Which function may be disabled in Windows network?

Hi @ck80 ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

  • Which MSXP Services does FF Need? When Disabling Services; extentions, addons, themes stopped working

    I disabled some Service in MS Windows XP Home SP3 cause my Internet only lagged in Windows.. So i unchecked everything i didnt need or use.. Windows works wonderfull, runs even faster than before.. Only my extentions, Add-Ons, Plugins and Themes stopped working except for one.. The spelling-checker.
    So, my question is which Windows Service Process prob. disabled this when i shut down the services.. (By asking this i want an answer so i only need to enable 1-2 processes and not the dumb-ass answers where you advice to turn everything on again)
    PS.
    Troubleshooting Information included but i didnt find any complaints there

    Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
    and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
    Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • Information on enabled services and which ones I can safely disable

    Where is a good source of infomation for all of the enabled services (what they do, etc) and which ones I can safely disable. i.e. seaport.

    Opt back in and then immediately back out (yes I know this sounds daft)
    Leave you hub on 24/7 and it should deactivate as said with in 48 hours.
    Don't reset the hub after doing this, as it always puts BTWifi back on!
    fwiw, you should see this on the hub event log as the hub gets the btwifi disabled update

  • Which photo printing service to use?

    I am relatively new in Apple over from Windows and want to start installing photos from Canon camera using a card reader.I like to do a light editing /correcting/ before I send the photos to a printing service.I have not done this before,therefore I need some advise as which service would be the best to use?Can I send the photos through the Internet and get them back in the regular US Mail printed?I would probably want nothing larger than 6x4 prints.
    Thanks for all advise

    That is totally a personal choice - I sometimes use CostCo - The Apple printing service is the easiest to use and has good quality
    I've pretty much stopped doing prints and do iPhoto books instead

  • Java Print Service API in Java Stored Procedure (Linux)

    Hi
    We are running an Oracle 10g database on Linux and I am in the proces of developing a java stored procedure which should utilize the Java Print Service API.
    I have made a simple stored procedure to list all available printers and the DocFlavors they support (se the code below).
    My problem is that no printers are listed. I have made a standalone java app. with the same code and executed it directly on the OS level of the Linux box through the Sun JDK 1.4.2 and here I get two printers.
    Is there any specific configuration I need to do to make it work?
    I am wondering if I need to grant specific authorisations through dbms_java for it to work...?
    Any help is greatlyh appreciated.

    Found this on Oracle support:
    Cannot List Available Printers From The Database Using A Java Stored Procedure [ID 372694.1]
    Applies to:
    Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition - Version: 10.1.0.4.0
    This problem can occur on any platform.
    Symptoms
    Able to list available printers on a machine when running Java code outside the Database.
    When running the same Java code inside the Database as a Java Stored Procedure, no printers are found.
    Cause
    Due to security restrictions, this is expected results.
    The Java Docs state:
    "Services which are registered by registerService(PrintService) will not be included in lookup
    results if a security manager is installed and its CheckPrintJobAccess() method denies access."
    Also from the documentation it states:
    "A PrintServiceLookup implementor is recommended to check for the SecurityManager.checkPrintJobAccess() to deny access to untrusted code. Following this recommended policy means that untrusted code may not be able to locate any print services. Downloaded applets are the most common example of untrusted code."
    Using the checkPrintJobAccess(); call, it does produce a Security Exception when run inside the Database but not when run outside. The exception can be viewed within the log file found in the UDUMP directory.
    Solution
    Run the following code to confirm obtaining available __printers can not be done...__
    This is the code to create the Java Stored Procedure
    CREATE OR REPLACE AND RESOLVE JAVA SOURCE NAMED "ListPrinters" AS
    import javax.print.*;
    public class ListPrinters {
    public static String AvailablePrinters(){
    String strList;
    PrintService[] pservices =PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(null,null);
    if (pservices.length > 0 )
    strList = pservices[0].getName();
    else
    strList = "No printers found";
    return strList;
    public static String listprinters() throws Exception {
    String listofprinters;
    try {
    SecurityManager sm = System.getSecurityManager();
    if (sm != null) sm.checkPrintJobAccess();
    catch (SecurityException ex) {
    System.err.println("Sorry. Printing is not allowed.");
    listofprinters = AvailablePrinters();
    return listofprinters;
    This is the PL/SQL Wrapper
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION Get_Printer_Test RETURN VARCHAR2 IS

    NAME 'ListPrinters.listprinters() return String';
    This executes the code

    No printers found
    This is the output found in the trace file in the UDUMP directory

  • IPhoto printing service not available in Australia?

    Has anyone heard any news as to why the iPhoto printing service is not available in Australia? It's very disappointing as this was a great selling point to me, I just presumed that it may take time to set up, but still nothing...
    I can still print calenders, cards & prints off my home printer of course, but it's not the same as professional printing. It seems a shame as the software costs the same for everyone, but we have features that we can't use.
    Does anyone know why this is?
    Cheers!
    emac 1.42GHz PPP G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    No comment on why Apple has not made this service available themselves in Australia, but there are a number of other options. For the ultimate in convenience and excellent quality, you can use digitaldavinci.com.au. They have an iPhoto plugin which will let you send books, cards and calendars to them. So this is pretty much the same as the Apple service anyway, although I think - but haven't checked myself - that the price is a bit higher.
    Alternatively, I have had very good results sending a PDF of a book to myreflections.com.au. This is obviously not quite as convenient, but the quality is still very good and the price even better.
    So there are definitely printing options available from iPhoto, especially for books, not so much for prints, and at least one option I know of for calendars and cards. I haven't used the calendar or card service though, just the book printing service from both DDV and MyReflections.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to start Print Service

    I think am facing the same situation as in this old forum post:
    Error(1042006) Network error [10048]: Unable to connect
    I tried to increase the Heap size of print Server (HyS9FRPrint) in registry to Xmx - 2048 MB and Xmx 2048 MB. After this I'm not able to start the PRINT SERVICE.

    When I modify the Heap setting to Xmx1538m and Xms1024m, I'm able to start the print service.

    Could you please let me know if I have missed any thing in increasing the heap size tp 2048mb. Is there any particular steps for the same?
    Thanks,

    It is 32bit windows process so maximum you will provably get it to set the JVM to around 1.6GB which you have already found, setting it any bigger and it wont start.

  • Print Services - Reboot Printer to Print

    On our server we have an HP 2550 plugged in via USB shared via print services. We have an odd issue that I can't seem to fix. When users print to it, it moves from their local queue to the server queue but just sits there until you turn off and back on the printer. I've tried a variety of things but issue stays the same. No error messages, just waits for printer to reboot to print between jobs.
    Anyone run into this or have advice on how I might be able to fix it?

    If you used the More Printers > Canon IP (PS) option to add the printer queue, then this will use LPR/LPD protocol. With the error you are getting, you may find that the LPD service has been disabled on the copier. Note that Windows will default to Port 9100 (RAW) for its protocol, so that explains why that would work.
    You can open the Remote UI page for the iRC3220 by typing its ip address into your web browser. With the home page open, select the Additional Functions tab. You may be prompted for the iRC3200 system administrator ID and password. Enter this if you know it or contact your IT if you don't.
    When the Additional Functions options appear, select Custom Settings. On the right hand pane, under Network Settings select LPD Settings. Ensure 'Use LPD' is enabled. If it isn't, check it then OK the change. You will have to restart the machine for the service to start working.
    The other thing to check is that the imagePASS print controller option is not fitted to the iRC3200. This is a white rectangular metal box that would be hanging on the back of the copier. If you have this, you will not see all the options I mentioned above. Instead you will see the home page for the imagePASS (probably the C1). If you have the imagePASS, then you cannot use the Canon PS driver. You will need to use the PS driver for the imagePASS-C1.

  • Startup stalls at :Printing Services...

    Hello all:
    I just purchased a refurb 1.67 powerbook from Apple with system 10.2.xx installed. I had cloned my 10.3.9 old powerbook onto and external. I wanted to see if my 1.67 would boot, but it continually stalls at "loading printing services" as the "blue bar" is about 3/4 way done. TIA for your help.

    Murman:
    Thanks for posting back with the updated information.
    The fact that the 1.25 will boot from the external HDD and not the 1.67 suggests that problem may be with the 1.67 rather than the OS X 10.3.9 installation on the external HDD. I am not sure what the cause might be. The 2005 version of the 1.67 shipped with OS X 10.4, which would preclude installation of 10.3x. However, to the best of my knowledge (admittedly limited), it should boot from an external HDD running Panther, but I can't vouch for that.
    My suggestion at this point is to boot the 1.67 from the internal HDD and
    Repair Disk Permissions
    Go to (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left column and First Aid in main column.
    Click Repair Disk Permissions at bottom left.
    Let me know if that helps.
    Good luck.

  • Event ID : 372 Print Service message while printing on Windows 8

    I get meaningless error message on Windows 8 after every application print job with HP Laserjet P1606dn. The Win 8 popup error msg says "Error Printing on HP Laserjet Professional...The Printer Couldn't Print .....". The corresponding Event Manager error is:
    "Event 372, Print Service
    The document Print Document, owned by Mark, failed to print on printer HP LaserJet Professional P1606dn. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.
    Data type: RAW. Size of the spool file in bytes: 312352. Number of bytes printed: 312352. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\DELLW. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 0. The operation completed successfully."
    The print job then prints perfectly.
    Historically, my Event Viewer shows these errors in clusters. This cluster began on 8/25/2013, the same day I replaced my network router with a Frontier Netgear Model B90-755044-15 Rev 3. I assigned a new static IP address to the printer after the router replacement, and uninstalled / reinstalled the printer on each machine so they would recognize the new IP address. I also updated the printer's firmware from version datecode 20120130 to 20130703 at that time (in retrospect, I should never have updated firmware on same day as the network changes). Errors have appeared ever since. Updating the software driver version from 20100406 to 20120926 today did not fix the problem.
    The previous Event 372 cluster was limited to a single day, 2/9/2013. I don't see any obvious print-related errors on 2/9 except about ten 372s scattered through the day and two 823s preceding the 372s (823 is informational and says I changed default printer).
    A shared (USB connected to one pc) HP Photosmart printer never generates these errors.
    The same Laserjet P1606dn printer is accessed by three different Win 8 machines over wired (1 pc) and wireless (2 pcs) network connections, and all three now get the same annoying and misleading error message even though their print jobs print perfectly.
     Also, installing Full Solution driver (instead of Basic driver) did not fix it.  Disabling Kaspersky firewall did not fix it.
    Exception:  when configuration page is printed from the Control Panel > Devices and Printers printer icon > Printing preferences... > Services tab > Print information pages, then the error message does NOT appear.  Error only appears when printing from common applications (Word, etc.).

    Can an HP expert please comment on this thread, including the link given in previous post to Windows 7 Forums?
    Is anything lost by disabling bidirectional communications for my HP Laserjet P1606dn in order to eliminate spurious error messages?
    Is there a bug in the HP driver causing this error?
    Is bi-directional communications a separate communications interface which should simply be ignored and unchecked when using wired ethernet or wireless communications?

  • Apple Print Services - Do not use from UK!! Better services elsewhere!

    For all of you thinking of using Apple Print Services, think again! I wish I had read all the other posts on this before I ordered 5 prints online 1 month ago!
    My first order was despatched but never received despite it being sent to my Central London work address - where I receive packages from all over the world on a daily basis.
    After waiting over 10 days I informed Apple Print Services after spending 15 mins trying to find their email/contact details. They asked me to check my address details which I confirmed were correct. They duplicated the order and told me it was despatched.
    Over 10 days later, still nothing despatched. I contacted Apple Print Services again. I was told that should check my address again, which I did and confirmed. I was told I couldn't have the order despatched again after 2 failed attempts and that I would get my money refunded (which I'm pleased about!)
    Went onto Photobox on Friday night at 10pm and ordered the same 5 prints that I tried to order through Apple. Got into work this morning and all 5 prints are on my desk waiting for me.
    Shame I went through the hassle for a month and got nothing out of it - just a warning for those who may be thinking of using Apple Print Services! Use http://www.photobox.co.uk/ instead!
    Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    I love Photobox too, is there any way or are there any plans to integrate Photobox into iPhoto?
    I'm nearly a 'switcher'... we use macs at work and I love them... there is just one thing stopping me and that is Picasa on PCs. I can upload my photos to virtually any online photo printer.

  • IOS print to HP ePrint service with 2 SSID on same network. One works, other not.

    Hi.
    I have this situation,  and wants to know if someone have the same problem.
    First of all, sorry for my english.
    We have an infrastructre of various SSID,  and one of them is configured to public access, except our servers ( 192.168.0.0 network). The rest are private SSIDs, and access to all network traffic.
    We have some HP printers with ePrint service,  and works perfectly from any Wifi device printing to configured email on the HP ePrint service, from the private networks,  but don't works connected from Public SSID.   With a Laptop and an Android device it works perfectly, both private and public SSID.  Seems that iOS can't sync the email on public SSID, so they cant send it to hpeprint account.  The private and public SSID are on different subnetworks (192.168.3.0 and 192.168.9.0 ).
    The routing and deny/permit rules are configured on a Cisco ASA 5300 device.   The SSID stations are all Cisco Aironet.
    Problem seems incompatibility with some service / protocol on Cisco ASA and iOS software,  not in printing.  The problem is sending the email,  not printing it.
    I suspect it's on iOS side because on Laptops and Android it works fine.
    Thanks in advance,
    Francesc

    Typically this kind of thing is handled by tweaking the DHCP server to have a list of known client MAC addresses and turning off auto-allocation. Depending on your organization size, though, that might not be practical.
    The better solution, though may be to separate the networks and not try to ru them both on the same subnet. You would be better off creating a 192.168.168.x LAN and a 192.168.167.x LAN and enabling routing between them.
    Depending on your switch this maybe as simple as creating a couple of VLANs and designating each port as being in the .167 or the .168 network as appropirate.
    You then setup some device on the network as a bridge. Depending on which device you use, this could be your switch, a router you install, or even the existing router in your network.
    Clients in the .167 can still print to the .168 printers, and vice versa, by routing the print job through this bridge. If routing between the subnets is too much and you're only worried about printing you could install a print server in each network and run all print jobs through that.

  • Turn off banner within Java Print Service API

    I have web services running on JBoss 4.0.5, which is running on IBM AIX 5.
    The issue I have is anytime I try to print something through Java Print Service within web services, there is always a banner, even though banner property is set to "never" on the print queue with AIX smitty. The bad news is that property value can be overwritten by applications, or by command line options with lp or lpr commands.
    Couldn't find any way or any attribute avaiable in Print Service API to diable banner printing. Currently only default attributes are used in document printing.
    Any help would be greatly appriciated!

    Thanks for answering,
    Yes i totally agree with you. There is a per device basis. However you could think (and here i am letting my imagination fly) about categorizing devices, lets say all the digital cameras. Although it would still be per-device basis, some would have common commands like turn on, or turn off. Don't you think so?
    Now lets take a simple example, can a Java program turn off the computer where its running?
    Thanks in advance,
    FernandoDo I think all digital cameras expose an "on/off" API? No, I don't. Some may, they all may, but that's in no way a Java issue.
    Can a Java program turn off a PC? No. It can call native code to do so, but then it isn't Java doing the work. All of what you're talking about is very much platform-specific, and that's where Java is generally it's weakest

  • Apple Printing Services in Australia

    I am just wondering if Apple is going to bring the printing services to Australia at all. Is there somewhere where you can check to see if they are working on it or not?
