Hp 15-p058na (beats special edition) hard drive replacement

Hi I want to upgrade the factory hard drive with an SSD. I'm looking for the instructions to do this - can somebody point me in the right direction ? thanksB

if you put the original hard disk in can you boot to the BIOS?
Had you considered that a Hybrid disk may just not be compatible with the notebook's BIOS?
Your attempt to upgrade to an hybrid notebook drive is the first I have heard of in an HP notebook.

  • HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010 Use a Standard Keyboard Driver

I love everything about the HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010 desktop Except for the keyboard.  I use various programs that use the F1-F12 fiunction keys.  Trying to type Fn-Alt-F4 is no easy feat.  I really don't need all the other special keys on this keyboard.
How can I replace this system's keyboard drives with a standard Windows keyboard driver.  This system is running Windows 8.1 x64.

    Hello @JohnG0814,
I understand that you are trying to use the standard keyboard on your HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010 All-in-One Desktop PC. NowI have gone through the User Guide for your computer and found nothing on disabling the HP Keyboard that you have by default.
I did however find something that may do the trick. In your BIOS which you can get to by restarting and tapping the F10 key you will see under 'Security' a sub-section named 'Secure Boot Configuration' that has a setting for Secure boot > Key Management > Key Ownership. If you go there you can change it to 'Custom keys', which I believe will resolve your keyboard issue. I am posting an image to help below.
I hope this helps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Do you need a special external hard drive for iMac?

Do you need a special external hard drive for iMac?

Any external hard drive that will connect via Firewire 800, USB, or Thunderbolt will work.
I have a 750GB Western Digital Scorpio drive in an OWC case, sitting on a Backpack, which connects via Firewire.  Western Digital Scorpio drives have 5 year warranties, the OWC (macsales.com) cases usually use the Oxford chipset which works well with macs, and the Backpack is a slick way to mount a backup drive without taking up desk space.
After you hook up whatever external drive you end up with, you'll partition and initialize it for OS X, then begin using it.
My opinion, I would not get a Western Digital pre-packaged external drive/case.  While the hard drives are OK, there have been a number of people that have had issues with the electronics.

Any suggestions besides reverting back to 8.1.? Not sure if I had the screen dimmed all the way or brightened all the way when it was upgrading, or if it even mattered.

  • Adding second monitor to HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010xt All-in-One with HDMI Cable

Trying to add a second monitor to all-in-one using HDMI cable.  All-in-one is HP Beats Special 23-n010xt, second monitor is Samsung SyncMaster S24B300, Op Sys is Windows 8.1.  Both are connected with HDMI cable, but Windows is not detecting second monitor.  Have also tried a new cable, no success.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Here are the specs for your HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010xt All-in-One CTO Desktop Computer. Based on the specs, this model doesn't have a video output of any kind. The HDMI port on the side is strictly an INPUT.
The HDMI input allows you to use your computer screen with a game console or video player. To connect your computer to an external display, you will need to purchase a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 or many other adapters on the market.

  • 'Enterprise' edition hard drives

This may not be the correct forum to put this question forward but, I've noticed that there seems to be some knowledgeable people frequenting this part so here goes...
Does anybody know why there is a good reason for using so-called 'Enterprise' edition hard drives in a raid, as distinct from the bog-standard edition? Does anybody know if there as been any 'tests' done for or against this?
    Thanks in advance

Depending on the manufacturer, enterprise class drives:
    1. typically have a longer warranty, sometimes 2 to 5 times longer than standard hard drives.
    2. are usually designed for use in servers that run 24/7.
    3. often have a higher buffer rate.
    4. have a longer 'mean time between failure' rating.
    5. only cost slightly more than standard hard drives.
That said, anything man-made is subject to failure.

  • Problems with S400 Hard Drive replacement

    Hello Lenovo!
I'm new here so please bare with me.
A little about me: I have been in IT support for over 25 years, both hardware and software side.
I recently purchased a Lenovo ideapad S400 Touch and I am enjoying it. The one issue I have with this computer is that the hard drive is not a solid state. I happen to have a spare solid state drive earmarked for this laptop so off I went to upgrade it.
The plan was to simply replace the hard drive with the solid state and reimage the drive with a factory restore USB key.
These are the issues I am encountering:
    1. Lenovo support recommends a windows recovery USB key which does not contain an image of the OS, it is only useful for recovering windows or installing a wim.
    2. One Key does not create a bootable backup, nor a wim file, it relies on a hidden special onekey hidden partition created by special software that lenovo does not offer (to my knowledge) and I have not find a workaround.
It's just a hard drive replacement, any assistance would be much appriciated.
    Thanks.
    Solved!

    Hi frosted,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I believe these guide from neokenchi's post will help.
    These are migration options,
    Option 1:
    1. Insert the original HDD and create a recovery drive (you will need a 16GB flashdrive or higher)
    2. Remove the HDD and insert the SSD drive and boot from the recovery drive by pressing F12 to reset the preloaded OS (with softwares and drivers).
    Option 2:
    1. Use Aomei Partition Assistant Home Edition or EaseUS Disk Copy Home Edition to clone the HDD to the SSD. (Freeware)
    2. Use a migration tool like Paragon Migrate OS to SSD (requires a license)
    Best regards

  • 1TB seagate hard drive replacement - SSD instead?

My 2009 27" iMac qualifies for the hard drive replacement programme, as I received the email from Apple and checked using their serial number submission page that mine does indeed qualify.
I was already considering upgrading to an SSD, so now I have questions...
Can I pay extra to have them fit an Apple certified SSD instead of the 1TB replacement drive?
Can I pay extra and have them replace the 1TB but also fit an Apple certified SSD as the boot drive, giving me a second internal hard drive which is the replaced 1TB hard drive?  I was going to open up my iMac to see if the bracket and connections are there for a second hard drive, I have heard that they may not be present and that you also have to get a special hard drive (with an Apple factory-fitted temperature sensor) for some models, not sure if mine would be one of those models.  If I ask Apple, they might do the fitting for free at least.
I have Lion currently installed, I have Mountain Lion too (which I got with my MacBook Pro).  They are on USB flash drives.  If I decide to send my iMac for the replacement, should I install the original OS that the iMac came with or Mountain Lion?
What liability do Apple or an authorised service centre have as far as damage to my iMac goes?  We all know that these models had a problem with the screen backing causing a shadow, mine is not so bad but it is obviously there if I fill the screen with grey.  If they make this worse, can I take it back and demand that they fix it?  Will they be able to fix this at the same time that they replace the hard drive?  It is something I was going to look at doing myself - try to secure the screen backing, after the standard two year warranty had expired (EU), which I think it now has.  What if they scratch the casing or something else like that?  I keep all of my Apple products in pristine condition, I will notice any scratches and be deeply annoyed by them.
With all of this in mind, I'm half-tempted to just ignore the recall and do the SSD upgrade myself, try to fix the screen backing at the same time, what do you people think?  The nearest Apple Store to me is over 100 miles away, I would have to go to a local authorised reseller / service shop.  I should probably give them a call and ask a few of my questions to them, but wanted to get an idea of what you guys knew or thought too.

I'm pretty sure that Apple will not authorize any work other than replacing the 1 TB Seagate drive. You will not be able to pay extra for any additional work. Your choses are to have the drive replaced under the terms of the replacement program or pay out of pocket for the work you want to have done.  I had my Seagate 1TB drive replaced on site by calling AppleCare.

  • Spotlight not indexing after hard drive replaced

    Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows how to encourage Spotlight to re-index? Just had my hard drive replaced as part of the recall, and now Spotlight wont index anything.
I've tried previous suggestions (adding and removing hard drive to privacy list, commands through terminal etc), but it's still not working.  All the software is up to date (10.7.5).
Any ideas?  It's incredibly annoying, and making working on this computer virtually impossible at the moment.
    Cheers

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "mdworker" (without the quotes) in the Filter text field. Post the most recent 50 or so messages that appear in the Console window — the text, please, not a screenshot.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — edit that out, too, but don’t remove the context.
    Step 2
Do the same with the search string "mds".

  • Time machine won't back up since I have restored from time machine following hard drive replacement.  I am being told there is not enough space, however the back up is less than the hard drive size

We recently had the hard drive replaced on our Mac as part of Apple's replacement programme.  Prior to sending it off for repair we did a final Time Machine back up, which was completed successfully.  SInce getting the computer back we restored everything from the backup disk using Time Machine, which all worked fine, however now we are having problems with it completing regular backups.  We receive a message each time telling up that the backup disk doesn't have enough space on it.  It is telling us that it needs in the region of 370gb and only has around 30gb available.  The computer hard drive is in the region of 350gb and the hard drive is a 400gb one.  It is almost as if it is not recognising that the data already on the disk is the back up of this computer and is trying to complete a completely separate back up as opposed to just updating the backup already on the disk.
Has anyone else got any experience of this and therefore could give me some hints on what to do.  I am reluctant to wipe the backup drive and start again, however I would prefer not to have to buy another hard drive if I can avoid it as this one is technically big enough
I look forward to getting some responses

Hi, I never use TM myself.
Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?
    http://Pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html

Can't imaging something not being covered there.
PS. It's generally recommended a TM drive be at least twice the size of your main drive.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can't doing anything abouty this, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted.

You will need to use third-party software to transfer music from your phone to the iTunes Library. I recommend Phone to Mac - Pod to Mac | Macroplant.com.
