HP 4250DTN and windows server 2008 R2, slow printing

ok, so here is my deal,
majority of my printers are HP 4250DTN, some 4650's and 4700's
i have tried probably every driver from universal to PCL (5e, 6), PS, all possible combinations and still running
into the same issue when trying to print over the network,
i have two Windows 2008 R2 servers in cluster setup as File/Print server,
clients are Windows XP Pro, couple Win7 Pro or Ent.
In either case when i try to install a network printer on a client computer i can install it but managing and printing
is a looooong process, if i just hit print button (in word, adobe,...) it takes about 2 minutes to print the page,
if i want to change any printing properties it takes forever to get anywhere.
i've tried this with all available different printer drivers
(HP Universal works fast but i can not use this driver in my environment because we use customized tray and paper setting and this driver does NOT allow me to customize these),
i am assuming it has to be something with printer drivers, because i am still running old 2003 servers as file/print cluster on two different servers
and when installing a printer through that it prints immediately as it should, no matter if i am on Win7 or WinXP client.
I am trying to migrate everything to new 2008 file print cluster but with this issue i am at the stand still right now.
any help much appreciated.
Thank you

I have Windows 2003 servers with the Universal PCL6 driver v5,4.  It printed slower then the previous version.  I manually changed the Device Settings, mainly the Monochrome / Color option.  This seemed to make the print process faster.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Slow LAN Transfer (Receive)

Using Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows Server 2008 R2
Two machines, connected via 1GB 1000base-T LAN, with a 1Gb switch between... and yes, I've tried swapping cables and ports. Server has two RAID5's, a 6 platter and an 8 platter. Workstation has two RAID5's, a 3 SSD and a 4 platter. Both sides using Intel
CPU's and a RealTek 8100C chipset Gb LAN, same LAN drivers.
Using Windows Explorer to COPY a 20GB file:
Server Disk1 to Server Disk 2: >250MB/s (Server disk I/O isn't an issue).
Server Disk2 to Server Disk 1: >250MB/s (Server disk I/O isn't an issue).
    Workstation Disk1 to Disk2: >150MB/s (Workstation disk I/O isn't an issue).
    Workstation Disk2 to Disk1: >150MB/s (Workstation disk I/O isn't an issue).
Server Disk1 to Workstation Disk2: 91MB/s (near 100% LAN utilization).
    All looks good so far:
Workstation Disk2 to Server Disk2: 25MB/s declining to 17MB/s; occasionally as low as 9MB/s.
Some of the changes listed above appeared to work for a few moments. I've seen as high as 90MB/s for a few seconds, but it declines rapidly under 30MB/s... so no fix that has lasted.
It appears there is something in Windows 7 that prevents fast transmits; or something in Windows Server 2008 that blocks fast receives. I have set the server-side receive training to disabled, normal, highlyrestricted, and experimental and the Win7 side
to off, normal, and highlyrestricted in various combinations. Again, nothing concrete to report as an improvement.
What would the MS Gurus suggest I do with NetMonitor as far as capturing something worth their time to diagnose?

I've tried disabling auto tuning on the clients with no appreciable effect. The throttling feature however appears to have had an effect - changing the setting from default 10 to 70 has slowed the transfer from 20MB/s down to about an initial 6MB/s that
has slowed even further, and is now at 3.2MB/s (3% network utilization according to Resource Monitor at both ends of the wire - WS2008R2 and W7).
Question: What does the 10 (0x0a and 70 (0x46) represent: Mbps on the LAN, or 10% and 70% reserved, or?
I'll try the "off" setting of all FF's and add to this.
In any case, having a backup server that can't be utilized due to client "entertainment media" issues is a little painful... there should be a straightforward and published method to set the network to "normal".
    UPDATE:
I've tried settings of 0, 10, 70, and FFFFFFFF. 10 might have been best, but only marginally better than 70. Range of time to copy was under 7 minutes to over 8 minutes. Very small difference.
But I also tried this using Windows Explorer and a Dataset of one folder containing 12.5GB of miscellaneous folders and files - and was surprised.
     - Dataset is at \\WIN7\Dx\ = = Client physical RAID5 drive D:\Dataset
On WIN7 Client: Share drive D with Everyone as Dx
On WSvr Server: Share drive D with Everyone as Dx
    On WIN7 Client: Map \\WSvr\Dx to Z:
On WSvr Server: Map \\WIN7\Dx  to Z:
On WIN7 Client, using Windows Explorer:
-- Copy Dataset from Local Drive D: to Network Drive Z:
-- Took about  8 minutes, with 20% network utilization.
On WSvr (2008 R2 Server), using Windows Explorer:
-- Copy Dataset from Network Drive Z: to Local Drive D:
-- Took about 3 minutes, and 70% network utilization.
Why does running the copy from the server allow better network utilization and net throughput?
    UPDATE2:
I am NOT using HOMEGROUP; I have a dedicated workgroup network the client is a member of, and the server is a DC. I'll eventually try joining the client to the domain and see if that changes anything, but doubt it will so haven't taken the time yet.

  • Lms 3.2 and window server 2008 r2 standard

we have bought lms 3.2 and window server 2008 r2 standard. Now we know, it cant be used togetther
Could we upgrade to lms 4.0.1 ? If so, how can we do ?
    thank you.
    Duyen.

Correct, LMS 3.2 is not supported on Windows 2008 R2.  You can upgrade to LMS 4.0 (which is supported on R2), but that is not a free upgrade from LMS 3.x.  You can, however, download a free 90-day eval of LMS 4.0 from http://www.cisco.com/go/nmsevals .
It sounds like you need to contact your reseller or account manager to see what they can do.  If you just purchased LMS 3.2, you may be able to get a free or discounted upgrade to 4.0.

    Hi,
This error means that your DC does not support the encryption method the ACS wants to use.
Usually this happens when you run 2008 Server with 2003 functionality...
You will need to run ktpass.exe according to the DC you are running:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/nac/appliance/configuration_guide/48/cas/s_adsso.html#wp1277452.
For Windows 2008 Server at 2003 Server functional level:
ktpass -princ newadsso/[adserver.][email protected] -mapuser newadsso -pass
    PasswordText -out c:\newadsso.keytab -ptype KRB5_NT_PRINCIPAL

    Dear All,
Is there a 32 Bit edition available for windows server 2012 and windows server 2008?
    Regards,
    Ahmed

    Hi,
    Quote:
All editions of Windows Server 2008 R2 are 64-bit only.
Reference link below(session Supported upgrade paths):
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd379511(v=ws.10).aspx
And based on MS official description about system requirement for Windows Server 2012/2012 R2, we may find out that they only has 64 bit OS.

    O.

YES. It worked perfectly for me, you'll have to use oracle 8/8i lite though.

  • T-500 and Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM

    My setup:
T-500 dual booting via VHD - Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 (both 64-bit).
    My problem:
I'm having a devil of a time with this one.  I get random BSOD'd in my Server 2008 R2 installation, but my Win7 install is rock solid.  Sometimes it's right away, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes when trying to use WordPad.  I cannot get my wireless card (Intel 5100 AGN) to work along with video drivers for my ATI card, so I'm leaning towards a driver issue.  I'm trying to use the Win7 drivers for anything that's missing drivers at the moment, since they are the same under the hood, so to speak.
Has anyone else experimented with this setup and/or run into similar problems?  Thanks!
    T500: T9400 (2.53GHz), 4GB RAM, 160GB 7200rpm, 15.4in 1680x1050 WSXGA+ LCD, 256MB ATI Radeon HD3650, DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, AT&T WWAN, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, 9c Li-Ion, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RC (Build 7100)

You shouldn't have any big issues, but there are a couple of gotchas that Server versions of Windows have (a notable one is the Bluetooth stack).  Those are somewhat detailed in the review, though (and that blog also details how to get other features of Server 2008 R2 running).

  • Driver for Deskjet 1220c (Windows 7 x64 and Windows Server 2008 R2)

    Hi,
I've got a Deskjet 1220c and have recently upgraded two machines; one to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and the other to Windows Server 2008 R2.  Any idea where I can get printer drivers?
I'd like to try the Vista x64 drivers, though these were included on the Vista CD from MS, and not available as a separate download from HP (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00868762).
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
    Thanks,

    Hi
I had this trobule too.  Below is the instructions to install driver.  Disconnect your printer. In printers select add printer.  Then click windows update (need internet) allow them to update and then select 1220c printer to install leaving as standard old port.  Once installed go into printer properites and update to USB port.
    Bingo it works!
Refer to the below link for full instructions.

  • Window SBS server 2008 and window server 2008 R2 on the same domain

    Hi all,
I am a person only work for linux system. Recently i work for my company that using microsoft technologie. So i have a lot of trouble. Could you please help me and below are my big troble that i have met:
In my system, i have the first window SBS server 2008 run on our domain. However my organization growth up and we have more than 150 users and mailbox of exchange server 2007. So i do not want to use my sbs server 2008 anymore.
I am going to install a window server 2008 R2 64 bit and join it into the same domain with sbs server 2008. It will be replicate the username, dns, OU and group policy...After that i will tranfer FSMO role to new server and i will demote then remove the
    sbs server.
My boss say that i should not use this solution because window server sbs can not run with any other kinds of window server 2008 (R2, standard, enterprise...) and it will automatically shutdown the main server after a couple of days.
Someone have experience can help me. I am so confuse now

Maybe this will also help to better understand the steps involved:

And remember, as long as you don't move the PDC to one of the new DCs, you can leave the SBS 2008 up indefinitely. But I would remove Exchange 2007 off it right away once I've migrated the mailboxes and public folders, otherwise
you will get yourself into an Exchange coexistence scenario which is much more complex to configure and support because of the CAS differences, changing the URLs on the old one to "legacy.domain.com," getting a new UC/SAN cert with the correct
names on it, and more. Believe me, you really don't want to coexist them. The only time I've coexisted Exchange versions is during large migrations, such as 500 or more. Otherwise, I just migrate the mailboxes over a weekend and get it done with.

  • Oracle XE 11g and Windows Server 2008 - 64 bits

    Hello,
    my questions are :
    - is Oracle XE working on 64 bits (windows)
    - if it doesn't :
    - is an update coming ?
    - is there any solution to make Oracle XE running with Win2008 Server 64 bits (i tried, but i had many problems with execution of listener)
    Thx for your informations.

Hello, and welcome to the OTN forums!
You could have used the search forum to find answers to these frequently asked questions...
However, I give you a short intro:
    - is Oracle XE working on 64 bits (windows)There is no general answer to that question. As you've found out, there is no installer for 64bit Windows. As for 32bit, there are several Windows versions that are listed in the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABHICJH]System Requirements section of the XE Installation Guide, and a few you won't find there, e.g. Vista or Home Editions. This means you'll probably experience problems when trying to install on any OS version not listed there. Some of them might be worked around, others may not.
Since your target is Windows Server 2008 (edition?), you might get a more precise answer when you search for that.
    - is an update coming ?See {thread:id=2277728} .
In addition to that, {thread:id=2278170} contains an overview for the state of all operating systems.
    - is there any solution to make Oracle XE running with Win2008 Server 64 bits (i tried, but i had many problems with execution of listener)The safest way would be to use a VM with a supported operating system.

You will see that the sqljdbc_auth.dll needs to be copied only if you are using Windows Integrated Authentication on a 64 bit OS:
For the plug-in to establish connection to SQL Server instance using Windows Integrated Authentication mode, when deployed on a 64-bit (X64 or IA64) copy of Enterprise Manager Agent running on 64-bit Windows operating system, do the following:
Depending on the JVM version, copy the respective version of sqljdbc_auth.dll to the folder $AgentHome\sysman\jdbcdriver. If the directory does not exist, create it. The file sqljdbc_auth.dll is available as part of Type 4 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver version 1.2 (after unzipping, you will find three files with same name, that is, auth\x86\sqljdbc_auth.dll, auth\x64\sqljdbc_auth.dll, and auth\ia64\sqljdbc_auth.dll)
    o
For X64 version of Enterprise Manager Agent installed on X64 (Xeon or AMD) Windows systems, copy the file auth\x64\sqljdbc_auth.dll to $AgentHome\sysman\jdbcdriver (the dll file should be copied directly under the folder specified. No sub-directories should be created.)
    o
For IA64 version of Enterprise Manager Agent installed on IA64 Windows systems, copy the file auth\ia64\sqljdbc_auth.dll to $AgentHome\sysman\jdbcdriver
    Note:
    · No manual step needs to be performed when the plug-in is deployed on 32-bit copy of Enterprise Manager Agent (running on 32-bit or 64-bit Windows).

iTunes is only supported on Windows XP SP2 and Vista (32 and 64 bit)
It is not supported on server versions of windows.

When I run my video drivers with the standard VGA it works fine but I can't use my analog VGA port to a projector or external monitor without changing the BOS settings.  If I install the Windows 7/Vista video drivers for the Intel HD Graphics, it appears to install ok, then, when I reboot, it starts to flash (it appears to be going through various modes) and then eventually comes up with a BSOD.  I have tried the latest version and a previous version of the same driver.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    A

Windows 7 drivers should work, but the applications asociated with the drivers (a.k.a "panel control") won't work.
Officialy, Windows Server 2008 isn't supported by Lenovo. You can try to enter to Intel's site and checke there if they had published a working driver for your operative system.
    Best regards.
