HP 2420dn printer - Tray 3 is missing from new Snow Leopard Driver
I am a physician and have plain paper in tray 2 and NYS preprinted prescriptions in tray 3. This was working fine with leopard. After the upgrade I cannot find tray 3. Tray 3 is enabled on the printer configuration and it shows up on the Web configuration tray correctly.
When I go to:
Preferences/Options% Supplies/Driver
There is a check box for duplex unit
fit to page drop down menu
total printer memory drop down menu
But NO check box for tray 3.
I have other HP laserjet printers in my medical office 2340 etc and they are all working fine with tray 3.
I upgrated to Snow Leopard correctly using a CD and then did a software update that contained new printer drivers.
I have rebooted the printer, my computer.
What is going on? Is the new printer driver for HP 2420 dn defective?
Is there a work around. Generic printer drivers also don't have this extra tray 3

I have found a work-around. The printer driver for 2340 works just fine! I don't know if I am doing any harm by using the wrong printer driver. Clearly, there is a bug that needs to be fixed in the 2420dn driver for Snow Leopard

Can't scan from my HPC4280 with new Snow Leopard
I downloaded the new snow leopard and now my HPC4280 All In One scanner is not working. Printer and copier works fine. I've tried the 3 fixes from the HP support but nothing is working. I went to System Preference clicked on printer/fax, click on the left dialog box clicked on HP AIO to view the options and when I click on scanner it said not available or something like that, I then did what HP said in the" Important Gotcha" clicking on - at the bottom to delete, then clicking the + to add back, after I did that, the scan icon no longer appeared. Scanner was working just fine prior to the new snow leopard

Connect the two via Firewire cable - Transferring files between two computers using FireWire. Boot the old iMac into Target Disk Mode. Boot the new iMac normally.
If you are starting the new iMac for the first time then do the above before you turn on the new iMac. After you turn on the new iMac you will begin in the Setup Assistant. When you complete the registration screens you will be offered an opportunity to migrate your data from another Mac. Follow the instructions to migrate your old Home folder, third-party applications and support files, and system preferences to the new iMac.
If you have already gone through the Setup Assistant and created an initial admin user account, then you do the connection step but will use Migration Assistant in the Utilities folder of the new iMac. -
I migrated everything from my Snow Leopard iMac to my new Lion iMac and now when I launch anything in CS5 like Photoshop the Adobe Manager pops up and wants my serial numbers or to start a trial version. I don't have my CS5 serial numbers but wouldn't they migrate over with everything else?

Help. I recently bought a 2008 Mac Pro from Mac of all Trades. It came with Leopard 10.5 installed. When I set initially started the computer, I followed the instructions on the screen. I was asked to set up a password which I did. Since I'm very forgetful and not too tech savy, I wrote it down as I typed it in. I first went to install Office Mac 2011 but when it asks for a password, it won't accept the one I set up. I was told that if I bought the new Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and installed it, that it would reset everything. Well, it won't allow me to load it without the password. I am new to Apple - this is my first. I have always been able to "reboot" a computer with discs but I'm not sure how to do this one. Is there a way to do it without the password and reset everything? Could somone please email me

<Email Edited by Host>If you don't have original install disks for your Mac, you can order replacements disks directly from Apple at a nominal cost. The original install DVDs are required to reset the password.
If you have no data on your drive that you want to keep, you can boot up from the OSX Snow Leopard disk and install OSX SL.
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and hold the C key during startup. The Mac should boot from the CD/DVD drive into the installer.
Follow the prompts, erase the disk and install OSX Snow Leopard. -

Well first you have to figure out what is wrong with the machine and solve that problem first.
Your post is very vague on what occured, and there are many types of "crashes" it really depends upon what see on the screen and what the hardware does, we can't see it to tell you, so you have to tell us.

If this is going way over your head, there are local PC/Mac techs that will assist you for a fee, Apple only does hardware repairs and is advised to use them if you discover it is, especially if under warranty/AppleCare.
Hard drive and RAM upgrades can be handled yourself or by a outside tech in many older models of Mac, but don't expect Apple to cover the new parts.

It is Intel Only (As In only works with Snow Leopard).
Reports here vary mainly because people come here looking for help so it is a some what distorted view. (we never get to here from people who had no issue setting it up).
Some have reported issues trying so set up "accounts" using Apple IDs they already use elsewhere.
This may centre around the issue of using one Email address as th ID/Account emails and using another for people to Call (it's a bit like an Alias situation).

How do I get my new Snow Leopard 10.6.3 upgrade to be 10.6.8?
Earlier today I backed up my leopard (on my new external hard drive, $89.99) and installed my new Snow Leopard upgrade (purchased from Apple for $19.99). They sent me 10.6.3, however, it looks like I need 10.6.8 to get the new itunes which was my reason for upgrading in the first place. My son got the ipod touch 5th generation ($225) which requires the new itunes. How do I get my new Snow Leopard 10.6.3 upgrade to be 10.6.8? The price tag is adding up quickly!

How do I send files from my IMAC via bluetooth to my new Ipad? They will not "pair" but they are connected and discoverable. I send a file from Imac snow leopard OS X 10.6 to the ipadusing bluetooth, but the failure message says the ipad does not have the necessary services. What are these? Do I neeed to have iphoto and ms word to send pix and .doc files?
File Sharing over Bluetooth is not a feature of iOS devices. iOS does not include the required Bluetooth profiles to allow this. You cannot add this feature, so you may as well stop trying.

This problem is not unheard of when upgrading from Snow Leopard. It is usually solved by completely deleting the existing printer in System Preferences > Print & Scan, and adding it again.

Yes, via #16 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. But the permissions from Computer A will be restored, too, so the user account you restore them to on computer B may or may not have permission to see or change them. -
i have zero out all data on my imac, as i brought it second hand and the disk the guy supplied dont seem capatable with my imac to install the operating system again so it is frozen at the grey start up screen. should i buy a new snow leopard disc from apple and install that as my new operating system. please help as had the computer a month now and still cant use it yet.
You can call AppleCare and request a replacement set of the original DVD's that shipped with the computer for a nominal charge. You will need the serial number (look on the bottom of the stand) and a credit card. Click the AppleCare Contact Info link. Without knowing which iMac you have it's very difficult to say if a new SL disc would work or not.

Booting from a Snow Leopard Retail dvd
I have a 2009 iMac that came with Leopard installed. I later purchase the retail Snow Leopard disc with I believe 10.6.3.
I want to reformat my iMac HD and reinstall a fresh copy of Snow Leopard so I can move my Mac Pro data over to it, but it doesn't load the Snow Leopard disc when I reboot and hold the Option key.
I've upgraded to 10.6.8 and was wondering if that was the problem. I have used the original Leopard Install discs to check the drive and corrected a few errors with one pass. Should the iMac be able to boot from the SL disc? Not being able to read the dvd, I can't even attempt a .dmg image to mount, even if I knew how. I've read numerous posts with other users not being able to boot from the SL retail disc.
Would I have the same issues if I purchase a new Snow Leopard Install dvd?Unlike Windows, the DVD or CD versions of the Mac OS (Snow Leopard or earlier) have no serial number, or even keep track of how many times you've installed it. It's all on the honor system of following the license you have, which as mende1 noted, is either a single computer license, or five in one household (not shared with friends or relatives).
Lion and Mountain Lion are a bit different. Macs that came with either OS have a machine specific version (for the necessary hardware drivers) and cannot be shared, other than with a 100% identical Mac. The App Store versions are intended for Macs that were released before the respective OS's, and contain only the hardware drivers for the Mac models they are listed to support.
