HP 5210 Webcam

I bought a HP 5210 Webcam. The white balance doesn’t work using this Webcam. I called HP support and they don’t know why it doesn’t work. HP sent me another HP 5210 Webcam and the white balance doesn’t work on that also. I have tried using both of these Webcam in 2 computers with XP, Vista, and Windows 7 and the white balance does not work. However I have a HP 4110 Webcam and the white balance on that works just fine. Why?

I looked up the manual for your webcam and it looks like there are two places in the webcam software where you can adjust the white balance. I'm curious which method you're using to make adjustments, or if you've tried both places.
One way is through the ArcSoft WebCam Companion, and the other uses ArcSoft Magic-i Visual Effects. Please see pages 16 and 17 of the manual for screenshots and instructions for opening these adjustment windows. Both use sliders to make adjustments, including white balance settings. I haven't used these myself and I don't know if one overrides the other, or whether an adjustment to one applies to the other as well... just an idea that you might want to check into.

  • Does your HP Webcam 5210 White Balance work?

My HP Webcam 5210 White Balance don't work? so all I get is yellow. My HP 4110 webcam White Balance works great. I tried the 5210 on 2 computers and the white balance don't work on either of them so HP is sending me another 5210 webcam. Has anyone experience this or does anyone have a 5210 webcam who's white balance works? HP don't have a Webcam board so I'm not sure where this goes?

    Test Results:
    Aperture 1.1:
    Image Temperature: 3594
    Tint: -17
When using the white balance tool on a white section of a photo, the RGB values changed from R 255 G 234 B 192 to R 255 G 230 B 197 and the Temperature changed to 3946 and Tint to 12.
    The photo still remained unacceptable.
When usint the white balance tool on a grey section of the same photo, the RGB values cahnge from R 211 G 178 B 126 to R 208 G 180 B 162 and the Temperatue changed to 3154 and Tint to 2.
The photo still remained unacceptable but was notably improved.
Using Capture One Pro, the results were as follows:
    Temperatue: 3850
    Tint: -10
When using the white balance tool on a white section of the same photo, the RGB values changed from R 255 G 241 B 200 to R 244 G 244 B 244 and the Temperature changed to 2500 and Tint to -16.
Photo was very acceptable with no perceivable colour cast.
When using the white balance tool on a grey section of the same photo, the RGB values changed from R 190 G 153 B 108 to R 153 G 153 B 153 and Temperature to 2550 and Tint to -2.
Photo was very acceptable with no perceivable colour cast.
From this quick test on a photo, I can draw the following conclusions:
    1. Aperture interprets temperature and tint data differently from Capture One Pro, although this likely due to the use of a camera profile within Capture One Pro;
    2. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "white" section does not neutralize the RGB values;
    3. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "white" section does not correctly remove a colour cast within a photograph;
    4. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "grey" section does not neutralize the RGB values; and
    5. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "grey" section does not correctly remove a colour cast within a photograph, although it does work better.

  • HD Webcam 5210 - floppy?

I received an HP Webcam, HD 5210 today and I'm surprised with how floppy the pivot point for the camera is. It says I can swivel it verically and horizontally, but vertically is not possible. It always flops to the lowest position. Even when I get it to what I like horizontally, even the tiniest jolt like pushing in my keyboard tray on my desk flops it to another position.
This doesn't seem normal for a product at this price point. What's going on?

Well according to Skype's website, only Skype for Windows supports 720p HD video calling. So no webcam on Mac, be it HD or not will support Skype HD video calling on Mac until Skype supports it on the Mac.
    Culled from Skype.com: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/features/allfeatures/video-call/
*The latest version of Skype offers the clearest, crispest, sharpest quality video calling, and High Definition capability. If everyone on the call has an HD quality webcam, you can see the video in High Definition.*
    *What you’ll need:*
** _The latest version of Skype for Windows_*
    ** An HD quality webcam*
*A dual core processor, and a fast internet connection of 512 kbit/s or more is required.*

  • Looking for webcam - HD w/ encoder and swivel, aro...

I'm looking to purchase a webcam, and am having a hard time finding one that fits all my needs.  I need one that:
    - Is HD (720p is fine)
    - Has a HD encoder (Machine is Pentium 4 3.0GHz, don't want it lowering quality or running at 100pct cpu usage)
    - Can swivel somewhat.  Doesn't need to be 360, but want it to be able to swivel up/down/left/right a bit.
I was considering the Logitech C510 or C525, however Logitech's technical specifications say that full HD quality requires a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, which is significantly faster than my machine.
The Logitech C905/910 doesn't have a hardware encoder either.
The new Logitech B990 has a hardware encoder, but it's around $115 which is out of my price range.
The FaceVsion TouchCam V1 is only $50, which is great, but doesn't appear to swivel left/right at all
The Freetalk Everyman HD doesn't appear to swivel left/right, either.
Am I missing a webcam -- or if I want built-in encoding, do I lose the ability to swivel?

Did you find one that works?  My parents have that machine (Pentium 4, 3.0ghz), and I'd like to know that something (anything) would work before trying to get them on it.
The closest that you could come to your wish-list would be the HP HD 5210, which has H.264 encoding, swivel and costs ~$75.  The Logitech C920 costs about $10 more, but doesn't swivel.
No clue if it "won't put a strain on your computer", since, well, no offense but your computer is ancient and should probably be put out to pasture one of these days.  *If* it can make the jump from 640x480 up to 720p you'd probably be ok (my CPU usage went from ~65% @640 down to ~25% at 720p), but if it works at all I'd be pretty surprised.  Let me know what you're able to find out?

  • Mic in HD-5210 not working with Windows 10

After upgrading my HP Pavilion HPE h8-1010 (64 bit) to Windows 10, the integrated microphone in my HP Webcam HD-5210 stopped working.  I assume it's a driver issue, but HP doesn't offer a Windows 10 driver update for my webcam; Windows 8.1 is their latest.  Any suggestions?

Rather than wait to see if HP will (if ever) come up with a driver for Webcam HD-5210, I went out and purchased ($15) a stand-alone mic that has a 3.5 mm jack.  It plugs into the mic jack on the computer and is NOT Windows driven so drivers not needed.

  • How do I use my gigaware webcam with my mac?

How do I use my gigaware webcam with my mac? I just bought this webcam on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJE0ISS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF 8&psc=1 and I want to use it with my mac. Is there an adapter or any software to make it compatible? Thanks.

Your amazon link states, in part, that this webcam is:
Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7,Vista, XP, 2000
Use a Mac OS X Compatible Webcam like one of those shown in the linked article instead.
For best compatibility and security, also update your OS X Mavericks (10.9.2) to the current OS X version by restarting Mac and then downloading and installing OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo).

  • My webcam is no longer recognized by my PC

Last night I attempted to use my webcam on my HP Pavillion dv7 Notebook PC as usual and it did not turn on. I've looked through all of the forums and I attempted to find it in the device manager as well as scan for hardware changes but nothing turned up. There was no imaging devices section under the device manager at all. I'm just curious how I should fix this and resolve this issue, I want to use my webcam

  • Unable to capture video from webcam in JMF in xlet

    hi
I am unable to capture video from webcam in an Xlet. I am using Xletview to run Xlet. The method CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(vidformat) returns empty array. Which videoformat should I use and why do I get empty array?

MHP and OCAP only use JMF 1.0, which does not include support for capturing video. You will not be able to do this in any current MHP/OCAP imlementation that I know of.

Searching on the web, most results I found lead to this page, where it is said that the problem is due to badly tuned overcurrent protection, and advocated that unplugging and switching off the computer for a little while gets things back into normal. This does not really work for me; the problem seems to occur more randomly, unfortunately with high probability (my camera is available after less than one boot out of ten).
I tried to ensure that the ehci-hcd module is loaded at boot with the ignore-oc option (with a file in /etc/module-load.d/), to no avail.
I also wrote a script which alternatively removes and reloads the ehci-pci driver until my device is found in lsusb. It is sometimes helpful, but usually not. And even when my device is found that way, it can only be used for a while before disappearing again.
Anyway, such a hack is unacceptable... So, my questions are:
is it indeed related to overcurrent protection ?
is there anything else I can try ?
should I file somewhere an other of the numerous bug reports about "unable to enumerate USB device" already existing ?
If of any importance, I am running linux 3.15.7, because at the time I installed my system, I couldn't get the hybrid graphic card Intel/AMD working under 3.16.

    Mein aktuelles System:
    Windows 7 Home 64bit
    Internet Explorer 9 in 32bit
    Firefox 10
    Google Chrome 16
    kaspersky 2012
    Logitech HD webcam c910
Many Cam Software ...die neuste version
    Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
    VDSL 50.000 von der Telekom
    8 gb arbeitsspeicher
    Was ich bereits versuchte:
    - Zugriffs Berechtigungen in der windows Registrierung überprüft..alles ok dort ..also wieder ohne Erfolg
    Hilfeeeeeeeeeee !

  • Satellite U400 - the webcam does not work anymore

Hello guys here is my sudden probloema!
About a year ago I purchased a laptop
    TOSHIBA - Satellite U400
with s.o. WinVista 32bit and with integrated webcam chicony etc. ....
For a year, everything worked correctly, but for some days now, the webcam does not work anymore.
As soon as I try to open it, a message of management software cam that says "Webcam driver open fail, please restart or computer room"
I tried to do it all: aggioronato and downloaded the drivers from toshiba, uninstalled the program and re installed the webcam ....! updated bios notebook ....! useless!
the strange thing .. well that going into device manager ... the webcam is not there ....! but if the launch seems to open just then check quell caz ... Warning!!
    Gan you help me?
    Graziee

Are you familiar and comfortable with LINUX LIVE bootable discs to load an alternative operating system with unobtrusive but extensive Toshiba device support so you can determine if your webcam hardware is ruined or if the problem is software and possibly solved reinstalling Windows ?
At this point, you're pondering less time consuming but more expensive choices such as buying another web cam, or another computer and you might be temporarily borrowing someone else's web cam / using a non preferred spare web cam that isn't optimal for your needs.
Continuously downloading software, registry cleaners, and repeatedly reinstalling drivers will eventually ruin your Windows installation and consume more time than you've wasted so far and still doesn't guarantee to fix your malfunction.
