HP 1300 and OS 9.2.2

I have been trying to connect an HP 1300 printer to a G4 running first OS 10.3.9, and now OS 10.4.9. Everything is fine under OS 10, but the printer cannot be seen under OS 9. I get error messages that I do not have the software to run the printer, the display or the keyboard. But the display and keyboard work fine. The printer cannot be seen under the USB dialog box in OS 9. The USB extensions that are found on other computers ( USB device extension,etc.) are missing on this one. I cannot figure out how to put them in or why they did not load when I upgraded to the new OS. Can anyone help?

I have tried this, but when I try to print from a Classic application, only Laserwriter shows up in the list of printers... no HP 1300. I have found another pertinent fact. The usual USB extensions (USB device extension, etc.) are present in the Extensions folder in the OS9 system folder, but the icons are generic OSX icons, not the USB icons that I see on some of our other computers. I have run permission repair to no avail. Is there some way to correct this problem.

To add to Scott's post. Option 60 would be useful if you needed to put certain types of AP on specific controllers. Otherwise, no real need to use it for the most part.
Though, I do recall an issue a few years ago that some windows machines had issues getting DHCP if option 43 is being returned.
Now, on an IOS switch, you can only configure one option 60 per DHCP scope

Thanks - Even though I'm years out of warranty I got chat help from Apple (I said they should help me since the codes aren't published.) We covered three different questions, and although I didn't get a specific decoding of the error code, I got confirmation of what other comments here imply - it might have helped that I indicated I'd already been here - and useful links to how to do back ups, including to CD(s). (I don't have a lot of data on this computer yet)
Now I need to figure out how to decide how hot-to-the-touch is "too hot" for the metal frame at the top of the iMac to decide whether I'm getting adequate fan performance or insufficient. While chatting I initially reported it was cool at the bottom and warm at the top. Apple hadn't asked, but their response prompted me to feel it again, and I'd say the top was hot, not warm - I updated but Apple didn't comment further except to conclude after addressing the other questions that I should take it in for further assessment - don't really want to bother with that.

Duron 1300 and K7T266Pro: it doesn't work.

Hi there, I bought a Duron 1300 Mhz and try to put it in a K7T266Pro but it didn't boot. MSI web site tells it doesn't support 1300 Mhz, but it supports 1200 Mhz. Why does it not handle 1300 mhz? Is there a way to make this board boot with a 1300 mhz Duron? Any suggestion? If a try to set all parameters in bios in order to fit the 1300 Duron, will it work?
It's not so easy for me to try because it's my office computer...
Bios is the latest available.

Diffs between Aironoet 1300 and 1400

Gurus,
We paid an outside firm to set us up with a wireless shot connecting our two facilites, 2 miles apart. They used Aironet 1400 bridges, that pass both Data and CCME VoIP traffic, and a few Vlans.
Our company may take posession of another building only about 1/2 mile away from the existing main site, where one of the 1400's is located. Wireless has worked well for us so far, and I would plan on setting up a wireless link to the new site as well.
The 1300's and 1400's are substantially different in price, and I was wondering what the difference is between them, at least for my application.

The 1300 series is basically a 1231G with a coax-based power injector built into a weather proof plastic case. It operates only on the 2.4Ghz spectrum (802.11g) which as mentioned is crowded and potentially more subject to interference.
The 1400 series is a 5GHz spectrum radio (802.11a) which means it has 8 non-overlapping channels compared to the 1300s 3 non-overlapping channels. The device itself is a sturdy access point built from die cast metal.
The problem with the 1400 is that it doesn't support WPA2/AES. Or at least didn't the last time I worked with the bridges. The lack of WPA2/AES support means you will use LEAP to secure the link. LEAP is unfortunately vulnerable to a proliferation of offline attacks.

New duron 1300s and K7T Turbo 2

The only 200mhz FSB chips available from AMD seem to be duron 1300s. They are using this huge die, it looks like a palomino die.
When installed into a K7T Turbo 2 board they are detected as "Uknown CPU Type 1500+". Other then that they work just fine, they run at 1300mhz.
Is there going to be a BIOS update that will correctly identify these chips as duron 1300s?

I have a Duron 1300 on the same board....
But it's a 100FSB CPU and shows correctly....
Maybe you need to close J17?
As for a new BIOS, don't count to much on that....

Laserjet 1300 and Ipad 2?

I have a Laserjet 1300 is it possible to connect to Ipad 2 wirelessly (Airport)? Presently I have a Dell that is hard wired to the printer - next month I plan to replace Dell with Mac lite.

They are all different and are recognozed in itunes as such.
Each will ONLY sync what you have selected to sync.

What in the world is going on ... Adobe gladly took my $1300 and now I can't download this 'download manager' which comes across as in Arabic and I can't get through to Adobe?

Why is this such a series of hoops you have to jump through to deal with Adobe ... I am fairly disgruntled at this point ... and I still have no access to the product that I paid for.

HP 1300 wont print from Remote Desktop applications

I have an HP 1300n attached via USB to a windows 7 computer. I log onto a clien'ts windows 2003 server using remote desktop application. I have installed the driver to HP 1300 PCL 5 on the remote server and of course it's installed on the windows 7 machine. I can see the HP via port TSXxx on the remote server but when printing, nothing happens. The document is sent to the "printer" but doesnt print in my office. I've tried many solutions and nothing so far works. I have 3 other windows 7 computers and 3 others HP 1300 and all are experiencing the same thing.

HP Laserjet 1300 Manual Double Sided Printing with Windows 7

I just purchased a new laptop with windows 7, love the interface but have some hiccups here and there. And the one that is the biggest pain is printing. I have a HP Laserjet 1300 connected via a linksys print server. Single sided printing works just fine, but I used to be able to (and still can from my work laptop running XP and from my wifes Laptop running Vista Home) print double sided manually. But now even though it says duplex, it will not work and I think the Windows Driver believes that it is a duplexer attached to the printer verses a manual feature. Any ideas on how to get my manual double sided printing back?

Mac OS 10.4.10 Update and Lost Printers

I did the software update and also tried the combo update. My hp LaserJet 1300 and Epson Photo R220 were lost and when I tried to add them via the Printer SetUp Utility I would get an error. What is funny is the printers were in my user library printer folder. So I've reverted back to 10.4.9 as I had a duplicate boot hard drive. The funny thing is that my Mac Book Pro did not go through the same issue. Any ideas.

Indoor repeater for cisco 1300

Hello,
We have an outdoor wireless network working with two cisco 1300. One acts as a access point and the other one as a bridge.
We would like to extend the coverage of the bridge... Is that possible? There's one spot inside where signal quality is 80% good and where we could put an indoor signal repeater.
What cisco product could we purchase to do that ? (if possible...)

H.264 and Quicktime

hello everyone,
i'm currently under the process of converting all my videos from home movies to dvds, movies, through with h.264. I have recently found out through the Mpeg industry forum head Gary Sullivan that the "main" profile was a profile that was implemented on a semi-temporary basis until they came up with the "high" profile. now as many of you know, the high profile doesn't exist in QTPro or FCP. I also found out that at the same bitrates "high" has better algorithms than "main" and "main" better than "baseline" so perceived visual quality is better at the same bitrate. Obviously it would be advantageous if I could encode all my videos using the "high" profile. So on to my questions:
1. What is the best/most widespread application to convert your videos to the "high" profile for h.264?
2. If I have videos encoded in the high profile, will QT natively support them and play them back or not?
3. Is it worth going with "high" over "main"?
4. What is the difference when encoding in h.264 to using a .mp4 container or a .mov container?

The "best" application for mass conversion of video would be either Apple's Compressor 3 or Telestream's Episode Pro since both have high quality codecs and feature batch encoding. There may be a problem with cost however since Compressor is only available as part of Final Cut Studio ($1300) and Episode Pro is $895. I use both (I'm in post-production) and they're pretty equal. The econo way to go is QT Pro.
None of what you had about Gary Sullivan, et al. made much sense to me although I've been working with H.264 since early 2005. What I can tell you is this:
Unless your library of movies, etc. are of spectacular quality, you needn't be concerned with "high" quality issues. H.264 has been touted as "half the filesize of MPEG or twice the quality" and I see that as true. In my experience that "medium quality" H.264 is quite presentable. It will usually compare favorably with 25Mbps DV-NTSC at a bitrate of less than 2Mbps.
H.264 is technically MPEG-4, layer 10. It is also called AVC (Advanced Video Codec) and AVC/HD. Which wrapper QT chooses to isn't important. In the mid-term future, you will see H.264 infiltrate pretty much all forms of video from 3G to 4K. The one place you won't find it is in conventional video DVD. You can write H.264 to DVD-ROM as data, but if you intend to produce conventional Video DVDs of your library, you'll be encoding as MPEG-2 or MPEG-1 since those are the only allowable formats by DVD standards.
