HP 2509m 25" widescreen monitor

Monitor screen began flickering for a few days. Now the screen is black. What's the problem?

jsw01,
Does the power light still come on and/or change color??? If so, please shine a flashlight at the front on the screen at various angles and look a faint image on the screen. If you see an image that corresponds to what your computer is actively doing, your backlight inverter and/or lamps have gone bad.

  • CS6 Firewire 16:9 preview is letterboxed on widescreen monitor

With CS6, is there a setting to fix the Firewire Preview since the 16:9 video is incorrectly letterboxed on a widescreen video monitor? It is basically letterboxing something that doesn't need to be letterboxed. This is for a 1080 24p AVCHD project with 1080 24p video files.
Adobe Encore & After Effects CS6 properly dsiplay the Firewire Preview on a widescreen monitor.
In Encore, there is acctually a setting in the Preview Menu that lets you change the TV Mode from 16:9 to 4:3 Letterbox. That only affects the preview when choosing to the Preview the DVD. When playing the video from the Timeline or clicking on a DVD Menu that setting doesn't change how the Firewire Preview displays and is always 16:9. Premiere is always 16:9 letterboxed.
Any suggestions on how to get Premiere to display 18:9 using Firewire Preview without letterboxing it?
    Randy

I checked it using various Firewire devices but they all act the same in this situation. Pioneer DVD recorder, Sony DV camcorders.
The unique thing with Premiere CS6 compared to CS5.5 or earlier versions is that it allows Firewire previews with the Mercury GPU on, it doesn't force you to turn that feature off and use the Mercury Software setting instead which is lower performance if you have the proper video card.
I just checked it using Premiere CS5.5 and it does the same thing. In 1080 HD Sequences, Firewire out has the 16:9 incorrectly letterboxed, or what I call "double" letterboxed.
With both CS5.5 and CS6, the Firewire preview is correctly displayed in a DV 480i 16:9 Widescreen Sequence.
A little annoying but this is where an old Sony PVM 4:3 broacast video monitor works well in combination with a widescree 16:9 video monitor still. Simply turn off the 16:9 mode and it will dsiplay it correctly when editing an HD Sequence. When using a DV widescreen Sequence you would then click on the Sony PVM's 16:9 mode so it would letterbox correctly.
Surprised Adobe didn't fix this in Premiere CS6

  • M30: FX G05200 + external Widescreen Monitor: Resolution 1440x900 not available

    Hi!
    I`ve got the following problem:
I`d like to connect a external TFT Widescreen Monitor with a native resolution of 1440x900 to my Satellite M30 with a GeForce FX Go5200.
But: It is not possible to adjust the resolution of the Graphics Card to 1440x900 (16:10), there are just standard resolutions (4:3) available.
    I tried nearly everything:
    - installed Monitor Drivers ==> no effect
    - updated Drivers for the Go5200 (to 4644) ==> no effect
    - updated Bios (to 1.7) ==> no effect
    - Tried RIVAtuner and PowerStrip ==> no clue = no effect
Now Im pretty helpless and I dont know what to do...
Maybe someone faced the same problem here and found a solution.
    Thank you for your help.

Pair a wireless KB with the laptop and all should be well when you attach the laptop to the iMac and invoke TDM. But as Denny mentions, it does seem like the waste of a good iMac to use it in just this configuration. Why is the laptop primary?

  • Good low-cost widescreen monitor for one-screen editing?

Hello, I'm on a tight budget, looking for a widescreen monitor that is a good blend of low-cost but good quality (if possible!).
I will be doing all my work off this single monitor. I will unfortunately NOT be able to have a dual-monitor setup, nor have an external reference monitor. I will be editing HDV footage.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

It is a PVA screen with dual DVI and a D-sub connector.
I use three of them and they give me a good BFTB, "Bang-for-the-Buck".
If you consider the various panels in use, they go from low to high in quality, TN >> PVA >> IPS.

  • Mac book and "Acer X191WSD 19" Widescreen Monitor"

    Hello Guys
I just got a new "Acer X191WSD 19” Widescreen Monitor" and tried to hook my macbook with the external monitor, using mini dvi to dvi cable. When I hooked my Pc to the external monitor (using vga) it recognized the setting and automatically recognized and resized it. But not with Macbook. I played around for some time, at last it did recognize my macbook, but there is only a background of my desktop (not my icons--just a blue one). But when I mirrored my macbook to ext monitor, it worked fine. I donot want to mirrored.
Is it possible to use my ext monitor as my macbook monitor (with out mirroring and not extension of my monitor macbook + ext monitor).
The reason is that, it looks annoying when I want to watch a DVD/Movie on the ext monitor
    Thx for your help guys
    C

One thing that just clicked in my little pea brain. When you first hook up your external monitor in extended mode it will only have the blue background. This allows you to drag any windows and other stuff over to it. I keep two finder windows open and mail open on my external.

  • Widescreen monitor support?

I was recently gifted with a Dell 20" widescreen monitor that I'd like to use with my G4 running 10.2.8. I can't figure out how to create a monitor setting that will pixelate properly.
Any ideas/help? This is my spare graphics machine, so if the monitor is out of proportion, it's useless.
    Thanks in advance!

A few months ago I purchased a ViewSonic 22" wide-screen monitor and quickly found the better choice of resolution came when using the monitor's VGA port instead of its DVI port. When on DVI, only the native res 1680x1050 gave "normal" aspect ratios; every other resolution left icons somewhat distorted. The problem for me was that, at 1680X1050, the text on most web sites was too small for my aging eyeballs.
Under VGA (and the video adaptor that came with the G4 MDD), I now routinely run at 1440x900 and get a happy combination of adequate text size and plenty of desktop real estate.
See if your Dell monitor has both DVI and VGA ports.

  • Widescreen monitor benefits???

I currently have a 2-3 year old flat panel LCD 17" monitor but with price drops was thinking of going with a widescreen monitor, are there benefits, or will my Windows XP and internet look funny on the widescreen since I have an older computer?  I heard the internet is still in "full-frame" mode, is this true, would I just do better keeping my 17" regular size?
    THANKS!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Widescreen monitors offer several advantages for those who use their computers as entertainment machines. For those who want a truer picture of the way a movie was intended to be displayed, without the minimizing and annoying letterboxes, a widescreen monitor is essential. Further, many computer games are also shot in a widescreen format. While it may be possible to play these games on a monitor with a more traditional ratio, it is not the intention of the producer.

  • External widescreen monitor

I just bought a hannspree widescreen monitor for my pb since the screen has been acting up. I'm using a hdmi to dvi cord. problem is im only getting a letter box view. It is not stretched out. Is there anyway to expand it so it will fit the entire screen?

If you mirror, you won't be taking advantage of the widescreen, since it will be forced to the lower resolution of the eMac's screen, so I see little point in having a big widescreen. A 17" at 1024x768 would do the same, be sharper, and cost less (you might find a 19" that does 1024x768, but they're a bit rare).
You'll need a miniVGA to VGA adapter, and of course a VGA-capable LCD.

  • 16:9 showing on widescreen monitor with bars

Hi - I shot on a Z1 in 16:9, I imported as DV PAL anamorphic. It shows fine in the viewer and is full screen on a widescreen monitor. But when I edit it onto a 16:9 sequence it appears with black bars top and bottom in the canvas and on the monitor. Is it supposed to?
I can go into the Motion tab and change the aspect ratio to 0 to make the image full screen, but shouldn't it do this automatically?
    Appreciate your help.

Were your clips already on the timeline when you changed your sequence settings to 16x9?

  • Gateway 24" HD LCD Widescreen Monitor

    Hello,
Can I plug a Gateway 24" HD LCD Widescreen Monitor into my iMac G5 with iSight and get maximum benefit from the resolution of 1920*1200 ?
    Thanks,
    John.

You should also be aware that the display will be a mirror of internal display and will not provide any additional space.
Apple has disabled dual-displays and only the hack can open that up.

  • Resolution for Widescreen Monitor question

We have a project that requires a flash presentation that
will run on a widescreen monitor (1366 x 768) at a tradeshow booth.
Any advice on what resolution to use for our images? We had
thought 150dpi would give us smooth color gradations. True?
If we use that, should we made our document size larger or
scale down the graphics when importing them to the stage?
    Any help/advice is appreciated.
    -K

First of all, dpi is meaningless for screen graphics (ie, the
web). What you are really looking at is pixels, so pixel dimensions
    is all that really matters.
In the end, if the the monitor is 1366x768 then your best bet
is to just make the Flash that size. Flash can run slowly when
played at larger resolutions, regardless of whether the original
size was large or the movie is being scaled up. If you can, get the
latest Flash Player 9 update beta from labs.adobe.com, it is
significantly better in performance, especially at large scale
    sizes.
I've made a number of Flash demos to be played on monitors at
tradeshows and such, and I would suggest your best bet would be to
make yout images the actual size they will be displayed, and scale
as little as possible in Flash (excusing any scaling animation, of
course). The way I do this is make mockups of all my main keyframe
sequences in Photoshop (or Fireworks, which is what I use, which
has frames and pages so motion storyboards are actually really easy
to do, but you could also just make a sequence of PSDs) at the
final size, 1366x768, and then when you are ready export you know
the images are the size they should be.
One last thing to mention, if you intend to animate your
images in Flash in any way, make sure you set their properties in
the Libray so that "allow smoothing" is on -- it will make the
    animations of bitmaps much smoother.
