HP 2000 Notebook PC- DVD-RAM UJ8D1 driver missing

My CD/DVD drive is not working.  When I go into the device manager it says  my computer needs trouble shooting due to a driver error.  When I click trouble shoot it attemps to find and reinstall the driver but it doesn't do anything.  I have no issue how long this has been going on since I rarely have use for my cd/dvd drive.  Last time I used it was around Christmas.  The only changes that have been made to my computer since then was upgrading my operating system from 8 to 8.1.
This question was solved.

  • DVD-RAM UJ892 driver no longer working

sorry - the DVD brand in my previous post was censored....
The DVD of my T410 has stopped working, and Device Manager now shows the yellow triangle next to its icon("Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)).
I have tried uninstalling it and scanning for hardware changes, which tried to reinstall the driver, but reinstallation failed. Also tried ejecting and reinserting the drive, again with no results. Any idea? The DVD drive was  working fine until recently.

I'm having the same problem ...
I've spent the last two nights searching for a driver ... can't find one anywhere.
What's worse, is the ThinkVantage Toolbox is telling me the DVD was removed on April 23, then added again on April 28. Then removed again on the 29th. Gee, that's great information  ... but completely useless in getting the drive to work again.
Is there a driver for this on this web site?
    It's a Mat**bleep**a DVD-RAM UJ892

  • Mat**bleep**a DVD Ram UJ8D1

I'm at the verge of cracking, because I can't find help at any of our local Computer shops.
What must I do to fix this? I've tried every website, every hint, everything.
In the troubleshooter panel it tells me that there is an error with the drive, but it doesn't help me to fix it.
Every time there's an error message.
    PLEASE HELP ME!!

Open the tray and try to push with your finger the lens component (without touching the lens obviously) )towards center end and restart.

I checked on forums, opened device mangager and also tried to uninstall, restart and update or install driver for HP UJ8DB, but it doesn't fix it says windows has determined the driver software is up to date. Please help me fast i want to install antivirus software. I have windows 8.1 PC

It is not a driver issue:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
The above Microsoft article will take you through the possible issues. Does the drive show up in device manager? The BIOS?
Can you boot from it? It is likely either a corruption of the registry which the linked article shows how to fix, or the drive itself is bad and needs to be replaced. Post back to answer the questions so we can help.

  • Optical drive supports DVD-RAM?

I have DVD-RAM tool on my laptop, model 129(with combo drive), but I don,t know whether my optical drive supports it or not. How I can know?
Also need some easy information about DVD-RAM.

Chances are if you have the software on your computer it has DVD-Ram. Here is basically what I found at a website trying to explain DVD ram and how it works. Hope this helps.
DVD-RAM (DVDRandom Access Memory) is a disc specification presented in 1996 by the DVD Forum, which specifies rewritable DVD-RAM media and the appropriate DVD writers. DVD-RAM media have been used in computers as well as camcorders and personal video recorders since 1998.
The term DVD-RAM is a misnomer; the name is based on the (erroneous) abbreviation for RAM, meaning "read-and-write memory" - the opposite of ROM (Read-Only Memory). However, RAM actually stands for Random Access Memory (computer chips) and DVDs inherently cannot use the random access method.
Compared with other writeable DVDs, DVD-RAM is more closely related to hard disk technology, as it has concentric tracks instead of one long spiral track. Unlike the competing formats DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW and DVD-RW, special DVD burning software is not required to write or read DVD-RAMs on a computer. DVD-RAMs can be accessed like a usual floppy disk or hard drive.
Mac OS(Mac OS 8.6 or later), Linux and Microsoft Windows XP support DVD-RAM operation directly, while earlier versions of Windows require device drivers or the program InCD. The optical drives shipped with Apple Macintosh computers do not support DVD-RAM operation, but a third party DVD-RAM-compatible drive can be connected and used directly with Mac OS.

  • WHERE CAN I BUY A 5.2GB DVD-RAM TYPE 1 CARTRIDGE

I have spent hours looking on the net. Do they make them anymore?
    My DVD-RAM drive is a Matshita PD-2 LF-D110. Revision A110.
Can I use a 2.6GB Type 1 Cartridge in this drive?
If I upgrade to Tiger will I be able to use my DVD-RAM drive?
Power Mac G4 AGP Graphics   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   DVD RAM Matshita PD-2 D110

I know this does not directly answer you question, but you may want to consider getting a new DVD-/+R burner; they are less than $40 online (DVR-110D, ND-3550A, try newegg.com as one resource).
It may be less frustrating than trying to use your old DVD-RAM drive.
If you really want to use DVD-RAM, the DVR-110D firmware can be altered to support DVD-RAM (the non-US versions are marketed as such), or the LG GSA-4163B is also a DVD-RAM capable drive out-of -the-box.
In any OS prior to Tiger, you will need to download & run PatchBurn for iApp/Finder burn support.

  • DVD-RAM read/write in OSX 10.8.2

I have a number of disks in the DVD-RAM format which are backups from a family member.  I need to resurrect this now dated, but still quite effective DVD standard.  I have acquired a later Model Matshista (Panasonic) drive, Model SW-9576S, one of their faster and more recent DVD-RAM cartridge drives. It is housed in a new IDE=>USB enclosure.  It works fine on my 17" MBP using Win 7 in bootcamp, both reading and writing.  I believe I have an OSX software problem, since on the Mac side of the machine, the drive mounts, and files can be seen, but they cannot be read, and I cannot write a file to new media.  All of these cartridge DVD-RAM disks come from the factory formatted as "UDF".  I tried to format one for the Mac using disk utility, but it did not work, returning a disk error message and not allowing the format.
I know this is supposed to work, and DVD-RAM standard is still supported.  It has some advantages, particularly its ability to function as a hard drive with unlimited read/write cycles.
I would be grateful for any help....

DVD-RAM cartridges have a lock button for physical access to read/write.  Look for it.
MOST 3rd party DVD recorders from Samsung and others will read/write DVD-RAM in modern units. Check their specs.  The Apple Superdrive does NOT work with DVD-RAM
There is more issues about compatibility from the external USB 2.0 drive case onboard chip talking with USB 3.0 machine than with the Panasonic unit.
You can remove the DVD from the case and try using it in the unit as well.  The case just functions as an extra protection for fingers and dust.
IF it mounts, work with Disk Utility to check its abilities. If you can see it, and choose to Repair Disk successfully, its working.  If it gives you trouble to READ it, try a better enclosure/connection type like those from OWC or Mac knowledgeable sellers.

    Hi John,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives, right click the drive and select Uninstall - when this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load for a couple of minutes before checking if it's now listed correctly.

  • Help with the DvD Ram driver for Satelite P10

On my notebook (Sattelite p10) is Windows 2000 Professinal running, but the DVD Ram driver from the Toshiba Homepage does not work...
Where I can get a driver which is working on my notebook?

    Hi Val,
The correct driver for your notebook running Wnidows 2000 should be version 3.0.8.0 and is available for download from the Toshiba website.
I presume that this is the one which you have tried, so I am not sure what you mean when you say that 'it doesn't work'.

  • Tecra M7 DVD: CD/DVD RAM drive does not work since installing Vista

I did a clean installation on my Vista Ready new M7. It had XP tablet to begin with and the DVD drive worked fine. Indeed I used it to install Vista (Home Premium).
Now it does not work at all. It spins but does not read. Device Manager tells me device cannot start. Tried to update driver and it told me that it has the most uptodate driver.
Downloaded all the drivers from Tosh download centre for Vista upgrade of M7 (which got bluetooth, screen rotation etc to work fine). But none of the downloads seemed to be a driver for the DVD-Ram drive. Can not find a driver anywhere else (including Panasonic site).
    DVD drive is Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-841s
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
On the Toshiba driver page you can find the DLA for Tecra m7.
Did you try to install the XP DVD-RAM driver from the Toshiba page on the Vista OS?
    Maybe it will works
But listen the CD/DVD drive uses the common Microsoft drivers which are included into Vista or XP.
Therefore an additional driver should be not needed!
    One additional proposal;
Remove the CD/DVD drive from the device manager and reboot the notebook.
After new reboot the OS should install the drive again and should renew the software.
    Other hint:
    - Start the registry
    - Choose the registry key;
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    - In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters and LowerFilters then click Delete.
    - and restart the notebook

  • After upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1 my DVD RAM GT80N SATA Drive is no longer working

After upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1 my  DVD RAM GT80N SATA Drive is no longer recognizing discs. When I first put a disc in the drive runs for a bit and then stops. I've tried updating the driver but it says it has the most current driver. Under manage, it does not show any error codes and it says it is working correctly. I've looked at the regedit and it does not have any of upper and lower filters. I've tried disabling, rebooting, and reenabling. What am I missing? Another issue I've had since upgrading is that my network adapter needs reset several times a day in order to remain connected to wifi.

    Hello,
(sorry but I'm not very good in english)
I have a TOSHIBA SD-R6372 DVDRAM in my laptop computer, but windows (XP) recognize it as a MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ830S. So I can't write DVD-R and DVD-+RW. And when I wan't to updtae the firmware with SDR6372-1732.exe it's return the error : "The target drive is not found".
I suppose is a driver fault, but I can't find the driver anywhere.
    Please Help me.
    Thank you :)

    Hi
As far as I know there is no special driver for any drive and it will be used standard Microsoft driver. Just for DVD-RAM drive must be installed DVD tool. To understood your problem a little bit better it will be useful to know which notebook model you have.
