HP 2450 scanner and driver

I find out that the EPSON Scan (2.7zb) works on my 3.2 dual Mac Pro, but still i cannot use it within CS3 untill i do not run CS3 in rosetta mode. Quite frustrating.
All that because the driver is not a UB driver. I asked Epson and they told me are waiting Apple to release the new driver (on the epson web is written that should be available in november (last year!!)). So who is going to release the UB driver for this scan?
Apple? Epson? Adobe?
Moving to Intel has not been such a great choice......in my opinion. It starts having the same problems related to Windows..... problems that we OSX users are not experienced to solve.

It is the responsibility of the manufacturer of the equipment to provide the new driver. That is how HP does it. If Apple had to write a new driver for every price of equipment that someone wanted to hook up they would never get anything done.
Also your post in the header mentions HP but in your post it says Epson which do you have?

Epson 2450 Scanner no longer available as an import into Photoshop

I am having a problem with my Epson 2450 scanner importing into Photoshop. Last week with thoughts of upgrading, I purchased an Epson V700. I installed the scanner but found it not to my liking and returned it. Yesterday I downloaded and ran the Uninstaller to remove the V700. This however deleted my 2450 driver as well. I reinstalled the 2450 driver from Epson but then, and after repeated attempts, found that the 2450 is not showing up as an import option. Please note that I am still using Tiger. Any suggestions to getting this all working again as it has for the past 8 years would be greatly appreciated. One simple use of an uninstaller has turned for the worse - I wish I had just kept the V700 installed and just ignored that it was still listed in Photoshop as an import choice. (Please note also, that I am a high school photo teacher and was planning on giving the 2450 to my school. I was not able to load the driver and use the scanner through Photoshop on our school Macs either.)

I can't get my iphone 5s to transfer pictures to my computer, windows xp, i keep getting a no pictures found result on everything I have tried. Windows Live Photo Gallery, Scanner and Camera Wizard, and just by opening up my Computer. Advice anyone?

I can't open up anything for my iPhone 5s but my wife's regular iPhone 5 works fine. Nothing shows up when I open up My Computer and double click the Apple iPhone icon. My iPhone keeps asking if I trust this computer. I keep clicking trust. I have no updates pending on my iPhone. I have tried the Scanner and Camera Wizard and also Windows Live Photo Gallery. Can anyone help me with this issue? Is this happening to anyone else? Thanks in advance.

Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? v11.1.4. If you are having issues with Camera and Scanner wizard, it is possible the USB driver for the phone is not fully loaded. You might try resetting the phone and then trying again with the photos.
Also, Microsoft has announced that on April 8, 2014 it will cease all support for XP, I would seriously be looking for a new device soon. This lack of support will cause a myriad of issues in the near future with newer products.
If the reset does not work, you can look at removing and resinstalling iTunes and then plugging the phone back in. This should download the latest drivers. See this support document and follow the instructions exactly for removing and reinstalling iTunes. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925

IPhone not downloading photos via Scanner and Camera Wizard?

I have an iPhone 3GS with iOS4.2, which has all been going fine (except for the standard alarms not working, reception problems, etc.) and I've been trying to get 2500+ photos off my phone for some time. Ordinarily, I simply open the scanner and camera wizard and save all my photos to an external hard drive, but now when I open the wizard thumbnails for only 39 photos show up, with the rest as red boxes with crosses that say downloading. I have left my phone for up to an hour and none of the photos download.
The last time I ran the wizard I had roughly 2000 photos on my iPhone and there were about 20 photos that did not appear, so I just downloaded everything else. I have tried to retrieve my photos (and failed) using iPhone Explorer and Phone Disk, and both only showed the 39 photos that had 'downloaded'. I don't know if it's a phone fault, or software fault (I'm currently running Windows XP) but it is very annoying.
My iPhone does appear in My Computer as a camera, but not files are in the folder. I've also tried other 'home remedies' such as taking a photo whilst it is connected and then the files appear for some people, no such luck for me. The amount of problems I've had with it is frustrating. As much as I love my iPhone, the fact that such simple tasks end up taking a hundred times longer than they should is making me consider if the cons are really worth the pros.
I'm assuming that I'm not alone with this problem, but has anyone else been able to sort it out?

I had the same problem. However I fixed it by replacing the Apple USB cable. The only thing that doesn't work correctly now is that Picasa 2 opens and imports the photos into Picasa 3. I will continue to use the program as it is but it is a little confusing and I would like to know what is happening.

Scanjet G4050 and driver 1.3.0 + Mac OSX 10.9.4

I recently returned to the combination Vuescan/Scanjet G4050 for the first ime since March this year (after scanning several thousand negs) and found it no longer worked properly. Vuescan no longer recognised the transparancy capabilities of the scanner, but flatbed scans were OK.
I decided to update to the latest driver 1.3.0.
Now on startup the scanner makes an extra noise (a long whine) for ca 30 seconds and the indicator light then flashes (for ever?) turning it off and back on again returns it to a normal standby.
But now Vuescan hangs on startup, or sometimes suceeds on opening but will not respond to scan requests. The scanner sort of works with Image Capture through System Preferences but it is very slow and the images are posterized.
Vuescan is working perfectly with my other scanner, and I have even tried earlier versions of it with this driver with the same results.
THe HP utility is also crashing now and the uninstall program sees nothing.
I have been advised by Ed Hamrick at Vuescan to use the 32 bit version of the program to sidestep this. That hasn't worked yet... will try a complete restart but i'm sending this whatever the result as there seems to be something wrong with this driver...

OK, using the 32 bit version of Vuescan worked with this driver, even if it behaved differently (scans twice) and the scanner is still behaving oddly at start-up (30 second whine then straight into energy save mode)

HP OfficejetPro L7780 - Problem installing HP Deskjet and Officejet Software Suite and Driver.

I was having problems with the scanner in my HP Officejet Pro L7780 All in One.
On an HP discussion board, I found that I should install the full HP Deskjet and Officejet Software Suite and Driver.
When I tried installing it, an error message popped up saying that "the application had requested the Runtime to terminate it".
I have no idea what this means. Any help/suggestions? Thanks!

Epson scanner and image capture: blank white image

I've been trying to make an epson perfection 1670 scanner work on an iMac running 10.6.4
Since epson no longer specifically supports this model I am going to Image Capture and the epson drivers supplied by Apple. I have downloaded/installed the updated drivers twice (once via software update and once manually from apple support).
I can get image capture to recognize the scanner and perform preview and full scans.
The frustrating thing is that the image generated is completely blank; a white page. I have tried using the scanner and image capture on two other mac's (macBook pro, macBook) both running 10.6.4 and both of these produce the same white page (although they do recognize the scanner).
I thought the scanner may have finally broken so i tested it on another (old) iMac G3 running os x 10.4.11 and epson's scanning utility; it worked fine and made a nice scan.
I have tried to get epson's scanning utility to work under 10.6.4 by reinstalling it; I can get it to startup and run the scanner but it too produces a blank white image!
I conclude there is some basic software incompatibility between the drivers and os x 10.6.4. Its odd that the drivers and image capture can run the scanner but cannot send an image to the computer.
The epson driver in the latest apple update is version 5.2.5 (Copyright 2003 ???) while the latest driver on the epson site (for image capture) is 5.3. Tried to download the epson driver and got file not found (*!%#?&).

I had the same problem with my Epson 1260 scanner. The "updated" drivers provided by both Apple and Epson produced the exact same result - blank white pages, or if anything showed up at all, it would be all chopped up and skewed, like it had gone through a shredder. Trying to adjust the brightness and other slider settings made no difference.
After wrestling with it for a week, I finally found a solution. First make sure Rosetta is installed. Use the old PowerPC Epson TWAIN driver from 2003; with the filename EPSON TWAIN 5.ds. Put it in the folder /Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources/.
Then, don't use Image Capture. Download Graphic Converter. Set it to open in Rosetta mode. Then you can use Graphic Converter's File -> Acquire -> TWAIN Acquire... menu command to scan using the old EPSON TWAIN driver.

Scanner And Image Capture Problem

Well, I went a couple weeks ok with the Scanner and Image Capture. And then kaput, it doesn't work. I thought about it some and it seemed to stop working after I did Software Update on March 17th, 2012. In that update was a "Digital Camera Raw 3.1.0" update. Which makes me very suspicious.
Here is the error I get when I open Image Capture:
So, it recognizes the scanner but can't do anything in Image Capture or the with the scanner buttons.
I ran Software Update again, just to see if there was a new updated scanner driver but nothing came up.
Any ideas? I really want to avoid using the manufacturer's SW drivers etc.

I feel like a complete idiot. It was exactly the lock button. The last time I finished using it, I locked it. I totally forgot about it and I never thought of that being the problem to check.

Epson Perfection 2450 scanner not working with Mavericks

My Epson Perfection 2450 scanner stopped working when I upgraded to Mavericks, it is not recognizing the scanner. Tried restarting, using a different USB cable, a different USB port, etc...with no luck. The issue is that my computer no longer seems to recognize that I plugged it in. Tried it with Image Capture, Photoshop, Preview and even the old Epson software.
I tried downloading the Epson Scan Patch for Mavericks released on Oct 31, 2013. That did not help either.
I'm on a MacBook Pro running Mavericks version 10.9.3.
Love this scanner and don't want to have to buy another. Any help to get my Mac to recognize it would be greatly appreciated.

My wife's iMac with 10.6.6 stopped working with her Epson 2480 Photo scanner. Get the error message "SCANNER reported an error. An error has occurred during scanning" I am trying to use it from the Image Capture App or from the print/fax option in Settings which opens Image Capture. I ran the uninstall program and then reinstalled the ICA 13969 .dmg but get the same error. Not sure what else I can do.

Mustek A3 Scanner Leopard driver?

I have a Mustek A3 scanner, and although it says it is Mac OS X compliant, it isn't recognised by iPhoto. I resorted to installing its Windows driver and scanning software under Windows XP under VMWare, which works fine, but it would be nice if it worked under Leopard. Their website doesn't help. It is the 600 pro A3 USB scanner. I don't want to buy Photoshop just to scan the odd drawing.

Epson 2450 scanner oddness

I'm having an issue with an Epson Perfection 2450 scanner that worked fine with Lion until recently. Now I cannot get the scanner to work and there are odd things going on.
I've reset my printer system in system prefs and unplugged/restarted the scanner and restarted my mac several times. The scanner either doesn't show up in Preview or shows up multiple times. Last time I cleared the printers I had 5 instances of the scanner to choose to add; none of them worked. I keep getting either "scanner not available" or "failed to open a scanning session" error messages.
Any ideas on what to try next?

Two further points to follow up:
1 in addition to the Epson updates, you may also need to update the Smart Panel software - then try scanning into Epson Smart Panel rather than Image Capture
2 Epson scanners can be fussy about how they are recognised - if you can't get the scanner to work properly, try disconnecting the scanner physically (= take out the USB cable) and then reinstall the software. Then reconnect the USB cable. I had to do this once when my 3170 just refused to be recognised properly.

Canon MP560 Scanner Twain Driver Not Working

I have a Canon MP560 MFP and for some reason the Scanner does not show up in applications like Image Capture or Preview. However, it works fine with Canon's MP Navigator 3.0. I downloaded and installed the latest Canon driver software for that Printer for 10.6 but that didn't seem to make any difference. I have tried turning off the printer and turning it back on. I use it wirelessly only and before the latest Canon printer update it all worked fine. Now it can print fine wirelessly and it can scan wirelessly only if I use Canon's MP Navigator, which I do not prefer to use for simple scanning tasks.
In Library/CFM Support I have a BJExtDDI.cfm and a TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb file.
What is missing here? This used to work fine.

The scanning via Image Capture or Preview uses the ICA driver. This is included with the [Canon driver update|http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899] available from Apple. The Canon scanner driver supports the scanning via MP Navigator but not Image Capture or Preview and the ICA driver does not support this application.
So it sounds like you have a problem with the ICA driver. This driver package is located in HD > Library > Image Capture > Devices > CanonIJScanner1. You could try installing the [ICA v1.7.0 driver|http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100213301.html] which will update this package.
If that doesn't help then can you confirm if you can see the scanner if you select to add it to Print & Fax. If you select to Add the wireless MP560 should be seen twice in the Default view - first as a Bonjour Scanner and then a bit later as canonijnetwork.
FYI - Another postee found that he was not able to locate the scanner component via wireless, while the printer component was still working fine via wireless.

TWAIN and driver crashes in CS3

I know this appears to be a common problem, but I'm wondering if anyone has some success with this particular problem.
I have a Canon CanoScan 8800F and I can scan from CS3 just fine for a little while, but eventually, it will give me the following errors:
"ScanGear:
Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed."
followed by:
"Could not open the TWAIN source. Make sure there is a valid source for your scanner in the TWAIN directory in the Windows directory"
If I reboot my computer, I can scan through Photoshop again, but only for a few minutes.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions? I've updated the drivers for the scanner and I'm running the most up-to-date version of CS3.

hmm. ok. My computer doesn't have that option to change advanced power settings (probably yet another reason why XP Media Center edition is not a great product. I swear, I have more problems with USB on Windows machines than anything else.).
What I did learn, though, is that the scanner only draws 2mA through the USB. According to this Microsoft troubleshooting document, "USB devices can draw a maximum of 500 milliamps for each connection. If a device tries to draw more power than this, the specification recommends that the computer should be able to disable that specific port until the computer power is cycled (this is known as "suspending" the port). In addition, if the device draws less than 50 milliamps, the port never becomes active."
not sure where to go from here, since my Google-fu isn't coming up with anything about USB power options and XP Media Edition.

I need to confirm does scanner and camera detection of iphone require installation of itunes or is that a native function of operating system like XP?

Importing photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll is a completely separate function that does not involve iTunes as with any other digital camera, but a driver is probably required for this which is installed when installing iTunes.
