HP 2509m monitor

I own a HP 2509m monitor. Purchased in Dec 2009. Bought from Costco because they extended the warranty by 1 year. Unfortunately, still 10 months out of warranty. The monitor has failed...not receiving power. Has been great up until now. Not used to moniotrs failing in the past. Have owned 8-10 monitors over the years. Usually end up upgrading with new technology and donating old equipment to church or school. Looking to replace but not much faith in HP any more. Looks like from the posts that many users have had numerous problems with this monitor. Anyone have a good experience with HP monitors?

Hello SPB1956,
My first general assumption was to avoid this thread. Not that I didn't want to support you with any issues you had, but I didn't think you hearing from me saying that there are good experiences with HP monitors was going to really sway your opinion on the matter.
What I can say this, if you had not had a problem with the monitor would you be posting on the forums saying how great the monitor is? Generally speaking most people who post on the internet and post on forums have had a bad experience with whatever product they are using. I know personally I don't go around to companies forums and websites and praise them on a good product if it's good, but I have blasted a company if I received a bad product. HP ships hundreds of thousands of monitors a year if everyone was having a bad experience then the company would tank very fast, so that can't be happening.
We are here for you. HP supports their products and even when your warranty runs out you can come to the HP forums where HP does have HP representatives (these are the forums members with the HP logo next to their name) and have people who HP has determined are Experts on their products (those with the expert logo next to their name) answer questions on these forums for those users. I'm not saying your future question or issue could be resolved on the forums, but I'm not sure you are going to get that same level of support with another product.
To put in short, there are people who have good experiences with HP monitors, but I wouldn't expect them to start flocking out of the wood works to this thread, unfortunately.

  • HP 2509m monitor - screen flutters

My HP 2509m monitor screen flutters, almost always at startup.  This will last anywhere from 5 minutes and up.  Lately, it's been lasting longer, like 30 minutes and the picture is dark on the left, clearing gradually to the right.  When the screen corrects itself, the flutter stops and the screen brightness normalizes.
Does this sould like a monitor problem or the graphics card/processor or ???.
The specs for the PC (HP Pavillion p6367c-b) say the graphics are Integrated Intel GMA X4500 HD Graphics. I assume that means on the motherboard rather than a separate card.
    TIA, Bill

    Hello Sunalta,
Highly unlikely that HP will replace or repair your monitor unless you purchased a extended warantee from HP (or if the store where you purchased the monitor gave you some sort of extended warranty).  They seem to be ignoring the fact that there is a defect in your particular monitor.  But it can't hurt for you to contact HP and explain your situation.
From the research I did, and my own ownership experience with HP 2509m, you'll probably have to buy another monitor.  I have not heard of anyone successfully repairing this model.   Perhaps, the store where you purchased the monitor will give you a discount if you explain the problem you had with your purchase from them?  Worth a try.
My monitor did the same thing as yours. The problem began suddenly, lasted for about 2-3 weeks, then suddenly the monitor just died!   The problems has nothing to do with your video card or drivers or anything. The problem lies within the montor... i.e.: cheap workmanship.
I wish you the best of luck

  • HP 2509m Monitor Freezes

    Hello,
My monitor keeps shutting off when I am either watching a video, or when there is an extended amount of animation on the screen, including simply closing a window. I am trying to track down the issue. Is it the response rate? Is the screen simply not keeping up with whats going on on the screen?
The screen will freeze and turn into a solid color or a bunch of line, original screen content is NOT VISIBLE.
    NEED help
    Thanks ^_^

I understand you are having issues with your monitor freezing while watch a video and you can colored lines on the screen. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Display Quality Issues, which I believe addresses the issue you are describing. There are two sections I would like you to focus on in the document and that is "Several colored vertical lines in the display" and "Solid horzontal or vertical red, green, blue line" as these relate to what you are describing.
Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

Recently my HP 2509m monitor has begun flickering when it is coming our of sleep mode.  Today it flickered a bit on start up.

    Hi,
Check the cable connections and make sure that they are tight.
Try a different monitor and cable to separate the monitor and cable from a possible PC issue. Alternatively, try the monitor and cable on a different PC.
Does the monitor behave the same way when it is has warmed up?

  • Monitor view weird , can't find drivers or monitor model here

I just picked up my montior at a Bargain Center , it is a new monitor , but i cant find the model here on HP's site  ,  it says on the back tag  , TSS-25BG  , and i searched and can not find this model
My issue is that every website i go to the image is in the center and not filling the screen  , i tried Windows settings , but nothing i did changed anything , i tried adjusting the broswer settings (it look the same in Firefox , and Google Chrome)  , even on this site , everything is bunched into the middle of the screen    , in my device Manager , it just says Generic Plug and Play Monitor , so i thought maybe the driver needs to be installed , but as mentioned  , i can't find my model on this site   , any info would be appreciated
FRESH (today) installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on brand new 1tb Sata HD  , Fresh Firefox , fresh  Google Chrome , ALL Windows Updates done today , and completely up to date  , i don't know if this will solve my issue , but i would like the correct drivers for the monitor anyway  , any idea's ??   ... Thanks ... Jim
    EDIT:
I just ran Belarc Advisor to scan my PC for hardware and software , and it says my montitor is a HP model 2509  , S/N 3CQ1161S5  , which is not what the back label says (what i posted above) , so i am confused  , the next question is , what 2509 model is it  , i thought i saw several ??  , for HD montiors i only saw 2  , a  2509M  and a  2509P , they are both HD Value monitors , which mine is HD , but which one ??
    EDIT2:
After reading all the info for the 2509 montiors , i have determined that mine is the 2509M , so i downloaded and installed the Driver and Manual for that ... it did not change the view , so i am now guessing this is a Windows 7 issue to do with wide screen monitors and how it shows images , so i will try the Microsoft forums and see if i find any answers

  • 2012 MBP Pro 13" - HP 2509m External Resolution Issues

    Hey
I have had a HP 2509m monitor for 1.5 years now. It was previously connected to my 2007 MB 13" and had no issues (via HDMI adapter)
I purchased the new MBP and bought this to attach the HDMI
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802 &p_id=5311&seq=1&format=2
It works, in that it gives me video, but the resolutions terrible, as is the colour.
I connect using  HDMI, and use the HP as the primary monitor (it is raised on a stand above my MBP) and I use a USB mouse and the MBP keyboard for my typing.
I want to be able to use it like this, I do NOT want to have to use clamshell  mode and buy another keyboard. It worked great before.
I AM able to use the external monitor, but the resolution and colour is terrible. I have tried Mirror, I have reset to factory, I can not find any way to ge the resolution on the monitor to swap from the current 1080 P, to the the recommended resolution of of 1920x1080 at 60HZ

  • HP 2509m 25" emitting a strange fuzzy buzzing noise from the back

Hi, i've had this monitor for just over a year now, so far everything has been great, no complaints at all. Untill recently, the monitor makes a weird buzzing, fuzzy sound from the back. I dont use the oboard speakers as my main audio, i have after market speakers. When i power off the monitor the sound goes away. Does anyone know how to fix this problem ? Do i have to take it in to a repair shop ?

Did you bother to read my post above and click on the LINK in it???

  • HP 2509m display?

I'm thinking that a Mac Mini and a Hewlett Packard 2509m monitor would be significantly less expensive than the 27" iMac. Would the Mac Mini and the HP be a good combination?

    chrisdonaldson wrote:
I have 2 of these monitors connected to my new mac pro system osx 10.0.6.  I'm having these black flashes on only one of my monitors but I'm connected using the DVI cable. It was also doing it through the VGA only on this one monitor. I've tried different DVI and VGA cables, including the ones that work on my other monitor and tried switching the inputs on the back of my computer and doesn't fix it... I havent tried the HDMI but there I don't have an HDMI connection on the back of my computer anyways.
    any ideas?
The black flashes sound similar, however mine was constant about every 3-5 seconds.
For me the quickest way to diagnose computer problems is usually swapping out system components with known good replacements. In your case you would want to connect the offending monitor to a different system (using a known good cable), at the same resolution and displaying the same content (i.e. movie, hi-res photo,spreadsheet,etc.). If the black flashes persist that isolates the monitor or the content, if not then it points another component (cables) or your mac. Repeating the process, swapping in your components one at a time should help isolate the offending component.
My first thought was whether your system - especially the video card - is capable of rendering both monitors under full load. It should be able to, but there may be a deficiency in one of the components that only becomes apparent under stress. I had issues with the power supply on my new HP 9250 when I upgraded the video card. It worked fine until I fired up an fps at 1920 x 1200 screen resolution. After 5-10 minutes the power supply would shut down and restart the entire system. If I lowered the screen resolution, or used a smaller monitor, the power supply would keep up. Sometimes the symptoms don't readily point to the problem.
Maybe your mac dealer can offer some assistance too. Good luck, I hope you solve your issue!

  • Tecra A11 - No Video via mini DisplayPort

    Hi There,
I just recently purchased a mini DisplayPort -> HDMI cable to be used with my Tecra A11 Notebook. My intention was to run two external displays by running a VGA cable to my LG W2242 Monitor and run the mini-DP to HDMI cable to my HP 2509m Monitor. Unfortunately I cannot get my HP monitor to recognize the Video Signal from the mini DIsplayPort.
I have downloaded the newest drivers for my laptop, but still no luck. Is there anything special I need to do to get the mini DisplayPort to send a Video Signal?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Landon

The Tecra A11 I have purchased (the A11-00N) only has two external video ports; A mini DisplayPort and a VGA.
I am currently running the Tecra A11 hooked up via the VGA Port to my HP 2509m Monitor. When unplugging the VGA cable and attempting to use just the mini DisplayPort to attach a SINGLE external Monitor I still have trouble getting a signal.
@Andrej - I'm currently attempting to attach 2 external monitors while closing the lid of the built-in display. In any case this should work as the laptop would still be only running 2 displays total.
What troubles me is that the mini DisplayPort doesn't work in a single display setup. I am going to attempt using the cable with a MacBook Pro later today and hopefully it will help in pointing to the root of the problem.

  • Acrobat Pro Print Settings for digital presses

    Hi everyone,
I am a digital printer running a xerox 700 digital press with Kodak Creo Rip Software. I have had some issues printing from Acrobat pro where the colors get real dark or distorted. I am sure it is just a color profile issue but I am not sure where to look for info. Does any one have settings(color profile, color handling)  that work well for them? I feel a little like I am grasping straws to get this color right. I would call Kodak to ask them about what they recomend but they have stopped supporting thier software( by the way printers don't let Xerox talk you into using Creo. It is completely unsupported). Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

Because when you start a new thread someone inevitibly gets on you for not searching for an existing thread.
I have an HP 2509m monitor.  There is no luminance setting but according to specs it's 300 nits.  Brightness is set to 90.  I can't find anywhere that will give me the cd/m2.  I really don't think it's the monitor since my Epson R1900 does not have the same issue.  I played with the settings some more and it seems color density is the only thing that make a noticable difference.  I turned off color controls on the printer and used CS4 for color management.  Set the ICM to the right printer and paper.  That DID make a difference but not much - still very dark printout.  And I'm not talking a little darker than what's on the screen - I'm talking black where it shoud be gray.
Here's the picture I'm having trouble with.  This is reduced in quality so I could post it, but you can still see what I'm talking about.  Note the building on the very bottom.  To the right of that are some hills that are dark green and you can make out some of the detail of a road with parked cars along it.  They're dark, but you can make them out.  In the printout, pretty much everything except the building is black.

Can you see the green hills on your monitor?
I thought it might be the paper so I tried it with glossy instead of semigloss.  Same result.

  • Print settings for Epson 4880 Stylus Pro - confusing

Am running LR 1.3 on a PC, Dual-Core, etc.etc. Last week I installed 1.3 and my new Epson 4880 Stylus Pro. Previously, with 1.2 I had been printing with an Epson Stylus 2200 and had no problems.
The 4880 driver, which is the latest and only driver at this point, brings up print options that I find confusing. It may be just a matter of terminology, but when I use the settthe ings that I think are identical to Photoshop CS3 handling of printing, the image is way too dark. P'shop CS3 prints beautifully with the 4880, exactly what I see on my calibrated monitor.
I want to let the Adobe engine handle the printing in LR, yet when I set the 4880 print setting to "No Color Adjustment" and show the proper 4880 profile in the LR settings, the resulting print is too dark. When I set it to "ICM Advanced" and enter the monitor profile, the printer profile, and the Rendering Intent, everything prints beautifully. I thought these settings, the "ICM Advanced", handed everything off to the printer, which I don't want. Am I just confused about which settings lets the Adobe engine do things? I've read Evening's LR book and anything else I can find about the Print Module, but the 4880 driver is different enough from the 2200 to create confusion. Also, the PC and Mac drivers have some different options.
I think the 4880 driver is very similar to the 4800, so if any user can help, I'd appreciate your advice.

Monitor screen began flickering for a few days. Now the screen is black. What's the problem?

    jsw01,
Does the power light still come on and/or change color??? If so, please shine a flashlight at the front on the screen at various angles and look a faint image on the screen. If you see an image that corresponds to what your computer is actively doing, your backlight inverter and/or lamps have gone bad.

  • HP 2509b Monitor starts out and goes black.

    OP  Windows 7  64-bit
My HP 2509b monitor flickered on and off ... I restarted my machine ... the monitor came on, then slowly went black.   It does this on my husbands computer also.  The spare monitor I have hooked up works great ... but it's not my HP 2509b.  I have owned it a little under a year.

    bperigo,
This is a very well documented issue of this monitor. Searching the forum yields at least 80 threads containing "2509m".
Please shine a flashlight at the front on the screen at various angles and look a faint image on the screen. If you see an image that corresponds to the output of your computer, your backlight inverter and/or lamps have gone bad.
Concerning the menu options, again shine a flash light at the screen and look for the menu image. If the backlight inverter and/or backlight lamps have gone bad, you will see no image without an external light source because the monitor isn't producing it's own light as it should.

  • 2509m went dark

8 month old hp 2509m abruptly went dark. For the few seconds the screen can be seen, it is darker on top than on the bottom. If you look closely things can be seen on the screen but are very dark. What is odd that turning on and off the monitor seems to cause a normal display for a second or two before the light shuts off. When starting pc, screen comes on then shuts off. comes on again and shuts off. When turning on and off after start up the montior screen shows as normal then shuts off after a second. Hooking up monitor to another pc or laptop has same results. Unplug cable, message shows to check cable. If plugged in when PC powers down, will receive a monitor going to sleep message. Using Windows Vista and a vga cable. Have also replaced cable with a new one.
    Any ideas?

Try a monitor reset.  Power off PC and monitor. Unplug the monitor and then hold down the monitor's power button for 30-60 seconds. The plug everything back in and give it a go.  There is also a factory reset function under the monitor's menu that you can try. If this doesn't fix the issue then contact HP support as the monitor has a 1 year warranty and ask for a replacement.
