HOWTO: Disallow printing/saving/selection on generated PDF?

Hi,
Situation:
1) I have written a process which successfully converts X documents to X PDF files. (CreatePDF2 - service)
2) The same process also successfully merges these generated PDF files to one single PDF. (InvokeDDX - service)
Problem:
I can print, save and select in the merged PDF (step 2 in situation).
The end-user who receives this merged PDF file, may not be able to invoke any of these commands.
Meaning the PDF Result of the InvokeDDX service must be: non-printable + non-selectable + non-savable.
Question:
How can I restrict these settings?
I find no such option nor in the InvokeDDX webservice, nor in the CreatePDF2 service.
I generate the DDX manually and I can fully modify the written LiveCycle process which I created a week ago.
Thanks in advance!

Impossible due to restricted policies.

  • Print/Save Selected Text to PDF

    I want to use Mozilla Firefox very much for a long time. I like it because the UI is very clean, easy to use, the icon vey pretty. When I use in my Android Mobile, it is very easy and intelligent to select content of page site. Very good!
    But I had to install Chrome instead so I've always been using "Print a selected content to PDF" but I couldn't find ways to do that with Firefox. Chrome is doing very good.
    I searched all add-ons, pdf printer software but they are only saving or printing all the page (website) to PDF.
    Please help me the ways to save a selected content to PDF. Thanks very much.

    Hii hanh01001..
    I think i know one solution to the problem
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/print-selected-text/?src=api
    this is an add on that is used to print the selected text only..
    have a nice day :) :)

  • Saving a report generated pdf file on to report server

    Hi,
    This is a question regarding web access of Oracle Reports.
    I am generating a report through web by typing an url like this: http://chfux102.ems.allied.com:8100/cgi/oreports/run?chflims+destype=file+desname=./section1.pdf+report=COA_PF.rdf+desformat=pdf+v_delivery_num=80063329+v_delivery_item_num=10+v_me rge=32386+v_feeder=32386+v_cm_id=1890
    I am doing this since I want the report to be saved on the report server as a pdf file(section1.pdf). However this is generating an error.
    Is there anything wrong in the parameters I am passing? Please let me know if you have inputs on this.
    Also let me know where can I get some tutorial regarding web access of Oracle Reports..
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You may scan by using the HP ePrint Home and Biz app.
    Below you may find the steps to get the App:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02775166&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3795314&tmp...
    Set the scan as Document and it will be saved as PDF.
    You may also share the scanned files from the app.
    Click the Help (?) icon at the top and you will find the steps to share and access the files from your computer under the Transferring Files Wirelessly section.

  • How can I retain hyperlinks while saving a webpage as PDF via Print?

    How can I retain hyperlinks while saving a webpage as PDF via Print?
    This is the title of an apple forum question, and it is a bug in both Safari 5.1.3 and under, and I find it to also occur in Firefox browser (at least 9.* 10.*, 11.0), running on Lion OS (10.7.2, 10.7.3). See:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3212301?start=0&tstart=0
    Under the newer Mac OS mentioned, and Firefox 10.2, 11.0, 9.*, if I select:
    File -> Print -> PDF -> Open PDF in Preview"
    (and view / save the PDF in Preview, you will see none of the links in the original web page are active
    or using
    File -> Print -> PDF -> Save as PDF...
    same problem. Try this using any Wikipedia page, for example.
    When this problem was posed in Apple forums, by a user of the Safari browser, it was found to be a bug (since Aug 2011) fixed in a Safari browser build 5.1.4 circa Jan 2012. I tried the newer Safari browser and sure enough the problem went away (except that links embedded in the PDF no longer appeared as blue text - ARGH - but "hover over" with the cursor showed the link and clicking the link in Preview viewer activated the link in a browser window).
    So I post this to the Mozilla community, please fix this 'cause I don't want to have to switch over to Safari browser every time I want to archive a PDF with active links!!!!
    P.S. I did a spot-check and with the newer add-on Enjoy Reading 1.0.1 and FF11.0. When the Enjoy reading formatted version appears in the browser window, all URLs/links are preserved and highlighted in blue, but when I print that browser window as PDF, the links are dead (don't work) even though they appear in blue in the PDF.
    So, what's going on, can the Safari fix be researched and applied to FF?
    Also, on some forums, people are responding, Well, try installing Acrobat reader. Well, I don't want to, Preview reader has worked fine for me for years.

    Thanks jscher2000.
    RE: -- '''Generally speaking, PDF converters that work by intercepting a print job do not have access to the URLs behind links in the page.''' --
    I cannot say I agree. I could email you a PDF clipping or two (generated from Safari on Mac OS, in its native capability with no add-ons) that shows you otherwise. When I used PC platforms I did have to install PDF converters (tried both free and expensive ones) that did what I describe.
    I cannot try the add-on you mention, '''Print Pages to Pdf.''' in Firefox. It shows in my browser and Mac OS platform "Not available for your platform." So I am guessing it was written for the PC version of Firefox.
    The Mac OS has had a native PDF-creation functionality for as many years as I have been using it; I used PC prior to that, Win3.1 through XP and NT. And on my PC, I bought (and at work, my employer bought $$$, I had to justify three levels up to management the ability to create PDFs on my work PC) some Adobe functionality to CREATE pdf's (readin's free and easy, makin' em's costly on the PC).
    I've gone and dug through some of my (Mac) doc and clipping archives, and I find that stuff I created after about Dec 2008 or so seems to eliminate all link functionality. When viewed in the Apple native "Preview" application (sort of Apple's equivalent to Adobe Acrobat reader, ships with the OS): link tags are highlighted/tinted, clicking a link opens a (default) browser and takes you there; hover-over the tag text shows the actual link. (Of course, not all old links are still VALID or point to the desired source.)
    I could, in Safari or FF browser window and with no add-ons or Adobe paid products whatsoever, use the native OS method to create PDF's from any application (word processor, spreadsheet, browser, etc) via the menu File -> Print -> Save as PDF menu and create a PDF that had active hyperlinks. In Apple OS Lion 10.7.3, I still can't when it uses this broken WebKit interface, links are "dead" as a doornail until a fix is distributed in WebKit for a future Lion release. It seems this functionality died at least as far back as Leopard OS 10.6.8, but don't quote me on that. Also, my version of Pages 2009 version 4.1(923) (sorta like Word) STILL creates a PDF document that preserves (1) text hyper-links within the document, and (2) web links (in the PDF) that open the browser. I just made a test document.
    When all you can see in the PDF is the tag text, there is nothing to copy-paste to follow any link. Also, hypertext links are often used by authors to create links to other points in a document: now even *that* is broken in the PDF version of the documents I retrieve from the web and print from FireFox (Broken in Safari 5.1.3 and earlier but fixed in 5.1.4).
    Try this on the PC, in your browser and print a news clipping as PDF, do the links in the PDF work? What products do this, and what don't? I would bet the machine with a full Adobe suite this will work flawlessly. (Why should a PC user have to pay hundreds of $ to create this functionality in what I thought was an open standard (PDF)? But that's talkin' religion, let's not start that.)
    Some folks might say,
    go online and find the original source doc in your browser. Or,
    go and add those links manually using the Preview edit add-link capability (hunh? no thanks) , or
    save each item worth saving as an HTML archive instead of a PDF (argh, creating a whole directory in the process, I might add, including ads). Or,
    who needs PDFs, everything is online.
    Or, buy some Adobe product.
    I think they miss my point. This is a real strange dumbing-down of archival PDF documents, or at least a destruction of the ability to use PDF as an archive that retains its links and references.
    C.F. the guy who has archives of scientific papers, and the old material all cross-references nicely but after date X there are no working links.

    Hi,
    I think this is an ADS error. This is a reason why pdf's are not working. We had the same issue.

  • Problem with printing generated pdf.

    Hello!
    I need to print pdf file, that was generated by my application. I am using Apache FOP to generate pdf (xml+xslt). For printing I am using Maxatec MT-150 receipt printer. Seems, that pdf is generated successfully, because I can open it and I also can print it using Windows interface. However, when I am sending it to printer in my JAVA application, printed file is just set of unreadable characters and black lines. I was trying to use different DocFlavors, like DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE, DocFlavor.URL.AUTOSENSE, but neither had a luck. My code looks like this:
    PrintService receiptPrintService = getReceiptPrinterService(printerName);
    DocPrintJob printJob = receiptPrintService.createPrintJob();
    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(new File("StatusReport.pdf"));
    Doc doc = new SimpleDoc(fis, DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE, null);
    printJob.print(doc, null);
    private static PrintService getReceiptPrinterService(String printerName) {
              PrintService[] services = PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(null, null);
              for (PrintService printService : services) {
                   if (printerName.equals(printService.getName())) {
                        return printService;
              return null;
         }For some reason I cannot set DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.PDF, as it throws following exception: sun.print.PrintJobFlavorException: invalid flavor. (despite the fact that I can pdf using the same printer, but through Windows interface)
    So, I really don't see what is the problem. Should I use something in my xslt template to specify content type? currently I have:
    <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" omit-xml-declaration="no" indent="yes"/>Any help would be appreciated.
    Alexander.

    @Dick_Adams
    I am sorry, but what error message are you talking about? The only error I get is "sun.print.PrintJobFlavorException: invalid flavor" and as far as I understand it depends on printer, what is supported and what is not supported. Or am I wrong? I am using standard java.awt.print library.
    @AndrewThompson64, thanks for the tip!)) It does print correctly, but in this case I am not sure I have enough possibilities to control printing. For instance, my pdf was printed as landscape, but I need portrait.

  • Indesign-generated .pdf files won't print

    I realize this question is vague to the point of being unanswerable, but here I go anyway.
    Our department's publication person sent me a number of chapters of our book in progress so that I could print an uncorrected proof to show to our funding source. She emailed me .pdf files generated by InDesign CS2, probably, although it might have been CS3.
    She also emailed me the indesign file for the frontmatter because I had some things to add, so the .pdf for that I generated myself.
    I took everything to a local printer we regularly use. To print this job he was using a large commercial Canon setup I think. None of the .pdfs would print on it. He ended up having to print them all as images for the purposes of creating a proof for me.
    Now, I printed all of them myself on our networked postscript printer, both from a Mac and a Windows machine, no problem.
    Since the files had been emailed to me, and then to him, we thought maybe they got corrupted, so I brought them over on a disk, but that didn't help, not even the one file whose .pdf I generated myself would print.
    So is this an issue that has come up--indesign-generated .pdf files being unprintable on a commercial printer but printable on a postscript machine.

    Dov and Al,
    Yes, I'm sorry, I do realize that this isn't enough to diagnose a problem. I was hoping that this might be something that has come up before and someone would recognize.
    As far as I could tell, he was opening up the print jobs in Acrobat and sending them to his printer, which had its own job monitor. When he consulted that monitor he just said, no, it won't print.
    He's a smart guy and I've done a number of jobs with him that were generated in indesign, so I'm really at a loss to explain what has gone wrong with this one.

  • Printing SFP ADOBE generated pdf from spool.

    I am trying to print ADOBE PDF file to HP Designjet Z5400 plotter.  It successfully writes a pdf file to the spool.  When I either release that spool file to print or have the print job set to print immediately I get a spool error - unable to read format G_RAW l_rc =128.  However I can print the pdf from preview.  It is NOT an issue with the printer printing the pdf file as I can do this.  My issue is that I cannot print directly to the printer via the SAP spooler.  I have entered incident to SAP with specific example of my program that produces the pdf spool file.  I am directed to read notes that imply I have ADS problem which is ridiculous as I have plenty of SFP generated pdf files printing to HP and Canon laser printers.  Again i am trying to print a very large label 2 X2 foot to HP Designjet Z5400 plotter directly via spool.  My task is to direct label to different printers based upon MATNR field.
    I would appreciate response from only people who have printed SPF ADOBE pdf to plotters.
    The pdf that was created file size 5.7 KB.

  • Scanned doc, saved as Acrobat X pdf, then edited, prints only edits not the whole saved pdf

    In PS CS5, I imported a text document from scanner. I made some edits, including some paint brush (white on white) and some text layers. I saved it as a pdf and then opened it in Acrobat X 10.0.10, then printed it. Only the text layer edits themselves printed and not the rest of the original document with the edits.I think the problem lies with Acrobat, so posted here.
    Win7 SP1

    This is bordering on breaking physical laws. In PS the only thing that prints are the changes on created layers. The original document (background) does not print along with my changes, the same output as in Acrobat. Then in PS I saved it as a jpeg. Im looking at the image of the changed document in its entirety in the photo viewer but the same thing happens as in PS and Acrobat - only my changes (new layers) print, nothing else. Thats kinda creepy...

  • How can users of WebHelp print out help chapters or generate PDFs?

    More and more users of our WebHelp would like to print out help chapters or generate PDFs.
    Does anyone know if this is possible with RoboHelp10?
    I know that this function is available in Microsoft HTML Help...
    Thanks in advance.

    Theoretically it is possible with Microsoft HTML help. Try it though and you will see the output is pretty horrible.
    The only solution I have seen is for you to generate that output and then provide a link to the PDFs.

  • Generating pdf output with webhelp look and functionality not like a print documentation

    Hi I have been using robohelp webhelp for our company online help documentation. Can I generate pdf output which has the same look and functionality as that of webhelp, using robohelp??

    Welcome to our community
    While you may certainly generate a PDF that contains the same information, it likely will not look exactly like WebHelp and it certainly will not behave as WebHelp.
    WebHelp is intended for on-line use while the PDF is really intended for printing if one chooses to.
