  • SB Live 5.1 Plat/XP SP2 driver/install issues..

I'm about to pull my hair out, maybe someone here can help me.....thanks in advance.
My SB Li've 5. Platinum card and drivers/programs had been working fine for years. Shortly after the SP2 install, I started getting corrupted driver messages upon startup (unable to identify which), until finally startup failed altogether. Thinking that my hard-dri've was failing too (bad sectors), I decided to upgrade and do a complete re-install of win98se, XP and all my programs. The re-install has been going great (albeit slow), until I got to the install of my SB card and programs. Here's the issues I've been having since:
-The Auto-Updater said I had the latest software & drivers before I installed anything from Creative
-The SB Li've original CD says it's not compatible with my OS (XP Home update version/SP2 updated). I tried to download the programs, but it said I needed previous versions when trying to install. (Later, I installed the CD anyway per a previous topic I saw on this board.....startup was ok.)
-Then I installed the Li'veDrvUni-pack found on the downloads page (28 Feb 03), and the other program updates. The remote control center & Recorder updated, the others say I have the latest version.
Now I'm back to the same startup-freeze-reboot cycle that I had on my old HD. Booting in safe mode isn't easy to do either.
Anybody have any suggestions to help me be able to use my computer and beloved Creative software without a win98-like experience? I'm at a loss at what to do......

I'm a little seasoned in this stuff. It seems to me that your problem is not related to the Creative card, driver, or software. For this kind of help it might be more helpful for you to try posting your problems and all system information on forums like help.com (CNET), WindowsBBS, the Microsoft forums, computing.net, etc, etc.
I could try to help troubleshoot you but I would be the only one helping you, whereas if you post to those other kinds of computer forums you'll get access to lots of folks who have varied experiences.
You've got some work ahead, but keep at it and you'll get things running again.

  • HOW TO upload linux drivers to OES SP2 linux driver store

    Hi everyone,
I couldn't get iprntcmd to upload a linux driver to OES SP2 driver
store. Tried everything. Drove me crazy.
The solution I finally came up with is multi-step but it works. Do
    this as root.
    First:
You can't upload the drivers in compressed form (.gz extension) so to
    expand them all you run
for filename in /usr/share/cups/model/*.gz; do gunzip
    /usr/share/cups/model/ "$filename";done
This expands all the zipped files in the driver directory.
    Second:
Run the following to upload the drivers to the driver store:
for filename in /usr/share/cups/model/*.ppd; do iprntman driver linux
-upload -username admin -P novell -from-ppd
    /usr/share/cups/model/"$filename";done
Obviously, you need to substitute your own username and password (-P
parameter). If you don't add the username and password, you'll be
prompted for them for each driver uploaded.
It's not pretty, but it'll get you there.

    Don

You should see following on the first lines of text in the file.
    [Version]
    Signature="$WINDOWS NT$"

    ClassGuid={e0cbf06c-cd8b-4647-bb8a-263b43f0f974}

  • Btoes bluetooth and WinXP SP2

    All,
I have installed WindowsXP SP2 along with the new driver posted in the support section and NOT the one on the CD. I would like to create a connection with my SonyEricsson P900 and use the audio gateway so I can talk through my laptop's microphone and speakers, does anyone know how I can do this?
    Thanks
    Msuk

Having spent nearly 2 days trying to do something similar, I am fairly certain this can't be done.
I have the latest P900 PC Suite Software (3.0.0) and the Win XP SP2 driver supplied by MSI. Windows detects, and installs the BToes device with the new driver and sets up the relevant COM ports every time. It can also detect and pair with the P900 every time.
However, I have only once succesfully been able to link the PC Suite software to the phone via Bluetooth. This is because the PC Suite software is written by a bunch of monkeys.
Despite adding an option to use COM500 (Bluetooth) as a communication channel in the latest version, it absolutely will not use this to communicate with the phone. The "Phone Monitor Options" provides no option to monitor this port, selecting it manually through the "Link Properties" window does nothing. The standard serial COM ports over Bluetooth regularly lock up and do not work. Setting the Phone Monitor to connect via these ports results in a mesage saying the port is already in use. If by some miracle you do happen to get the PC Suite talking via these COM ports (I did this once out of nearly 100 atempts!), the next time the BToes device is inserted, Windows allocates them different COM port numbers because the PC Suite has locked down these ports for monitoring.
Finally, although it is easy to blame the PC Suite software for being poorly written, I should note that the PC Suite worked 90% of the time with the old MSI drivers with their own Bluetooth software. Unfortunately, this will not work on WIndows XP SP2.
MSI - can you advise why this is so?

  • Windows XP drive not found after install

After installing Windows XP on boot camp, I have found that the computer will restart and then fail to find the drive I have just installed windows on giving me an error message something like "Cannot locate boot disk". If i restart into OSX then it finds the drive but i cannot boot into windows because it will just display the error message. If i try installing Vista this works fine but Vista is shockingly awful and i would sooner have XP. Any ideas??

    Evening all
Have you disabled any Norton, KAS, antivirus anti spyware programs?
Did you set a restore point prior to installing the Sp3?
Which method did you install the Sp3 from? full adminstrator account or apply the subinacl program and reset.cmd ?
There may be other problems prior to install of Sp3, Are the bios,of the systems you are using, the latest version?
What type of system are you using?
Are you using the latest W.H.Q.L. Microsoft signed drivers video available for your system? 174.74 from Nvidia, 8.4 catylst for ATI/AMD?
If you are using X2 processor both the processor driver and the dual core optimizer. You cannot depend on the Sp2 driver for proper operation.
      What about chipset drivers?
And the mouse, and other perpherials?
If you have any unsigned drivers you will have endless reboots.
If you check the system to see if safe mode is available you can trouble shoot what is happening
*Press f8 prior to the Windows splash screen*
Log in as adminstrator *Full one*
If you are using an AMD machine, check the regedit for the following key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Intelppm\Start
If this key exists change it to 04 Hexdecimal and reboot.

  • Travel Sound MP3 / Speakers Incompatible XP SP2 Mach

I recently bought a Travel Sound MP3 player; excellent sound for the size and price. As speakers
it works fine connected to my MP3 player. Using a Windows 2000 machine I am able to load music
on it and play songs using it's internal memory. The unit works fine in every respect but one.
On my home PC where my music is with an OS of XP-SP2 upon connection the unit
shows up as a removable disk of size 0. I can not read or write to it. Tried numerous re-installs,
roll backs, USB ports, nothing hel
    ps.
I even tried to change the driver's manually but couldn't get around
the wizard. I'm assuming there's a compatibility issue between the FAT on the unit and the
Windows XP SP2 Disk.sys driver. XP thinks the Device is working fine, but just sees the disk
    size as zero.
I tried with and without the Creative install; only difference is using creative install directs the unit to
driver disk.sys inside the SP_2 cabs while skipping the creative install finds the same driver inside
WINNT\System32. I don't really know what the info files on the creative disk are for, but they don't
affect at the XP's choice of driver for the unit.
I even tried another USB cable, no help -- it has to be the XP SP2 Driver.
Right now I"m really happy with the speakers, only I won't be able to get much use out of the
internal memory if I have to schlep the music on and off my office machine to load it
I Wonder if I could find the registry key and change that directly to reach inside the SP Uninstall
file set and access the older driver.
    Any other ideas? Suggestions?
    Eric

    Travandalex,
With the Sound Blaster USB Go! plugged in, all sound should be handled by the USB device as it should set the default playback device to the Go!. Try doing this:
) Go to Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices and click on the Audio Tab (with the Go! turned on)
    2) Make sure that the Go! is selected as the default playback device. Put a checkmark in the "use only default devices" box.
Now the playback should be consistently through either the Audigy or the Go!.

  • ITunes Can Be Installed On 5 Devices - Why The Chaos When Reinstalling?

This comes to light on the very rare occasions I have to replace a hard drive, which unfortunately just occurred.  So obviously i had to reinstall everything, as I hadn't managed to clone the old drive before it failed.
I know that iTunes can be installed on up to 5 separate machines and currently I now have to installed on my secondary boot - Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.
I multi-boot as I test security software so like to have it installed on all my OS's.   It was my Vista Ultimate SP2 drive that failed.
Before I reinstall iTunes and Quicktime on Vista, is there some trick that I am missing that will negate the need for a complete re-download to that system of every single thing I've ever purchased?
If it's any help I keep the iTunes (Media) folder on my external drive - where it is totally independent of any operating system.   I don't use the Cloud for backups as I have restricted bandwidth and in any case am not paying for extra storage even if I had plenty of bandwidth.
Any tips and hints would be appreciated.
Forgive me if I should have read something or other - please point me wherever.

Did you use 'Software Update' to get the 10.8.2 update that is specific to the Late 2012 Mac mini?
If it is not being displayed, you may need to wait a few hours to use 'Software Update' to get this update, as the update that you need is currently not in the 'Support', 'Downloads' section of the Apple website.
This is the link to the update in the 'Support', 'Downloads' section of the Apple website, if you want to check back later: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1603.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: XA error: XAER_PROTO : Routine was invoked in an inp

we're using wls 8.1sp2 w/ oracle. our database connection setup works fine when using a JBDCConnectionPool, and specifying SupportsLocalTransactions="true", RollbackLocalxUponClose="true" (among many other settings).
i'm looking into moving from using a JDBCConnectionPool/DataSource configured in the config.xml to using a DataSourceFactory along with using a <jdbc-connection-pool> in the weblogic-application.xml. the reason for this is to keep the data source from being publicly available. if someone else wants to get to our data, they're going to go through our beans, not a jdbc connection from the ds. please let me know if i'm mistaken that this will accomplish that goal.
here's the settings setup for the xa-parms in the weblogic-application.xml:
              <xa-params>
              <debug-level>3</debug-level>
              <keep-conn-until-tx-complete-enabled>true</keep-conn-until-tx-complete-enabled>
              <local-transaction-supported>true</local-transaction-supported>
              <xa-transaction-timeout>30</xa-transaction-timeout>
              <rollback-localtx-upon-connclose>true</rollback-localtx-upon-connclose>
              </xa-params>
that's the setup. now the problem. when using the weblogic-application.xml method, we see various errors with stack traces that look like:
java.sql.SQLException: XA error: XAER_PROTO : Routine was invoked in an inproper context start() failed on resource 'weblogic.jdbc.jta.DataSource': XAER_PROTO : Routine was invoked in an inproper context
              javax.transaction.xa.XAException

                   at weblogic.jdbc.jta.DataSource.refreshXAConnAndEnlist(DataSource.java:1250)
this is with using the oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource driver in the ojdbc14.jar supplied with our weblogic. they don't happen every time a bean uses a connection, and it seems to be fairly consistant where the stack traces occur (when a bean tries to get a connection from the ds).
i grabbed the 10g version of odjbc14.jar from oracle (is there a way to tell specifically what version the ojdbc14.jar is from the jar itself?), and these errors went away. are driver upgrades like this supported by weblogic? i don't want to get into a situation where we have a critical issue and weblogic support tells me it's not a driver they issued. i'd really like to use this driver as to the 8.1.sp2 driver, as the 10g driver now supports clob/blob in a more vendor neutral way.
if anyone has comments/suggestions on this it would be most appreciated.

The driver itself is from oracle so any issues with the driver are supported by oracle not by BEA.
I think you should be fine using the latest driver.

  • Windows XP will not start up on HP Pavilion a350n.

    Hp Pavilion a350n desktop
    Windows XP
    No Error Message
I have installed new ram and a new video card, but all was fine for many months/ possibly even a year after install.
Hi, any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. My computer, as listed above has been sitting dormant for a while. The computer begins to start up windows xp, it makes it to the screen with the xp logo (the one with the loading bar) then the computer giving a slight beep followed by a whirring noise restarts with a black screen. It will continue this whirring noise until the power button is manually pushed.
Thank you again for any help! -Nik

    Evening all
Have you disabled any Norton, KAS, antivirus anti spyware programs?
If this key exists change it to 04 Hexdecimal and reboot.
     as seen here

If you are still having problems see follow the advice at the end of this posting and add what problems you are having. And send the logs after a MSFT team member responds with an address.

  • MacPro Quad 2.66 OSX 10.4.10 + 10.5 + XP

Is this a possibility and any sort of conflicts with running this set up?
I currently have a Quad MacPro 2.66 with OEM 500gb drive + my 500gb XP drive and im going to be purchasing a 150GB Raptor for Leopard OS/Programs only.
I wanted to know if i have it in drive bay 3 and leave my other OS drives in the system will i be okay to boot from any of the three or are there currently known issues with this?
    Drive bay 1: 500gb OS X 10.4.10
    Drive Bay 2: 500gb XP Pro Sp2
    Drive Bay 3: 150GB Raptor ~ Leopard 10.5
any thoughts or suggestions, i like using my tiger OS for applications that run smooth under rosetta and not 100% sure about the Leopard being compatible with alot of my applications as of yet.
and do not currently have an external case for sata drives so im just going to use all the internal slots for sata drives and OS and the external drives for backups and filestorage.
    thanks!!

There are some nice specials today:

Two old sayings, "better safe than sorry" and "stitch in time, saves nine" so along with backups, it is so easy to pull and insert disk drives (powered down, and 15 minutes to allow FBDIMMs to cool) makes the drive sleds easy to work for. I have two extra sleds (6) for drives that I use infrequently.
Also, 10.5.0 had a few problems mounting, seeing disk drives. However, Leopard really has better support for multi-core systems and the Finder has a lot of potential in it.
I think Leopard should have a nice feel, once it matures and more apps are ready. Developers often have to wait until it is out before they begin any real work testing and evaluating, and then do what upgrades they need to.
