HP 4540s Invalid Product Key in answer file, Win 8 x64

I baught 3 HP 4540s i5 laptops loaded all the same way and 1 is giving me uphill. When installing Windows 8 x64 I get to Select Region and Language, see the drive and select install.Installing windows Screen comes up and finishes "Getting files ready for Instalation".After that I get a error message:"The unattended answer file contains an invalid product key. Either remove the  invalid key or provide a valid product  key in the unattend answer file to proceed  with Windows Instalation" I tried to install with all 3 of the discs that came with the different laptops and same error. Only thing changes was I added aditional 4GB RAM (Corsair Value Select CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9), and swopped out the HDD with a OCZ Vector 128GB SSD. Any ideas as to what and where the problem lies?

Ran into the same issue.  Same error message on a new Elitebook 9480m.  Saw this post and realized I had added CrucialRAM too.  So removed the RAM and restarted the installation and it proceeded without an issue.  Weird but true.  Thank you for sharing your experience as it helped me.  HP take note and address this issue please. Mhzman

  • Invalid Product Key when upgrading to Win 8.1

I just upgraded from Windows 8 (which came pre-installed on my Twist) to Windows 8.1. This is supposed to be a free upgrade and all reviews recommend people do the upgrade.
However, my product key now is showing up as "blocked" and I can't activate Windows. I called Microsoft and all they can tell is that the key is invalid. I called Lenovo and all they can tell is that the keys they have only work on Windows 8.0, they don't have Windows 8.1 keys.
So, now I need to roll back to Windows 8.0, but the only way to do it is to do a clean re-install. Obviously, a huge problem, and I'll loose all my progams and settings.
Lenovo should let all their customers know that they SHOULD NOT upgrade to Windows 8.1 right now. And they need to find a solution to this ASAP.
I have 30 days when Windows will continue working, but after that it will lock up.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

No, I did not make any changes to either hardware or installed software. The upgrade process was the usual "go to MS website, click Update, wait for download to finish and start the update".
I did contact both MS tech support and Lenovo tech support. Neither could help. Lenovo tech support (I talked to them twice) was the one who told me that Win 8 product keys they have will not work with Win 8.1. They told me that I would need to reinstall Win8 from scratch and sent me the recovery disc set.
I was actually able to resolve this now. What I think happened is that Win8 key was coded somewhere in the laptop's bios and the new version of Windows was reading it incorrectly. There is a program that lets you extract OEM Windows product keys: : http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/29789-RW-Everything-Latest-News The program gives you the correct key. Once I entered that, I was able to activate Windows.

  • Microsoft Office 2008 Invalid Product Key (PID)

Hey all, i have just updated my Office for Mac Software which said that the update was "critical".
After re-starting my Mac and clicking in MS Word the message reads: "Office for Mac has determined that your product key is invalid". My product key is Genuine as i am one of three registered users after purchasing the Student and Teacher version. I cannot open any Office files and am furious to be honest that this can happen!
I have followed the following help on Mactopia but still cannot find these lines for putting into Trash: Can you please help me on this issue?
If your copy of Office 2008 was installed with an invalid product key, or if you mistakenly used the same product key to install Office 2008 on more than one computer, you must remove the invalid product key and enter a valid product key to use Office 2008.
In the Finder, select *_/Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/OfficePID.plist_*, and then on the File menu, click Move to Trash.
Select *_/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 settings.plist*_, and then on the File menu, click Move to Trash.
On the Apple menu, click Restart.
After your computer restarts, open any Office 2008 application.
    The Office Setup Assistant opens.
Accept the software license agreement, and then enter your valid product key.
The product key is located on the back of the Office 2008 for Mac DVD sleeve or on the back of the Install Guide.
Thank you in advance for your help and time!!!!!
    Dave

  • How to convert x86 answer file to x64 ?

Is there easy way to convert existing x86 answer file to x64 in ICE ?
Or do I have to make answer file from ground up, picking feature packs manually?

Luckily it was possible to run two instances of ICE, one with x86 distribution share and other with x64, so it can be done manually relatively fast.
    I have a follow-up question :
In the x64 answer file, some packages come in two flavours, x86 and x64. For example, under Product>OperatingSystem>FoundationCore>WindowsEmbeddedEdition we have Deployment_amd64 and Deployment_x86 components. Both versions contain RunSynchronous
setting. Do I have to enter synchronous commands in x64 component only, or in both components?

  • Invalid Product Key

I bought CS6 last month and i've been trying to download the full version for a month now. When I go to the website to enter my product key it says it's invalid?!

Which exact Adobe product did you purchase? There are many which include the term "CS6".
Where are you getting the product key (serial number) from?

  • System Recovered - Invalid product key

I've just done a recovery, but it tells me that product key is invalid. I've used the Toshiba disk supplied with the computer.
Originally Basic was on, but the recovery disk is premium. Where can I get a key from?

    Hi,
usually its impossible that, if you install a operating system from a toshiba recovery disk, a CD key is needed. You said, originally was Basic installed an on the recovery disk was premium. I dont think that a recovery media contains another version of Vista then which was preinstalled.
Are you REALLY sure that the disk which was used for recovery, is the same which was shipped with the machine?
Could you please tell which machine you own?

  • Invalid product key code

hi, just bought my son a Satellite L500 for xmas, we are trying to set up emails and asks for the 25 key product code, however, when we enter the code it comes up with invalid last digit. Any thing I'm doing wrong ? Thanks

    Downloads are here.
The B means the computer was refurbished by Toshiba.
I know you don't believe you have a trial edition. But that laptop would have been refurbished to its original state, which includes Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Edition, 60-day trial.
You should be able to activate the trial period this way.

I have a product key but I can't downlaod the Creative Suite, it keeps saying I have an invalid product key. What do I do?

  • Product Key error on Windows 7 Installation

Why do I get a product key error come up on installing windows 7 on Mac using bootcamp?I recently installed windows 7 on my macbook pro using bootcamp. I used windows 7 upgrade and when i got to the product key enter phase. It told me I had a invalid product key even though I just bought the windows 7. How do I fix this problem?

In order for the product key to work, you must upgrade from a previously installed version of Windows on a device that has already been formatted in NTFS. Boot Camp Assistant doesn’t format partitions in NTFS—it just sets the boundary for partitioning—and if you hit the format button with your upgrade version of Win 7, it will install files until it asks for the product key, but it won’t accept it. Hope this helps. Peace.

  • Office home and student 2013 product key

I did a System Reset on 7/28/2015. After that I lost Office Home and Student 2013 which I purchased and was installed on my laptop when I got it. I contacted HP and I was emailed an Office product key via email. I have entered it several times and even had a friend enter it. It will not activate the software. It says it is an invalid product key for a different version. I could not call HP today because I was away. Could I have received the wrong product key. Control Panel/Programs says Office is installed. But it will not open. I have been on HP's website and Microsoft's looking for answers. I certainly need help. Let this serve as a cautionary tale to others. ALWAYS – as I've always done before this – purchase the FULL VERSION of OFFICE – with the CD. Even though it costs more. It is worth the extra cost – to not have the headache I'm having with losing Office. Answers greatly appreciated – thanks.

Hi ,   Thank you for your update. You should not have to do a recovery to regain your Home Office.  I suggest you contact Microsoft as they must have a record of your purchase and be able to help you.  Have all your purchase information available for them to check.  I provided contact link for Microsoft and a phone number. If you click on the contact Microsoft link, you should be able to contact them for assistance with this issue.Microsoft has a record someplace or you trial version would have expired.  To answer your other question yes there are posts  in the forum  with a link to the recovery documents, but I am happy to provide them for you.  HP PCs - Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8) You will notice an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss.. • Unattended Answer File

    Hi There
I know that a few others have posted a similar question but a lot of the answer go far over my head.  Here's my personal situation
I have a version of home premium that I downloaded as a student from microsoft a few months ago, and burned my copy of windows 7 onto a dvd.  Before that I had windows xp ultimate so I had a clean install I think.  Anyways, I'm getting a terrible
virus now that keeps opening up IE and plays random virus files like 5kjfwq35.exe so I want to reinstall windows. (It's blocked access to everything like being able to use windows defender and run updates so i mention the virus in case it has to do with anything)
I have a tried a few times now to go through advance recovery with my burnt dvd copy in the computer, but i get the
"Unattended Answer File Contains Invalid Producti Key".  How do I get rid of this?  What does it mean?

    Hi,
As I know, the student versions are upgrade versions of Windows 7.The upgrade Windows 7 needs to verify that the previous operating system is valid. Thue please re-install and
active Windows XP, then perform an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 again.
    References:

  • Windows 8 not picking up embedded product key when installed with WDS

Ok so here is my setup.
Server 2008 R2, running WDS and serving various images.
the Windows 8 image is a vanilla boot.wim and install.wim imported from a system builder iso.
If I burn the ISO or extract it onto a USB drive, then the install process picks up the embedded Windows product keys no problem.
If I deploy the same thing via WDS, the setup wizard asks for the keys, ergo, is not picking them up from the UEFI firmware. Is this an inherent limitation of WDS or am I doing something wrong?

    Hi,
As it has been a while since you post the question, whether the issue still exists? Have you tried to entered the product key in unattended file? If issue still exists could you share the unattended file with us?
