HP 2011x 20-inch LED Monitor

I bought this monitor in January of 2012.  It worked fine until I boxed it up for 7 months of storage.  After pulling it out and hooking it up to my computer, it does this...
Comes up clearly (I do receive an initial error).
After a minute or two while I'm working on it, the screen will start to flicker and then go black.  Sometimes it will come back.
I feel like the power cord might be warmer than normal as well.
Any ideas?  No one wants to service it locally, but at over $130, I'm pretty disappointed that this rarely used monitor has already died.  Not sure I'll ever choose another HP model again after this experience.
At this point, I'm willing to try to fix it myself if I could figure out what part(s) to purchase.

Hi J2W
Thank you for trying to remember the error, but not to worry we will go forward from here.
I am sending you a link to the user guide click here. Please see page 25 the 3rd one down in the list under problems.  I will a also include a document on Display Quality click here. • Will A 27 Inch Samsung LED Monitor work on my Macbook pro?

I have a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro and I am not sure what ports it has. I see 2 ports apart from the USB (2 ports), Power and LAN. I am planning to buy a 27 inch Samsung LED monitor for the laptop. Here are the Macbook specs:
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 Ghz
    Memory - 8 GB
    Graphic - NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
    VRAM - 256 MB
I have read that even if I buy a monitor with speakers, I won't be able to get sound from them. What are my options if I buy a monitor with or without speakers? Will I need to connect to speakers using USB? The monitor has an HDMI port... in that case what cable will I need to connect the monitor to my MBP?
Thanx in advance for all your help.

Well you are in luck (I think) because the 2009 models actually output sound via HDMI with minidisplay port.**
you'll need to get this Mini DP
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
and an hdmi cord, and then just plug and play!

in the comments from MM in Orlando, it says:
The best solution, instead of trying to figure out the date your mac was born and the cut-off, etc...
    1. Click on the Apple Icon in the top left corner of the screen.
    2. Click "About this Mac."
    3. Click "More Info."
    4. Click on "Audio (Built In)." *** If you see "HDMI Output or HDMI/DisplayPort Output
    - Then you are GOLDEN!!!! If not, you are like me and extremely frustrated
if you're out of luck like me, you can also try to get a miniToslink to Toslink cord, that is if your new samsung led supports it. I run mine into a 5.1 reciever so it doesn't matter if my monitor has one or not.

  • Is the LG 22EN33S-B 22-inch LED 1920 x 1080 VGA Monitor compatible with mac via a vga to thunderbolt connection

Is the LG 22EN33S-B 22-inch LED 1920 x 1080 VGA Monitor compatible with mac via a vga to thunderbolt adapter?

The 1080p and 1080i options only appear on the HDMI display settings, the display settings for the thunderbolt to vga adaptor has 1920 x 1080.
Via the HDMI output of the Mini via an HDMI cable to a HDMI input on the Samsung the display fills the screen but the text looks vile.
The options for picture adjustement on the samsung include fill screen as you suggest
Using the thunderbolt to VGA adaptor the text looks as it should, crisp and clear but the display is shitfted to the right.
The options for picture adjustment on the Samsung does not have the 'fill screen' option available when the VGA input is selected. However a new option called 'pc screen adjustment' appears and you can nudge the display over to the left a bit but not enough to cover the whole screen.
I remind you the pc worked perfectly 1920 x 1080 on the same VGA cable and input to the samsung.

  • Hi there, I'm thinking of buying both a new MacBook Pro and a small 22 inch LED tv for my kitchen... what would I need to be able to use (wireless of course) the tv as a monitor for the new computer? Apple tv? Airport Express? something else? Thanks.

    Hi a,
    http://www.mctiviausa.com/
There has been "talk" on and off of Apple TV doing it (and people have done it with a hack), but I haven't really followed it.
It would be a whole lot cheaper getting an adapter (as needed) and cable and simply pluggin it in when you're in the kitchen.

When I use Lightroom with the LG 29EA93 29 inch Widescreen LED Monitor Lightroom 5 initially looks and works OK but when I try and make changes using develop I get a gray area where the image should be (see below). Any suugestions would be appreciated.

  • Is Satellite C650D compatible with an 18.5 inch Widescreen LED Monitor?

    Hi.
Can anyone tell me if my laptop reference above in the subject line is compatable with the
Hanns G HL195 18.5 inch Widescreen LED Monitor.
I want to use my laptop in dual role, but not sure if it will work.
If it is compatable how do you connect the monitor up to the laptop.
    thanks
    dean

    Hi
Generally speaking any external monitor is compatible.
But the question is how do you want to connect the external monitor to the notebook
For example the Satellite C650D-10H supports the External monitor port (RGB port) only.
So you need to use this port in order to connect the external monitor.
It seems that the Hanns G HL195 18.5 inch Widescreen LED Monitor supports the VGA input so you should be able to connect this monitor using common VGA cable.

  • HP 2011x 20" LED monitor

My almost new 2011x 20" LED monitor, which worked perfectly when purchased, now displays a distortion pattern overlaid on top of any screen or window content.  I can't reach any onscreen menus except what might display on the extreme right or left of the screen where the pattern does not overlay.  Any suggestions as to what is wrong?  Does this when connected to another computer.

If the monitor was purchased less than a year ago, please contact HP Customer Support via telephone, chat, or email if in the USA. If you reside in another region, click the "map" in the lower left corner to select your locality.

  • I have a 2009 17" macbook pro .... how do I connect two 24" Viewsonic VX2450wm-LED monitors.

I purchased two 24" Viewsonic VX2450wm-LED monitors to connect to my 2009 17" macbook pro.
The monitor inputs is DVI.  Since the plugs do not match up...an oversite on my part when buying the monitors online, I am hoping to run these 2 monitors from mini displayport to DVI.  However, 2 external monitors requires a hub like the DualHead2Go DP Edition
However!  This device has many poor reviews on Amazon and I am concerned about spending the money and wasting the time on a device when there may be a better option.
At this point I dont plan on using the macbook screen while using the twin 24" screens.
The answer to this problem is not an easy one to solve and the answeres to my questions I am finding are bringing up new concerns...for example, learning that the Matrox above mentions that Hz compatability which i had never previously though of, may have been a problem to consider...depending on the monitor...however, i think im good here.
Can someone baby step me through the process and exactly what components I need to get these 2 External monitors working properly via my macbook pro?
Note: Please do not be an arrogant computer d!k.  I have already had 1 person act like a smart @ss when all I need is a real answer...not someone else Googling a 10 second easy answer and responding with sarcasm...I am quite familiar with a Boolean search...thanks but I am looking for someone with EXPERIENCE...not a search engine
*Would it be easier or cheaper for me to return these moitors and get different monitors with different plugs?
I appreciation all the input and assistance anyone can provide...I'm pretty new to the mac world.
    BTW.
The system will be used for the Adobe CS5 Suite (mostly Illustrator and Photoshop), Pro Tools 10, Serato SL3, Video Editing (mostly iMovie) and browsing.

    Hey drexfarrakhan,
Thanks for the question. For video, you can use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable or adapter. Our online store has a few offerings:
Mini DisplayPort to HDMI - Apple Store (U.S.)
    http://store.apple.com/us/search/Mini-DisplayPort-to-HDMI#!
However, your MacBook only supports video out via this connection:
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
So you’ll need an external stereo or speakers to output the sound to, using the headphone out port and a 3.5mm cable (or adapter, if needed):

  • 46 inch led touch screen?

Had this crazy idea the other day that i wanted to turn one of those new thin led screens into a touchscreen to make the ultimate drawing board for photoshop.
I see 46 inch overlays with mac drivers for touchscreen and multi touch, and cheap 46 inch led tv screens that are only an inch tall. So was wondering if anyone had done this yet.
Would lay the tv flat on my angled drafting table and use it for digital painting in photoshop mainly. But it would be nice to have it easily angled back to a wall mount or standing position. Im kinda waiting to see what lion will offer for touchscreen support and will probably just get another mac pro to use it solely for drawing and painting in the home studio.
Of course, a 60 inch lcd wiyh a 42-46 inch touchscreen overlay would be a nice touch so i can paint lazy with my arm resting on the board/monitor.
Any suggestions or noted completed projects of this sort?

    brightness 100
    contrast 70 (grayed out)
    sharpness 5
    black level low (grayed out)
can u tell me which is the best setting.

  • HP LD5535 55-inch LED Digital Signage Display set up

Hi, we have a "HP LD5535 55-inch LED Digital Signage Display" at our company which has hundreds of PCs. We want to install the Display monitor on the network.
We already downloaded and installed the display driver and the Utility Tools - "HP Video Over Ethernet" and "HP Network Sign Manager 4" from HP website at [ http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6917288&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4062 ]  .
The utility "HP Video Over Ethernet" could not search it on the network. The PC(IP 10.32.32.30 - Windows 7 professional) and the display are on the same subnet (IP 10.32.32.8) . The PC can ping the monitor.
The utility "HP Network Sign Manager 4" also could now search it, I can manually add it to the utility, and it shows the monitor's model name and the serial number,  but it could not associate. Could you please help me to fix it?
    Thanks.
    Andy

Your problem is that the program wants a good video card and a fast hard drive and lots of memory and you have none of the above. If you upgraded the RAM to 8 gigs and installed a solid state hard drive you might make the program useable but the real bottleneck  is going to be the Intel HD graphics, which cannot be upgraded.
You do have an open slot to add one 4 gig memory module. This is an easy relatively inexpensive upgrade. See here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7FvZ-JduRM
    http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/ct51264bf160b
I would try this a step at a time. Next would be the solid state drive. That would cost maybe $150. Post back if you need more help.

  • 27 LED Monitor Thunderbolt sound problems

I have a Mac Pro without thunderbolt, i bought a 27 inch and just bought an adapter to get it working. Its been working fine for months. I recently upgraded to 10.8.2 on a new drive and everything just went to ****. (one of the reasons i didnt want to upgrade)
First, i was having problems with my main account. Not able to open calendar because i didnt have permission (i did have an admin account), the problems calibrating my monitor (said that it could not find the profile) then problems with Terminal saying that i didnt have permission.
So i said **** it, and juts created a new account and it pretty much fixed everything and deleted the old one.
Now, i left my computer on and went out to take some pictures, when i get back and try to import and listen to music, i find out that the music/sound is coming out of my headphones. (i didnt changed it). Asked everyone at my house to see who touched my pride and joy, but no one did.
When ever i try to select Display out, it automatically changes back to headphones. Everything working but the sound. Restarted the computer and nothing. When i unplug the USB from computer it will crash it and restart. Left the computer off and USB unplugged for 15 seconds and still nothing. Tried other stuff that i read online and still nothing.
I did find out that a lot of people are having problems with LED monitors and Lion.
This is a clean install from less than 1 week, from 10.6.8 to 10.8.2 so i know that its not other software interfering.
Hope someone have an idea what the **** is going on with Moutain Lion

well, OSX 10.8.2 is freakin stupid. The Display Audio just started working all on it own. I had it on System preferences window, when i came back Display Audio was selected and i can play back audio.
If any one has an idea on why this problem is happening and how to prevent/fix, please let me know.
    Thx

  • MBP 15' 2011 Mini display port to LED monitor/TV resolution issue

    Hello,
I have just bought  a Mini Display - VGA adaptor which I am plugging to a Samsung 23' LED monitor via a VGA/DVI adaptor. I manage to get a clone view but unfortunately, the maximum resolution offered is 1650x1050 when my Samsung LED monitor has resolution of 1920x1080. Therefore, part of the screen remains black.
... also, when I plug the Mini display port to VGA to my Philips 47' VGA port, I got a message that there must be a problem with the connection and again, maximum resolution offered if 1440x10..  and therefore 20% of my TV screen space remains black.
At last, when I launch Windows7 via bootcamp, this is even wost : when I select the max resolution (1440x10..), the pictures remains freezed on my TV and I can't even move the mouse (while the mouse is moving on the MBP screen...). Only coming back to a very small resolution 800x600 or so will enable me to get control of the win7 desktop on my TV...
Thank you in advance for your help
    Greg

If you are using the monitor in Mirrored mode, its resolution setting will always be exactly the same as that of the built-in display. I presume you have the high-res 15" MBP display, with a native resolution of 1680 x 1050. If that's true, I suspect your monitor is indeed in Mirrored mode, and that's why you can't set the monitor to its native 1920 x 1080 resolution. If you press Command+F1 to toggle the mnitor into Extended Desktop mode, you'll be able to set its resolution independently of the built-in display. Or if you use only the external monitor, with the MBP display closed, you'll be able to set the monitor's resolution to whatever it supports.

Stacking one video adapter on top of another is usually a recipe for trouble. It's always best to keep things as simple as possible. Use one adapter that gets you from mini-Displayport to whatever input you want to use on the TV or monitor.
