HP 1610  large bottom margin

I am switching from Windows XP to MAC OS X 10.6.2 . I am using a HP 1610 printer. I used this printer on Windows for years. I have the following issue with MAC when printing to this printer. The bottom margin of the A4 pagesize (portrait orientation) is 14,3 mm with MAC and I can never print in the bottom 14,3mm of the page. However with Windows I do not have this restriction. with Windows the bottom margin is smaller (around 4mm from the bottom ). The HP documentation (wich I got with the printer) says that the bottom is 6,7 mm. So there is an wrong definition of the pagesize for HP1600 somewhere in the MAC software ( MAC OS X ou HP Driver..)
How can I fix this issue ??

Please note that the computers Apple makes are "Macs" (not all uppercase). MAC (all uppercase) refers to a network term meaning Media Access Control. As for your problem, go to hp.com and verify that your printer is supported under Snow Leopard and if it is, download and install the latest driver. If that doesn't help, try contacting HP's tech support via their web site for assistance.

  • How to set bottom margin on pages

    how do I set bottom margins on pages document.  The printer always cuts it off

    That may just be part of your printer's non-printable area.
    Most printers do not print right to the edge with a large margin at the bottom of the sheet.
    To find out exactly where your printer prints, make a grey box to fill your entire page then print that, The white margins are non-printing.

  • Can't figure out how to change the bottom margins

    This is my 3rd day with a mac and I can't figure out how to change the margins in Pages '09 so that it doesn't include a .5 margin on the bottom.
    I'm using a HP OfficeJet J6450. In the page setup, I changed the "untitled" user defined margins to .1 for top and sides and 0 for the bottom and it still includes a .5 margin on the bottom. Changing the untitled seems to help side margins.
    I've used the inspector to see if there is a setting there that defines the bottom margin as .5 and that doesn't seem to do it.
    If I print borderless, the text boxes that I have a .3 border around don't print on the edges even though they show up on my workspace. It also throws off the top and bottom.
    This is a big assumption, but I assumed that if the workspace and rules show white space and now grayed out, it would print that way. It's not.
    Any ideas? Thanks! Ana
    P.S. I've downloaded & installed updates for everything - OS, iWorks, Printer

    Peggy,
    Maybe this is true of Macs? On my windows systems - I can specify more options on both my printers and can print beyond .5 inches at the bottom. One specific option on my J6450 that I can select is "minimize borders" and it will print about .1 or .2 from the edge. On my mac, I do not have that feature to select. If I print borderless, even though my layout shows it should not go off the paper, once printed it does.
    Thanks.

  • Printing in Acrobat X gives an extra unwanted line in the bottom margin

    Printing in Acrobat Reader X gives an extra unwanted line in the bottom margin. This margin should normally be blank. The line pattern follows the pattern of the print inside the margins. How can I print without this extra line?. The problem does not occur with the same documents opened in Acrobat Reader 9.4.

    I had the same problem when I created my pdf for my Realtor flyer using microsoft publisher. I was able to get rid of the unwated line by using a png file in the publisher before generating the pdf.

  • Display Table at bottom margin of each section

    Post Author: aristos
    CA Forum: Desktop Intelligence Reporting
    Hello, I have a report that includes the transactions of accounts. The report is sectioned on AccountNo and in the section there is a table that contains the transactions and two other tables that display some summary information for each account. I want to display the two summary tables at the bottom margin of the last page of each section(account). How can I do this? I have tried to set vertical position of tables to "Bottom Margin" but when the account details take more that one page the tables are displayed at the botom margin of the first page. Also for each account I want to display the pages e.g. Page 1 of 3. I have used "FormatNumber (PageInSection(1) , "#") & " of " & FormatNumber (NumberOfPages() , "#")" but NumberOfPages() gives me the total pages of report instead of total pages in section. How can I get total pages of section?

  • A4 top and bottom margins too big - Pages 08

    I am using the pages 08 in A4 document and the margin setup for the top margin is 0,35cm and bottom margins are 0,85 cm but in the print-out they are 3,5 cm and 4,5 cm. Header and footer are off

    Similar problem landscape: two A5 columns on A4. All margins are not the very minimum I arranged for. Left is 6 cm, the other 2 or more cm. This doc printed properly in Pages '06.

  • Is it Possible to set Top and Bottom Margin for each section?

    I've been googling and haven't found an answer to this problem.
    I need to specify a different top and bottom margin for each section in my document. The "document margins" apply to the whole document, so I've set those to a low amount, and I can set the Layout Left and right margins - but the "Layout Margins" do not allow "top and bottom" only "before and after". This is a critical difference, because if you have 2 pages in a section, only the first page gets the "before" margin, and only the 2nd page gets the "after" margin. This is a little odd, and I'm frankly surprised we are in version 4 of this app - and you can't set top and bottom margins for each section.
    If you insert a "layout break" on each page, then you can get the margins to reset for each page inside a section, but this is not an acceptable workaround as I need to setup templates for staff to use that will "flow" like a normal word processor.
    Does any one have any suggestions?

  • Bottom margin gets cut off when I try to print

    bottom margin gets cut off when I try to print

    Not being able to check it out on Pages 5 I have tosay how it works in Pages 4 (09). When Show Layout is checked/on you should see a grey border which is the area that the printer can't print on. Do you see a grey boder in your Pages 5?
    If you need a smaller margin on your document than the printer seems being able to do check if you don't hae a "borderless" option for the paper sizr you use. You check it in File > Page Setup
    Also go to HP and check if there is a newer printer driver if yours has some years on it.
    I hope this will help you

  • Adding Bottom Margin Pixels for IE Conditional Comment - JQuery Slide Show

    My JQuery slide shows looks great on all browsers except IE...the div below the slide show with written text is covered by the slide images when I go live with it in IE only.  I realize the soluion is to add a conditional comment for IE by comanding 300px to the bottom margin of the div#.  I've created a separate .css file (ie.css) and created a duplicate #div rule.  In my source code, I've added:
    <!--[if IE ]>  <link href="css/ie.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">  <![endif]-->  (yes, the new css file is located within a "css" folder on the root.)
    Now, so that only IE takes the command off of my new "ie.css" file and not the other browsers, what should I have for the margin rule?  I've tried the follwing and a billion other variations with no luck.
    <!--[if IE]>
    #LayoutDiv18 {
         margin-bottom: 300px;
    <![endif]-->
    Where am I going wrong here?

    Hey DSG, here is a trail of bread crumbs out of the maze- I decided to do the tutorial again, and found that they have a new one, Katie instead of Kevin- and the way they explain the creation of the background pages makes it, if not clear, at least less confusing. Not a magic bullet, but you can try creating a new site using the new guidelines.  hope this helps.

  • HELP - Top/Bottom Margin

    I have been struggling for the past several hours trying to understand why my top and bottom margins for my "outer" and "wrapper" divs aren't meeting the absolute top and bottom in liveview. I'm still showing a small margin traveling around the entirety of the div, indicated by the gray portion:

    You need to set a <body> style to counter the automatic padding.
    body {
    margin:0;
    padding:0;
    That should help you out - unless it's already there of course but I couldn't see it in your screenshots.

  • Need help with bottom margin...

    I'm currently updating a site and don't know why this is doing what it is doing. I check the site in IE9, Opera, Firefox, Safari, and Chrome, and all looks good. It also looks good in IE 7. But in IE 8, there's no bottom margin at all. Any ideas on what is going on? Here's where the temporary site is...
    http://www.wenatcheekennelclub.com/test/
    Thanks for any info.... It's just IE 8 that does this. Does the same in Browser Lab as well when IE 8 is selected for the browser.

    the Last advice I could offer is to remove margins and apply padding instead.
    Please note the following example which i created on jsfiddle.  http://jsfiddle.net/fezec/Zuf4f/
    you will see that if you use margin, there is white space at the top and the bottom margins are unaccounted for.
    yet if you remove margins and uncomment padding, you will see the desired effect you are seeking.
    HTML auto collapses margins in some cases, and not all browsers handle this similarly. and IE 7 or 8 especially.
    in your case margin-collapse would occur because your container houses ONLY block level descendants.if you had an inline at both the top and bottom you most likely would see the margin being applied.  Pretty stupid for sure, but unfortunately one of the stupid browser quirks. Actually its not really a quirk but rather done this way for our convenience. this way when we specify margins, we dont have to keep it straight in our heads the calculations of vertically adjacent margins.

  • Bottom margin refuses to change!

    I have noticed that there seems to be a minimum margin size for the bottom margin. If all margins are set to 0, all the text will go right to the edges of the page except the bottom, which always maintains a buffer of about a quarter inch no matter what I do with font size, line width, character spacing, etc.
    Even more baffling, this buffer is different on two different documents which otherwise have all the same settings as far as I know. I'm viewing both of them in full screen mode with Layout turned on, and stranger still, one of them shows the margins as white "paper" and the other as a grayed out area with the "paper" not starting until the text does. Everything in Page Setup and Inspector is exactly the same! Any idea what's going on?
    -Isaac

    Since you have the problem with any word processor on a Mac or PC, I still think it's printer-related. Pages uses your default printer to show the printable area.
    The other possibility is that you are running into the footer. By default headers & footers are turned on in a word processing document & the settings are 0.5" for the header & 0.6" for the footer. Go to the document inspector & reduce the settings to zero & uncheck the box.
