HDMI port not working !!! HDMI no signal!!!

Hi there @ellocopirates,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you are having trouble with the HDMI port on your notebook. I am happy to help with this. Please post the full product number for your notebook. See the following, if you need help with that information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Have you tried a different HDMI cable?  Or tried connecting to a different external device?
Does the same cable and external device work when connected to another notebook using HDMI?
Were there any recent changes to your system? Software, hardware, drivers?
For now, try working through this page.

  • Macbook Pro 2011 DVI HDMI out does not work with TV when the power cable is connected

My Macbook Pro (Early 2011) DVI HDMI out does not work with TV when the power cable is connected. If get the blue screen and then can use the macbook but nothing is displayed on the TV. If i go into display I can see that there are two screens but nothing displayed on the TV. If i take the power cable out at this point the TV shows the second desktop as expected. If i then reconnect the cable, the screen flickers, as though it is being affected by the power cable, and the screen goes blank on the TV. Only if i remove the DVI cable do i get the blue screen again. If i remove the power cable and reconnect it will do it every single time, so i cannot see it being a TV issue or a minor glitch.
I have had this working previously but at the minute it seems to not be playing ball....any thoughts
    Thanks
    Dan

  • HDMI cables do not work on my AppleTV

i tried connecting my apple tv to my Marantz projector via HDMI cable, and its not finding it. it just says "signal not found." my component cables work just fine on it, but no-go on HDMI. and i know the HDMI cable works fine because i've used it on my PS3 and Xbox 360. i've read a few threads that talk about 1.3 or 2.0 HDMI cables, or using an HDMI switch, but before i spend money on either (which could possibly be expensive) i would rather know how to fix it. can anyone help me?

like i said, everything seems fine because my blu-ray and HD DVD players both work fine, and they use regular HDMI cables

  • Apple TV 3.Gen with HDMI De-Embedder not working.

    Hi
I'm having an issue with not getting a picture with the 3.gen Apple TV using a De-Embedder.
    Here is the lineup: Apple TV 3.gen --> HDMI Cable --> Cypress Clux-11CD --> HDMI-DVI cable --> Nec NP-510W
With this lineup we get sound from the De-Embedder through the two RCA/Phono outputs put no picture to the projector. The Projector says "out of range" regardless of any resolution chosen in the Apple TV 3.gen settings. When removing the De-Embedder we get the picture back. So we thought that the De-Embedder was the problem. But when using the same lineup with a 2.gen Apple TV we get both picture and sound. So we quickly concluded that there must be something with the 3.gen Apple TV. The strange thing is that the Boot up picture displays on the projector, but when it changes from boot to the GUI the picture fails to show. Only sound is heard.
    Working Lineup: Apple TV 2.gen --> HDMI-HDMI Cable --> Cypress Clux-11CD --> HDMI-DVI cable --> Nec NP-510W Projector
    Nonworking Lineup: Apple TV 3.gen --> HDMI-HDMI Cable --> Cypress Clux-11CD --> HDMI-DVI cable --> Nec NP-510W Projector
Is there anyone that knows what this could be? Why isn't it working with the 3.gen Apple TV. Any clues??                                                                                                        .

I would try the following (in order):
Check video output settings to make sure the format of the digital signal is compatible with your projector. Also try the 'Auto' settings on AppleTV>Video/Audio after it's booted up (you will need to connect the AppleTV so you can see an image to adjust the settings. Otherwise connect your Mac computer to it via the USB connector.
Check your setting if any on the intermediate device for the same video and/or passthrough settings. The Apple TV older styles were limited to 720p video and so the de-embedder may not work with higher rate 1080i or 1080p devices (an upgrade may be needed to it).
Make sure that all HDMI cables are capable of 1080p by substituting one at a time.
Update all devices (Cypress, NEC, Apple TV) to latest versions.

  • [solved] Laptop HDMI to *TV* not working

    Update:
I was about to post regarding have problems connecting my new Dell Laptop to my TV but I've managed to solve the issue by using a different HDMI cable!
Why the original HDMI cable works with my old laptop but not the new one and why Dell support didn't suggest this as a fix I have no idea, nevermind!
I'll leave my original post below in case anyone has the same problems and finds this helpful!
    The situation:
I just bought a new Dell Laptop (Inspiron 15" 7548 / Windows 8) to replace my ~5 year old Dell Inspiron (Windows 7).
    The problem:
Trying to connect the new laptop to the TV (Panasonic) via HDMI doesn't work. The old laptop, on the other hand, detects the TV as soon as I plug in the HDMI cable and automatically mirrors the display.
    Troubleshooting:
Initially, the new laptop doesn't even recognise the TV has been plugged in. I can get it to correctly recognise (in Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution) that a Panasonic TV is connected by disabling & re-enabling the Intel HD 5500 graphics driver in `device manager`.
Unfortunately this doesn't help, the TV screen still remains black.
I have tried updating all the drivers (AMD/Intel) via the preinstalled Dell Update Manager software, the Dell website, Windows Update & Device Manager updates.
They all tell me everything is up to date.
I tried changing the mode from mirror to extend.
I tried changing the resolution (everything in the list from 1920x1080 - 1280x720 all at 50Hz).
Connecting the new laptop to a monitor via HDMI does work!
I emailed Dell Support for help but their response was "Update the drivers? That didn't work? Then it must be incompatible", which wasn't exactly helpful!

I have a second generation HDMI adapter. I have been using that for many months quite happily on my iPad 3 - watching all the content I purchased on iTunes and also YouTube and BBC iPlayer.
I upgraded to iOS6, and the HDMI adapter doesn't work any more - it says on screen that the output is being shown on the TV but there is no output.
I get the same problem with my VGA adapter as well.
These are the types of issue that I got fed up with grappling with on Windows that led me to Apple in the first place.
This is basic testing that hasn't been done.

  • Qosmio X500 and HDMI output does not work automatically

    Sorry for my english..
    Good morning.
I have a Qosmio x500 recently that runs on Windows 8.1
Previously, when I plugged in a hdmi cable from the PC to the TV, I had ( Samsung TV ), after a beep on the PC , automatically binding and made ??the TV is lit ( if it was in standby).
I could even control the PC with the TV remote control, put a movie , pause, etc.. Super convenient!
Source indicated on the TV Anynet + Toshiba pc.
And when I commutais with the TV remote control on TV, the PC screen is lit .
Off, despite repeated attempts with at least 5 software (drivers ?) Different Toshiba certified HDMI, I do not have it and I have to manually switch to see the PC on the TV (choose HDMI source on the TV) .
HDMICtrlMan is a folder where after installation, there are:
    ChangeOutput.exe
    HCMSoundChanger.exe
    HDMICtrlCfg.exe
    HDMICtrlMan.exe
    But nothing works !
I also updated the video and audio driver: gforce gts 360m
    But now I hold!
And I do not know the logical progression of the computer when you plug an HDMI cable (totally depends on the graphics chip ?).
If someone has an idea or experience of this problem, thank you in advance

    >The problem is that with the drivers windows 7 64 bit, HDMI worked.
The problem is that you changed to a Windows system which is NOT supported on this notebook.
Of course you can use Windows 8.1 on this Qosmio X500 model but this does not mean that all notebook features would work properly.
Windows 8.1 is completely different and many Windows 7 tools and utilities are not compatible with Win 8.1
I dont know if this will help you but the Windows 8.1 Toshiba System Driver is very important software when in comes to use Windows 8.1 on Toshiba notebooks.
Try to install this Windows 8.1 Toshiba System Driver released for Qosmio X870/875 series.
But if this will not work, I dont see any other possible solutions.
Either you will give up the Windows 8.1 and will switch back to supported Win 7 or you would use Win 8.1 but without the automatic HDMI support.

  • HT1218 2.4 GHz wireless signal not working has disappeared

I have a Time Capsule running the firmware version 7.6.1 (the latest) and today for some reason the 2.4 GHz wireless signal stops works and disappears (the signal no longer appears in the list of available netowrks on my iMac or iOS devices).  The 5GHz signal remains and does just fine.  When I cycle the power on the TC with about 30 sec downtime  before powering back on the 2.4 GHz signal comes up just fine; however, after about a half hour to an hour the wireless signal disappears again .  I have seen posts on the net that suggest renaming the wireless channels and changing the channel.  Will try these but this seems to me to be a bit of a bandaid - while this may help I'd like to know why this is happening so I can perhaps take other actions to prevent it in the future.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • My Apple Mini Display Port/HDMI adapter is not working after upgrading to Maverick?

I am using my 13" Macbook Pro Purchased July 2013 on my 42" Samsung TV.  I route through a HDMI adapter (purchased from Apple) to do my presentations. As a note my setup has been working great for the last year. Immediately following the upgrade to Maverick my Samsung displays "No Signal" and changes state "Check Signal Cable" when the cable is disconnected.  Obviously there is some type of signal but it is not recognized.  I tried working with Apple support and they said that the adapter I was using must not be an Apple product.  I investigated fully thinking I may have possibly bought the wrong item, after much research I have exactly the same thing sold on the Apple store online and I even went to 3 Apple stores locally to see if there was possibly another adapter that I should have purchased, but it was exactly the same thing I purchased originally.  Help me fix the problem or please provide details on how to go back in operating systems to prior to Maverick (and not lose any of my data), this upgrade was a huge mistake way to many problems and not the quality that I am used to from Apple.

Had a similar problem, but the answer is not a good one.
You are going to have to wait until Apple fix this as some 3rd party monitors are not supported by this update.
    So you can:
    Go back to 10.6.7
    Wait for Lion
    or
Use Onxy to clear up your computer and it may link to it again.
I deleted some preference files, which when they rebuilt themselves after a restart did the trick.
It worked for me, let me know how you get on?

  • Ipad Mini :Lightning /HDMI Video Out Not working

I just tried a new Apple Ipad/IPhone AV HDMI/ Lightning adapter to try and play videos to my TV/Monitors thru their HDMI Port.
The Ipad Mini recognized it was plugged in and notified me it was playing thru my TV.
But I got no audio/video thru the TV and no indication it was getting a signal thru the adapter.
    What am I doing wrong?
The HDMI input in my Flatscreen HD TV shows my Mac Mini screen perfectly and any videos I have thru it.
Bad adapter, bad HDMI cable, operator error?
What is the system NOT playing content?
The $49.00 adapter should work flawlessly at this price point, imho.

Took a trip to the Genius Bar and about 2 minutes to correct: The Dynex HDMI Cable from Best Buy didn't work. The Apple one works fine.
Now I find my Movie Download from Comcast On Demand won't play thru the adapter. The Movie plays fine on the Mini, but I get a screen warning it's being blocked by Apples' Relationship with Starz. Funny, Comcast says it works fine. Another example of Apple forcing me to use the I-Tunes store on their products if I want to see it on their Hardware? If I pay for the rights thru Comcast, and they don't limit my Hardware, is it right for a Computer Maker too?  After the E-Books price fixing probe...are these kinds of issues next?

  • HDMI into Amp not Working and & Picture Quality Is...

    Hello all,
I'm a first time user of the BT Vision+ service and got it all hooked up today. My kit is a Samsung UE55D8000 with Onkyo HTX22HDX amplifier.
Over the years I've had multiple Virgin V+ boxes, Xbox's, Playstation's and PC's plugged into my amp without any problems but the Vision+ box refuses to work. When I plug in the power on the Vision+ I see an initial light blue screen with a boot count number on the bottom left and then it goes blank and I get a no signal message on screen. When I plug the HDMI cable directly into the TV I get a working picture.
I've tried resetting all devices, setting picture between 1080 and 720 but all without any luck.
Has anyone else seen this before?
On a side note, so far I'm not that impressed with the picture quality. Even the freeview HD channels come out noticably worse from the Vision+ box then when I just use my builtin freeview HD. Having moved from Virgin HD, I can see the BT Sports HD channels suffer the same fate with noticale artifacting.

    1. Yes - The Vision 2.0 HDMI output does carry 5.1 surround sound when available and should work with any A/V amp. 5.1 is available on some Extra TV channels and we hope to enable more channels for 5.1 soon. The on-screen TV Guide indicates which programmes carry 5.1 surround sound.
    2. Freeview HD channels are delivered via Multicast across the broadband network as the box has a DVB-T tuner and not DVB-T2 which is required to receive HD broadcasts in the UK. (Although customers in Norther Ireland can actually receive some HD broadcasts from Eire via DVB-T).
The HD picture quality on the multicast Extra TV channels is generally regarded as excellent and as good as, if not better than, other HD services in the UK as BT use very good video encoders and a high bit-rate.

  • HDMI audio does not work. crashes. hugely frustrated - H530

Hello Everyone.  I have come to my wits end and I hope this is my final stop.  I have had this issue for the past five months and cannot resolve the problem myself, and it actually got worse recently.  I will only give you my main issues, but there are plenty of minor as well.  I believe it all stems from the HDMI output to by Sony A/V receiver.  I have some significant driver or codec or something conflicts. I use my computer as HTPC.  It is a PVR (using NextPVR; recently migrated from WMC due to download guide issues).  I also stream from internet (Netflix, YouTube, NFL GamePass, etc.).  I have a Colossus HD capture card from my Sat box.  I use component and S/PDIF.  From there, I send it via HDMI to my SONY STR-DH800.  The A/V pushes out on HDMI signal to my TV.  Other inputs to my A/V are PlayStation, DVD, and Xbox.  All components have Dolby 5.1 sound - except my computer.  I can only get 2 Channel.  Since the day I upgraded to Win 7 in March. The MAIN issue (other than never getting any surround sound from the HTPC) is when I exit NextPVR and use any other device (e.g., stream on Internet or even watch a Windows Media Center old TV program on Media Player) the playback is fine.  But, when I return to NextPVR, the audio is gone and the video capture is unwatchable.  This happens 100% of the time.  My fix?  Usually I uninstall all the drivers and codecs; 5-6 times in different orders until I get it back to functioning just for NextPVR.  I have an very unstable system, as you can see.  It does not function as a HTPC, just a PVR - such a waste of money and my time troubleshooting. I have posted and communicated on Windows, Hauppauge, Intel, and NextPVR forums.  I talk to their support, but no one has solved my problem with this Lenovo.  I even installed a different sound card (all that did was totally crash my system and it was unusable).  That lands me here as my final hope.  Please Help and thanks in advance!!! Lenovo H530Windows 7 Home  SP1 64-bit

I'm sorry your problems haven't been resolved.  Please keep in mind that this forum is a peer to peer venue in which Lenovo owners help each other.  Although Lenovo Support personnel visit the various forums here, they may or may not respond to every posting.  Since you have yet to receive a response here I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support directly at....

  • HDMI adapter does not work on IPad 2.  Not unique to this cable or to my ipad

I bought the apple branded HDMI adapter for my new IPad 2.  When I plug it in it will give me a black screen and will, at most, very very sporadically flash the ipad screen for about one second then go back to black.  Before assisting please read below to see what I have tried already:
I tried the cable on 2 different IPad2s and an original IPad.
I tried a different cable of the same design on 2 different IPad2s
I tried using both cables on two different tvs and using two different hdmi cables
    I also tried powering off
I also tried running for-sure-supposed-to-work apps (although the IPad2 should mirror so that was unnecessary too).
I took to the Apple Store and they had no clue what was going on either.  Anyone know if this adapter is just a defective product in general?  What other things can I do to put my IPad on the tv...it was a large part of why I bought it.

Don't know if this will help, but this is the procedure I use to get mine to work:
Insert HDMI cable into TV port.
With TV on, select input to HDMI port on the TV that the cable is connected to.
With the iPad in sleep mode attach adapter with HDMI cable and power adapter connected to iPad.
Turn iPad on (take out of sleep mode).
This works for me every time.
Also heard that a while ago Apple produced a batch of bad HDMI adapters.  This could have happened again or not all the bad ones got sent back.
