The photos will continue to reside in both their original catalog and in the new "Portfolio" catalog. The easiest way to approach this is to filter photos in catalog "A" by rating, select all 5-star photos and create a new catalog containing just the selection. I don't want to export or remove them from their catalog or move them on disk. I want them to appear in BOTH catalogs. Since Lightroom is built on a database that merely points to image files, it seems like this should be possible.
I realize I can create an empty catalog and select File->Import from Another Catalog... , then locate the photos one at a time by name and location clicking the import checkbox - tedious is an understatement when you have several 10's of thousands of photos.
Any ideas?

This is incorrect. I accept that you think the database is getting slower, but the database (and really all databases) are designed to work pretty much the same regardless of the number of records, except for perhaps searching through the entire catalog. We have seen in this forum people who are now editing larger RAW files than a few years ago, they see it is slower, and decide it is the size of the database, rather than the size of their photos.
What aspects of Lightroom are slow? If it's scrolling and displaying the previews and searching, then it might be the database. If its displaying images in the Develop module, it is NOT the database at all.
Have you taken steps to improve the performance of the database, such as Optimizing it regularly? have you tried these performance tips: FAQ: Experiencing Performance related problems in Lightroom?
