HP 2840 3n1 will not work with Lepard
This my first post, I joined this group after searching google for help. I had a Mac Support Co. Install Leopard. They had problems from the get go Getting my HP 2840 3n1 printer to work. Installed new HP drivers no help. It would print, but no HP director. I would have to go into Word or Photoshop to scan. Soon as they left it quit printing. They came back out and it worked for a while but started having problems using the copier or getting it to print envelopes. Called apple support and after five hours on the phone with them, printer will not print, scan, fax, copy....nothing.
Has anyone been able to get this model to work? I have asked them tomorrow to install Tiger till I can afford a new printer. This one cost $900. and I just ordered $500 worth of ink refills. I have to have this for my work and I don't know what else to do.
Sorry to inform you, but HP has not updated it's driver for the 2840. It has only been 5-months. The good news is that it only took them 7-months to update their drivers after I upgraded from Panther to Tiger.
I have finally learned my lesson, and will NEVER buy another HP product again. I hope all other Mac users do the same. The company's customer support is absolutely pathetic.
HP indicated that the 2840 was "Leopard Ready" in one of their advertisements, so I upgraded. What they failed to mention, was that "Leopard Ready" meant that only one of the printers 3-multi functions were usable, namely only printing.
Calling HP Tech Support is a useless endeavor. All they can tell you is that they are working on an update. They cannot tell you when the driver is going to be released. It could be today, or next year. I told them that I use the 2840 for as my main business printer/scanner and needed to know if I needed to buy another printer if it was going to be several more months. They simply told me that they had no idea when an updated driver would be available and to "just keep checking the website", which I have been doing daily for the past 5-months.
I hope you remember HP's lack of Customer Support when it is time to purchase another printer. I know I will.

I have a Macbook and iPhone and like to back up to iCloud. However, my work computer runs Outlook 2003, which I know will not work with the iCloud. The company has no plans to update anytime soon. Since the calendar and contact list on my office computer are my primay ones, I hard sync through iTunes. The problem is that any data synced from Outlook 2003 to the iPhone from iTunes does NOT later backup to iCloud. Is there a solution?
I have the same problem with Outlook 2003 and Win XP which the multinational organisation I work for standardises on and will probably stay with forever!

I had a repair done on my MacBook Pro and had to have a new hard drive installed. The Apple Auth Repair Shop then updated the OS from 10.6.8 to 10.7.5. Now my iPhoto v 9.2.3 will not open and it sounds like it will not work with this OS. Can you please advise?
You may need many other updates to retain compatibility with Lion. I suggest you reinstall Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, you will need to erase the drive first. Be sure to backup your data if you haven't done so already.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X. You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
installation current.

I bought the Keynote app for my MacBook, but when I open the application and try to install it, I get an error message saying that the application will not work with my MacBook. What gives? And, can I please request a refund? ($19.99 = a week's groceries).

Uninstall Keynote; this must be done with an application remover tool to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download

shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the hard drive is being repaired

Just downloaded Firefox 4. It replaced the older version on my mac but will not work with my current version of OSX.

HDX 9010nr, Radeon 2600 will not work with WIndows 7
Apparently, HP is not going to support the HDX 9010nr for Windows 7. That's the bad news, the good news is that it "mostly" works.
The only big issue is that the display driver stops every few minutes and then restarts. So you sit there for thirty seconds while the machine recovers. But, it doesn’t support a second screen; and worse, every 10th time the video driver crashes; it locks up the whole machine.
ATI has a version of the Radeon 2600 software that worked with the Release Candidate (RC) of Windows 7, but it will not work with the shipped version of Windows 7. ATI recommends that you get a version from your hardware vendor. Which brings me back to the first sentence. HP isn't supporting the 9010nr.
The question is do any of the "supported" HP laptops have the ATI Radeon 2600? If so, might that work on the HDX 9010nr?

Photoshop CS2 will not work with RAW images in the Minolta DimAge A2. It use to work fine
I have used Photoshop CS 2 with my DimAge A2 for over 5 years in the RAW format. Now it will not work with RAW with my camera. I am using Vista 64.Any answers ? Thanks
It would seem to me that you have probably had to reinstall Photoshop CS 2. If that is the case, then you should download and install Camera Raw 3.7. The version that was on your install disk was updated several times. And one of those updates probably included support for your camera. Install ACR 3.7 and see if that helps.

2nd generation ipod touch is pretty much no good anymore? It is not able to upgrade to iOS5.1 and so will not work with many Apps in the iTunes store? Is there a way to find out if the App will work before you download?
Look to the app developer to provide that information when browsing the iTunes Store.
The iPod Touch still works, so what's your problem with it? It still works with older apps, it still does what it's intended to do.
If you aren't happy then sell it and buy a new one. -
I just downloaded Firefox 5 and it said that my Yahoo toolbar will not work with it. Is this true? If so I will not use this new version and will switch to another browser if Firefox stops supporting the Yahoo toolbar. Thank you.
Add-ons contain a range of compatible Firefox versions, and Firefox honors the listed range by disabling the add-on if you are trying to run it on an unlisted version.
I'm sure Yahoo! will update its toolbar eventually, but not every add-on maker supports beta versions of software. -

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Product key will not work with this edition of Windows 7
I received a product key for Windows 7 Professional N whilst I was at University via Dreamspark. I'm building a new computer and when it's come to inputting the product key, it comes up saying Product key will not work with this edition of Windows 7.
The version I installed was Windows 7 Professional using an iso and a USB. I rang the phone activation number and when I got through to a representative, I gave him the product key and he said it is valid and should be working. He transferred me to technical
services but instead I got cut off.
At this point I'm really not sure what the issue is, the key was for Windows 7 Professional N, I installed Windows 7 Professional and customer support confirmed it as a valid key. The updating process doesn't work. Nothing happens.
