HP 2711x gets no HDMI signal, always asleep

I signed up to this site because I've been having computer troubles. I use an HP 2711x monitor with an HDMI video cable attached to my computer. A while ago, I ran into a problem where, when my computer and monitor go to sleep, the computer wakes up when I move my mouse, but the monitor doesn't detect its signal. If I reset the computer with the power button, the monitor would display the startup and work fine.
Last weekend, I ran into the problem again as usual, but this time, the monitor never wakes up. If I restart the monitor, it displays that it is receiving no signal from DVI, VGA, or HDMI. No matter how many times I turn the computer off and back on, the monitor doesn't react. I've tried unplugging/replugging the video cable and the power cord on both ends of each. I've tried powering down everything and letting it sit. I can't seem to get this monitor to display anything besides "Monitor Going to Sleep."
My first question is, is this a problem with my monitor or my computer's video card? Second, what can I do to fix it? I can't think of anything I did that may have triggered this problem. I can't disable sleeping, obviously, because I can't access my computer. It sounds like the computer itself is running fine, it's the fact that my monitor is not displaying anything that's the problem.
Thanks

Hi,
Try a monitor reset.  Unplug the monitor from the PC and the electrical source.  Now hold down the power button for 60 seconds. Now plug everything back in and give it a go.
Try the monitor and cable on another PC to make sure that those components are good.
The receiving no video signal generally means that the monitor has scanned the video input ports and found no video signal present.
Only feed the monitor with one video cable until the issue is solved.
If the monitor and cable check out good on another PC then the issue is in your PC.
If the issue is in your PC then you might need a new video card, video card driver update or a PC bios update.  There may be other causes but I have listed those that appear to be the most frequent causes of no video signal.

  • How to get the hdmi signal?

I just but a macbook pro on july 2011
I also purchased a moshi adapter and a dyvex hdmi cable, i must say it is meant for PS3.
When i first tried to get the signal, i had to plug/unplug a couple of time.
But then it worked out great.
After, I tried to get the signal with another tv. an Aquos from Sharp
It worked perfectly. Now there's the problem... I am trying to getting it a second time
There is no way to get the signal....
Could tip me on how may i try to force the signal or what kind of cable i need to get to make it work perfectly everytime.
    thank you

You've got a television issue, not a Uverse issue.
You TV remote should have an "input" Or 'Setup' button or option.  Find it and change it back to HDMI.

  • GTX 760 No HDMI Signal to Monitor

So the other day I was playing Arma 3 and all of a sudden I noticed my frames started to drop about 4fps every 5 secs until it was 2 fps where the game then crashed and a windows message popped up saying my graphics driver crashed I then proceeded to restart my PC and it could no longer get a HDMI signal. I recently just built this last sunday. 28/12/14. Whenever I boot it up now the fans turn on including GPU ones but the motherboard shows the debug codes D6 and 92.
Specs: Motherboard: MSI Gaming 5 Z97 LG1150, CPU: i7-4790k, GPU: GTX 760 Twin Frozr 2GB VRAM, RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2x8GB) 1866MHZ, Storage: 2TB Seagate 7200RPM and a 120GB Kingston SSD- OS on this!, OS: Windows 8.1 Enterprise, Monitor: Asus NV247 PSU: Cooler Master B700 700w
Any suggestions on what to do?

    Hi,
Did you try to reset CMOS? >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Also did you have a chance to watch the temps of the GPU? There is slight possibility it was badly made or screws not properly screwed in and heatsink didn't make enough contact so GPU burnt itself.
    What about different video ports?
Did you consider running the system out of the case on non conductive surface (e.g. wooden table or motherboard box) with single RAM stick?
Does your system POST and work normally if you take the GPU out?
Also try your graphics card in different computer if possible. Else speak to a friend or local IT services (or shop you got it from) and ask for testing in their system.

  • I just got my cable company to switch my wireless router to a wired one considering now I have the wireless airport device (the newest one) but now I can't get a wireless signal. The router works when directlyplugged in,the aiport wireless device is green

I just got my cable company to switch my wireless router to a wired one considering now I have the wireless airport device (the newest one) but now I can't get a wireless signal. The router works when directlyplugged in,the aiport wireless device is green. I've tried going through my new MacBook Pro settings and it the diagnostics check, it says network changes detected, I tell it that it "yes" does connect to a cable modem, it tells me to restart it, after I do it asks if there are any other devices hooked up ( firewall) and when I say no it tells me that it can't fix the problem.
Now I know that I probably have a new IP address because of the cable company switching the boxes but it was working fine with the other box, now there isn't a signal to be had on it!
Please anybody out there that can help!!!??

Any time you change networking hardware it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle with the new equipment. Check out the following AirPort User Tip. Please post back your results.

  • Z97M GAMING no hdmi signal with DVI converter

My monitor has VGA/DVI only (Samsung SyncMaster 213T), I have a HDMI to DVI converter in the DVI port, this works with the HDMI out from my laptop.
Am putting together a Z97M/4790K rig. I get no signal at the monitor from the Z97M's HDMI out, if I connect it to a TV I do get a signal.
Am using the same (short) HDMI cable and adaptor with both the laptop and the new Z79M, used the same cable to connect the Z79M to the TV.
So the cable and converter are good (they work with the laptop) and the Z79M HDMI port and cable are good with the TV.
Anyone have any idea why the Z97M HDMI output wont display on my monitor? (Any bios settings to make the HDMI signal more compatable?)

Yes, to be clear, there is no GPU. When I say the Z97M's HDMI out I mean the output from the Z97M motherboard. I have tried it with a second screen, the TV (it worked).
Logically one of two things must be happening... either the Z97M's HDMI signal isn't making it through the DVI/HDMI adaptor (when the laptop's signal is), or the monitor cannot process the Z97M's HDMI signal (when it can process the laptop's).
HDMI and DVI signals are the same, so the adaptor is just a plug converter ('square plug in round hole') and unlikely to be the issue, especially as it works with the laptop.
But both the monitor and laptop (which work together with HDMI and the DVI converter) are >5 years old. The Z97M is very new and could be it's HDMI output just isn't compatable in some way with the (relatively) old monitor.
Hence am wondering (for example) if there are any Z97M bios settings which might make it talk nicely to the old monitor.
Be interested to hear if anyone has had issues (or even success!) using the HDMI out with DVI monitors, especially old Samsung SyncMasters ?

  • Apple TV starts, and then TV loses HDMI signal

I moved my ATV 2 from a newer 1080 HDTV to an older 720 tv, and now the ATV starts and displays apple logo and after 30-45 secs I get a message on the tv that the hdmi signal is not detected.
I suspect that the ATV is sending a 1080 signal that the tv can't use, is there a way to reset resolution or to defaults via remote?
    Is it something else?

I ended up reconnecting the ATV2 to the original TV and had to change the resolution to 480. I was then able to see the main screen, and change the res to 720p 60mhz.
It is odd though, the ATV was set to Auto for screen, and displayed during startup, but was unable to display main screen.

  • No HDMI signal from apple tv

I recently purchased an ATV (in the USA - I live in Europe) and I notice that ATV doesn't seem to 'connect' to my TV, ie. the tv consistently shows 'no HDMI signal', or will sometimes show part of the relevant ATV menu screen momentarily and then disappear. The remedy is to reboot ATV or disconnect and reconnect the power cable. Does anyone have a remedy for this?

I have the same issue. My Apple TV works when I reboot (unplug/replug) it. But if I attempt to change the resolution, put it on standby, or if I switch to another device and return to it later, I get an intermittent signal. Every few 4-5 seconds the menu/screensaver appears and disappears pretty quickly. If I reboot and watch a movie immediately it works fine.
My TV is a Olevia 542i LCD HDTV.

Anyone have any ideas? Could the AppleTV be defective?

I have an 802.11n base and extender and still cannot get a good signal 80-90 ft away . Why?

Hardwire is always recommended because there is virtually no signal loss in a wire....at least up to 300 feet or so.
Another advantage of using Ethernet cable...if you can...is that you can locate the AirPort Express where it is most needed.
If it extends using wireless only, it pretty much needs to be located about half the distance from the main router and the general area that needs more coverage.
I like to use WiFi Explorer since it displays SNR (Signal to Noise) readings, which are the best way to evaluate signal quality.
Mac App Store - WiFi Explorer
If the signal is varying constantly, something is causing it to do so....assuming that the AirPorts are functioning correctly.
Cordless phones are a huge problem for wireless networks.  You want to try to figure out if the phones are causing a problem as a first troubleshooting step.
That is why I suggested that you turn off the phones for an hour or two and watch the network to see how it behaves.  If the signal stops fluctuating....that is a good clue that the phones are interfering with the wireless signal.

  • Want to get a recordable signal

I recently purchase an M-audio fastrack pro audio interface and attempted to configure it into audition , but i have yet to
get a recordable signal . could you walk me through the steps in trying to get a signal.
I wanted to know if it was possible to record into the Adobe Audition 3 software in 16 bit quality vs. the standard amount available
    now?
Will Adobe Audition 3.0 recogninze my interface ( int he device properties tab), to do some work in edit and multitrackview, if say
my interface is a protools digi 002?

To get your M-Audio Fastrack to record in Audition you need to configure it in Edit/Audio Hardware Setup menu. When it opens in the Edit View page you should be able to select M-Audio USB ASIO from the drop down list in the Audio Driver slot. Having selected that if you click on Control Panel the M-Audio panel will open where you can select your inputs and outputs and Sample Depth 16 or 24. The Control Panel should show connected at the top right if your USB Fastract is working. Close the Fastrack Control Panel and then you can check at the bottom of the Audio Hardware Setup panel which input and outputs Audition will use (01S is channel 1 stereo or  01M is mono). You will then have to select the Multitrack View to set up the M-Audio for multitrack use as well. Click on Apply then OK to close Setup and return to Audition.
When you select New file in Audition you can select the sample rate you want to record at and the bit depth, 16 or 32. There is not much point in recording 16 bit as Audition works at 32 internally and it is better to keep your files at 32 bit to retain quality until you have finished processing them. You can then always save them out as 16 bit when you need them as such.
I am afraid you won't have much luck with using a Digi 002 as a source for Auditon although it can sometimes be made to work with some difficulty. Digidesign have so set up the 002 drivers to only really be compatible with ProTools.

    What am I missing?

What model is your HDTV? Connected using HDMI? Have you ensured you are on the correct input on your TV? Tried a different cable and port?

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • When trying to work with Agilent 34401A multimeter (serial RS-232 connection), HP34401A Getting Started.vi gives always the message: "Error 1073807369 occurred at Old VISA Open ".

Baud rate and parity are set correctly, RS-232 cable is also connected correctly. My QuickBasic program has no problems to read and write to the Multimeter. It is obviously a software problem: the same error is persistent if I disconnect RS-232 cable.
I downloaded NI-VISA 2.6 for Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP frorm digital.ni.com and installed it. But it did not help.
    Thank you in advance

  • How do I get a video signal to an external monitor via the mini-display port on my Mac Book Air?

I can't get a video signal out through my mini-display port on my Mac Book Air (version 1).  Thus I can't feed BBC iPlayer to an external monitor.  There is some connectivity - the MAC wallpaper is broadcast, the mouse pointer is visible and sound is transferred.  Is it likely to be a cable connection problem (though the cable works with a Windows operating laptop)?

First, what you said is contradictory. You say "can't get a video signal", then say"the Mac wallpaper is broadcast, the mouse pointer is visible". "No video signal" means an absolutely black, blank screen. It sounds like you have plenty of signal.
I am supposing what you are seeing is actually a blank desktop, which is to be expected if your settings are such that you are extending the desktop, instead of mirroring it.
Within the preference panes is a setting that allows you to change this. Open System Preferences, click Displays, and then click Arrangement. You will see that you are extending the desktop. Change that setting.

  • Where can i get an hdmi driver so i can get sound in my tv when connected to my hp pavilion dv6

where can i get an hdmi driver so i can get sound in my tv when connected to my hp pavilion dv6

    Hi,
HDMI sound is actually comes with the video card. DV6 is a reries of dozens if not hundreds of models, which one is yours ? Please use the following steps to check and fix:
General Instructions for Setting Up HDMI Audio
    Preliminary steps:
    1. Plug the laptop into a power source. Some of the models have a power management scheme that will not allow for HDMI audio while running on batteries. Later, after you get your HDMI audio working, if you find that it still does not work on batteries you can change your power management settings in the Control Panel.
    2. HDMI has its own audio driver separate from the audio system of the computer ( Sigmatel, IDT, or Realtek ) . It is incorporated into the graphics card's driver so make sure you have the newest version of your graphics card driver. On models with Intel graphics the HDMI audio driver will appear in the Device Manager as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus".
    3. Turn off the computer and TV before connecting the HDMI cable. Later, after you get your HDMI audio working, if you disconnect the cable while the computer is running and lose your audio, try closing and then re-opening whichever program you were using that generates audio.
    4. Every time you try a different solution you should reboot the computer. HDMI audio is extremely finicky and seems to usually need a reboot.
    Make the Connection:
    1. Connect the HDMI cable to the computer and TV. If the TV has a "DVI/HDMI" port do not use it. Use a port for HDMI only.
    2. Turn on the TV and select the HDMI port you are using. Adjust the TV settings to receive HDMI audio if any.
    3. Turn on the computer. (Optional, some people close the laptop lid immediately after hitting the power button but I am not sure why. Most people should not need to do this.)
    4. Optional. Some models do better if the TV is set to be the primary display. To set, repeatedly press Fn+F8 (or ctrl+alt+F4) to cycle through the settings (laptop display only/laptop display plus external display/external display only). Reboot the laptop.
    5. Go to Start>Control Panel>Sound>Playback tab. Make "HDMI" the default device. (If "HDMI" is not there, right click in the white area and look under "Show Disconnected Devices" or "Show Disabled Devices" and see if it is there.)
    Post Connection Problems:
    1. If there is still no option to select "HDMI' as the default audio playback device, try re-installing or updating the graphics driver, or even try an older version. The graphics driver is the driver for HDMI audio, not the regular audio driver. A few people with Intel graphics had better results by uninstalling the graphics driver, rebooting, and letting Windows look for a driver (instead of downloading the driver from the Dell support site).
    2. Try disconnecting and then reconnecting the HDMI cable.
    3. If you are using Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center but get no HDMI audio even after it is selected as the default playback device, go to
Control Panel>Sound>Playback tab>Audio/Playback device>HDMI>properties>Advance>Exclusive Mode and uncheck "exclusive mode".
    4. Try a different HDMI cable.
    5. Try a different HDMI port on the TV.
