Hp 530 won't start up or even show on screen or alternate vga

Hi I own a HP 530
s/n:  CND8240GR3
P/N: FH554AT#ABA
It was working well for at least 4 months of use, then one morning, plugged in or not, it would not boot up.  I'm not talking about problems with windows (I was running windows 7 beta) starting or not, I am talking about the bios not loading at all!
All that happens is when I press the power button, it's led goes green, the wifi radio button and the caps lock led light up together for about a second then turn off.  Sometimes I can hear the fan, other times, it's running quietly, not showing anything at all on the screen or on a connected monitor.  It will stay like this despite having changed around the memory sticks.  Curious thing is that when I try with no ram installed, it does the same thing, leading me to wonder if the processor or motherboard is the problem..
In fact the behavior of the laptop doesn't change no matter if I run it without any memory, hard drive or dvd drive inserted.
Help!

Hi MeikoC,
You will have to do a system restore. You can restore it using a system disk or F11 on boot. Here is a document on this.

Hope this helps if not you will have to contact the seller.
Thanks.

    PLEASE HELP ME!

If you can't start up and log in in the usual way, try in safe mode.
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Log in as an administrator to carry out these instructions. If you have only one account, you are the administrator.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode.
If you're able to log in, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.

Hi. My Macbook Pro won't start, in the middle of the screen, there is a folder sign with a question mark blinking. Thanks a lot!

Here's a link to a Support page on the topic, which may be of help in finding resolution:
•A flashing question mark or globe appears when you start your Mac
There are a few known causes of this symptom, so you'd have to try some things to
see if you can narrow down the cause; this often accomplished by finding success.
    Hopefully the info there helps.

Pro won't start.  Instead get a black screen and a beeping every 2 seconds.  Light at front right corner of keyboard flashes in sequence with beeping.

If it is giving a single beep every two seconds, then it is not seeing any of the memory.  You could try taking the back off, remove the memory module and reinsert to see if that corrects the problem.  Or just take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs do that for you.
If you are uncertain about working on the memory modules, you can find on-line videos for doing so at OWC, http://www.macsales.com where you can see the procedure for your year, make and model of MacBook Pro.

The following support article is somewhat outdated. Where it refers to booting from an installation disc, you should boot from your recovery partition (if running 10.7 or later) by holding down the key combination command-R at the chime.

    Hi
Usually the Blue screen of death happens due to the serious software problem or due to the hardware malfunction.
In your case it sounds more like something wrong with the hardware. Why, because you are not able to restore the notebook from the delivered Toshiba recovery CD!
What to do buddy? I think the notebook must be checked.
Try to contact an ASP in your country and ask for the further handling!
    Good luck

  • Won't start up and has pattern on screen

Mac Pro running 10.6.8 won't start up and stalls out with just a funky pattern on a white screen. I have been able to do a Safe Boot and have run permissions tests/fixes but it still won't restart properly afterwards...  arrggggh

Clone it to another drive, in part to NOT use the old system for now, and weed out any and all 3rd party background drivers extensions and processes. Or do a clean install, install as much as possible from original master copies/installers.
And move all the data and media to another drive. All but your home folder library so your boot drive is only the system and apps and that small 3GB user data.

  • 20" imac won't start up-flashes between blank grey screen and black screen

    20" imac
    2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Was running system 10.5.8 just fine. Worked great.
But then I wanted to give the imac to a relative. And so, I tried to boot from the original grey mac install dvd to wipe the hardrive and set the imac back to factory specs.
But it wouldn't boot off the dvd. All It would do at restart was to flash slowly back and forth between blank grey screen and black screen. So, I tried the Leopard update dvd. Same results. So I zapped the pram and tried again. Same results.
If I just pushed the start button tho.. the imac would start right up and run fine. However, I didn't want to give it to someone else with all our information on it.
I finally restarted it and held the "T" key to turn it into a giant firewire drive, hooked it up to our other 20" imac, and used the disk utility from the second imac to erase the drive of the first imac. Then I inserted the grey install dvd into the second imac and selected the drive of the first imac and ran the install process.
Now, the first imac won't start up at all. Just a continual grey screen for a bit, than a couple of buzz sounds in the machine and then the black screen... than back again.
It ran great before I erased the drive and re-installed OS 10.5
What's wrong? How do I get the machine to either boot off the install cd?

So, I've figured out a little more on the first machine. It's a 20" 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running 10.5.8.
It ran great. But, I wanted to erase the hard drive and reinstall the OS system before giving it to a relative.
I found that although the optical drive would read and write to normal cds and dvds, the machine would NOT boot from the grey start-up disks I had on hand. ( I have two imacs, and I tried both sets of dvds without success.)
I zapped the PRAM, and used disk utilities via firewire connection from my other 20" imac to check the hardrive and make repairs. Disk Utilities couldn't find any problems. So, using disk utilities from the other imac, I erased the first imac's harddrive and then used the install dvds on the second imac to install the original OS to the hard drive of the first imac.
(looking on the hard drive of the first imac, I can see all the contents)
However, the first machine will not start up. It just switches from grey....to black..... then grey..... and then black again.... over and over
Why won't it boot from the newly installed OS on it's own hard drive?
And Why won't it boot from the original install dvds?
How can I get it to start up again?

  • IMac won't start. I get a black screen, not even a grey one or beachball

I Have a 21'' iMac bought in 2012 OS recently upgraded to Mavericks.
A Few days ago I received a system upgrade notice (can't remember the details) which I promptly installed as I always do. Since then the Mac has been switching itself off randomly, with no prompt / command by me. Today it did it three times in quick succession but now it won't switch on again..
When I press the power button at the back I can hear the machine starting to do something (very subtly) but there is no chime, no sign that it's doing anything and the screen remains completely black as if it's switched off.
i Have since turned it off and on several times but get always the same results. I even disconnected from the power supply for a minute or two but same thing happens. Keyboard and mouse also seem to be disconnected.
    ANy leads please?

  • MacBook won't start - no power even when connected to power cable

    Dear Apple,
I have an older MacBook that I am not using regularly anymore - only to synchronize my music to my iPod.
When I tried to start it a couple of days ago, it wasn't starting up. Thinking the battery was flat, I connected it to the charger cable and tried to boot.
Unfortunately, that also did not work. It seems the battery is not charging, and the laptop simply doesn't boot, also when plugged to the charger.
When I check the control-lights on the back, none of the 5 green lights come on. Also not when plugged to the charger.
What is the advise on how to fix this? I could get a new battery, but it would be a waste of money if I am not sure if this will actually solve the problem.
    Kind regards,
    Sjoerd Manschot

  • My apple computer won't start up, or even turn on.

So, I come home one day, and I try to turn on my MacBook Pro.. I press the power button, and it doesn't turn on. Generally, you would think it died and needed to be charged. So, I plug it in, and when I come back after a while, it's fully charged. I press the power button, and it doesn't start. So I hold the power button down, it still doesn't start. I'm not sure what's wrong with it anymore, it's just like it died. There's no noise coming from the inside, and there's nothing even starting up, just emptiness. Please, could someone tell what's wrong with it?

    Chookster,
make an appointment at your nearest Apple store; someone there will be able to tell you what’s wrong with it.

  • MBP won't start on battery even tho its charged.

    Hi,
I have a Mac Book Pro which I bought sometime in April. Just yesterday, when I unplugged the AC adaptor, the computer shut down, even though the battery says it is fully charged.
The green lights on the battery itself are all on.
When I try to start up my Macbook without the AC adaptor, it turns on for a second(i hear the superdrive turning), then it shut downs again. I just got this computer..whats the deal . Good thing I have apple care.
Oh, I tried to restart the PMU. I shutdown comp, take ac adaptor out, and battery out, and click on the power button for five seconds. Still no progress. I saw another thread on this..let me see if it'll help.

I report another case of the identical problem: The MBP will not start on battery alone, though it is completely charged as indicated both by the menu bar and by battery LED's. Furthermore, disconnecting the power adapter while running, causes the computer to go down immediately and completely, despite fully charged battery.
The behavior began abruptly after about ten weeks of normal use, though it was preceded in the last week or two by a few instances of the battery running completely down without a "low power" warning. Whether these are related symptoms, I don't know, but have read a number of reports of the latter problem.
I will request a new battery from Apple Care, but it sounds as if this may not get to the heart of the problem. Any further info would be appreciated.

  • My MacBook won't start up, not even with a power cable, after the battery had been completely emptied.

My daughter worked on the MacBook wirelessly yesterday until the battery was completely emptied. So I plugged in the Mac power cable and left it on all night long in order to recharge the battery. This morning I tried to restart the MacBook, but nothing happens.Does anyone know what can be done?

  • Firefox won't start, profile manager won't start, but firefox.exe shows in processes list (task manager)

Firefox will not start, even though it is listed in my processes in task manager. Can't get profile manager to start either.
I have tried the following to no avail:
    - try to start FF in Safe Mode, doesn't load
    - started Windows Vista in Safe Mode, FF still does not load
    - turned off Kaspersky AV, FF still does not load
    - uninstalled FF, cleaned out user/####/AppData/Mozilla/Firefox folder, as well as ProgramFiles/Mozilla/Firefox folder, and cleaned our Registry manually from all references to Firefox. Downloaded FF 3.6.3, installed. still does not load
    - whatever i seem to do, does not fix the problem. When I try to start Firefox, no window appears. I can see the process starting in my task manager. I can "end process" and try to start the program again by double-clicking program icon. Process starts in task manager, but no app window appears.
I am frustrated and have just wasted 2+hours of my night trying to get this to work. Downloaded Google Chrome, unless there is a fix for FF (which I would prefer to use), i will have to switch to Chrome.
I can't pinpoint when this trouble started, but may have been after a recent Windows Update. I already did a System Restore to a restore point about 5 days ago (the oldest one available to me, and I believe that was before the FF trouble started). This has not helped either.
I have run a full virus scan with Kaspersky and a Full scan with Windows Defender. Nothing came up.
Anyone else been able to find a solution to this?

I found a way to make it work somehow but not really fixing the error... one day when I got really pissed off because FF just won't open, I clicked the icon and killed the enter button, then multiple FF windows appeared. I tried to open it with just a single hit of the enter or double clicking but it won't work anymore, but repeatedly clicking the enter button (mine works with just 3 hits, sometimes 6) seem to open it. And until now, I have no technical explanation for this.
