HP 15-f024wm laptop, Certain keys don't respond well, anyone have this issue???

Hi, I recently bought a HP 15f-024wm laptop and I've had keyboard issues from day 1. The problem is mainly with the "H" key and the comma key. They do not respond well unless I press them hard, which is really aggravating when you're trying to type fast. I always have to be conscious of how hard I'm pressing the keys or else keystrokes are missed. Does anyone else have this problem? I keep thinking that maybe it's something I did, but I've been super careful with this laptop so I can't think of anything I could have done to cause this.  If this is just how the keyboards are, then I can live with it, but it's bothering me not knowing if it's something I did or if this is just how they are.  I really do not want to have to return this laptop. I like everything about it except the keyboard. Anyone else experience this issue?

@vincentd1215 ,
Thank you again for posting back with your information.  When dealing with a key issue like you are having it usualy due to the contact pad on the keyboard being worn or having something not letting it make full contact.
To fix this you would have to normally have the keyboard replaced.
Before that try first updating the drivers for the keyboard.  Here is a link for your notebooks support page.  Here you will find the software and drivers.  As well you will find the Maintenance and Service Guide.  You can use that to see if you can open up the notebook and check to make sure the keyboard is in place and connected correctly.

  • After update, keyboard and trackpad does not work on MBA but wireless mouse works. I don't use a wireless keyboard. Stuck at login because need to enter pw. Anyone have this issue? Please help!

My Macbook Air (13", mid 2011) right after I did the Maverick OS update. My keyboard on Macbook Air is not working and it says "There isn't a keyboard connected" (Bluetooth Keyboard Setup). I do not use a wireless keyboard. Apparently my bluetooth works because my wireless mouse works. I am currently stuck at my login screen not being able to get in because I can't even enter my password. I am, however, able to login as guests and get to the Keyboard viewer to type things with my wireless mouse. I really need my keyboard to work to use for my job. I need help please!

I forgot to mention that my power button did work but everything else, keyboard and trackpad, didn't! Anyway, I shutdown my laptop, slept, and turned it back (in hopes that it might work instead of restarting it like before). Now my keyboard and trackpad works! Thank goodness! I was about to go to the Apple store upset too!

  • Certain keys don't work-delete, space bar, caps lock, quotes-apostrophe key

Certain keys don't work on the built-in keyboard: delete, space bar, caps lock, quotes-apostrophe key...I have to use the "keyboard viewer" to use these particular keys. My adapter is connected to the computer, but the problem persists.
Can anyone please suggest troubleshooting for this annoying problem? It has been like this for about 2 weeks now.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Does anything happen when you hit these keys?
    Try this:
In System Preferences>Keyboard & Mouse, click the "Keyboard Shortcuts" tab, then the "restore defaults" button.

  • My colleague recently synched his phone and now has a full keyboard on the lock screen.  My lock screen keypad is set up like phone keys (alphanumeric).  He's wondering why his is different, and he also now cannot unlock it.  Anyone have this happen?

My colleague recently synched his phone and now has a full keyboard on the lock screen.  My lock screen keypad is set up like phone keys (alphanumeric).  He's wondering why his is different, and he also now cannot unlock it.  Anyone have this happen?  He came to me yesterday and I noticed that his iPhone 4 still had old software (version in the 4's), so I advised him that he needed to synch it up to get the iOS 5.1.1 version.  He synched and now can't get back in.  He was entering his passcode on the lock screen (which wasn't taking) and I noted to him that his screen didn't look like mine.  Anyone know how to fix this issue, or does he have to do a full restore?

He has set up a complex password instead of a simple passcode for his phone. If he doesn't know what it is, he'll have to restore. There is no way around a forgotten passcode.

Oh I've found it meanwhile! The is a 2nd post! So never mind this one! I think lawyerhusain understood he has to let Apple know, if he wants them to know and the technical thing will continue with the 2nd post!

  • TS1503 iTunes keeps telling me I don't have enough space to sync the songs and it clearly says 3 GB free and yet it won't sync. Has anyone had this issue ever? Before a week ago I could fit 900 songs and now I can't fit 300.

Okay guys iTunes keeps telling me I don't have enough space to sync the songs and I know that is BS because it clearly says 3 GB free and yet it won't sync. Has anyone had this issue ever? Before a week ago I could fit 900 songs and now I can't fit 300. I know that my phone could fit 800-900 songs and there aren't many apps. There has to be a glitch. Can someone help? Please send me a response if you truly know the answer.

know that is BS because it clearly says 3 GB
Didn't know an iPhone is capable of "BS"! Impressive.  Do the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide:  Restart, Reset, Restore.

  • Certain keys don't work and Satellite M30-10 beeps

    Hi,
I have big weird problem on my Satellite M30-10seven.
When I press certain letter keys on the keyboard they don't work and laptop beeps.
It started with miuj updown seven eight comma right didn't work.
But now I does and comma and down and 8 do too as well as right.
I also get Boot select option on power up that I never got before and sometimes internet explorer tries to go full screen.
Surely not some key is depressed? Because like I said only affects certain keys.
Since writing this j has stopped again.
    Any ideas?

I had the same thing on my Satellite with the keys not working - luckily fixing it was fairly easy.
Above the keyboard is a plastic cover which can be easily removed, revealing 3 or 4 screws. Removing these lets you take the keyboard out (lift it carefully, as there is a cable connecting it to the important bits). This cable was the cause of my issue, in that it wasn't connected properly (the connection doesn't seem very secure, so I'm sure it came loose when lugging it around). Simply secure the connection - by pressing the 2 bits together - and replace the keyboard and screws.

  • Dell laptop media keys don't work with iTunes 7.x

After installing the most recent version of iTunes (7.3), my media buttons on the front of my Dell Precisions M90 no longer work, unless iTunes is the active program. Same thing happened with my other Dell laptop. Anyone have a fix for this?

This has also happened to me. Any way to fix it?

  • Bookmarks don't display correctly on a 13" MacBook Pro, some subfolders won't expand, Anybody have this issue? Thank you!

    I am using a 13" MacBook Pro, Mid-2012 with OS 10.9.3.
A while back I created some sub-folders in several bookmark headings. Several of them do not expand when hovering over them. The bookmarks are displayed towards the right side of the screen, and the next tier or level should display towards the left. It does not. I have deleted and reinstalled the bookmarks several times. I have removed the subfolders, and the book marks work fine.
All of the bookmarks display and work correctly on my 27" iMac.
Is this a screen real estate issue? Is there a fix for this?
    Thank you!

These two folders have done this ever since I created them. I have deleted all bookmarks in Firefox and then reintroduced them all... Problem still persisted. I took the bookmarks out of the subfolders and deleted the subfolders. Bookmarks worked. I recreated the folders and added the bookmarks in, the problem still persisted.
I have a 27" iMac. The bookmarks open to the right, then the subfolders, right again. But they function because of the extra real estate. On this notebook, they open right, then left... With the exception of these two subfolders. It is a conundrum!
This issue actually drove me back to Safari. I like Firefox, but this is crazy!
    And, thanks for your help!

after update my iphone4 from ios5.0 to untethered ios5.0.1 i have the next problem, my home-screen wallpaper default folder become to black icons and if a set any it aply but in black, a lot of friends had the same issue without a fix.

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

  • Apple BT keyboard - keys don't respond

I have read just about every post related to my problem but can't find an answer. I have a Aluminum wireless keyboard that will not pair. It has a green light and is recognized in Bluetooth Assistant but during the pairing process when it asks me to enter the pairing code (0000), nothing happens when I press the keys. I can enter the code from a wired keyboard but I receive the error message that "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. Click 'continue' to try again." My software is up to date. Other bluetooth devices (a different BT keyboard and a Mighty Mouse) work just fine, so I don't think it is an issue with the computer (MBP, 10.6.2). Also, the keyboard does the same thing when trying to pair with my desktop computer (iMac). So it really appears to be a failure in the keyboard itself.
It appears that these keyboards are not resettable in any way (like putting the batteries in backwards and holding the power button or something like that), so it appears that I am just out of luck. But before I go out and purchase another one I just wanted to see if any of you might have some ideas for me to try. Thanks.

    Hi!
Does your keyboard lose connection when you reboot windows or restart windows? I also have the same problem under windows 7 64-bit. When you go and select the device under bluetooth, don't click on it as it will not pair. Right click on the device when its visable. Then check off use HID drivers. Keyboard will then work, but until you reboot/restart then you will have to repeat the procedure over again.
Its a pain, but until a fix comes out, we are stuck.

  • Magic mouse - certain items don't respond to click!

I've had no problem with my Magic Mouse ever - Model MB829/LLA
Am running Imac with OS 10.5.8.
Today I saw a Magic Mouse Software update listed in Software Updates and innocently
enough I chose to install it.
Upon restart the Mouse will click and select items, but there is no response to the
command invoked by that 'click'  - ON CERTAIN ITEMS.  Also it will click on and
allow drag and scroll down say, a pop up menu, but for example when i click on the
minimize or close button on a window, it may or may not respond -  The wired mouse
operates fine doing the same event.  The new "Mouse" preferences pane also gives
no option - at least that I can see- for choosing which "side" of the front end of the
mouse, if that makes any sense...-per screenshot.  THe wired old Gateway mouse
i'm using right now still works normally btw. Any help or idea of what i'm missing here?
Thus far, not an improvement.  Thanks!
    Mike

Just adding another weird anomaly going on with it.  If I simply click on the finder window it displays this(screenshot below) dialogue box.
Now if i select one of the items it will perform the action of opening a new window but...for example, i can't DRAG anything to/from the
new window it opened...  or click/select certain items in this dialogue box.  There's no response...well it's varying with different commands.
    Very very strange

  • Option Keys Don't Respond at All

Neither "Option" key on my white apple keyboard responds.....I can get functionality by switching keys, but this is not the best solution. Is this just a hardware issue?

  • HT201412 IOS 8 Install PROBLEMS. Wish I had read all of the problems users are having with this application! Would never have ins. Experiencing constant crashes, keys don't respond AND my keys are STICKING. Extremely frustrating!

IiOS 8 post-installation problems. Totally unreliable performance. CONSTANT crashes, keys stick, application times out mid-use, inconsistent about saving photos. Very frustrating to have shoddy performance from this expensive IPad 2 device. Cannot afford a replacement on my retiree income.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • I can not backup my ICloud.  my phone says not enough storage.  but i don't want to pay for more.  my phone i just got rid of did not have this issue

    can anyone help me?

Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud.  If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now).  Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.
