HP 4120 Lync Phone Network issues

Hello Lync community!
We have a 2013 deployment running HP 4120 desk phones.  I'd like to see if anyone else is having similar problems to ours.  First things first: HP Lync Edition phone is manufactured by SNOM.  While support/warranty comes from HP the packaging
materials on repaired units say SNOM.  With this fact out of the way let me tell you what we are seeing.  On initial roll-out the failure rate "out of the box" was about 5%.  The downstream port would not function - and we needed it
to connect the workstations in the offices.  The lights on the port would flash, but once you flipped the phone over and made a few calls the port would start acting up.  On some phones the port would just go dead, on others it would come in and
out - causing endless frustration.  You can typically fix the condition temporarily by unplugging and plugging back in the cable in the downstream/PC port.  Needles to say these were sent back to HP for repair.  By the end of 1st year about
another 5% of the phones had to be replaced due to the same issues.  Initially we thought that some type of electrical issue on the phone side was at play - perhaps a poorly soldered connection, a batch of bad/loose network jack - something that has to
be addressed on the manufacturing side of things.  Since then also learned that phones themselves can enter a state in which they remain powered on but claim no network availability.  The phones are all powered via PoE - so they are connected, but
somehow they claim the lack of access to a network at an Ethernet/Level 2 level.  A phone reboot fixes the problem.  This makes us thing that the issue is not in wiring, but in some low level firmware on the phone - not the WinCE 6.0 the phone is
running - but maybe something else.  Phones run the latest UC software available from Microsoft.  We have some Polycom VVX phones in identical setup - those have no issues with the network.
Anyone seen this?  Share your experience - let us know what you've done.  We have no issues with phone provisioning, dropped calls or unexpected sign-outs.  Lync farm running latest CU as well.

After writing the post above I did another experiment with the phone.
Took it apart to see if I can notice something obvious on the PCB - noting there - all is firmly attached and well soldered.  Used a magnifying glass with high magnification to verify that there are no cracks in the solder where RJ-45 jack attaches
the to the PCB.  Put it back together - plugged in the network cable.  Phone boots, asks me to sign in - as I start the process and begin handling the phone I get disconnected from the network.
The error message that the phone shows:
"The Network cable was not detected. Please check that your cable is connected to the network port and that you have a network connection."
In this state the lights on the network port are off - they are not blinking.  So the PoE is delivered but the interface is down.  Looking at the port status on the switch shows that  PoE is "delivering" but the link status is "down".
All you have to do is firmly press the network cable back into the phone and it starts working.  Go figure what's at play.

  • HP 4120 Lync Phone Edition - Ringer Volume Level Can Not be controlled when a second call comes in for a workflow

Here is the scenario we are experiencing with our HP 4120 Lync phones running the latest available firmware (4.0.7577.4455)
    1) A User has an HP 4120 phone and is a member of a workflow/response group which is setup with attendant routing method.
    2) The ringer volume is set to the minimum level by the user
    3) When a single call comes in to this user, the ringer volume level works as expected
    4) When two calls come in at the same time to this users phone, the ringer volume set by the user is ignored and the ringer plays at Maximum volume.
This is causing disruptions to our office environment as we are unable to reliably control the volume levels of the ringers.
There does not appear to be anything more in the settings/menus of the phones themselves.  I am thinking this may be an issue with the firmware, but if anyone else has any suggestions, they would be appreciated.
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
Did the issue also happen before update to the latest firmware?
Did the issue only happen for Response Group call or also happen for basic calls?
If the issue only happen after updating to the latest firmware, it can be the issue of the firmware.
As there is call delay for Lync IP Phone to be a agent of the Response Group. So you can try to use Lync desktop to instead for better performance.

  • Email Settings Wiped Out on Regular Basis - Phone Network Issue?

Not sure where to post, but the CEO of our company has had an ongoing issue with his Droid X, and actually I suspect it being a phone network problem.  On a consistent basis when he travels from our office to his weekend home about 100 miles from us, his phone loses the POP3 email settings for our company email which is setup on his phone.  The account settings appear normal, yet we have to re-enter them and then turn the phone off and on again in order to get the email to go through.  VERY FRUSTRATING.  Anyone else have this issue?  Specifically we are traveling from Birmingham, AL to Selma, AL.  There is nothing he is doing to his phone causing the issue and it is not the email account as we have other users on the Verizon network in the area that do not have the problem, though they do not travel that route.
I would GREATLY appreciate hearing from anyone as Verizon customer service at the local store claims they have never heard of the issue.

  • Microsoft dual SIM phone network issues

Hi - I recently bought Microsoft 535 dual SIM. I have two SIM's in the phone. Till now I have been unsuccessful in getting both SIM's work together. If one SIM has network the other SIM wouldn't. The way I get a particular SIM to get network connection is
by selecting it as the SIM for data connection in mobile+SIM settings. While the other SIM shows "active" it says no network available. The moment I switch the selection in "SIM for data connection" to the 2nd SIM it gains network connection
and the 1st one goes to "no network found" status!!!
Appreciate any help on this. thanks for your time and attention.

The issue maybe also related to DHCP. If you use Windows DHCP servers, please try to check if the status of Lync Server DHCP feature is disabled.(Get-CsRegistrarConfiguration –EnableDHCPServer)

Has anyone else had issues with phone network being unavailable on iPhone 4 since updating to iOS 5.0.1? My iPhone 4 is continually searching for a network and does not find AT&T, my provider. I swapped SIM cards with another iPhone 4 running ios 4 and established this is a device problem, not a SIM card problem.

Does the device get any signal?
Sounds like the device may have had a hardware failure.  If it is out of warranty, the only option is the Out of Warranty replacement.
AppleCare is only an option if it is still under the original warranty.

  • Lync server call failed due to network issues

    hi,
i receive an error while making a lync call to an internal user
"call failed due to network issues"
i have two ip's installed on My NIC but when i remove one ip of the ip's from
my nic, everything seems to work fine.
    Kindly help

    Hello Matt,
    Hope you keeping well..!!
We are communicating with external customers lync server through federation option setup on our corporate lync server.  We have received the federation setting from the customer with SIP address which has been setup on our corporate lync servers after
that we were able to browse the customer contact through corporate lync account.
We were also able to chat with external customer but however voice/video functionality are not working through same session.  Whenever we try to dial out external customer lync account it ended with error message "call ended due to network issue".
We have checked the setting from corporate lync servers and network point of view but doesn't find any issue which cause the disconnection to voice/video over lync.  Could you pl help or guide with the way.
    Thanks

  • Random Lync Phone Edition Disconnections - Sometimes does not sign back in

We recently had a user who reported that his Lync Phone (Polycom CX600) was signed out when he came in first thing in the morning and it was sitting at a sign-in error page.  The phone then was having problems signing in.  We had to factory reset
the phone is order for it to get reconnected.
After the user complained once again about a week later that he found he phone signed out, I had the local tech take a look at the phone.  She tells me it was then signed in.  Now i'm baffled.  The phone was signed out earlier but then decided
to sign itself back in and was working just fine.  One thing else to note, we replaced the phone with a brand new one and still had the same issues.
I checked the DBAnalyze logs with snooper and found several errors that concerned me.  Here is one of the errors I found:

The part that concerns me is the "ABNORMAL SIGNOUT" message.  I found that this is happening to quite a few users around the company and quite frequently.  Has anyone else seen this issue before and if so, any clue as to what an abnormal
signout is?  Upper-management would like an explanation and i'm not quite sure how to explain it.
    Any thoughts?

  • Lync Phone Edition coexistance with lync 2010 and 2013

    Hi Everyone
I am currently planning a coexistent network between Lync 2010 and 2013 as I need to get 2013 out urgently. My question is around the Lync phone edition and how to get the phone to find the front end to register the phone to depending on which lync
pool the user is configured to use. Right now all phones are configured with DHCP and are configured to use the 2010 front end server to get its cert provisioned. I also use the HP 4110 and 4120 phones in the office.
How should I configure DHCP so that I do not cut my user off if they are moved the 2013 pool?
    Many Thanks

  • IPhone 6 and Bluetooth phone connectivity issues with my vehicle: this is how I fixed it.

With so many threads on this topic, I wanted to detail the steps I took to fix my iPhone 6 Bluetooth issues regarding connectivity to my vehicle and handsfree calling.  My phone was pairing with my vehicle without a problem and syncing my contacts and call history but when I attempted to make a call (from either the phone or the vehicle screen) the audio went out and I could not hear the call either through the vehicle speakers or on the phone. The call was going through but I was unable to see it on my vehicle screen and/or hear it either the phone or the vehicle screen.
Based on my research and what I have learned so far, the people having problems are those who restored their new iPhone 6 from an iCloud backup from a previous phone, rather than setting up their iPhone 6 as a new phone.  I did an iCloud restore from my previous 5s running iOS 8.
First, I am a Verizon customer and I enabled Advanced Calling on my line.  After I requested that this feature be added to my line, under “Cellular” settings on my iPhone, I enabled LTE voice & data.
    Next steps:
    1) Unpair/remove iPhone from the vehicle;
    2) Forget/remove the vehicle from the phone Bluetooth settings;
    3) Soft reset the iPhone;
    4) Reset network settings on the iPhone; and
    5) Pair the phone to the vehicle again and attempt to make a call.
    If that does not work…
    6) Perform a factory reset, erasing EVERYTHING from your phone and set it up as a new iPhone rather than restoring from a backup.
Resetting the network settings seems to be working for some people.  It did not work for me.  I tried it a few times with no result.  I did the dreaded factory reset, paired the phone with my vehicle and had all of my Bluetooth functionality back and was able to use the handsfree phone with zero issues.
I was on the phone yesterday multiple times with Apple, Toyota Entune, Verizon and my Toyota dealer. Verizon blamed Toyota Entune, Toyota Entune blamed Verizon and my Toyota dealer blamed Apple.  Nobody had a clue how to fix this issue or what was causing it. I don’t know the exact reason why the previous iCloud backups are killing the Bluetooth connections, I just know what worked for me and I thought it was worth sharing.
    Good luck.

The new 8.0.2 update DID NOT FIX THIS ISSUE AT ALL. After you power off and on with the phone, same issue as the 8.0, all 3 of my cars lost Bluetooth connection and shows no signal at all.  Good job Apple, what a lousy update you guys did.

  • IPhone 4s 64GB Network Issues

I have a iPhone 4s 64GB that has intermident wifi network issues. I have completely restored the phone and am running in factory configuration with only one app installed (ping utility)and am still experiencing the following issue. When using the network (safari, facetime, etc) the network will become unresponsive. If i start a ping from the device the to the network gateway I get no response. If I ping the iPhone from the computer I get no response. If I toggle airplane move on then off everything starts working and the device will start to function normally and respond to pings. This happens continually throughout the day to any network I am connected to. I have received a replacement device and still have the same issue. I have talked to apple numerous times and they still say it is hardware. I have also deployed 100 iphone 4s to our company and hear of similar issues. Has anyone else had this issue or found a resolution? I am a very big advocate of apple products but after this exprience I will no longer be upgrading to the latest and greatest. _sipinternaltls._tcp.company.com SRV 0 0 5061 pointed to sip.company.com
sip.company.com pointed to Lync FE server IP address.
dialin.company.com pointed to Lync FE server IP address
meet.company.com pointed to Lync FE server IP address
ucupdates-r2.company.com pointed to Lync FE server IP address
    _ntp._udp.company.com SRV 0 0 123 pointed to my DC (WIN2K8R2)

    Finally can't catch the problem.
    RFT

OK, that is very telling as USB tethering has very few requirements and in most environments works rought out of the box.
Here the main things to check:
Is the Lync User's Telephony setting set to Enterprise Voice?  This is a requirement to use Lync Phone Edition (the
Line URI does not need to be populated).
Time Server issues can also prevent sign-in.  If a Time Server is not provided via DHCP or DNS SRV then the phone will fallback to connecting to
time.windows.com, so if the phone does not have Internet access or NTP traffic is blocked at a firewall, then this could be your problem as well.
Obvious, but worth pointing out: make sure the phone is connected to Ethernet and receiving a basic DHCP lease (IP, subnet, gateway, DNS, etc).  USB tethering does not work unless the device is also connected to Ethernet.
Follow the steps in this article to at least get USB tethering working
    http://blog.schertz.name/2010/12/externally-provisioning-lync-phone-edition-3
Then you can move on to PIN authentication:

  • Lync phone edition does not try to sign in after the front end server restarts

A restart of the frontend server. None of our Lync Phone Edition CX600 and CX3000 phones will sign back in. If you hit the cancel button and click it will work. This was fixed in a previous CU update but seems to be back again. CX version 4.0.7577.4451.
Any ideas to try. Cant always restart our switches.

    Hi,
Please install the update KB3014910 in the link below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/kb/3014910
The Update resolves the issue: Lync Phone Edition cannot automatically sign in when the primary front-end server that you register is shut down.
If the issue persists, please also try to reset the IP phone and test again.

  • Network issue in iPhone 4 on iOS 6, iOS6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, iOS 6.1, iOS 6.1.1 and iOS6.1.2

    Hello,
Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 last year. I am having network issues.
I have been monitoring my wife's android phone whenever I have a network issue on my phone (Both of us use the same provider and the same voice + data plan). The android phone has never had any network issues.
This rules out any issue with the provider and/or network issues.
Sometimes its the cellular data that does not connect or sometimes it doesnt connect to the network at all. I will have to do a cold start to get the phone up and use.
I expected this to be solved in all the subsequest fixes that were released. I am disappointed even with the iOS 6.1.2, the problem still persists.
By phone was superb when i was using it with iOS5. This iOS6 is a big disappointment.
The problem is even more when I am indoor. When everyone around have proper network on their phone, I read "NO SERVICE" on my phone.
My patience is running out now. I have been waiting for the past 5 months (a loyal apple fan) and I think I have to now take a decision. I cant make basic phone calls when I want and its really irritating when I see NO SERVICE when I want to make the call. Most of the time I end up switching the AIRPLANE MODE ON and then OFF to get the network again.
Sometimes the call drops and network goes off if I answer or make a call when my CELLULAR DATA is on (2G or 3G) or on Wifi.
Is there any solution to it?
    Ajay.

I had been holding off downloading iOS 6 ever since it was released and today was to be the day... no more.
    Thank you for the warning!

  • How can i fix my iphone 3gs when i have network issues after updating to IOS 6.1.3 and avoid the connect to ITunes screen?

Im an owner of an Iphone 3gs.
When I updated my software to IOS 6.1.3 I started having network issues such as my phone would go on searching, it would search for signal and then No service after few minutes it would restart and when its on again it would show me Connect To Itunes screen, I tried connecting but nothing happens and if I just leave it as it is it will just keep on restarting and showing the same screen sometimes I might get lucky and the phone will start working again but No Service and if I turn on my 3G for the times Im outdoors it will just restart again so 3G is also another problem I have got. Today I decided to take it to an Apple Store, the guy restored it and now what happens is that it switches on and is showing me the connect to Itunes message but with black backround and i cant do anything it keeps on restarting and showing the same thing. Please if there is anyone that would like to spend some time with me to help me out, he would be more than Welcome.
    Im located in South Africa
