HP 316C printer not working with Imac

Hi Everyone,
Can you help us with the following problem.
A friend of mine bought an Imac together with Mac OS Tiger Dutch latest version.
He formerly used a Windows based computer with an HP 316C Deskjet printer. Now he wants to connect this printer to his new Imac.
I searched the whole HP website for the Macintosh drivers but I found none despite the fact there where Vista drivers for this model.
Can you tell us how we can install this printer on this Imac?
I thank you very much in advance for your efforts and time spend on our problem.
Have a nice day.
Friendly greetings,
Chris

Bad_Wolf,
Mac OS X already has drivers included in the operating system (assuming that you have not done a custom setup and did not select printer drivers) you can setup your printer as easy as 1-2-3!
Alright now lets get started!
First I strongly recommend that you verify that you have any available updates installed. You can do this by clicking on the apple menu, which is located on the very far left hand side of the finder bar. In the Apple menu click software update. If no updates are found install them, if not then lets continue with resolving your issue.
Once verified that all updates are installed, ensure that your printer is connected via USB and turned on then locate the printer setup utility. It is located in the utilities folder. (Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities) Once located open the application and a new window will open with the heading "Printer List" in that window click add. Mac OS X will automatically at this point search for and install the printer and the necessary driver.
Hope this helps!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please don't hesitate to let me know!

  • HP B500 Wireless Bluethooth Adapter for HP Printer Not Working With Windows 8.1

I have been using the HP BT500 bluetooth Wireless adapter to print wirelessly to my HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer.  I have been using Windows Vista, but recently upgraded to Windows 8.1.  I learned after the upgrade that the HP B500 wireless bluetooth adapter is not compatable with Windows 8.1.  I have attempted to find a driver upgrade for the B500, but there does not appear to be one available.  I have also searched the HP site and other sites in an attempt to locate an alter wireless blotth adapter to replace the B500, but have again been unable to locate one.
Is there a wireless bluetooth apter that will allow me to print wirelessly to my HP Office Pro 8500 from my laptop?

    Hi @Raider83,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP B500 wireless bluetooth adapter for your HP Officejet 8500 is not working with Windows 8.1. I am sorry to hear this but happy to look into this for you!
I am not sure if you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit Operating System. But sometimes with Windows 8.1 you can use compatibility mode to install an older version of the driver. Which might help the situation. Here is a link to some other Windows drivers, HP bt500 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter Drivers.
Once you got a driver downloaded, follow this guide, Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows, on how to install it using compatibility mode.  It is not guaranteed to work, but it is worth a try!
If you still need me to look for other bluetooth adapters, please respond with your printer's Product/Model Number. To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number. As there are multiple HP Officejet 8500 printers.

I cannot get my Epson printer to work with my iMac , It just keeps saying it cannot find printer.
All the other settings are correct , its just the server that fails. I have downloaded printer files ,

  • Polarioid pogo printer not working with ipad and iphone

And I can not believe how that truly *****... I am traveling through the states and bought the pogo to print on the road... Only to find out that it does not work with ipad and does not work with iphone... Unless I jailbreak my phone which I don't really want to do...
Apple wants us to go mobile and clouding and all those things, yet, when we do go mobile and try a mobile life style, we are encountering so much technical crap that we loose the will to live...
I could have spend the hundred dollar for the pogo to have pics printed out in every kiosk in the country...
WWhen is Apple going to come to its senses about little life savers like the pogo and bluetooth???????
Is anyone aware of a work around so I can print on the go? And a solution that does not involve a programmers brain because my single braincell is not working while traveling... It needs to be easy!

To cut through all the rage and anger and "knowing" who wanted what, the Pogo has been out for a year or so, well before Mr. Jobs' passing, and Apple did not make any mention of supporting printing on anything other than Airprint compatible printers.
Since Airprint is a Wi-Fi/ethernet thing, Polaroid would have to make a significant redesign to the Pogo.  Considering that the first iPhones only supported Bluetooth headsets and Apple didn't provide any indications about increasing Bluetooth support, Polaroid's decision for the Pogo to be Bluetooth was obviously not with iOS devices in mind.  This is why initially Polaroid had links on the FAQ to tell Apple to add Bluetooth printing support (so that in effect, asking Apple to pay for the expenses to make the iPhone compatible with the Pogo, rather than Polaroid paying to make the Pogo compatible with iOS.)
I come from a photograpic background.  I got the Pogo as soon as it came out.  I quite literally was on Polaroid's website every day checking to see when I could order it.  Having "instant" sticker prints is wonderful at family picnics with all the kids.  While it would be great to be able to get Pogo prints from anyone's iPhone, I stopped holding my breath when Apple announced Airprint, which came well after the Pogo was released.  So I took that as the sign that it was probably never going to happen.  (I knew that the Pogo wasn't iOS compatible when I bought it so not having compatiblity is not a deal-breaker for me.  But, yes, it would be nice.)
I now use a Polaroid Z340 since it's a 14 megapixel camera that prints larger 3x4 Zink prints.  Polaroid makes the GL10, which is basically a Pogo using the same printer as the Z340.  But it's still Bluetooth only.   So while I sympathize with the desire to have a really compact portable printer like the Pogo, iOS compatibility just does not seem to be on the horizon.  IMHO, it would be more realistic that Polaroid create an app to do Bluetooth printing.  But considering Polaroid's financial issues, I'm not holding my breath

  • Lexmark P6250 scanner not working with iMac after recent software update, any ideas?

The scanner has always worked with the iMac but after a recent software update only the printer works now.  I have searched the apple communities boards and have downloaded a variety of drivers suggested but nothing has solved the issue.
When I load print and scan from system preferences, I select to open the scanner and the process just hangs.   I can see the scanner and am able to select to open but not able to scan.
Any ideas on how to resolve?

Unfortunately I have tried this and I have downloaded new drivers and restarted both the iMac and printer/scanner numerous times but I still only have the printer working.
I have tried to use preview via system preferences, print and scan and the when I select open scanner for preview the application hangs.  I have also tried to use image capture and there is an error when selecting the scanner device of "Lexmark Language Error".  When selecting overview within image capture I am advised that the size tryng to be scanned is too large when nothing has been selected and the default setting are standard size and then image capture hangs.
All features were working fine prior to conducting a software update about 8-10 weeks ago.  I have downloaded further software updates which I had hoped would sort this issue but it hasn't.

  • Ricoh Aficio 2018 printer not working with 10.9.1.

Hi All. Please help. I am unable to get Ricoh Aficio 2018 printer to work. I am running 10.9.1.
I have got it working once by downloading the foomatic, ghostscript and pxl drivers, but we moved and I had to dismantle everything and now it won't work.  Last time we had a modem/router that the blue cable from the Ricoh was connected to, but this time we have a USB modem so the blue cable is connected straight into the iMac.
I have printed a config page from the Ricoh and see that DHCP is on, and it gives me the IP address, but when I go into system prefences in the iMac and try to add a printer with this IP address, it just doesn't work like last time.  I choose LPD as the protocol and search for the Rich Aficio 2018PXL option for the use, but still not working.
any ideas would be massively appreciated.
    thanks

I made those changes but strange thing is that the facsimile button lit up as red and I don't even use the fax function on this multifunction machine.
When this occurs with our Canon's it is due to the document feeder being unavailable for some reason, such as some other machine function is using the feeder. Other than that I'm not sure why this would occur.
    Shrunken wrote:
I thought I would check with you about what I should set the 'delivery options' to.  If you choose on then there are 2 tabs - server 1 which is current 10.0.0.2 and server 2 which is 0.0.0.0.  should this be set to on?
Not really sure what this "delivery options" setting is for. Normally when I see that menu it is for what happens with the document after it is delivered.
That first server address sounds like a local router address. Maybe a left over from the previous network configuration? If I knew more about what this setting was meant to achieve then I may be able to answer better. I will see if I can find information from Ricoh.
    Shrunken wrote:
Also I checked in the 'about outlook' and the incoming server was different to what I had emailed to you.  so I changed it to what was in outlook.  I hope that is right?
Yes. It would be the correct approach to use the same settings in the copier as you have set in a working email client.
    Shrunken wrote:
Also, under scanner features/destination list settings there are two options:
    - destination list priority where you can choose either email or delivery server.  which should I choose here?
    - update server destination list.  when I choose this one, it tells me that it has failed.
I would think that you want email, as you are attempting to connect directly with the email server.
And I'm not sure what the update destination list is mean to do. You may have to contact Ricoh for help on this.
Just one more thing to note. Because you are connecting the Ricoh directly to the Mac via Ethernet cable, you will have to enable Internet Sharing on the Mac so the Ricoh can connect to the Internet and thus Bigpond. This setting is located in System Preferences > Sharing and you will need to set "Share your connection from:" to the USB modem and the "To computers using" to Ethernet.

  • Suggestions for all in one wireless printer to work with iMac

I am looking for a new all in one that will work with my iMac & Airport

About a month ago I got an HP Photosmart Premium c410 AIO (print, copy, scan, fax). I don't remember the price, but I think it was about $200.  Wireless setup was easy and it works fine so far.  I also use it in a Wi-Fi (Airport) network with a Windows 7 PC and 2 Win 7 laptops; the HP software for Windows is _much_ more user friendly, versatile and faster than the Mac s/w IMHO.   The software for it on a 2011 27" Intel iMac running SL is more stripped down and slower to connect, but it works OK. I haven't upgraded the OS to Lion yet due to numerous complaints.
The only gripe is that like most current HP printers, it eats cartridges, even the XL ones.  The ePrint function works fine with an iPad (version 1).  Print quality is OK for my uses, i.e.,  letters, photos on plain paper and up to 8.5" X 11" good photo paper).
I also connect to a one-year old HP Photosmart c310 my daughter brought home from college for the summer - seems to be a pretty similar ePrinter, but without the fax capability.  This works as well as the c410 near as I can tell. It probably cost about $120.

  • Why does my Kodak printer not work with yosemite?

ever since upgrading to yosemite, my kodak printer will not work. i got as far as being able to download a software update but still no joy.

My kodak 5250 would not print and I tryed the termial with no luck and then i received an email from nowater and turn on Bonjuor in safair and now I am printing i did not enter the ip address of my printer
    heres the email
I decided to poke around in the Epson settings via the web interface.  To do this, just enter the printer's IP address in a browser that's on the same network (you may have to skip some HTTPS / certificate warnings).  From there I looked around until I found Wi-Fi/Network Settings / Services / Protocol.  On my system, Use Bonjour was unchecked.  I had seen in other people screenshots and videos that when the Add Printer tool works, it shows that it connects via Bonjour Multifunction, so I enabled Bonjour and saved the settings.  After waiting a few minutes for the settings to be applied, I was able to add the printer via the Add Printer Default tab (I did change the "Use" setting from "Secure AirPrint" to "Epson WF-3620 Series" option -- I think this is the Epson specific driver).
I don't know if Bonjour is disabled by default or if I turned it off somehow in the past and forgot, but it's an easy enough fix that might work for someone else so I thought I should share.

  • External Optical Drive not working with iMac

I have a memorex external drive that I have been using to install Windows 7 with boot camp and have successfully used it on 2 mac-mini's. I am not trying to install Windows 7 boot camp on an iMac that has a broken internal optical drive but the external will not run.
    I have tried:
    - Startup Utility: Can see the external in there.
    - External shows up on desktop with Windows 7
    - External shows up in disk utility
    - Windows shows up in startup menu with holding down Option.
I see iMac SSD Drive, Recovery HD Drive , Windows CD , EFI Boot cd as options.
If I select Windows it takes me to a black screen that says it doesnt see a boot CD clicking on EFI boot does nothing.
Anyone have any possible solutions into getting this to work?

Mac Minis without built-in Optical drives behave differently than iMacs with built-in drives for boot ability,
I am not trying to install Windows 7 boot camp on an iMac that has a broken internal optical drive but the external will not run.
I see iMac SSD Drive, Recovery HD Drive , Windows CD , EFI Boot cd as options.

This is confusing. If you have the external Optical Drive (Memorex) connected via USB to the iMac and insert a Windows 7+ DVD in it, the Apple Bootmanager will see OSX, Recovery HD, Windows (if already installed on the iMac's internal drive) and possibly Windows and EFI boot from the DVD.
The Windows and EFI Boot will not work if you try to boot the iMac from the external. Test this from the internal Optical drive as well. If your iMac is a UEFI Mac (2013+) it will let you boot from the DVD directly (without Bootcamp).
Bootcamp Assistant will refuse to let you use the external Optical drive, if you try use it to install Windows. BCA only works with internal Optical drives as far as Windows installation is concerned, on Macs that have a built-in optical drive. The exceptions to this rule are 2012 Macs and some 2011 models.

  • Printer Not Working with Pictures

    Hi,
I have a MacBook and whenever i try to print i face problems. I normally just plug the printer in via USB, add the printer then print. When i print a document, i cant print lucida grande or any other mac related font. When i print a picture the picture doesnt print but rather it prints out text reading
    %!PS-Adobe-3.0
    %RBINNumCopies: 1
    %%Pages: (atend)
Then something about encoding and title. It prints that then just spits out random paper until i cancel.
What can i do to make it compatible with my Mac?

Once you’re connected to a printer, you may need to set up your computer to print to it. After you do this, any application you use will be able to print to the printer.
Mac OS X automatically sets up most printers that connect to your computer using a Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable. Once you connect a USB or FireWire printer, you should be able to choose it in the Print dialog when you print a document. The same is true for printers on your local network or subnetwork that use Bonjour technology to make themselves accessible to your computer.
Other types of printers connected to your network, such as AppleTalk, Bluetooth, Open Directory, and IP printers, as well as printers shared by other Mac OS X or Windows users, may require a few easy setup steps before you can use them.
See the manual that came with your printer for specific installation and setup directions.
Choose Print & Fax Preferences from the Printer pop-up menu in the Print dialog to see if the printer is in the printer list.
If it is, make sure the In Menu checkbox next to the printer's name is selected. If the checkbox isn't selected, click it to select it. The printer should now appear in the Printer pop-up menu.
If the printer isn't in the list, then you may need to add it by clicking the Add button.
If you are connecting to a USB printer using a USB-to-parallel cable or adapter, you may need to use a USB cable. Mac OS X includes print drivers designed to work with many USB printers via a USB connection. However, Apple has not tested these drivers with USB-to-parallel cables, converters, or adapters. Contact the manufacturer of your printer, cable, or adapter for compatibility information and further assistance.
If you are using a network printer, make sure the printer is turned on and that you have a connection to the network.
If a shared printer doesn't appear in the printer list, the owner of the printer may have turned off the printer, turned off printer sharing, or shut down the computer sharing the printer. Check with the owner for help.
If you are using a Bonjour printer, make sure your computer is in the same local network or subnetwork as the printer.
If the network printer you want to use appears in the Printer List but you can't print to it, there may be a problem with the printer or your network connection. To check your network connection, double-click the printer's name in the printer list, and then choose Printer > Network Diagnostics.
You can also use Network Utility to "ping" the printer to determine if the printer is available. To do so, you need the DNS name or IP address of the printer. These may appear as the name of the printer in the Printer List. If you don't see this information in the Printer List, ask your network administrator for the DNS name or IP address.
If there is a problem with the printer, you may see a message such as "Host is down" when you "ping" the printer in Network Utility. For more information about using Network Utility, see Network Utility Help, available in the Help menu when Network Utility is open.
